I had the large Fried Oyster basket. I would've liked a couple more oysters for the price. The breading on the oysters was way too salty that I couldn't taste the freshness of the oyster. Came in about 2p on a Sunday. When I go here it wasn't too busy. I wanted to order boudin balls but they didn't have any. When the girl at the counter told me so it was as if they had a written sign and I just decided to ask anyway.. strike one. I ordered the 4 Jumbo shrimp and 2 Farm raised catfish. They also serve the frozen drinks free! When my order came it was only the shrimp and I told the girl bringing out the food that I was missing fish. They only sent one so I had to show my receipt that I actually ordered 2. At this point I'm irritated. The food is good but service definitely can be better if they learn to pay attention. read more

This is the worst by far I have experienced in a long time. I went there at Amir afternoon so there was not but a few customers there. Therefore the excuse could not be they were busy"Very overpriced. Food is so small compared to even the least of the seafood places. They spent practically zero dollars on decor and amenities which is OK. But their overhead is definitely not in the customer Area. Bathrooms, "no paper towels"The person taking the order did not know anything about the food or the pricing, don't know why they put her on the front. I asked "how many pieces of fish on the child's plate, ?she did not know, ask the kitchen they said one Price $6.99, I ask how many pieces of fish on the regular size basket ,She said 2@ $8.99, I ask how many on the medium, said two pieces for 10.99,me ?? Which led me to ask, why two dollars more for the same thing? She then ask the kitchen, I was informed that the$8.99 basket was in fact one piece of fish ,same as the child's plate ,just cost $2 more I opted for the medium for $10.99. When it was brought to me there were two "very tiny catfish strips 1hush puppy, and some very bland coleslaw. I know this is a long post but I wanted to be clear why if there was a way to give no stars I would. Don't waste your time you'd be better off anywhere else. Also the person with me paid $17.99, for a "special platter" it had a very small fish fillet 4 small shrimp, One oyster, Rice and extremely under cooked green beans, very bland. This was my second time trying this place. The first time I wasn't too pleased. But it was the grand opening. It was way too crowded, food wasn't all that good, but I decided to give them a second chance and I regret every moment. I went for their Tuesday crawfish special and I've never tasted any crawfish bad as those. They were extremely dirty, every time I ate one i can taste and feel the dirty in my teeth. Horrible. I begin to feel sick till i just threw the rest of the 4lbs i purchased away. I will never give them my business again. read more

This spot is near my residence and I went to try it out today for my birthday with a couple of friends. I have to say hands down in the customer service I believe his name was Eric. He was very professional and his customer service was amazing my friend also loved it! I will be coming here more often now that Iknow it's a great place to dine in. The food was good. We had our first visit today. My husband had the gumbo which was good not every establishment that have gumbo taste good but to our surprise the gumbo was good. I had the fish and shrimp and the shrimp was big. Definitely worth the price and just to add FREE margaritas. Which was tasty. Definitely will be back I'm not sure if the margaritas were just free that day but hey if I had to pay I would cause they had a kick to them. read more

My husband and I stopped by on Saturday for an early dinner to try out. The service is great, the restaurant is clean and the food is amazing! Fresh and delicious. It was so good, we came back for Sunday lunch. We had the House Favorite Grilled Shrimp and the fried Catch fish with sides. OMG, so good. It is now one of our new favorite spots! Yummy! read more

I heard many of my peers rant and rave about this place and since the Meyer Park location is fairly new, my husband and I decided to try them out. The food was flavored very well, the service was pretty cool, but the portions however were pretty small for the prices that we paid. I ordered a blackened shrimp salad and was NOT impressed. (Maybe the iceberg lettuce on an oval plate threw it off). I must say, I did enjoy the fried okra and could have ordered that and given a better review. read more

This place is great. I came last week and ordered catfish and shrimp to go. Returned today and ate on the premises. It was OUTSTANDING. Prices were reasonable. Margaritas are free and are good. I must admit I expected more from this restaurant. We have been waiting a while for it to open. Decided to give it a few weeks to settle in before trying it out. We had shrimp, chicken tender, and fish platters. We requested it to be fried hard and it was mushy to say the least. The batter on the tenders reminds me of Long John Silvers breading. Oh and let's not forget the "free alcoholic beverages." STAY AWAY FROM THEM! It's watered down juice. No seriously the taste was SO bad. Definitely not worth the $30 we spent on two platters when we have other great seafood places in the area. read more

I've been to many seafood restaurants all over Houston but this food quality at the catch is amazing. The servers are very attentive and always checking on every customer. Every time I have come in Eric has been roaming around the whole restaurant checking on everybody! This will forever be my go to seafood spot. read more

