I have eaten here twice since staying at the Hilton. Once for breakfast at the restaurant, and once for breakfast with "room service". The Restaurant - we ended up going with the breakfast buffet. For the cost it was a decent spread with and omelet bar. The food was ok, the service was severely lacking. It was drizzling outside and we could sit under the awning which was disappointing since it's on the water facing the Gulf of Mexico. Room Service - Absolutely awful. We couldn't find a menu online, the restaurant and the front desk was not helpful. We finally were able to get in touch with them being transferred after the phone number in the room and programmed into the phone was incorrect. The food arrived cold in to go boxes, with no spoon which was needed. The Eggs Benedict was rough. Cost $5 for delivery when I could have sent my kid downstairs to save the $5. read more

The location and convenience was the main impetus to try the Carambola this afternoon. We chose to stay in the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa as it's location is amazing and the amenities are great! We came up for a late breakfast but missed that by six minutes and rules are rules... (rolled eyes) so.... Lunch it is...! Wifey got She Crab Soup and was happy; I was stoked with a very tasty Cuban Sandwich (pictured). They just can't seem to replicate it outside of Cuba and/or Florida...! This place was near perfect. Come enjoy the sugar sands on the Gulf of Mexico and whether staying at the Hilton or not, consider it a viable option for great food and service while in Clearwater Beach, FL! read more

The Carambola is the restaurant in The Hilton at Clearwater Beach. It does not make sense to eat here unless you are a hotel guest or you really need food and there are no other options. We did eat here for dinner on our stay at the Hilton. I got the Strawberry spinach salad which was nice and my husband got the Steak with Brussels sprouts and potatoes. We also ordered a bottle of wine. Our server was delightful! We sat outside with a view of the ocean which was also very nice: There is just something about the food, the decor, the menu prices that scream, we really don't want you to eat here but if you do it's going to cost you and arm and a leg for something you could have gotten at a place that is a restaurant not a hotel and had a much better experience. Our meal was fine, large check, we were one of the only couples or families eating there as most had gone to the many restaurants at the beach. Sure works if you're hungry and don't have options though. read more

Delicious food and wonderful service at the Hilton's restaurant , all three meals were outstanding and service was just the same as our servers Brooke and Melody took great care and just great customer service. The had both indoor and outside seating which was perfect to watch the sunset and get that beautiful view. They also had a bar service so of course we had late night cocktails our bartender made some fantastic drinks so while staying at the Hilton or just go by and enjoy this wonderful restaurant with its terrific food and service will definitely return as it's our new favorite place to stay in Clearwater. read more

Sara was awesome and amazing an attentive, I wish there were more servers like her. We ordered drinks and split a cheeseburger. She acted like we were the most important clients, VIP, it was wonderful. This restaurant was at our hotel so we thought why not try it! MISTAKE! We came in the middle of the day wasn't that crowded and we sat down and waited for 25 mins with NO menu no water not even 1 waiter acknowledged us. I ended up going to hostess stand to literally take a menu myself. Eventually a waiter who wasn't even assigned to our area came over and served us and apologized. The food was ok. The manager of this restaurant seriously needs to train their staff and hire more. read more

Since we were staying at the Hilton, we wanted to drop in for the buffet breakfast. Options were plentiful, from scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, French toast to a yogurt bar. Food is good -- exactly what you'd expect. Problem is the price. At $26/person, it's not worth it when there are not just better, but OUTSTANDING breakfast options that incorporate local flavor (seafood, Cuban, etc.) at a much better price just down the road. Let me start out by saying I don't normally complain, but when I do it's justified. So here's my take on this restaurant: 1. The food was okay. The portion sizes were very small. I ordered the Grouper sandwich and thought they forgot the fish because the filet was so small it was hiding under the lettuce. For $18 I would expect way more. That said, the small amount I did eat was good. 2. The service was terrible. It took 20 min for someone to take our drink order. 40 min to get our food and without exaggeration there was only three full tables total in the entire restaurant (both in and out). We had to ask for refills numerous times. Remind them of things they forgot to bring us. When we asked for refills on two waters and iced tea (it took 15 min to get them) and they never brought the tea. 3. They served us a cold hamburger, stale chips as a side with nothing to dip it in (no salsa, no nothing). The ranch tasted very cheap. Overall the best thing about this place is the outdoor view. Wouldn't coming back - over priced for sure. read more

