I stopped by The Caked Corner for a few slices of cake and ended up getting such a fun surprise--they also have Indian treats and mango lassi! I wasn't expecting that, but honestly, it made the visit even better. Of course, I had to grab a lassi, and it was so good--creamy, refreshing, and the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. The cakes? Amazing. Moist, flavorful, and exactly what you want when you're craving something sweet. But what really made the experience great was the person at the counter--super nice, helpful, and just really made the whole visit feel welcoming. The atmosphere felt very open, it wasn't very busy but plenty of space to enjoy your dessert. If you love desserts (or just love trying new things), you should definitely check this place out. Whether you're grabbing a classic slice of cake or branching out with something new, The Caked Corner is totally worth a visit. I'll definitely be back!

This is literally the first Indian food place I actually liked. I have tried quite few other Indian restaurants, but they never able to trigger my taste bugs. This one finally did it! I got more curious about Indian cuisine and bakery. :) The Vada Pav is full of flavor. I love the crunchiness of the pav, and the potato. At the same time, the potato is filled with refreshing flavor from all the ingredients with a slight spicy kick. I love it! Definitely a must! I also tried the Ras Malai cake, holy molly, this one is legit! One of the most unique cake flavor. Every bites feel refreshing. Its got a nice hint of mint and lemon. Not sure what is in the cake, but dang! I can't wait to try again next weekend. It's like drug! I'm getting the whole cake! :D The Mango Lassi is also great. Great mango flavor with nice yogurt texture. It is quite different from the usual yogurt drink. I feel like I can live 1000 years after the drink. The service is excellent. The tiny girl at the counter is very friendly with great smiles. Keep up the good work!! Cheers!! and thank you for the great food! I'm looking forward to explore all the unique offers ~ ^_^

Cake hella tastyyyy. Taste just like the bakeries in India (amdavad). Their mango is really good but their Black Forest is ON TOP. Tried the puffs too and they are not bad at all!! I think the ambiance is just ok tho. They can definitely jazz it up a bit and it might attract more customers, we usually do to go. If you want a specific flavor you have to order 3 days in advance unfortunately. But they should probably have some available even if you just drop in. The cake is not too sweet and delicious chocolate taste with the light fluffy cream, I wanted to keep eating it! My mom doesn't like cakes and baked stuff as much but even she devoured it. Def recommend if you are looking for a good eggless option

I came here once before in August, they had pani puri and mango as well as rose lassi. I got my mom a snack when we was grocery shopping in the same shopping center across the lot. They took Apple Pay. It's a smaller option than what used to be here, but it's a new business and they are kind. They have a nice, clean bathroom and the store is spacious for oncoming customers to come inside so it's good for people traffic. I would definitely go back because the flavors were good. I will have to try some of their cake next time.

This place has a variety of eggless cakes. We tried the mango whole cake. It was so good and we could taste the mango in the puree and in the mango cream. The cake itself was so light and delicious. I ended up eating 2 slices of the cake. They do decor on the cake and also the writing. They also have other flavors like Rasmalai, Falooda, butterscotch. Definitely recommend trying this place if you or you're family members do not eat egg

    Delhi chaat

Formerly surati Farsan which used to be my all time favorite chaat place in all of San Diego is now the cake korner. They have some pastry options and some chaat options still but definitely not the same chaat I used to get. Still pretty cheap at about $8 for a plate of chaat. Ingredients are fresh but just not the same.

This review is purely for take out... we stopped by after lunch to pick up a few sweet treats... We tried a slice each of the pineapple cake, butterscotch cake and the cassata cake (daily special). They were perfectly moist, spongy and not overly sweet....very nostalgic of flavors and treats available in India. While the space itself currently seemed a rather empty as compared to the prior occupants, I'm guessing this must be a part of this restaurants growth. Service was prompt and courteous. The menu seemed to offer a large number of other savory items for dine-in, and an interesting list of drinks, so can't wait to come try them out!

They create delectable cakes! Sometimes I crave a plain store bought cake. But now I've discovered a this new shop. Their menu included a range of fruit cakes and cafe-style food. I chose the pistachio cake, which was excellent. The crème on the cake was flawless, and it was not extremely sweet. The cake itself was soft and moist. I also sampled the butterscotch flavor, and it tasted exactly like it. I will certainly return to try more.

I did enjoy the egg one much more as the katsu one had a strong vinegary sauce that was overpowering the whole sando. Service/Ambiance 4/5: There was plenty of seating and the workers were nice. Based on other comments and the AI summaries I saw on Yelp and Google, it was recommended that I order ahead which is exactly what I did and it was a fairly easy and a quick system. It looks like their weekly menu keeps changing which is a both a good thing and a bad thing because you get to try new things but may not always get to eat your favorites again. I pre-ordered on a Thursday for a pick up on Friday and they were already out of their seasonal Black Forest Bun which sounded delicious. After scrolling through the menu multiple times, I decided to get the Pistachio Strawberry croissant and the Kouign Amann. When I arrived at the store, I immediately noticed the pre-order pick up window and was so glad that I wasn't standing in what seems to be on atleast a 25-30 line which I though was crazy for a weekday morning. The staff that gave my order was so friendly and it was so quick. What's great is they hold your order for atleast 24 hours in case you're unable to pick it up. There is some seating in the patio but honestly it's not meant for sitting and enjoying the pastries because there aren't really any tables but only seating. So it's best to pick up and take it home or eat by the beach which is what I did. The place is cute with a lot of plants and good vibes though. Since they don't warm up the croissants , I was worried that it wouldn't taste good while eating it at the beach but I was absolutely wrong. The Kouign Amann was okay, I'd give it a 4/5. The Pistachio Strawberry croissant however, was so absolutely delicious I'd give it a 5/5 even though it wasn't warmed up, it had the perfect amount of sweetness. It's easily one of the best croissants I've ever had. Overall this place has absolutely delicious pastries, but I'm not sure if I'd stand in a 30 mins line, maybe 10-15 mins, so good for them to have the pre order system.

