Maybe lemon pepper sauce- it's just melted butter

Ive been disappointed before, never like this. My family walked in early afternoon - gave the CRICKET EMPTY place the benefit of the doubt because it was still early we just figured we were ahead of the rush.. unfortunately we learned our lesson. This place was by far THE worst seafood boil restaurant we've ever been to. We hold seafood boils close to the heart and are usually driving 30-60 minutes to our favorite spots and wanted to give this place (a mile from home) a fair shot. My husband ordered lemon pepper shrimp, there was maybe a spoonful of sauce and when he asked for more lemon pepper sauce on the side it was a bowl of melted butter and maybe lemon pepper seasoning? Just tasted like butter so we don't know. I ordered the trifecta sauce shrimp and the sauce was just barely there, missing seasoning and flavor. Not to mention after taking our order, the waitress/manager/owner? Didn't stop by once to see how we were doing. WHILE WE WERE THE ONLY TABLE PRESENT. We had to holler for her every time because for whatever reason once we were seated she turned the party music up to an unreasonably loud volume for our one table. I'm not a Karen, I love a good time. When the food is good and there's a reason to put on music and vibe lol. Even the chicken tenders and fries for our kids were somehow equally upsetting? Fries were undercooked and soggy, tenders were dry and tough enough for our 3 year old to spit out. Idk, maybe see for yourself or just trust a true foodie lol. Also something to note, I like headless shrimp while my husband likes head-on. We've never noticed more than a $1-$2 difference (headless is usually more) but at this place, they charge $7 more for headless shrimp. After eating a few shrimp each we decided to pack it up to take it home and salvage what we could with homemade sauce. HOPE THIS HELPS

So I came in here, hoping to have some good boiling crab for my birthday and when we first walked in, they had one party in there and we were not acknowledged for about 15 minutes. I should've known them to just walk away. However, we stayed and again, sat for almost 20 minutes with zero acknowledgement. I then start to order and she rudely asks me if I've ever been to a place like this before. Whatever, ok.. So we ordered the trifecta toppings with our bag. The taste was non existent and there was hardly any sauce.. a thin layer at bottom of bag, I shook the bag to try to get the taste throughout what we had ordered and even then it did not help. It was not tasty. The lady was wearing sunglasses the entire time and when I came time to pay, she yells from her little area that we have to pay upfront. It was not a good experience. 90% of it was because of the service she was providing. Rest assured, we will not be back

Seafood was fantastic. Garlic French fries were terrible. Reported my concerned, took management almost a week to reply. My order was take out. Also ordered an item the restaurant ran out of and was not notified prior to paying and restaurant making a decision to compensate with extra of an item that was not approved by me. Customer follow through needs improvement. read more

I had to try this place due to the ratings, but I have to admit, I was not impressed by there seafood. The garlic noodles tho we're off the hook, I'll be ordering that side frequently but only the noodles next time. . The seafood was alright but I've had way better. If your looking for finger licking seafood you have to try rays fish and chicken market in Stockton. Believe me if you think this place is good then you have to try Rays. read more

Such buttery goodness. We ordered crabs, clams, and sausage. Really good sausage but very little for $3. The crab and clams were very fresh. Just talking about it makes my mouth water. Guess I'm coming back soon. Service was very prompt. The place itself was really nicely decorated. read more

I was raised on the east coast where seafood was everywhere and I've had the best of the best! The Cajun Spot is now on that list! We had a boil ( shrimp,clams,sausage,potatoes and corn) fried okra on the side and sweet tea. The spices used in the boil are balanced so nicely and the heat is perfect ( gives you a little kick at the end) the okra was delicious and the sweet tea makes you feel like you should be sitting on an old porch in the middle of summer in mississippi. It was very clean inside and you're given plenty of napkins and bibs. Our waiter was a young man who had a big smile and had a ton of knowledge about his product. If you want a meal you're going to talk about for weeks this is the spot read more