Ya know, for a hotel restaurant I *had* pretty low expectations: high price, mediocre food. HOWEVER, The Carambola actually blew me out of the water. This review will be focused on their lunch menu, but will briefly touch on their breakfast selection. Lunch (4/5): I was thoroughly impressed with their appetizers, especially the coconut shrimp! Even though there's only 5 on a plate, I got it twice. What is so unique about it is the fact that they serve it over a sweet Thai chili sauce AND Thai peanut sauce. Best combo EVER! The entrees come with the option of chips, fries, or side salad. Just bite the bullet and get their waffle fries. So good. It's a combo of Arby's curly fries and Chick-fil-A's fries!!! I love that they have low calorie options as well. Caribbean Conch Fritters were pretty good - think of it as hush puppies. Lump crab cakes were also very tasty! Now the Cuban Sandwich was pretty hefty, a little salty for my taste but my boyfriend loved it. Turkey burger was a little questionable for me because of the flavor/smell, but it was passable for a low calorie option. I think my boyfriend's lobster roll was okay as well. Dessert: we only had it once, but we got the Key Lime Pie tart -- so good! If their other desserts live up to that standard, I'm sure the other desserts will be just as good. Breakfast (3/5): includes your typical Hilton continental breakfast such as yogurt, fruit, milk, breads, etc. Then it includes the "hot" breakfast bar which includes scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage links, omelette bar, cheese blitz (? Forgot what it was called, it's an excuse to eat cheesecake for breakfast. It's a mini crepe/egg roll thing with cream cheese), and French toast. They charge $4/person if you get items from there. Apparently, if you're a Hilton diamond member they still charge you...? I should've asked for my clarity on that lol. Anyways, the highlight of breakfast for me were the omelettes but that was it. They randomly included dragonfruit in the fruit section which I've never seen before. Nice seats, open area with the hotel bar a couple steps away and the view of the patio opening up to the beautiful, white sandy beach. TLDR: get the appetizers read more

Carambola is a restaurant located inside of the Hilton Clearwater Beach Hotel. Carambola serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. First time visiting Carambola - was for lunch. I had a soup and salad: the Conch soup (a tomato based Conch soup) - very thick, more like a stew, and very tasty. And then a Mixed Greens salad with seared Ahi Tuna. Very light and tasty. The next morning I had breakfast here, I opted for the Breakfast Buffet, which includes custom omelettes. I ordered an omelette with spinach, mushrooms, onions, sausage, and Monterey Jack cheese. The omelette was well made and flavorful. From the buffet I selected some bacon and a biscuit with sausage gravy. Sausage gravy was a bit bland, added a bit of black pepper and hot sauce to give it some flavor. The biscuit was the wrong texture - they should be flaky. I'm guessing this is due to how the biscuits are stored in a steam based table on the buffet. Also had a glass of V-8 juice and coffee. I will ding them for having a lousy selection of hot sauce - as ONLY the green Tabasco Jalapeño hot sauce. Service was good. read more

A bit salty. -Calamari (7/10) - Good portion but batter was flavorless -Fish Taco (4/10) - Fish was groupers I believe. I have stayed in many Hilton's and I was very excited to try out the restaurant but the terrible service ruined it for me. I didn't even have a chance to order. My partner and I spent 30 minutes seated with out the waitress coming by. She then yelled across the room that "I don't serve that far". We eventually moved closer and she said that she will bring a menu but never returned after 15 mins. She may have been busy but there could have been multiple nicer ways to handle it. read more

We are locals trying to support the businesses and we were approached by the restaurant staff with rules..now the waitress was awesome and very nice. If you have rules post them so others can see, don't slam or dictate them forward to customers like they are in the wrong when they have no idea. So. $9 for a vegetarian option of the soup of the day - "Minimal" Minestrone Soup. It was watered-down after being taken from the can to make it stretch and fill the coffee cup they served it in. Underwhelmed is an understatement for this lunch. Oh, and while we sat here we watched the bartender polish glasses before putting them away.......by breathing into them then drying them with the towel. One after another. So I recommend getting shots if you're gonna order drinks so the alcohol will kill whatever bugs he might be carrying. read more

