    La Galbi with Steamed Egg
    Natasha H.

We stopped by Cast Iron Pot on our way back from a weekend trip to PA and were starving! I'd heard about their Flushing location but didn't realize they had one in New Jersey, so we decided to give it a try. The service was awesome--super friendly and on top of everything. They've got a great selection for the all-you-can-eat menu, and the price ($42.95 per person) felt fair for what you get. We ordered the beef brisket, pork belly, butter squid, and LA galbi. The brisket and LA galbi were hands-down our favorites--so good! The only downside was that they don't serve banchan, which I usually look forward to at Korean BBQ spots. But they do start you off with a salad that has a really tasty dressing, so that made up for it a bit. Overall, great food, great service, and we'd definitely come back

This place never fails to hit the spot. The meat quality is good, menu has expanded with lots of good new options, and the service is great. The tayaki was amazing - order a side of rice to enjoy with your meat as well! The tteokbokki was delicious, consistency and flavor on point. Nice space between tables and the music is fun.

Celebrated my son's birthday at The Cast Iron Pot ! Made reservations for: Party of six. Awesome vibes! Attentive staff! Korean barbecue feast! Everything was delicious! Loved the fried rice, bulgogi and dumplings!! Highly recommend! Parking on site.

THE SERVICE IS FRAUDULENT!! we had dinner menu during lunch time, and the lady serving us was persistent for a tip. The bill was $85 including tax, I left a $10 tip which should add up to $95. Later I see my card get charged $102.75. THATS A $17 TIP WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION. I later calculated it and they tipped themselves 20% of the bill. Absolutely ridiculous. ALSO the lady serving us was very rude and expects a tip from bad service?

This is a nice AYCE spot! It was pretty spacious inside and it definitely gets a bit more busy during the dinner hours. I thought it was kind of expensive, but the meat was pretty good. The service was also great. My friends and I ordered Pork Belly, Marinated Pork Rib, Beef Thin Brisket, and Beef Bulgogi. I had never seen a grilling plate as big as the one at the Cast Iron Pot, but I think it worked really well because the meats came out in huge portions. None of the meats were sticking to the grill, which was nice. The Pork Belly and Beef Thin Brisket were really juicy. I was also impressed with the marinade on the Beef Bulgogi. The Marinated Pork Rib was also quite tender. I also ordered a Steamed Egg, but I thought it was okay. It kind of dried up and it was not as soft and savory as I had wanted. Overall, I would come back here again!

Selection of meat is kinda limited. Quality is standard. I don't know I just didn't feel very satisfied after eating lol. Oh and if you want to park in the restaurant's parking lot, you have to pay, which is ridiculous. So you have to do street parking.

Coming from a getaway to the Soja Spa, we were in the mood for some KBBQ nearby before heading into NYC. We found this spot on yelp and decided to give it a try. Now for a AYCE establishment, for the money i thought it was great. We made it right in time before kitchen last call 20 min later. The place reminded me of an American BBQ style restaurant with long tables and metal chairs. It was roomy and plenty of space for your meats. The boss lady of the establishment would come and recommend that you order 3 proteins at a time and see if you can finish before ordering more (i think there's a charge for wasted food but i don't remember for sure) We got the thin sliced beef (which turned out to be hot pot beef) that cooked real fast so keep and eye out on your beef pile. I enjoyed spicy pork the most and the pork belly cuts were a no frills natural taste. Just the right amount of fat haha For two people, 4 dishes of meat, a rice sides, a glutinous rice flour desert, and two ice cream fruit bars later we were stuffed and needed to take 15 min before driving. Give it a go if you're in the area by the jersey border. I wouldn't consider this upscale but quick & easy AYCE for a good price point.

I stumbled upon this place and was intrigued by their AYCE! This place is great bang for your buck, in terms of AYCE, and they are not stingy with the meats either. This KBBQ place is a little different from other BBQ places I have been to because the cuts of meat. I was surprised by the hot pot meats for the beefs but nonetheless, I still enjoyed the meal. The workers also help you cook the meat and cut up meat, as well. It does get busy late at night it seems when we went at around 10 pm. I totally recommend the Cast Iron Pot to anyone looking for an inexpensive, tasty meal that fills your stomach without running your pockets.

Food was perfect. We went as a group of 7, but were seated almost instantly during prime dinner hours. The atmosphere is good, a little loud with other tables but not too bad. They play Kpop and other Korean music videos on the screens, and its good for entertainment. Limits of 5 meat types per order, but that was enough for us. The server cooked the meat for us, and made sure to portion it for all 7 of us. Meat comes out pretty quick and is quite good. Service is also really good and they even offered additional karaoke vouchers afterwards. My favorite was the beef intestines and the garlic cube steak. it was very flavorful and had a great taste. The other meats we tried were also pretty good. For side dishes, we got the rice cake and dumplings, which were good compliments. They didn't overwhelm the meat or fill us up so we had enough space for the meat. Definitely would recommend again.

