Had some okay food here. Started with a salad which was good. Next I tried to happy hour pretzel which was also ok. Then I tried the burger. When it came out there was a long black hair across the plate. Ruined my apatite. They offered to make a new one, but not a chance. They also tried to charge me for it on the bill after so that's not the best customer service. Would not eat here again. The drinks are good and the food was okay, just not into having hair on my food and then being charged for it. read more

The food here is exceptional. I love the Beef Wellington, it's flavorful and perfectly cooked. The breakfast is amazing! The oatmeal is warm and delicious. Service is exceptional. The restaurant has a cozy and posh feeling to it. The lighting at night is romantic. Everyone looks beautiful because of the lighting! The manager stops by to make sure everything is fine. I spent my Thanksgiving meal at the Chalkboard Restaurant with 3 other people This was my second Thanksgiving here, which was my mistake. The buffet could have been a pleasant experience if the food had not been cold and the buffet serving trays had been replenished when low or empty. Yes, I gave them 5 stars! This place is well worth it. Definitely make reservations, easy to do online, so you will be guaranteed a seat here. There is outside seating available, I'm sure it would be great for a romantic dinner or Sunday brunch. We were promptly greeted and taken to our seats, they were very full but the atmosphere was light and happy. We were sat near the kitchen, some would frown at this but my husband was delighted! He loved watching all the action going on inside there. Our server was such a sweet woman, she talked us through the specials and desserts, making our choices very easy. For an appetizer we had the baked Brie with apple chutney and mini toast. My husband really enjoyed that. The flavor of the chutney was interesting, I was trying to figure out what I was tasting. It was a great start to a wonderful meal. My husband has wanted to try beef Wellington for quite some time. Living in small town Oklahoma makes that risky, but when I read the reviews for their Wellington we decided to give it a try. The reviews aren't wrong! It seriously melts in your mouth!!! He was very pleased with his choice and can finally say he tried it. I had the seared duck breast, WOW! I've never had duck before, I would try it again. The skin was crispy, like bacon and the breast was tender and juicy. I enjoyed the flavors of my entire dish! We had coffee along with the chefs choice creme brûlée which was key lime and a brownie sundae. They were both delicious, along with the coffee it was the perfect way to end the meal. We had the opportunity to eat here twice while visiting Tulsa to see the Lion King. We were also staying in the Ambassador where the restaurant is located. A lot of pluses regarding this restaurant starting with the wonderful ambience and great service. The first day we had dinner here and I ordered the crab and shrimp ravioli pasta. While I saw and tasted crab in the dish I did not taste any shrimp. And it had more vegetables on it than I expected. The flavor overall was good, but the pasta itself was tough. I ordered the chocolate cake to go and had it later that evening, and it was rich, gooey, and delicious. The kids commented that they enjoyed their food which included a burger for the youngest and fried chicken for the older two kiddos. A highlight of dinner on the first day was the Limoncello martini which was fabulous. The second night I took the kids down for dinner. We had had a day full of activities and I did not want to drive. On this evening I ordered chicken tenders and fries for the kiddos and I will say that I tried their chicken tenders and they were cooked to perfection along with fries. If I had had that the first night, this would have been a five star review. I also had another Limoncello martini, which again was fabulous. read more