Meyer Park restaurant curse strikes again. Warning - long rant about The Catch ahead. Not to vent and not to get free stuff (they already give out free alcohol) but to hopefully prevent The Catch from succumbing to the "bad service" curse that ruined Meyer Park Chili's and Meyer Park Fuddruckers. Went to The Catch for a Sunday lunch and had sub-par service and decline in menu item availability. First, they were out of lime margaritas. Hey it could happen. Sure, margaritas are the first "free" item on the free available alcohol list and the margarita's I've had on my two previous occasions have been good (heavy on the lime-aid but free!) so I can see running out. We ordered 1lb of the boiled snow crabs and fried shrimp. Crab arrived in the plastic bag they were boiled in on the serving basket. On earlier occasions the crabs were served presented in the basked only - no plastic bag to reveal that they have just been re-heated. No problem - easy enough for me to pour out the crab into the basket and the subsequent liquid into the paper lined perforated plastic tray. Now the table and basket is wet and leaky from reheat boil bag juice, not as nice as previous trips but not rant worthy. Crab is good. Then I noticed only one claw on the two clusters. So now it's a toss-up between offering the claw to my wife or her offering it to me. Not the best but again sometimes there is only one claw and you have to share. Maybe whoever placed the clusters in the bag didn't notice. Then my wife went to get the crab crackers. On previous visits the crackers were in a basket by plastic forks and knives. No crackers out. She asks for crackers and is told the restaurant does have any crackers. Hmmm. So I go up and ask for crab crackers. The young service staff I asked is perplexed and feints ignorance and I explain what a crab cracker is "metal shiny plyer-type utensil to break open the crab legs and claws". Her reply was "I don't think we have crab crackers." I point out that the other two visits to The Catch we used their crab crackers and now that the crab is on the table (slowly leaking through the plastic tray) how did she suggest we open our crab. She replied, "with your teeth". Having received this great orthodontal advise from the teen server I ask if there is a manager to which I could speak. This too confuses the server. This whole discussion is happening at the front counter adjacent to the cash registers. The young server turns around a couple of times looking for someone and then gestures to the older (mid-twenties?) staffer working the cash register closest to us and replies "probably him." He doesn't identify himself as this manager but as the probable oldest staff in the restaurant the younger server is hoping he can help and give her a chance to escape the complaining customer. I explain that I've been told there are no crab crackers available and that I've been counseled to use my teeth to crack the crab. He agrees that there are no crackers "people keep stealing them" was the response, they've been ordering crackers by the box load and that he too would use his teeth BUT he'll check in the back. I appreciate him looking as a follow up I ask for at a minimum two metal forks. He finds no crackers but finds two small metal oyster forks. Fried shrimp is good, free ZiegenBock is good, crab was good, but the forks were no use on the crab knuckles. The one claw was a fight but eventually overcome (check your oyster fork for bent tines on your next visit). However, during our meal, it was obvious that restaurant was ill-supervised. Servers were calling out loud, then comical loud with exaggerated attitude customer order numbers. I say comical because the servers all seemed to laugh at the number yelling. If you haven't been there, The Catch is a repurposed Schlotzsky's, not that big. I think it would make more sense for the servers to walk the very short loop around the dining room to look for the larger table numbers given to the patrons when you order before belting out numbers. To drive home the point of lack of supervising and training during this visit my wife also witnessed another young female server telling customers sitting at a table (hoping they were friends) to "shut the 'F' up" (except she didn't say the letter f) twice, loudly, in the dining room, with small children around. Unsupervised youth staff acting up. Happens, but an effective on-site manager would shut down this behavior. Or train staff so it would not occur in the first place. I want to support Meyer Park retail but to do so they'll have to be managed better. I hope The Catch can improve their service, food presentation, available food item specials, and staff training. Removing the boxes of bulk stored paper towels and cash register paper rolls from behind the bar clearly visible to patrons ordering would be a plus too. read more

Great food at a good price. Large portions. Food is why 3 stars. The problem is that they have new orders and call ahead takeout pickup orders in the same line. The point of calling in an order is to get there, pay and pick up without waiting. Waiting a few mins is one thing but we ordered and arrived the timeframe told for pickup 10-15 mins. Then we had to stand in line over 30 mins to pick up food that sat there for 30 mins. They also forgot the condiments. read more

The line is right in the middle of the restaurant and the workers have to squeeze between the line through the other side. The food was good but i wouldn't sit in there. I was actually headed to gyro hut but saw The Catch and I've been waiting to get to this side of town. Great customer service to start with. Great menu I ordered the catch fish basket with 4 shrimp( nice size shrimp by the way) and fried pickles which are seasoned very well. And great music to listen to. Tried this place today and it was an underwhelming experience. First of all please clean your restaurant. It is a nice building and nicely decorated but there was dirt everywhere and the floors were sticky. Periodic cleaning seemed nonexistent and I didn't see anyone cleaning tables after patrons left. The tops of the tea containers had dirt and the counters by the drinks were filthy. Also maybe it's just me but I don't want to stare into a garbage can when I'm ordering food, please move your garbage. And please hire people who have some personality and want to deal with the public. Don't hire angry young women with attitudes. I was with a group and they said the food was decent. read more

after ordering lunch at 2pm we had to wait for 25 minutes for our food that was very bad. Fried food was way over battered and the batter had no flavor. Cashier was very friendly to be positive about that. Noticed that someone who appeared to be a manager was sitting at the bar drinking beer with his buddy. He kept going behind the bar filling there beer glasses and then returning to the front of the bar as to appear to be a customer.Dont think this is very professional. As had a server who would sit at the bar or stand behind the cashier eating out of a bowl when she wasn't serving food. I gave 1 star because there is no way to give no stars. 3 stars is being generous. 2 would have been unfair. A big draw here seems to be free margaritas and hurricanes. Could not finish the Hurricane. It tasted like they had substituted hand sanitizer in the place of rum. Thanks, but no thanks. I'd rather pay for something palatable. Fried oysters were too salty. Had to cleanse palate with Hurricane, a "catch 22." Red beans, rice and fried catfish were on par with more reputable seafood restaurants! Did not like the boudain balls; the bell pepper taste was too overpowering. Would have really fancied the fried shrimp; however, it was slightly overcooked. You should be able to pull all of the meat out of the shell, with your front teeth, if prepared properly. Had to use my fingers to wrestle the tail meat out of the shell, messy and annoying. Portions are commensurate with the price. Upon getting into my car to leave, I was moved when a homeless man staggered by the front entrance and an employee, I guess mgr, sweeping the sidewalk, shouted to him, offering him something to drink. It's nice to see a place that generally cares about those more unfortunate, in these difficult times. Cheers to the Catch, but can I drink something else? read more