Will not order take from here again. You can not call and make an order you have to place online. I picked a time and it wasn't ready.... said another 10-15 mins.... because their App doesn't know there are multiple orders at the same time! DuH! This is not happening at other take outs here in Manteca.... This place needs to figure things out! Update.... Also clam shell pieces in our order of headless shrimp and shrimp with heads on, so we also got gypped on the weight of headless vs head on. Good thing we didn't bite down on the pieces of shell....Then corn was added to our order and we did not order as we are low carb....The 10mins it took us to get home, everything was luke warm and the butter already congealing. This is normally super super hot and we can't eat it for about 15-20mins because it's so hot. Definitely won't order take out from here again. read more

Yes yes by far the best Cajun spot ever!! Me and my boyfriend got the snow crab legs with shrimp and mussel and corn and sausages!!! It was so good because we are from Chicago but nothing compares to this Cajun spot!! All fresh seafood and the shrimp gumbo was delicious, the place is very clean and the server was a very friendly girl. The seafood price are pretty decent. Will be back again to eat here again. I've had Cajun spot during the pandemic and I must say the food quality has never been as poor as today . You can tell that everything was just thrown together . The cooking oil has a burnt taste . The potatoes were cold and stale . And the catfish was also burnt tasting . I'm dissatisfied all around . Hopefully they have some changes soon so I can return read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and I'm glad we finally made it! First the staff was wonderful very attentive and friendly. We for the mild #2 bucket with the trifecta and it was great! The shrimp is soo good and crab nice and sweet. Gumbo good too! We will be back! read more

A little over price but the food was not good and not bad it's ok. Moderate I got the trifecta with all the seasoning and medium spice. A little too much butter. Preferred the Dungeness crab and they didn't give me the head which is the best part also "DO NOT ORDER" the garlic noodles. It taste so plain like i paid 8 dollars for some "chow mein" I am a garlic noodle fan and have made plenty myself . Over all 3 Star because the garlic noodles. read more

Great prices for a lot of delicious food! There are not many seafood spots in the valley, so glad we found this spot. The shrimp were jumbo shrimp. I had Cajun mild. Next time I'll try for the mild or XXX. The fried rice with shrimp and sausage, I expected big slices of sausage, instead got chopped. It was good big serving size, very filling but expected more. Fryer was down, couldnt try any fried foods, kinda disappointing, (it being our 1st time there) still good place read more

Great seafood place in town. Hubby ordered a pound of headless shrimp spicy and it was delicious!!! The shrimp was perfectly seasoned, deveined, big and juicy!!! Added sausage and potato. Ordered the gumbo fries! The serving size was huge and soooooo delicious. Will be going back for many more visits! read more

This place was was cool food was great but I'll warn you now it's a young crowd. When I took a seat I had to double take to make sure I wasn't in a high school cafeteria because there were teenagers everywhere lol. The best way I could describe this place is Wing Stop but instead of them serving chicken they serve seafood. read more

I know they're still fairly new. Do they take credit cards now? I've only ever gotten the shrimp. Good. Sauces good flavor. The corn tastes frozen, bunch of mush. Don't recommend. Their lemons/limes are out in the open in a bucket thing. Went over and saw a HAIR STRAND in there all in the lemons. Ew. Would suggest having a cover of some sort like Rubio's w. Their salsas. OR, keep them in the back and give upon request. I'm a big fan of Boiling Crab so this spot is ok when I'm craving Boiling crab. read more

the food was amazing. out server was a young guy and he was very attentive to everyone and super kind. i liked the set up, they have a white table covering, they give you gloves and a bib thing so you don't get dirty and then you eat the amazing food. i highly recommend sadly i didn't get pics because i was too busy eating but i ordered the garlic noodles and the shrimp with sausage and potatoes. i ordered it in cajun seasoning and mild spice i tried the spicy sauce and it was too spicy for me read more

I was hoping to find a new cajun spot closer to home similar to boiling crab. This was not it. Ordered shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes. Opened my bag to realize they only gave me 1 corn (I ordered 5), two potatoes (I ordered 4) and NO SAUSAGE. For the price, you'd think they'd at least get your order right. Only giving this place two stars because manager called me to refund missing items. Also, the lemon pepper wings were pretty good. read more