After an unexpected poor experience in June, the manager, Abigail, has been ever attentive and has truly shown that this restaurant takes customer reviews seriously. She explained what is and what is not part of the duty of the waitress, apologized on their behalf, and offered multiple solutions including an invite to come back, assuring us that our experience would be grand compared to the first. Abigail was outstanding with keeping the loop of communication open. Although our original dining experience was not top tier, the response by the restaurant made up for it. Got the special this evening and it was very pleasing! The beef was fork curable and just melted in your mouth! The granola on top was awkward looking but it had a great pairing with the sweetness of the beef. Was a very pleasant surprise. The veggies were perfectly cooked and the potatoes were just a little bit on the dull side but the surprisingly they were buttery and just ok. I'd highly suggest giving it a go! It's a hidden gem in otherwise monotonous Tulsa. Was treated to dinner here for a birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed the service, the food and mostly the ambience. In our current culture of excesses, their food portions were sized just right. Service was fantastic. They even let us walk through the restaurant and gave us a tour of all the paintings and special event rooms. We felt welcome and respected. Well, the hostess who saw us coming from the hotel, then didn't bother coming to the front which she had directed us to. And then she rudely told us we could only sit in the bar without a reservation. Honestly, had i not had the voucher from the hotel, I would have left. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. And the food was fine. But the initial impression makes me not ever wanting to eat here again. Oh and the restaurant was half full when we entered and no one came in by the time we left. So we aren't talking about a peak busy time. Next time I will just take the points. I am so disappointed. I came for lunch with high hopes based on other reviews. The service seemed disjunctive and disorganized. Our server was absent at best, and sometimes would come to ask if someone else had taken our order. There was no communication. By the end of the meal we had to walk to the bar to ask for our check because no one had checked on us since the food had been delivered. We ordered the 30 dollar cheese plate. It came with 3 pieces of salami, 2 slices of cheese, some random smeared mustard, and grapes. It was NOT worth 30 dollars. Next, our entrees came out. I ordered the Caesar and soup of the day. The soup of the day had great flavor but it was cold. I was going to ask them to warm it, but no one checked on us. By that point the soup would've naturally cooled on its own and it was pointless. I am VERY strict about how I grade. If I don't have baseline my reviews mean nothing. on Yelp, 5 stars is perfect. SO to get 5 stars from me you have to be absolutely perfect. No complaints. 1 star is absolutely NOTHING good to say. I would give 0, but that's not an option. 3 stars is average. It's pretty simple and it's what I stick to for every review. When you look at a place like this, you have certain expectations. It's got the look, it's got the menu, and it's got the prices of an upscale 5 star experience. That was nowhere near the case for anything in the night. The layout is cool. Small spot. Live music. Cute wine cellar to sit in. Fun stuff. As I go to order my drinks, the guy who seats us knows the drink list well, but when I am asking about different options he keeps trying to walk away. Finally he just asks me to come to the bar to make my own choice. Not the most service oriented thing. Also, the server didn't even give me silverware even though he messed around with my wife's 3 different times. I had to ask for it. Super weird. What you read from other reviews is true. My wife's cocktail was too sweet. So sweet we had to send it back My taste of their special cocktail was too sweet. They apparently LOVE sweet drinks. Again...below average there. I took the reigns on the menu ordering. We went with the cheese board first, lamb lollipops and crab cakes second, and the signature beef wellington for entree. The pics look 5 stars, but the taste was lacking everywhere. The gouda was REALLY hard, barely any mustard that you couldn't even dip stuff in, no real amount of meat. Below average. The crab cakes were built up hard by the chef. They were bland. not a big crab flavor. Small. No flavor from the lemon on top. Again below average. The lamb chops had an herb crust that came off easily. Not very tender. No good lamb flavor. Sauce was good, but again, below average. The worst part though was the wellington. And in the worst way possible. My wife started not feeling great and was super full. Since we were splitting the entree, I was fine to just leave. I tell the waiter we need to cancel and head out. He comes back and says, "Sorry, it's made, and since it's baked in puff pastry and no one else has ordered it we can't cancel the order." Seriously?? Is that service man? I know it's my fault, but that's not going the extra mile for your customer. A $45 dollar entree, that we are not going to eat, AND they also kept the extra $5 charge to split the entree on the ticket. It's hard for me to even write this. Can't believe it. So needless to say, we were expecting a 5 star night, and we had a great time, but everything about the food and the service was far below average. I would give 1 star, but I do have some good to say so I can't. If I could do it again I would go to Juniper. Not worth $150. read more

We went here for my wife's birthday. Maybe we weren't a little fair to them because my wife has dietary issues but they try to accommodate them. One thing is she Hass to have gluten-free items she ordered a wedge salad and they topped it with crispy onion strings, they had to take that back and then they talked it with some sort of nut. She ordered grilled salmon and it came out like sushi so they took it back and cooked it correctly. I had to double bone pork chop and it was good. The pork was just a little undercooked. read more