Had a good experience for dinner. The red itself is very casual and low key. The food was delicious, great flavor and cooked to perfection right at our table. Though the service was decent, we were lucky to snag a table since there is generally a wait. The two-hour table time limit kept things moving. Their soju cocktails were a delightful addition, perfectly complementing the savory dishes. One thing to note is that ordering for the table can be a bit challenging if everyone has different preferences on proteins and sides. Overall, a great Korean bbq experience.

Came here for dinner on a saturday night with a group. It was busy, but we were seated really quickly, especially since we didn't have a reservation. I've done all you can eat Korean bbq before, but this place actually has the servers cooking the meat for you as opposed to you doing it yourself. The table already comes with kimchi, bean sprouts, and broccoli as well as salt, sweet jalapeño soy sauce, and soybean paste, which they put on the cast iron as soon as you're seated. You have 90 minutes to dine, and they bring the check promptly as you get towards the end of the 90 minutes. Everyone at the table must order the same meat, and you do 3 at a time. The meat comes out pretty quickly. Our server So, it was really nice and informative about the menu. The marinated meats were delicious. I enjoyed the fried dumplings. They were unlike any dumplings i've had before. They looked like mini empandas. As my drink, i had the strawberry melona cocktail, which is soju, flavoring, and a melona (korean) popsicle. If you like sweet dessert-like drinks, then you'll like it. F.y.i if there is a lot of food leftover, there is a 30% surcharge. So i would come with an empty stomach. Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience and would come back again.

I was hoping they would have galbi but they didn't. All your can eat Korean BBQ. They get pretty busy during prime dinner time. You are able to order 3 meats at a time for the table. The pork belly portion is HUGE! The pork belly is cut extremely thick. The garlic cubed steak was okay, but I didn't love the marinade. The steak was tender. The buttered squid was cooked perfectly. The cast iron steak was a bit too chewy. The steamed egg was over cooked... almost was like a quiche. You are served bottled water which they do not charge for.

Ask the Community - The Cast Iron Pot

Do they discount if it's your birthday?

No, but they'll play Happy Birthday vis Youtube and blast it throughout the restaurant.

    Does outdoor dining have heaters?

Do they serve alcohol or is it BYOB?

Cast Iron I used to have a bar inside so it wasn't BYOB. But they open Cast Iron II without a bar and people were doing BYOB. Due to COVID, they are only operating Cast Iron I with dining outside. I didn't see anyone order any drinks so I doubt the… Read more

    Is the restaurant open now?

Yes it is for outdoor seating.

Does anyone know if they are currently open?

Is it weird to go alone for lunch?

It is not weird at all. We do have many customers that love it so much that they will come on their lunch hour alone. We look forward to serving you.

Is this safe for someone who has peanut and seafood allergies?

I would say no it is not safe, but I would call prior to going there. Generally the sauces are usually infused with some peanut base ingredients

Is this restaurant suitable for toddler's?

Hi. I would say yes. I am not sure about high chairs but the place has a fun friendly environment and everyone talks so it is not a fancy quiet restaurant that a toddler would not be happy with. Only thing is food gets cooked when ordered so if… Read more

How does the AYCE work? Is every guest charged, even if they don't eat or order? Is there a charge per entry?

I believe it is charged for entry, since they dont really keep track of how much each person eats. It's around $25 per person and you can keep ordering until you are all full (be warned theres a surcharge for leftover food).

My friend is allergic to shellfish, nuts and dairy will he be able to eat anything there?

They have other options besides seafood, and I didn't have anything that had nuts or dairy. Rice and and non marinated meats should be ok. The meats that are marinated might be questionable. But if she has a severe allergy to she'll fish I don't… Read more

One of my friend is allergic to sesame oil, is there any meat that she can have?

Yes the plain ones , not bulgogi style. Plain meat is just salt and pepper. However, the dip on the aide is sesame oil. Your friend might want to bring her own dipping sauce. Pick up some tamari sauce or coconut amino sauce.

I'm going for my friends birthday BUT I am a vegetarian. Is it possible to just get charged for rice and vegetables? Or would I have to do the all you can eat option?

They will charge the entire table regardless.

    Is it BYOB?

NO, we have a liquor license with a full service bar.

Will they do smaller portions so we can try more meats?

yes, just tell your server that you would like smaller portions because you want to try more things on the menu.

    Is it BYOB?

We have a full bar which serves on the weekend all mixed drinks, beer, wine & soju. During the week they serve Beer, Wine and Soju. We have a second location, 320 Bergen Blvd. Fairview, NJ 07022, that is a BYOB.

Is it true they don't serve lettuce leaves or the (required, in my case) red soy paste for the beef bulgogi?

Not the traditional lettuce leaves but they give a yummy salad and they do give a paste

How much is ur weekend lunch?

    Around $17 for AYCE

    Can I make reservations?