I've live in Manteca a little over 3 months. Coming from San Francisco, I am super picky about seafood. Well this play was amazing. This place is good. Being from the bay area I have been spoiled with Boiling Crab. But this is a close second for when we don't want to make the 3 hour drive to and from there. We've ordered the "snow crab" here. Although it looks nothing like snow crab. This one is a lot skinnier than the snow crab we are used to. The shrimp are huge though which is awesome and you get quite a bit for your money. Their corn is good too. The sauce is good but I don't like that it solidifies quickly....I assume it's due to the amount of butter. And when you ask for extra sauce you literally get like 2 tablespoons of it. Again may just be me being picky but boiling Crab gives you a cup full. Overall I would and have recommended this place, but it has room to improve. read more

Would be great if the sauce wasn't powdery. It wasn't bad but maybe garlic, onions, ginger etc would make the seafood boil perfect. Especially for the price you better put more love into making the sauce. read more

My friend loves the boiling crab out in Sacramento, so when I heard about this place, I had to tell her and she had to try it out. We came here for lunch on a Friday. We were excited to have some crab in Manteca that I didn't bother looking at the prices. She did, but looked at the wrong item ‍ 1 pound of king crab each, $50 later, we were satisfied. Although the king crab was delicious, the price really hurt. They do have the current market price up on a back wall, but from where I was sitting, I couldn't see it, and she read the price of snow crab thinking it was king crab. They definitely need to have a better way of seeing what the current market price is. This is a great spot to have in Manteca, but I do not think I will be visiting as much as I would have liked too due to the price. read more

This is our go to spot for Cajun shrimp and king crab legs in town. Although I hate to say we have been disappointed these last few times and noticed a decrease in the amount of shrimp and missing items in our to go orders. Today we ordered our normal order and when picking it up the person at the counter said they looked everything over for me so no worries. Unfortunately, when we got home we were missing some corn (which doesn't make or break the meal for us). But this has happened a few times and the fact that they said they checked it and everything is good made it all the more disappointing. I tried calling and no one picked up, so that's how I ended up here. Overall pretty good food but poor service. read more

I was up in lathrop months ago and was searching for something rather than bad Chinese, unauthentic Mexican food, or anything that wasn't fast food or dennys. To my surprise, this place had literally just opened, so we have it a try. Hands down best crawfish I had!im from San Diego and over the years. They have opened some spots here that are good, but just felt like it was nothing special. The flavor/seasoning was so good. I literally want to call to see if they can bottle it up, freeze it, and send me some! Note to owner, if that ^^ is possible, message me! read more

Wtf! I ordered Bucket 3 for $62. 1 lbs of shrimps, clams and crab! I got cheated. I got 10 shrimps and a bunch of clams shells. I also order garlic noodle and garlic fries. Spending over $80. So not worth it... will never spend money here again.. I don't think they weigh their shit...smh read more

Excellent food, very tasty. The decor is pretty cool, and the service is very friendly. I've been here three times so far, and the food has never disappointed. But.... this place has problems. First of all, the wait time. I know it takes awhile to make the food, but man... you're waiting a LONG time for your food. The prices are pretty steep, as well, and while you get good food and a good amount, it's hard forking over the prices they ask for. If it were fine dining, that wouldn't be a big deal, but... it's not fine dining. If anything, it's almost the opposite. I know in Louisiana, they just dump the food on the table and you eat with your fingers, but guys... seriously.... you're laying out shelf paper and dumping incredibly messy (albeit delicious) sauce and seafood all over it! You're seriously going to charge me 5-star restaurant prices and then dump my food on picnic tables covered with paper??? I get it, it's your theme, but this is a terrible theme. You have phenomenal food, why on earth are you dumping it on the table??? This level of food should be put on real plates and served with silverware. Instead, you get a plastic bag, and you're expected to spread the contents on the table. The restaurant owner actually looked a little offended when I asked for a plate and silverware... and I got a paper plate and plasticware. Guys, guys, what are you doing? This is California, not Louisiana! I'd hate to think what you'd do if you were serving Aborigine food! Enough with the dumb theme and upgrade your class, and you'll have me back in your restaurant. Otherwise, I'd suggest getting your food to go and eating it at home with your own utensils... unless you just like ruining your clothes. read more

