Holbrook is a town without a lot of non-fast food options. The front desk clerk recommended against one of the higher rated restaurants because he said much of their food was reheated (?!). On a whim, we decided to check out Camaleon. It's a very no frills place. A few tables, a counter and a TV. The menu offers both American and Mexican items. We chose beef and chips quesadillas which come with chips and salsa. Chips were excellent and I liked the salsa. Not too hot, just right. The quesadilla platters were huge. Four generous slices of quesadilla with refried beans, rice, tomato and lettuce and a cup of guacamole. Gigantic soft drinks are $1.49 with free refills. The entire bill came to $20 with tip. Great little place! Home made food. Good service. We had omlettes for dinner and they came with potatoes, toast or biscuits or pancakes. All for $6.50. Full menu available all day. Dinners were $6.50-7 and included entree, mashed potatoes , veg, and salad. Great food at great prices. read more

I'm so glad we stopped for lunch here on our way through town. We chose Chameleon based on reviews, and it was a great choice. The service was friendly and prompt and the food was good. I had a vegetable omelet that was delicious. Others in our party had the Denver omelet, cheese crisp, patty melt, and green chili enchilada. All were great. My only criticism is that the French fries were not home made. Good choice for breakfast or lunch. read more

Stopped here westbound to AZ. Plain outside hides a quaint clean place with very friendly owners. Good menu. Many choices. American and Mexican. Prices are good. Portions large. But the food is outstanding. Had breakfast. Fresh eggs. Great bacon. Best hash browns. Good fresh coffee. This place should have a line outside waiting to get in. Definitely stop here and enjoy. Had a great lunch stop on our way to Phoenix. The Mexican food is simple but delicious. The hot sauce is some of the best I've had. The Wednesday special of 3 tacos, rice and beans for 5 bucks can't be beat for value. I especially liked the cheese enchilada with green sauce. The place is cute and a throwback with the old time diner feel to it. Super clean!! Looks like everything was just painted inside and out. Go there on your next road trip through Holbrook. read more

Yum. Four of us ate for $36. Our party had enchiladas (Christmas), tacos, chimichanga (Christmas), and pancakes. We walked out stuffed and happy. Everything tasted great, the service was fast and friendly, and the establishment was clean. This place is about a half mile from the highway and well worth the extra minute to get there. read more

My husband had chili & a hamburger. Thought both were excellant as was the large cornmeal muffin. The only problem was the error of ordering too much food. I had the enchiladas with green sauce. This place was solidly mediocre. Chile relleno was tasty but not freshly fried. Husband had the meatloaf special, which left something to be desired - meatloaf was weirdly sweet and everything was slathered in a serious brown gravy. He called it "lackluster." However, our server was very nice and the place was clean and pleasant. Also, it was cheap! $7.50 for the meatloaf, our whole bill with an iced tea was $16 and change. I'd definitely try it for breakfast, but would probably look elsewhere for dinner. read more

Stopped by on a road trip; couldn't eat inside because the dog was with us. Had a sandwich, it was good, nothing special, but priced good and tasted what you'd expect. They were having an all you can eat fish special, I didn't have it but there sure were a lot of people that looked pretty into it. read more

5 out of 5 for exceeding my expectation way beyond I thought possible. Looks rough around the edges, in the tacky yellow paint on the outside, and the funky smell when you walk in. We picked this restaurant because of a Yelp review and we weren't disappointed. We both had one of the best chicken fried steaks we have ever had! The sides were very good and the gravy was great.
