Everything good has been taken out, the old camp store had various souvenirs that were actually meaningful and now the main thing sold is overpriced alcohol, there's not even shave ice anymore. Super cool vibes during the holidays! It is very nice to see festive decorations. Halloween was a hit with aliens, bats and pumpkins. Music was keeping the energy alive. My wife and I frequent the Camp Store and when we saw that Jurassic Beach was coming we booked our granddaughters birthday party. We couldn't have asked for anything better. Bree and her staff made sure the tables were clean and available when we arrived. The area was festive with the interactive exhibit and live music. The food was great and Bree came out with a friend and two Dino baby puppets. They made our guests feel very special and interacted with others in the area. A few years ago when I camped here with friends the store was not open for business. I was informed by the ranger that it was in the midst of being bought out, with the new owners having plans to renovate. I am happy to see The Camp Store is open, revived and thriving. The store inside has some basics necessities if you forgot something, a small selection of souvenirs, even postcards and local city decals, firewood and ice. Like some places you will pay a bit more for the convenience of retrieving what you forgot to pack for camp. They are now open for food, and good food! We haven't tried the pizza yet, but heard good things about it. The last few times we ordered food it took awhile because there was a line of people. There did look like there was any complaints. The people were happy to wait with the beautiful view of the ocean and live music filling the air. The patio is just done beautifully and in the evening with the market lights and lit up umbrella's, it gave a wonderful ambiance. There are 'no dogs zones' in the patio area so watch for the signs. There is plenty of seating areas, but these do fill up quickly. They do have a schedule for live music, which is great to have in the background while you are enjoying good eats! I could see that the owner is less stressed and is happy things are up and running now. You must check the place out if your camping. **** They do not serve coffee at this time**** PS. You must try the churro donuts! Fresh! Take some back to your campsite and have it with some cocoa or coffee. Soooooo delicious. read more

Used to camp here my entire childhood and would always look forward to the camp store. What they've done to it is awful and I was very disappointed. What does dinosaurs and Sasquatch have to do with the beach. The store used to be big and had tons of cute stuff to buy. First, the good: the pizza, although not as crispy as I usually prefer, was outstanding. I avoid pizzas that are overburdened with ingredients because it robs the crust the ability to crisp up, but the crust bits at the end of the slice which weren't influenced by the ingredients were some of the best bites of pizza I can think of in recent memory. The char was out of this world and these guys nail it. I would say a pretty perfect representation of a legit Neapolitan style. We also got a basket of their garlic Parmesan wings, which coincidentally were also some of the best wings I have ever had. They presented beautifully (can wings even present beautifully??) and were delicious. And then there's the view...I mean c'mon... I'm always on the search for an awesome ocean-view restaurant to enjoy a cold beverage on a weekend evening. These views are some of the best in San Diego county. Customer service was great, even though he was all by himself, was efficient and attentive. Now for the part where I would rate this place lower (but decided the good outweighs the bad)- the amount of oil served in the wing basket was craaaazzzyyy. I don't think they even drained the wings before serving them. If something were going to deter you, that might be it. However if you go into eating wings already knowing you're not eating health food, then you won't be phased by this. Bottom line- I don't know how this place has been here for years and I'm just learning how GOOD their food is. These people camping here don't know how good they've got it! I wish I could tell you where to park in order to make your way over here because it's severely limited to non-campers. This place rocks! Great views, the store has a nice selection of snacks, merch, canned and draft beers, and the location can't be beat.

First off this location is prime. We camp at Carlsbad probably monthly and visit The Camp Store every time. We usually grab dinner or drinks, but overall always had good experience. The truffle fries and delicious, and tater tots are an item you can't go wrong with. The pizza is okay, and a bit over priced ($14 for a personal pizza). The hours are wonky but they work for key hours. Music is great. Definitely get there early, but don't be disrespectful and "save" all the tables with your lawn chairs. Either show up and hang out, or just bring your lawn chairs and place them in a spot on the ground. When we came this weekend, someone saved 3 tables almost an hour before any music which left us no where to hang out without ants. Was slightly annoyed but we ended up just going back to RV. It gets super crowded, so just be prepared with chairs if there is music. read more

We stopped by on a Friday night to ensure some music, drinks, and sunset. There is very little parking at the actual campground (5 spots or so and they gave us a temporary parking pass only good for 40 minutes) so most people park across the bridge in the Poinsettia shopping center and walk over. It was packed at all the tables and people were ordering food at the window. We walked inside the store for some ice cream and a beverage. They had a great selection of stocked beers in tall cans and I even saw some people getting bottles of wine. The band was great and we were able to find a small bench to sit on by the water. Next time I'll probably bring my own little chair so we can sit and enjoy the music. read more

So I almost don't want to review this place because it's so amazing and I don't want it to get too packed! Such an awesome spot! You can grab drinks from the store or food and drinks at the window. They have a huge selection. We got pizza and it was awesome! Then you take your drinks and food and get to eat it overlooking the ocean or by a fire pit. How amazing is that! Happy hour on the cliff overlooking the Pacific. If you are not camping onsite, there is 40 minute parking at the check-in station. There is a revolving menu between pizzas and burgers. The hours of operation are not accurate. My daughter and I were getting there at 7PM on a Saturday night and they are closed. Parking is terrible with no parking on site unless you're camping. Located at Carlsbad State Beach Campground, the owners have done an amazing job at making this a premiere gathering spot for locals and visitors alike. Its laid back vibe is an inviting space to relax, unwind, take in the views, listen to live music, eat and drink. Their pizzas are awesome, several beers on tap, along with wine, as well as a nice selection of canned beers, hard seltzers, non alcoholic drinks etc in the refrigerator case. Of course there are camp supplies as well and some Carlsbad merch inside the store. It's all outside seating so prepare/dress accordingly. Several tables are available but with popular live bands, they can fill up by 5. They now offer a few tables by reservation and you can reserve the firepit with 8 chairs as well. You can bring your own chairs and I recommend that if coming after 5:30 on a Friday or Saturday. Food line can get VERY long after 5:30 so try to order early if you can. Parking is an issue so I recommend parking at the northwest corner of the Ralph's shopping center on Avenida Encinas/Poinsettia. It's a short and easy 10 min walk from there. read more

Erratic hours. Owner was tremendously rude when I encountered him previously when camping here. But, I have hope! I don't like to leave negative reviews, but this time, I'm here for the second night at the campground just this week. Last night, headed with a friend just before 7 for food and the kitchen was closed. Bummed. So I came tonight only to discover that the kitchen was closing at 6:15. I was 2nd in line at like, 6:13--guy in front of me was able to order. My turn--6:16, no bueno. Missed money and opportunity, people, when the sun hasn't even set! Consistently disappointed. And with limited parking, feeling super sorry for the people who make efforts to come here only to find out the place is shut down. read more

This place has it all and every bit of it is 5 stars! Did you know you can reserve tables for a nominal fee? I had a family reunion and took 25 people there. Every person had a blast and said it was their favorite part of the trip. Live music, amazing gourmet pizzas (maybe the best in town!), incredible ocean views, plenty of beer and wine choices, kid-friendly, and the staff was an absolute pleasure. I am local and will bring all of my out of town guests to visit. Park in the parking structure across the street at the Cape Rey hotel and walk over.