Only for groups of 10 or more people.

If I get here at 2:30, will I still get the lunch special?

I don't see why not....but i guess you have to order right away. I'd call them

I had no idea this place was a chain until we sat down and saw the other locations on the placemats! My cousin and I came here last night (a Sunday) around 6:30 for a comforting bite. There weren't too many people here, so we were seated right away. A few servers interchanged and took our order, refilled our tea, and took our requests with easy smiles. SGD's main attraction is their tofu stew - a customizable soup that comes serves in a literal cauldron. Being that this was SGD's specialty, we knew we had to try. I opted for the spicy beef tofu stew with hot stone rice - it came piping hot, and continued to boil for a good 15 minutes before it became drinkable. The stew has a lovely flavor and was brimming with silky tofu. The beef was a little on the skimpy side - I would have liked more, but it was still tasty. I also would have liked to have seen some mix-ins be offered with the soup - such as sesame oil, green onions, etc. - to really make the flavors pop. However, it was tasty for what it was. The addition of a fresh cracked egg and the various pickled vegetables on the side really made the meal memorable. In addition, we ordered chicken bulgogi and it was absolutely fabulous - I actually liked it better than the soup and will definitely be back here to try. This is a no-frills space for good Korean food. I can't wait to go back!

Finally got to try this place I heard so much about on a Christmas day with wife because it was…read morefrigid and we wanted a warm bowl of Korean "tang"(soup). Finding parking is quite challenging given the location on a busy commercial street, so make sure you can come earlier than meal time to have better luck. They have waiting seats OUTSIDE so yeah I suppose it's quite popular at times. 1. ATMOSPHERE (3/5) - This location is small and it's pretty straightforward place. But I still found it cozy, with decent amount of seating (I think it can handle 15-20 max) and little details like wall with wood ledges and coat hangers were a nice touch. Seating was comfortable, though we tied our down parkas around our waist as another party had hung theirs on our side of coat hangers. 2. FOOD (4/5) - We dove right in to try their famous gejang (~Korean raw crab "ceviche") and ordered two of their namesake gookbap (rice with soup) to see how they are. Here's how it went down. - Gejang (App, $20, 2/5) - I had a hunch that on a holiday perhaps I should not order this, but my craving for succulent crab flesh be damned, I went for it and unfortunately, the meat was not well-marinated as I had feared. Gejang is a dish that has to sit in the complex soy-based pickling liquid for some time... and if restaurant is too busy churning them out or if it's slow season they won't do this properly. It not only wasn't fully marinated, I think the marinade was off because the spiciness was way out of balance and was overpowering. Perhaps knowing that it didn't have enough time to marinade the kitchen put extra diced jalapenos to compensate? Because that's exactly what it tasted like - you can't fool me. I tried to salvage the dish by asking a confused-looking girl server for some sugar, but yeah, can't un-do the overpowered marinade with sprinkling of sugar. This was really unfortunate as I was looking forward to a good bite. - Ahjae Gookbap (Main, $18, 5/5) - Thankfully, their namesake gookbap was spot-on to salvage our dining. Generous slabs of succulent beef on the bone and off the bone was swimming in a hearty beef/bone broth that tasted clean and focused. Portion was good, and can I say their banchan of fish cake moochim & unfermented kimchi & ggakdugi(radish kimchi) simply ROCKS? That was some serious deliciousness and dare I say value at $18 at a day and age where hamburger costs over $10! You win at life by ordering this! 3. SERVICE (4/5) - Our server girl was attentive and food came out early on though later it was a bit hard to get her attention promptly. We found ourselves putting hands in the air, and wavin' like we don't care... for a little while. They provide gloves & metal bin for gejang which was a nice touch for people to keep their fingers clean. One thing I'd like to mention: Plastic cup they served water in was all chipped on the rim so we instead went and got water from their hot & cold water dispenser which had metal cups (as many korean restaurants do). I'd suggest them to replace all these old plastic cups with metal ones for health reasons. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal. I'd chock up the gejang mishap to it being a holiday. I hope chef was just off with the marinade that day because I am a certified gejang pro(I catch and make my own) and that balance ain't it. But I will give it another try during warmer month and we'll definitely be back to try sooyook moochim, oyster jeon & other great soup offerings.

Ordered three things: 1) marinated crabs, small size (5/5). Always a must-get here. 2) ddukbaegi bulgogi (4.5/5) - Thinly sliced prime marinated beef ribeye casserole with rice cake and glass noodle and mushroom served in a sizzling hot pot. Really flavorful and so good to have on a cold day. 3) ahjae ppyo jjim (4.5/5) - Braised prime beef meat bones in soy reduction with carrots, radish, dates, chestnut, rice cake and glass noodles. We got non-spicy. It came in a HUGE bowl. Definitely meant to be shared with a group. Took leftovers home and it was still yummy the next day mixed with knife-cut noodles I had at home.