Turns out it was just as whimsical and quaint as the name of the bakery would make it seem, from the pet freindly atmosphere to the passion fruits hanging from the overhead trestle! As a tip, order ahead for pickup! Wayfarer opens its doors at 8 am, with online pickups avaliable as early as 9 - 9:15am. We walked right up, passed the already growing line, and enjoyed our breakfast. Truly the only way to skip waiting in line; going early won't cut it! We got three different croissants, as well as a baguette. Can't go wrong with the original, but the standout (to me) was the almond, with a crunchy top and stuffed with almond filling (think marzipan!). Perfectly balanced, and the almond, nor the sweetness, was not too overpowering. The Kouign-Amann had a crunchy, sugary shell. Almost like a creme brulee topping on a croissant. Sticky, but so delicious. Also shoutout to the baguette! One of the best I've had. Next time I'll have to bring some fruit, cheese, and honey. Wayfarer's vibes transported me to a community garden in Santa Cruz, and the tastes and techniques to Europe. Good thing it's inconvenient to get here from UC San Diego or else I'd be here much more often.

Lines are always better with a friend and even though we all arrived before opening there was still a healthy line. I was really excited, to finally get to check them out, I saw on their socials that a new chef had taken residency and that they came with some Filipino flair. As a fellow Filipino I definitely wanted to support. I ended up ordering a lumpia roll, ube butter ensaymada, a halo halo tart and a egg sando sandwich along with an iced matcha with honey, with tip my total was $48, which isn't horrible considering these are meant to be higher quality pastries. My girlfriends and I found a table and decided we would share, I shared my egg sando sandwich and the lumpia roll, while they shared their ube butter ensaymada and the turon kouign amann. My matcha, was a horrible, it was a muddy green and really lacked any matcha flavor, my friend didn't like her matcha either and she had the miso caramel matcha. I didn't even finish my matcha and I can really take one down. We joked about how we should have opted for the orange juice instead. Now for the pastries, I was really underwhelmed by them, the ensaymada was just fine, I honestly cannot remember the taste of it, it lacked something. The egg sando sandwich, the filling was plentiful and flavorful BUT the bread was dry, was that potato bread? The texture was off for me and I ended up just scooping out the filling and eating it like that. Where the sando had a good amount of filling the lumpia roll lacked it, it was so sparse I figured it would be more like a sausage roll so I was taken aback by how little there was in it. Flavors were fine, the pastry was buttery but I just wanted a little more. The one pastry we agreed was better than the rest was the turon kouign amann, the crunchy bits of sugar was so reminiscent of turon but the filling, for me was like uncooked banana bread batter, that threw me off entirely. It was better, but not the filling. So overall, I would say it was okay, I guess for the costs it just didn't meet my expectations.

Lots of chocolate and I think they added toffee in it too. The middle section had pistachio frangipane (or it looked like it) with coarsely chopped pistachios that brought another layer of crunch! Then to top it all off, it had pistachio cream on top of the cookie! I only wish I got another one. CAPPUCCINO It was okay. But love the foam! It was frothy and foamy! PAVLOVA The meringue was a bit too hard and too sweet and the pastry cream was overwhipped. Loved the fresh fig and blueberries though. I was looking forward to eating pavlova and this was very disappointing! KOUIGN AMANN Very buttery and sticky! Crispy on the outside. Every bite was not dry, but chewy. There was this sticky and chewy texture that wasn't unpleasant, yet it wasn't fully flaky like a croissant. But glad it was not dry! The kouign amann was not as tall like others I've tried, but I preferred it this way because it was not dry. The last kouign amann I had from Bread Lounge was dryyyy. But bought mine at a coffee shop too. PAIN AU CHOCOLAT Crispy on the outside, but I must have toasted a bit more, so the outside was a bit more toasted than desired. Inside was good. Good dark chocolate. BUTTER CROISSANT Really buttery, flaky, crispy! Ate it next day, so reheated it in the toaster oven to bring a more crispness all around. Really enjoyed this! Adding butter and jam is so good! LEMON MERINGUE Meringue had a strong eggy smell and flavor, the lemon was tangy, but not enough to rid of the eggy smell and flavor. The tart was hard and almost stale. I took a few bites and threw the rest out. PAIN SUISSE Chocolate flavor. Crispy on the outside, fluffy like a light spongy cake inside. Enjoyed this! CUSTOMER SERVICE Got there early afternoon. There was only one person in front of me. Good service overall. Quick service. Hits and misses of the various pastries I've tried. It will not deter me from trying their pastries though, as the really good ones were really good! Would love to return! Especially for that Choco Chip Pistachio Cookie! I will say the ham and cheese croissant is pretty good, but a tad overpriced, but as is most things in SD. Service is always great and fast, and this is also a great comfortable study spot. As for desert, I think the photo speaks for itself. Amazing. Truly cant recommend enough :)

The crowd will come and go, so there's some moments of reprieve if you're considering this spot for reading/working. My "low" rating is because I feel quite mixed about the quality of the consumables. I really enjoyed my orange blossom latte. They accommodated a decaf shot for me, given how late it was in the day. I got a sesame raspberry cake to go, planning for it to be a nice dessert treat for dinner. The mini cake tastes like sesame, and the thin spread of raspberry was nice to break th creaminess. So while it tastes really nice, I was let down by the uneven raspberry taste and since it wasn't enough, the cake turned out to be too sweet when I got to the second half. Maybe this is a quality control issue, but I'm not sure I'll get another $12 mini cake from them any time soon.
