I used to really love this place, the food was always delicious and the meal size was decent. We ordered take-out tonight, I got the chicken and eggplant parm with a side caesar salad instead of pasta and my husband got the lasagna. When I got home, my meal was pathetically small and no cheese. Just a tiny flat piece of chicken and a tiny piece of eggplant. The chicken was thinner than a cutlet., this was more of a lunch size. When I called about my order they did offer to make another meal, but I live 30 minutes from them, so they offered to take money off. I felt that Manager really didn't care that they messed up. It was tasteless and honestly I fed it to my dogs. What a waste of $21.00. My husband did say the lasagna was very good. My folks used to come here all the time, and several friends have this as their "go to" Italian restaurant, but my wife and I hadn't been here in several years. We happened by a couple of weeks ago and we just had to come back. Everything was wonderful. The staff is very professional. We were told our wait would be about 15-20 minutes, and our wait was just under 15 minutes. The menu is so expansive, it took us both a while to figure our what we wanted! Our waitress was wonderful and prompt. The food was as good as I remember from years ago. Everything was cooked just as we asked, and was done fairly quickly. All in all a wonderful experience. Old school Italian. Not fancy, been around forever, so they must be doing something right. Having driven by a thousand times, this is only our second visit and we are hooked. That was delicious! My rigatoni bolognese was SO flavorful with fresh basil and a big lump of ricotta. His Chicken Supreme was the most moist and perfectly cooked restaurant chicken I've tasted in a while. A great, creamy sauce is served on the side. (I apologize for internally wondering why he would order than because I was the fool. That dish is crave worthy!) I even had to get a pizza to go for dinner later because I live far away and can't wait to try more from this menu. Kind of an odd night at the Chateau bar, we have gone there fairly often as it's not far from us. Wife thought she could order off the meals under $20 and get soup and salad with it. The server said the Chicken Supreme and Baked stuff shrimp wasn't available, never said it was only available Monday -Thursday, then gave us a "lunch" menu (it was after 5 PM) and suggested the Baked stuffed chicken, my wife was still thinking soup and salad came with it and he just went along with the order. I get it, we screwed up but it felt like we were lead that way, never a mention that the soup and salad didn't come with it. I mean $10 or $11 bucks extra isn't going to kill me but... He then asked if she wanted another glass of wine, about 10-15 min. later I asked for the check. I noticed he charged us for the 2nd glass but never served it. The female bartender working with him came over and she took the glass off the bill very quickly, almost embarrassed for the male server. Food was very good, no issue with that. Attended a private shower here so this review is based on that experience. We had a room in the rear of the bar that could be closed off by two sets of French doors which did provide some privacy. A crudités tray was placed near the back of the room which contained four tables (of six) placed in a rectangle. The veggies, very fresh, in the crudité were sliced in perfect proportions allowing them to be dipped in the ranch dressing fairly easily and easy to eat. There were also several choices of cheeses and crackers as well as sliced pepperoni. The wait staff was very friendly, polite and attentive. The menu was pre-fixed offering three lunch selections: Chicken Parm with pasta (regular or gluten free)!and a house salad, turkey club with fries and minestrone or steak tips with mashed potatoes and veggies. I chose the Chicken Parm which came with the garden salad which was very fresh, a nice portion and was not drenched in dressing. The chicken Parm arrived shortly and was a sizable lunch portion. The chicken was very tender and though I could see cheese under the sauce, it wasn't smothered in cheese but the cheese was also not very flavorful/noticeable. The breading was rather mushy though and would have been better slightly crispy. A little too much breading for me. The sauce was neither too sweet not tangy. The gluten free pasta was "meh". I was able to finish all of my chicken (less the excess breading) but not the pasta. Dessert was a chocolate ice cream cake. Piece of chocolate cake intertwined with vanilla ice cream with a chocolate sauce drizzle and whipped cream. At first I thought it was a brownie topped with chocolate sauce because the outer portion was rather hard and crusty. Complimentary bread and butter was served but no one at my table had either. It looked like sliced seeded Italian. Not sure if it was warmed. Coffee was also offered with dessert to which I had a decaf. They use the prepackaged creamers vs offering fresh cream/milk. Didn't think to ask if that's what we still wanted when they realized they didn't have any basil? How does an Italian place run out basil anyways? After a long day of traveling, walked to this restraint from a nearby hotel. It's the only thing around besides the Chili's. We were seated right away and our waitress was friendly. I'd never been to this town before let alone this restaurant. I pulled up and parking lot was full. Huge restaurant, extremely busy. The scratch off lotto machine in front should have been the tip-off. The food here is ghastly. I suggested we go here as we were in a hurry, never again. I should have looked at Yelp first. My colleagues were not happy with me at all after taste #1 of the food. I had ravioli that were over-salted, improperly cooked and raw in the middle. I ate two of them and they landed in my stomach