I had the opportunity to visit Beachcomber's during my friend's rehearsal dinner while I was in the Tampa area. Unfortunately, I arrived a little late and missed the appetizers, but I was still able to enjoy a great meal and excellent service. For my entrée, I ordered the filet mignon cooked medium and added a lobster tail. The filet was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The lobster tail was good, though nothing particularly memorable compared to other lobster dishes I've had. What really stood out was the service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and did a fantastic job taking care of our large group. You could tell they paid attention to the little details, which made the evening feel special. The true star of the meal, however, was the key lime pie. I'm back home in Chicago and still thinking about it! It had the perfect balance of tart and sweet and was easily my favorite part of the entire dining experience. Overall, Beachcomber's provided a wonderful atmosphere, great service, and a memorable meal. If you visit, do yourself a favor and save room for the key lime pie. read more

We are local and have been coming here for years and the food, service and piano has always been fantastic. After the hurricanes things were tough on all of us to recover and the restaurant industry is very challenging as it is with rising costs. That said, there were some less than great experiences for a period of time based on reviews. In the last couple months, reviews are improving and we recently had a fantastic experience so I was compelled to write this review. We ordered two filets, asparagus, and a bottle of wine. Filets were a good size and cooked perfect. My husband said it was the best steak he has had in a long time. While pricey, the quality of the meat was excellent and it is nice they add the bernaise sauce with the meal. Wine list is huge with a variety of price points. It would be nice to see a couple more appetizers options or even a cheese tray to go with the wine. The bartender and staff were excellent. We will be back soon! read more

Our favorite dishes are the filet and the scallops. Everything was cooked to perfection. Live music that could easily be heard throughout the dining room without being too loud. I was there for my daughter's Bday ; the filet mignon was dry as a rock and when replaced with a clam chowder a piece of parchment paper was found in the soup. My boyfriend and I went there for the first time to celebrate our anniversary because it was recommended by a friend and I can say it'll be our last time going there. First off, they make you place reservations yet allow walk-ins straight from the beach (big groups too). Secondly, the waiter was absolutely terrible!! He single-handedly targeted my boyfriend, Tried to belittle him, and completely ignored him (would only talk to me). We were recommended this place because of its "amazing chicken" which is titles on the website! yet When my boyfriend asked for it, the waiter said he couldn't do it because it's for 12 and under, Look him straight in the face and said "it's not worth it." When we told the waiter that our friends have come to that restaurant for the chicken, he said that they were lying. Which is funny because a walk-in family sat behind us and their waiter recommended the chicken.... Their prices are ridiculous for the little amount of food you get which is basic! So food and service aren't there so you're pretty much paying for the ambience which is nice (The live piano was great) But not enough to keep going to that place! read more

Wriring this review is heartbreaking. My family has dined at the Beachcomber for close to 40 years (my husbands family for over 60!), and eating there was always the highlight of the trip. In fact, many years we would venture the 3 hours across the State just to go the Beachcomber! Before dining there last night we were warned that things had changed....I guess we should have listened. The first sign that things had changed was that no one was there. In the past if you didn't have a reservation you would surely wait for at least an hour, but we never mined because we knew the food and service, the ambiance, was worth the wait. When we arrived there was literally no one there, not in either dining room or the bar. There even wasn't anyone in Bobby's Bistro (which is no longer the local hangout, as it once was). I will say that, thankfully, the service is still top notch.....but that cannot makeup for the sad "Dailey" a la carte menu or the shocking overall bill. In the past, the antiquated relish tray was part of the "Beachcomber" experience, but one that the family looked forward to. Our daughters loved the breads also served and we often ordered extra to take back to the condo. The menu always highlighted superior culinar options, especially the Grouper or the old school Southern Fried Chicken dinner, which the children loved. Of course, we always started the meal with the fabulous soup of the day. In fact we often reminisced and hoped that the clam chowder was on the menu. I certainly understand that times change and that people's tastes do as well, but after leaving the restaurant last night we were all somewhat depressed. Everyone mentioned that, "It was an end of an era." We all wondered how long before the piano player was no longer there to enhance the dining experience. Lastly, the minuscule menu and exorbitant cost sealed their fate for us. After decades of going to Heilman's we doubt we will be returning. read more