My family and I visited the Carambola restaurant several times while staying at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa. They had a wonderful breakfast. They offered us a choice of a Continental breakfast or a full buffet style breakfast. We experienced both and both were great. We also had lunch once and another day we had dinner. Both meals were served hot. Although all my meals were great, my wife had the cauliflower appetizer that she described as "just OK". She really enjoyed the hummus appetizer. I had a great club sandwich. However, the best items I tasted were the Boom-Boom Shrimp and the She Crab soup, they were superb. The staff were great, though it was obvious they were short-staffed. Drinks are sub par. When you are staying at the Hilton your safe choices to drink and roam are limited. We went twice. We ordered the charcuterie, thinking it would be as magnificent as the one at The Hilton in Carillon Park. Nope!! It was definitely not worth $22! The bread choice wasn't even one that you could put your meats and cheeses on. You can order a dirty martini and get two olives and it satisfies you more than this charcuterie! God forbid if a large group comes to the bar because you will then be ignored due to little to no staff present to help out. We never once saw a restaurant manager stepping in or anything. Running 4 restaurants out of one kitchen maybe biting off more than this location can chew! We visited during "Slow" season. I would only think busy season let's fresher food options be more available. One day, while on the beach, we did order the nachos. Ummmm yeah don't do that! Chips were stale and the pico de gallo looked old enough to throw away and start fresh. Our room view will always be the only reason that I want to return read more

So the hotel tricks you by giving you a free continental breakfast voucher if you do xyz. What you don't know is this is only for "non-hot foods," meaning bagels, cereal and fruit. It's an extra $4 (which isn't that bad, of course) to get the hot bar which includes omelettes, biscuits, French toast, bacon, sausage, etc. Hot bar was good, nothing special. The lox over by the fruit table looked expired and discolored, though. Coffee was good, orange juice seemed fresh. Waitress was wonderful. Hostess seemed uninterested. read more

The breakfast buffet is terrible. For $24 they should be ashamed. The fresh batch of scrambled eggs they brought out right in front of me was cold. The milk for cereal was warm. I approached the omlette maker just as he or she (couldn't tell for sure) coughed without covering it's mouth all over the bowls of ham, cheese, veggies, etc. that would be used in my omlette so I scrapped that idea. The waitress said we could also order waffles or pancakes from the kitchen so I requested the blueberry waffles. I got plain waffles, and they were extra plain with a lack of flavor I hadn't known was possible before this. To try to add flavor I got some under ripe mango slices from the buffet but that didn't help either. The microwaved bacon was ok I guess. If I hadn't been given free breakfast coupons by the hotel to make up for something they goofed up I'd have refused to pay. 2 days later we had breakfast at a hotel in Orlando that blew this place away, and it was free with the room ... the room that cost the same as breakfast for 4 at Carambolas. read more

For breakfast here the buffet spread is absolutely amazing and the team that works there are equally great. Lunch and dinner menu are fairly the same and has alittle of everything you could want . Every day the chef comes up with a new featured dish which has always been amazing. Overall this restaurant has always been very accommodating and great food for a great price read more

The margarita was good but we were served some type of shark or fill in fish instead of the grouper we ordered. (We are both native Floridians and know fish!) That would be one thing if it was still good but it was tough and tasteless. Our server uncorked a $142 bottle of wine when my husband clearly pointed and had more than one verbal exchange with him about the $64 bottle of wine he wanted. We ended up paying only the $64 but that was only after the manager got involved and argued a great deal with us. We are used to the impeccable food and service at the Pensacola Beach Hilton, as well as other Hiltons we've experienced, and were quite disappointed with this property. read more

We wanted to go have a lunch in Clearwater Beach so I figure the Hilton must have a world class restaurant. Boy was I mistaken. My honey had the fish tacos... 1-5 a 3. I had the Reuben. How can you screw up a Rueben? Well they did. First off the corn beef was not fresh nor was there enough on the rye. Must have been only 2 ounces maybe. Sauerkraut was dry which it should be. Light on the thousand island sauce again as it should be. Overall.... SUCKED. And the server, didn't know the menu. Said was his third day. REALLY... When I ran my restaurant I gave a new hire the menu. Had them come back in a week to take a knowledge test on the menu items. If they passed 80% of the 25 questions they got put on the schedule. If not I sent them home and said come back in a week do it again. Do or die. So needless to say my servers knew most of the menu before they got on the floor, plus they were shadowed for three shifts. So for $12.50 for the sandwich I expect more. And that more is quality not quantity. If it were one bite and tasted out of this world then it would have been worth the $12.50. Even the fish tacos were prepared half way. The greens were wilting.
