I will admit I'm no bagel expert or snob, but even my amateur experience can recognize these guys sell bagels many quality tiers above store-bought bagels. My go-to item to get here is actually their Chicken Salad Club Panini. The bread is perfectly toasted, the raw onions have a great bite to them, the bacon adds more texture and saltiness and the tangy honey mustard ties it all together to make one of my most favorite sandwiches. Another treat I love to get is their Pistachio Muffin microwaved with butter. It is heavenly, as are a lot of their other muffins. It's the perfect setting for a night where you can savor good food and create lasting memories. During my visit, I decided to try the famed "Trio" a classic choice that showcases some of the restaurant's signature dishes. The trio features lasagna, Alfredo fettuccine, and chicken parmigiana, with an option to substitute for eggplant parmigiana, which I gladly opted for. The fettuccine, creamy and indulgent, was a standout; it arrived hot and perfectly seasoned, each bite a comforting embrace of flavors. The eggplant had potential but was lukewarm, and sadly, the lasagna was served cold, which was a letdown. The chicken parmigiana also followed suit, lacking the warmth that one craves from such a beloved dish. It's hard to shake the feeling that perhaps it was just an off night. Despite the hiccups with temperature, the dessert course was where The Chateau truly shone. We had an early dinner here yesterday because it is midway between Boston, where our son lives, and our Southern NH home. It always appears to be busy, so we decided to try it. Our reservation was held by the front desk, but nowhere to be found in the second waiting area, a hallway by the restrooms. The service was cordial, but extremely slow. We had to skip desert because we had already been in the restaurant for two hours and 30 minutes, waiting to be served most of that time. They do not serve Coke products. How much could they be saving by not serving the country's #1 soft drinks? As it turned out, that was the least of our problems. My "chopped salad" was awful. Who puts canned corn in a salad? Chateau does! The beets, onions and cucumbers were chopped but served amid large, not chopped, lettuce leaves, most of which were white stalks. It also contained a large quantity of chick peas. It was a terrible salad, even at the low price of $5.99. The #5 combo, was lasagna, a meatball and a chicken cutlet served with a minute amount of parmesan cheese. The meatball was the star of this dish, quite good. The entire plate was covered with what appeared to be tomato sauce from a can, watery and unseasoned. My daughter's gnocchi was barely touched. My wife's eggplant was edible, but drenched in the watery and tasteless sauce. My son's ravioli was quite good. He also appeared to enjoy the onion soup. The prices were fairly low, $19.00 for combos and $15 for entrees. Salads were not worth ordering. The dishes are traditional Italian, nothing new, nothing imaginative. I live in Southern California. I am originally (31 years ago) from South Massachusetts and I miss the seafood in New England a lot. Especially the Fried Clams (whole clams). Whenever I am back in New England, I eat Fried Clams whenever I can. My family lives back there and when I visit, we have gone out for seafood often. I have to say that I use to love Nocera's in Stoughton and when I heard that the Chateau was part of the same restaurant chain, I was thrilled and we drove down from New Hampshire. The food is outstanding. The clams were fantastic, the veal parmigiana was excellent. I have traveled throughout Italy and I am a very good cook myself. I am fussy as well. This was excellent. The staff, especially our wonderful waiter was fantastic and attentive. I highly recommend this wonderful place and please save some clams for me! I will be back soon! The waiter lived out here in Venice Beach for a while and he was so kind to us. He understood all about yearning for great New England seafood and outstanding Italian food. Here you get both! My husband and I went to the Chateau. I ordered the Chicken Mediterranean. It was supposed to be sautéed chicken with pasta with garlic and olive oil. What I received was chicken parmigiana with Tomato sauce, pasta with oil. I tried to tell the waitress, but she wasn't around for a long period of time so I ate some. The chicken parmigiana was tough. Finally the waitress came back and I told her. She checked the menu and I was right! She told her manager and the manager told the waitress that he was going to have the chef make it and also comp me for my meal. I waited a while and the waitress said that the chef said he will not make it! She did comp me for this meal and gave a free dessert. I have been there before and never experienced that. They should have told me that that has been discontinued and to pass chicken parmigana off as this is unacceptable! read more

I've lived nearby for years and never stopped in. It always struck me as funny that an Italian place uses a French word as its name! Honestly, though, it was pretty good. I went during lunch with my mother and young sons. Our server was great. She was very friendly -- especially to the kids -- and very prompt. Some reviewers don't care for the food. I thought it was pretty good. This isn't North End specialty Italian food. It's a family restaurant, which is exactly what I wanted! I am giving this Minus 5 Stars. The service was okay, to day the least. The food was tossed at us within 5 minutes off ordering. Weren't asked if we wanted salad or appetizers before our meal. Just some flat soda and something that tasted like it was pulled out of a hungryman microwave dinner box. The sauce was like warm ketchup and I couldn't cut my lasagna with a circular saw.