The Cajun Spot IS THE SPOT for great, feel good food. So many flavors, but yet still so simple home cooked meals. Bring friends, because it's a lot to enjoy, you'll definitely will need to share. We are already making plans on when we're coming back and who we're bringing along with us. Oh, and the service was fantastic! April 20 2019 My husband and I decided to dine here, we arrived at 8:10pm We sat down ordered a soft drink and a beer. 50 minutes later the waitress let's us know that they had a large online order, the reason it was taking so long for our food order to be ready. The waitress stated it would take just 10 more minutes. The restaurant closes at 9pm. The personnel in there started walking out with plates of food.They would come out to refill their drinks and such. Yet we still didn't get our food served. At 9:15 we asked how much longer it would take, the cook said 10 more minutes. We decided to cancel our order. They still charged us for our drinks after waiting an hour an 15 minutes with nothing else served to us. Definitely not ever going back there again read more

Maybe is wasn't a great idea to have this in town. Yes the service okay.... Definitely not the best. The only one who works there is very slow and obnoxious. We tried a few things in this location and not only are they extremely over priced it lacks so much flavor. I have been putting off this review for so long because it's such a disappointment that you literally just don't ever want to think about it again. Now to their food. I honestly believe their shrimp is boiled on the side without flavors because the shrimp didn't taste like anything. They were also very overcooked. Not sure if they have realized that closing their plastic bags on their food will continue to cook their food -_-. Second their gumbo is not gumbo... Lastly their choices on suace is bad. I love lemon pepper anything especially on seafood. To say the least I only tasted garlic butter no lemon or pepper and I am intolerant to garlic... According to them that is the only type of butter they own and apparently that's what gives the shrimp the flavor. Uhhhh okay... I had to drown my shrimp in salt and pepper that were given on the side to make it taste somewhat like actual lemon and pepper. Anyways they are super overpriced and they don't have the best service. The lemon pepper and other flavors suck. I wouldn't recommend anything here, but I do suggest making a drive to the Bay Area for a real Cajun experience with seafood that is both delicious and are fairly priced! read more

GARLIC NOODLES here are probably the best in the area if you cant or not willing to drive to the bay. Also tried the shrimp and sausage rice which was really good too. The only thing is, it comes with only 3 pieces of shrimp and the sausage was cut small so the proportion of rice to sausage and shrimp was kind of off. The 2nd time I tried to come here they were out of garlic noodles (probably bc they are the only place in the area that sells them). Looking forward to trying them again! read more

Went here again on Tuesday Feb 14th, I must say I loved the Ox Tail with rice and potato Salad The Mud Bugs were good to. The only problem we had was the snow crab was missing some meat in the leg's after cracked open. May want to check with your vendor. Will be back read more

The chicken was sooo crispy, it was one of my favorite items. The bacon kimchi flavor had a nice spicy kick to it. The beef chili oil noodles was tasty and I liked the small beef bits. The bang bang chicken had the same sauce as the bang bang shrimp, but I liked how the entree came with rice too. The philly cheesesteak eggrolls were super crispy, and if you're a cheese lover, you need to try this! This is a pretty good place for some tasty Cajun food. Be prepared to get very messy if you dine in (I'd recommend you take your order home). While I think the messiness is intended to be part of the experience I'd personally like the option to keep it a little cleaner. When you order they give you the pound of shrimp in a big plastic bag with sauce in it that you have to dig them out of then de-shell them yourself. To reiterate what Dale had previously said I'd asked for a bowl to empty out the bag into and was given a paper plate that basically turned to mush and leaked through instantly. The food has great flavor I usually get a pound of shrimp with the Trifecta sauce (which is super thick and buttery as others have pointed out) The Garlic noodles, Gumbo, Gumbo fries and the fried Okra were all pretty good. Although this spot is not too big and the wait time can be long on weekends, I've always been able to get a seat within a reasonable amount of time.
