What could be better than sandwiches, scones and cakes, washed down with champagne and a few pots of tea? Not much, let's be honest.
The Carnaby host a great afternoon tea. I started with a peach and ginger black tea, with one of the nicest glasses of champagne I've ever had.
When the food arrived, there was a fairly solid choice of sandwiches; salmon, cream cheese & cucumber, ham & mustard, and Turkey & cranberry
Then there were the scones (rhymes with dons) smothered in luscious clotted cream and strawberry jam.
The cakes were nice enough but not spectacular. There was a ginger cake, a lemon fairy cake and a chocolate biscuit. There was also a little berry compote thing which was a nice little bonus.
My sister-in-law is pretending to be a Vegan for the month so her choice was a lot more limited than the rest of us. The really helpful waitress arranged for some hummus and grilled vegetable sandwiches and a fruit salad instead. A really great bit of customer service.
Overall a really lovely afternoon, one I'd definitely recommend! read more