Beachcomber is a great spot and nice change of pace on Clearwater Beach. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. As for food my wife had the seafood platter, and she loved it. The seasoning was just right--not overpowering but really brought out the flavor of the fresh seafood. I had the fried chicken, and they nailed it. The batter was crispy, the chicken was juicy, and the gravy was spot on. Even the asparagus was cooked perfectly. Make sure to save room for the Baked Alaska--it's worth it. We ordered the two lobster tails and the surf and turf with broccoli and hollandaise sauce on top and mashed potatoes. The lobsters were good. The filet minion was a little dry. The dark and moody elegance of the building really set the vibe which was also added to by the pianist who played popular melodies and songs for the guests. Service was great, attentive, but also gave us time in between apps, salad, and our entrees. We loved the atmosphere so much we spent almost 2 hours drinking a bottle of wine from their extensive wine menu! They have over 200 bottles and a selection of by the glass wines as well. I got the surf and turf and it was absolutely to die for, as a new englander I was praying that the Maine lobster tail would actually do it justice and it hit all the spots! This restaurant caught our eye on our morning walk. We wanted a nice Saturday night restaurant for a group of ladies. Well ... Milty "our genie" made all of our wishes come true! This food was seriously good - very definitely some of the best scallops I've ever had. The steaks were done perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was literally the best I have ever tasted. The baked potatoes were as big as our heads and delicious. The seafood platter was mouthwatering and done perfectly. The wine list is nice and has a taste and price point for everyone. Improvements - please up the cocktail game. The old fashioned was not good. When you get a cocktail and then upgrade of liquor making an $18 drink - you should at least have Luxor cherries. TRUST THE BAD REVIEWS. This is my first review, which means this was a horrendous experience, New Years Eve to make it worse. - Had a reservation for 5, we were crammed into a table for 4. Not a great start, especially when you're punched in the face with a foul/musty smell once you walk in. I asked for an extra chair that we could place at the end of the table to make it more comfortable, but the front of house staff kindly let us know that there was not 1 extra chair in the restaurant. Really??? - We asked if there was a kids menu when making this reservation, when they let my wife know "YES" we expected it would be more than just chicken tenders. Served with what tasted like instant potatoes, if they were fresh, the potatoes were under cooked, under seasoned, and completely underwhelming. Also worth mentioning that not once, when making the reservation, confirming it, nor on the website, does it mention that there would be a limited NYE dinner menu of overpriced, uninspired, pre-cooked crap. - The 3 adults in our party all ordered the 8oz filet (your choice of beans OR crap potatoes). This place doesn't believe in seasoning, no salt, no pepper. The salt couldn't come out of the salt shaker fast enough to put enough seasoning on that piece of meat to make it edible. This entire dining experience felt like every piece of this meal was pre-cooked. Nothing came to our table hot. Steak tasted and felt like it was seared earlier and warmed up for service....try imagining a microwaved steak feel and flavor. This place has that "institution" vibe for locals, a nostalgic place to go, but the food is terrible. The service was mediocre. HORRIBLE! It was over 87 degrees, and I was with my mom and my 12-year-old little brother while we waited for my dad to find parking since we had been dropped off. My brother, who was overheated, sat down on a chair outside, and the owner came out with an attitude. She rudely asked, "Can I help you?" we would have moved immediately without any issue, but instead, she continued making snarky comments. When we pointed out that she was being rude, she responded, "Oh, you don't know how rude I can be," and sarcastically added, "Oh yeah, I'm SUCH a bitch," "Move Along." My family and I were extremely upset by this encounter. If she had simply been polite, we would have gladly moved and even planned to try their food. But because of the owner, Sheri, we will never visit this place again. To make matters worse, as we were leaving, a nice man walking by commented, "Food smells great," and Sheri yelled at him, "I'M ON THE FUCKING PHONE, GO AWAY"Whatever you do, DO NOT go to this restaurant. Came here for Thanksgiving dinner and I'm glad we did. The evening started off a little rocky, as they lost the reservation I made last week. But-they did get us in a little bit later and it was worth the wait. I ordered the traditional thanksgiving dinner, which was incredible. My wife ordered the filet minion with lobster tail and my son got the chicken tenders, like always. Before the main course we had the escargot and shrimp cocktail. The Escargot was delicious-albeit a different preparation than I've had in the past. Everything was delicious. The service was attentive and the pumpkin pie dessert was a definite highlight on top of the already delectable cuisine. We'll definitely be back when we return to Clearwater Beach. read more

I was with a group of over 20 while in town. But I must say I was impressed with their level of service. And my meal was quite basic. I had the French Onion soup with the fried shrimp and fries. But I will say the shrimp was some of the best shrimp I've had in a while. I'm not an expert on gulf shrimp but I have to imagine this is what it is supposed to be. And I loved the soup. Nothing wowed me to the point of it being a gourmet experience. But it was a very solid and satisfying meal. read more
