Wow!! Blown away by how awesome this place is!! I had no idea this place was there, and what a find!! It has a super cozy atmosphere with the nautical vibe. The drinks were delicious and the bartender was an absolute blast!! It's the kind of place that encourages random people to talk to each other which was really cool. The bartender updates the menu every few months and they have a special fall menu. The pumpkin daiquiri was so yummy I had to get a second one! Loved the Captains Cabin! Secret bar next to Hula's only open on Th, Fr, Sat. Hula's has a parking lot, so no need to worry about finding a spot. We went on a Saturday night and we're able to snag the last table. If possible I wish we would have been able to sit at the bar. It's a lot of fun to watch the drinks being made. It's a one man show, so you have to come in prepared to be patient. The Navy Nog for the Holiday theme was outstanding. Definitely would go back! read more

The only knock I'll give it is that they really only have super sweet fruity drinks. I don't like sweet drinks and the bartender's best recommendation was a Mojito, which is still really sweet. Captain Dave is a great guy who makes a great drink. He's enthusiastic about his craft. His originals are great, his classics are on point, and he's happy to make you something off menu. This is a very small speakeasy style cocktail bar. Maybe seats 25 fully packed. It's often just Dave by himself, so be patient. The drinks are of the Tiki genre. The bar itself is a cozy little ships' cabin. Dark and cozy and comforting. If you try to stop by and find the place packed, wonder on over to Hulas next door and have a snack and a drink while you wait. It's busy but turnover is pretty good. Not that the captain would ever rush anyone; he doesn't. This bar is themed, but not gimmicky or Disney-esque. It's classic more than cute. Sometimes there are special holiday menus, and these are some of my favorites. I'm currently looking forward to Halloween drinks next month. Cheers to the captain! Arousing. Heard about this place from the bartender at Hula's. Didn't even realize it was next door. What a gem! He made me an amazing ogeat lemonade which is a delicious mocktail. It was so layered and delicious, I actually went out to find the almond flavored additive myself. Wasn't as good as his though. My friend had a next level old fashioned. I'll be back for more craft mocktails in the near future. They play great relaxing music and it's a small, intimate, tropical feeling space. It was around Saturday night, 8-ish. Inside there was no one except for the bartender, his friend. My friend and myself. There were about 6 specialty cocktails on the menu. We went with Bourbon drinks .. the Warm Apple Pie. It was delicious and taste exactly how it sounds. We decided to just get one drink and leave because we were bored honestly. Excellent experience. Perfectly laid-back vibe, great nautical (not too tiki) theming, outstanding drinks, and amazing service. This place is a gem and a worthy on par with Last Rites, False Idol, Forbidden Island, and other notable Tiki places. It doesn't have the most extensive rum collection, but it does have an incredible variety of cocktails that are strong, very well-made, and represent a variety of styles both traditional tiki and beyond. It's just the right amount of space, with plenty of opportunity for personal interaction with the "captain" as bartender. You can order appetizers from Hula's and in the meantime get some excellent cocktails. The Navy Grog and the scotch-based cocktail were superb and the other cocktails and food were perfect. Hula's is very smart to offer this as a complement to their regular space, since this really fits the Tiki/rum bar model for rum enthusiasts. Do not go to "Undertow" (we had a bad experience even with a reservation there), come to the Captain's Cabin at Hula's instead. read more

This bar is incredibly nondescript from the outside. All you see is a black wall with a single door with a small window. We wandered in trying to sneak a peak and were welcomed by the bartender immediately. The space is TINY, the space is small and cozy. The details are very old world and comfortable.
