The Corti Special only costs $8.50 and is loaded with meats, cheese, and toppings of your choice. I always do Dutch crunch, they have a really fantastic Dutch crunch roll that isn't too sweet like some others. The sandwich is massive and tastes so good. I also usually pick up some of their raviolis. The beef ravioli is really good, as well as the mushroom and chicken and pancetta raviolis. They have some inter sting/unique stuff in general. It seems that the highlight is by far the deli counter. People are picking up sandwiches like me, but also lots of people buying their prepared foods. I have yet to do that but I'll definitely have to. I love the old school vibe too. The employees are super friendly and It's a very "everyone knows everyone" type of place. It seems like some of the workers have been there for decades. You just don't get that many places anymore. If you head out there on a weekend get there early. During summer even getting your sandwich order in just before 11am is too late and you'll be waiting for 30 mins. I've heard you can order online, but being 30-40 mins away I figured that seems too late to have my sandwich sitting there.

The Corti Special is where they choose the types of meat that go into your sandwich. Their sandwiches are big enough for two people. I don't remember exactly what meats were in my first sandwich, but I definitely enjoyed that one more. The second time, the sweet roll got a little soggy for my liking, and I wasn't a big fan of the beef that was included. I am definitely a fan of their honey mustard, though! You can order your sandwiches online, or if you're ordering in-store, there's a slip you can fill out with your order. I waited about 20-30 minutes for my first sandwich, which wasn't too bad considering it was a busy weekend. The second time, I only waited about 5 minutes. They still have a great variety of meats, cheeses, and alcohol. It's a good place to stop by if you're looking to pick up some specialty grocery items along with a sandwich.

First time here was absolutely amazing. Great food that came out quick. Our cashier was a bit over attentive but maybe he was just excited for customers. Got the chat steak plates with a side of elote and that was such an amazing experience. That first time really was a book and its cover experience. The place is in a rundown kinda strip mall section. Walking in you don't smell food cooking and the decor is very much.....not there. It's weird. Kinda like your on a vacation somewhere in a poor country and the people spend less time worrying about the ambiance, and just put out food. It's weird to experience here stateside. I was blown away. The second trip....yeah, it seriously fell off. I thought maybe they would have decorated or something. Nope. Same weird front of the house experience. Here's where the rating drops. The quality of the steak fell off so bad I wasn't sure I was at the same place. The steak was like a chewy leather. When I was a chef, I could tell the product I was working with. No way shape nor form should this have left the kitchen. Funny thing also it was the same cook as the first visit. Upon arrival, we were initially hesitant as the restaurant appeared empty. However, our concerns were quickly put to rest when we were warmly greeted by the owner (whose name we unfortunately forgot to ask). The owner was incredibly patient and accommodating throughout our dining experience. For our meal, we ordered two kids' meals: a chicken bowl and a quesadilla. My son had a special request to add shrimp to his quesadilla, which they happily fulfilled. I opted for a taco salad, while my husband chose a plate with shrimp and steak. When it first opened, it was so amazing. I could eat their food cold. I'd loved it. I would crave it. Then they started putting beans in their bulldog bowls without telling anyone. I'm allergic to beans. It would've been nice for heads up. They fixed it and the food was still OK. I went back two days ago and it was horrible. Like I said, I could eat it cold. It was so mushy and gross. I could barely eat it. There was hardly any rice. The kids bulldog bowls now half the portion. Weren't told that either. This dish blends savory with sweet in a very delightful way, literally packed with flavor. Another friend had the Tacos Dorados and she thought they were delicious. The menu items are unusual for a Mexican restaurant, very creative. They do not bring complementary chips and salsa, rather they bring a dish of mango with a delicious spice added. There was some nice music in the background played at a low volume so that it was easy to have a conversation. There is a TV at the bar, but we were far enough away that it did not interfere. I recommend that you try this restaurant as it will be a unique experience.

The colors and decor are all quite festive. Also, I was surprised at the prices as they seemed very reasonable compared to other restaurants for the same food and beverage items I had the tamarindo margarita and loved how tangy it was. All of us enjoyed our food- my sister and I loved the poblano soup and several of us found the cauliflower tacos delicious. Our server was fabulous and we appreciated the birthday desserts served. The only thing a few of us didn't care for was the vegan brownie.

The food is consistently good, great really, and so is the service I've received when calling in orders. They are always happy to take a special request. I ordered a Pork Tamale and Shredded Chicken Hard Taco a la cart. The Pork Tamale was okay, but they cover it in enchilada sauce which was new for me...the Taco on the other hand, it was so bland. The chicken had no flavor and there were 4 shreds of cheese on it plus a heaping pile of lettuce. My husband ordered the Fajitas Burrito and was not a fan either. My Sister in Law ordered one of their Shrimp plates and it was super fishy tasting - she ended up sending it back. She ordered an Enchilada plate instead and the meat was incredibly salty, she couldn't eat it either. Our server was great, attentive and patient though. Overall, I do love the ambiance of El Palmar and we always free welcomed when we visit, but I feel like the food is steadily declining each time we visit. I don't see us coming back unfortunately.

That's coming from someone who does not hand that title out lightly. I ordered all three tacos, chicken, carnitas, and brisket, plus the three meat plate with ribs, carnitas, and brisket. Every bite was delicious. The sauces were amazing, and the beans were so good I ended up using them as a dip once I ran out of BBQ sauce. Portion sizes were generous too, I left completely stuffed. If I had to pick a favorite, the chicken tacos take the top spot. The only thing that didn't blow me away was the mac and cheese. If you like your mac extra cheesy, you'll probably love it. I just prefer more noodle to cheese ratio, so it wasn't for me. I didn't get a chance to try the smash burgers since I was way too full, but I watched other people order them and they looked incredible. That alone is enough to bring me back. Still can't believe a food truck out-BBQ'd everything I've had back home. Can't wait to come back and try those burgers.