and sat there begging to be expelled through any means necessary. The asparagus was microwaved and looked like it was saying "kill me, please!". My colleagues pasta was under-cooked and hard. Clearly their chicken had been microwaved as it was tough, tasteless and cold in the middle. Our waitress was nice however she was also stretched pretty thin among many tables, most of people over the age of 70. We didn't see her much. Gordon Ramsey can be seen on Youtube as well as regular TV. Clearly whoever is in the kitchen or owns this place needs to watch all of the episodes. Just go somewhere else, even the rolling hot dogs at 7-11 may be a better option. PS One more thing: the other reviewers are right about the Italian food. Even though it didn't say mashed potatoes and gravy, I was expecting gravy but it was good without the gravy. For a drank I ordered the tiramisu martini. It was good. I expected more Graham crackers around the rim but it was still tasty and strong. I've had 2 and 3 martinis before (yes plural in 1 sitting) and felt nothing. STAY AWAY!! I do not normally review restaurants whether it was good or bad but this one warrants one. I ordered grilled chicken parmigiana. The chicken looked cooked but tasted absolutely raw. The chili's next door door has very slow service at lunch time so The Chateau is a much better option for a go-out-to-eat meal to fit within your lunch hour. We also ordered fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli and it was like noodles in pasta water with 3 pieces of broccoli. The Chateau Restaurant is going DOWNHILL FASTER AND FASTER - pretty soon no one will want to eat/spend time there. Last night, my wife and I went to the Chateau Restaurant as a special treat together to celebrate my upcoming Birthday. We had received a email which offered us one-free-entree if we purchased one ourselves. Since it had been quite a while since we last visited this restaurant, I thought it was worth another try. We arrived about 6:30 and the restaurant itself was pretty full. We were greeted by a server who sat us in a booth, gave us the "new" (not improved) menu which was about 1/3 of the size of the one I was given on my last visit there maybe a year ago and proceeded to take our drink orders. It took us about 10 minutes for our single iced tea and single hot tea to arrive. When it finally did arrive, we gave the server our order - my wife ordered the fried clam plate ($25.99) and I ordered the fried scallops ($25.99). It seems that the Chateau no longer offers a salad or soup to begin a meal. How long ago they stopped this I don't know. But I do know that $26 for "fried clams or fried scallops" is astronomically expensive. Both came with french fries or a baked potato - we choose the baked potato and Cole Slaw. The server tried to "pitch" (sell????) roasted vegetables which we declined. After another 20 minutes passed, our meal was served. We began eating: My scallops were terrible - obviously "previously frozen" without that sponginess that comes from fresh scallops. In fact they were soft suggesting they'd be "left out" in the warm/hot kitchen. My baked potato was under-cooked - so it never could be mashed with butter to make one of my favorite things. And the serving size of the Cole Slaw was so tiny that I wondered why they even "bothered"????? My wife's fried clams were just about the same. Not fresh clams - "previously frozen" would be the only reason they came out as soft, not crunchy as they did. Same thing about my wife's potato and Cole Slaw. Maybe there's a "pattern here"??????? Huh? As we ate, we noticed the restaurant was becoming EMPTY - the tables that "were practically full" --- were mostly "empty". Maybe that's what is happening to the Chateau - people are abandoning it in favor of other restaurants that serve "fresh" sea food and give "value for the $ spent"...? My wife could not eat more than maybe 1/4 of what was on her plate and I at maybe half of my portion. The wife took home the "wilted" fried clams (not a joke) and as we walked outside the door towards the parking lot, guess what we saw? AN EMPTY PARKING LOT --- at 7:40 on a Saturday night. Well I guess there are smarter people out there than I originally thought. This restaurant does NOT DESERVE TO STAY IN BUSINESS. Despite it's founding in 1933, it's present owners (family or corporate) has destroyed it. Conversely the Chili's parking lot near the exit from the Chateau Restaurant was jammed full of cars. Maybe that'll tell you something - eat at Chili's if you want to eat in that physical location (bad joke)..... God help those who decide to "give it a try". Family members that grew up in the greater Boston area have wonderful stories of the great food that The Chateau served a decade ago. When they expanded to several locations that quality collapsed, many different parties told me. After eating here I agreed. The Chateau might serve a ton of food from this large, popular location, but is average, at best. While the service doesn't disappoint and everything is priced to sell, I ordered far more than I could eat (on purpose, to try it) and wasn't impressed by anything, unfortunately. The chicken parm came in a rectangular slab, one that tasted like it was frozen and then dropped in the fryer. It was so tough the knife had a tough time slashing through. And, while the sauce was sweet and tasty, the meatballs had issues succumbing to my fork. I had to press down hard to cut it, which shouldn't be the case. As for the sausage, it's your average Italian sausage. On the other hand, the Spring Mix side salad did come with crisp greens rather than the more traditional New England iceberg. In closing, while the price was more than attractive the food straddles the average line and struggles to reflect any true, local Italian feel, other than possibly the restaurant decor and staff outfits.
