This was a stop while in town because old town saloon was in the name. The place is charming with a nice old bar, lots of dark wood, piano, fireplace and exposed brick. The bartender didn't watch the very well even though it was a week day afternoon and the place wasn't full at all because my empty glass sat empty longer than it should have. They have food which I don't try because I was going to the deli down the street.

This bar is such a vibe & the staff was super nice. They gave recommendation and I liked everything I tried. The gentleman behind the bar recommended the Espresso Matini stating it's the best in the world. It's good! We got wibgs. They had a few options for flavors for the wings. I enjoyed the buffalo which were crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle! I would grab these again! Brussel sprouts - I wouldn't mind if they were a bit more crispy but still solid. Walleye strips were alright as well.

Fabulous Espresso Martini! And great cheese curds as a snack. Good selection of beer as well

If you are ever in the NE area and are looking for a cheap lunch during the week with decent food and drinks, check this place out! We came in on a Monday and found seating right away at the bar. We were excited about the $5 lunch menu. My friend went with the cheeseburger and I decided to go with the roast beef sliders. The cheeseburger was very basic and straight forward. Nothing mind blowing but for $5, it was still a filling enough lunch. I thought the roast beef sliders were much better and I was surprisingly full from my meal. They have a decent selection of wine, beer, and all the rails you can think of to go with your meal. What we really decided to come back for the cocktail menu. I really enjoyed the pumpkin spiced russian but the drink that really blew us away was the peanut butter cold press. It's strong on the peanut butter and I would love having this along with my brunch or as an after dinner cocktail. Service both times we have been here has been excellent. Street parking only in this area so it can be tough. Plan extra time for parking!

I've been to Whitey's before but never tried the fresh squeezed juice and this time I had a Whitey's Mimosa and had to post about how great this grapefruit juice is! The only reason I'm giving it four and not five stars is that I don't know anything about their food. come for the grapefruit!

I thought the spot was great. I honestly went into it not thinking the food would be good, but I was pleasantly surprised. They had an espresso martini on their menu and that was surprising and it happened to be really good. We tried the burger, which was really good and filling, not the best I've had in the Twin Cities, but it was still good. They also had a crunch wrap supreme and we tried to pickle fries. The pickle fries were OK, I've had better but I thought they were still pretty good. I honestly really like the ambience of the spot. It was lively, it was busy, and there was a cozy fireplace next to where I was sitting, so it was nice and warm. My only qualm is the service was a little slower but I think they might be a little short staffed so just be expecting a wait if you go there on a Friday night. Overall, I really liked the spot and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a cozy neighborhood dive bar spot in the cities.

Good place with excellent food and service. Tried their walleye sandwich which was well made. It came with a selection of sides and I went with the fruit. It came with decent sized fresh pineapple and cantaloupe slices and grapes. Was happy with the quality, quantity and the price.

By far my favorite neighborhood bar in Old Town. Food is excellent, great specials, super friendly staff (even Andy). and love the live music on Tuesday and Sunday nites!

Best damn Cobb salad this side of the river. Spicy buffalo sauce, too!

Looking for an amazing Cubano? Whiteys has the best one I've tasted! And their cream cheese jalapeño wontons are fantastic.

Located inside the Foshay Tower, there's street and valet parking available! We entered through the W hotel lobby and took the elevator up to the 27th floor! We were met by a fun, retro-inspired lounge with many couches and tables available in a 360-degree set up. It has Prohibition-themed decor, but I wouldn't quite call it a speakeasy, as there wasn't any guise to entering or accessing the space. My only critique is that the space is quite dated, but not in a cool way. It could really use an update to the paint and interior to maintain itself as a "destination" versus just another hotel bar with a view. The bartenders were quite friendly and helpful during our visit. We had an Old Fashioned and a Paper Plane during our visit! Both cocktails were absolutely delicious and perfectly made. Now, at around $26 each, I would expect that level. Overall, a cool, historical spot to grab a drink!

Fortunately, the Earth Bowl at Star fits the bill and will probably be a go-to on future trips. It's a nicely seasoned, balanced, and clean-tasting assortment of greens, other vegetables, grains, and optional protein (shrimp was a good choice). And the generous pour of cab sauv complemented it well. Food aside, the space is very inviting and calming (and geometrically interesting, being circular in design), perfect for catching up on some reading during my meal. Service was also pleasant. The only thing is that there wasn't much else on the menu that appealed to me personally, so I'm hoping the bowl isn't something temporary or seasonal. In any case, I look forward to my next visit.

They even have hh in Friday. There's a lot to choose from on the hh menu. My friend and I shared wings, crab cakes, Brussels sprouts, and the whipped feta toast. All were delicious and portions are generous. Wings had a nice crisp and were substantial, not tiny. The whipped feta toast is a sleeper though, and prob the one I enjoyed most. Lots of accoutrements, super tasty. The sidecar was great and so was the Benedictine Manhattan cocktail. Strong but well balanced. We were greeted with a warm and thoughtful welcome, esp considering what's happening in our city rn. Staff were friendly and service was prompt. Nice, upscale ambiance and decor. It makes for a great after work happy hour downtown or a great spot for a more formal date night. Located inside the Indigo hotel. Plenty of on street metered parking on surrounding blocks. I finally went to the bar to ask if we had a server, and the bartender pointed to a staff member on their phone behind the bar. Our waitress eventually came over to take our drink order, but she didn't bother to clear the table or introduce herself. After bringing our drinks, she then informed us dinner service had ended 30 minutes earlier. This information would've been nice to know upfront! The Rooftop Bar is so cute, great views, and has SO much potential because the space itself is great.