I had crab sandwich that wouldn't be my first choice next time, maybe just cakes alone because it came on cold thick buns and very little sauce, arugula slightly soggy. I've always loved this place, even if there have been some disappointing moments in the very distant past. But a recent update has produced a super cool spot that I' enjoy visiting. I love the atmosphere. Tonight I had the pan seared halibut and it was delicious. I've also had the burger here and it was very good. This place has always been known for its Beef Wellington and I look forward to trying it again soon (it's probably been over 25 years since I had it here last). The only knock I can make against the Chalkboard is I don't think the service currently matches the level of the food and the atmosphere. But that might not be fair as I have only eaten at the bar in my two recent visits. Regardless, I will be back. This place is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in Tulsa. read more

Went here for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it might be over priced but to me it was worth it. We got the Brussel sprouts and I got the filet. The brussel sprouts were some of the best I've ever had. They were seared with a great Smokey flavor but still very crispy. I honestly would come back just for the sprouts. The steak was done well and pleasant too. I really enjoyed the sweet potato/potato/aside. The goat cheese really added a nice flavor. No one seems to know how incredible The Chalkboard is, and I selfishly hope it stays that way. You can't hear crickets or anything, but it's never as crowded as it should be. It's one of the best kept secrets of the Tulsa food scene. It's also one of the few places I trust enough to order (or recommend) anything on their menu. My review of The Chalkboard only refers to breakfast, so can't speak to the other meals they offer. I thought it was excellent -- so much so that I went there twice instead of going to a different place on my second morning. I also should be clear that I had the same thing both days -- but hey, if it ain't broke... Because I'm from the east coast, I was the first one in the place on both days (#jetlag). I came in, had delicious coffee, which they kept warm throughout my meal. On both days, I had the eggs benedict, which they made with wilted spinach for me because I'm vegetarian. It was so flavorful and one of the best hollandaise sauces I've never had. It came with a small side of fruit, and was just the perfect sized breakfast to start the day. When I return to Tulsa, I look forward to trying this place again for lunch or dinner. Definitely can recommend for breakfast! read more

This great hotel bar/restaurant feels nothing like a hotel restaurant. It is very cozy with excellent craft cocktails, wine and beer selection. We were in from out of town for a wedding and visited this establishment 3 times! My husband and I absolutely loved the bartender Evan. He was very personable, knew all of his products, and made delicious cocktails. We had so many events over the weekend we only tried the spinach artichoke dip which was the perfect size. read more

I drove here from OKC on a Saturday night for a business meeting. I was unsure, because of what some reviewers had said. This restaurant is the bomb, and anyone who says different did not taste what I tasted. The wine menu is very good. I truly enjoyed the Shiraz. I shared in a charcuterie plate which had 3 cheeses and a salami. Very good, with a variety of olives and garlic cloves. The cheeses were excellent, as was the salami. Yum. I ordered the foie gras appetizer which comes with foie gras, 3 preserves and toast. It was very good. I shared with two other people who had never tried foie gras. read more

I had been here for brunch a few times and was super impressed. Some girlfriends and I met up in Tulsa and I recommended this place for dinner. Their menu is just big enough that it leaves you wondering what to get! They have a lot of unique items that they make in house that you definitely won't find elsewhere in Tulsa. I opted for the classic filet with a potato side and cut green beans. The filet itself was cooked perfectly but not a lot of flavor like you would get elsewhere maybe i'm just spoiled by steakhouses. However, what really lacked for me was the COLD sauce they put over my once warm filet. This made me entire meal just off I felt and I didn't enjoy it one bit. Never put cold sauce over a warm filet I just don't get that. The atmosphere inside was wonderful: Dark, romantic and laid back yet classy. The service was great and their wines were delicious. The bread... oh my get ready it was to die for! They put rosemary in it I believe! They definitely make it their own. Overall, I love the chalkboard but definitely more for brunch than dinner I just feel like that filet was ruined for me which I always hate to spend $40 on an entrée just to not enjoy it at all. read more
