I'm a very happy American enjoying my big breakfast on a rainy day this morning. I never visited Mil's Diner in Milpitas in the past 16-17 years since working and living in the area, but I knew that I would eventually check them out someday. Good choice. No lines and no crowds on a rainy day morning with plenty of available parking spots in the huge lot. Nothing attractive on the outside in this old popular plaza. The place turned out great with the old fashioned retro red color style interior and the experience was wonderful. Good vibes and positive feelings when walking into it. My lady server provided excellent service and the Hispanic male worker was quick and efficient. Place is clean and menu had good variety of selections. Breakfast is served all day while lunch items start at 11am. My breakfast was very fulfilling and total was $25.30 with everything included. I paid in cash and tipped them $5. Loved my sweet lady server. There was another older woman at the cash register. She's a local as well. I really enjoyed the stop. I had the Fajitas Omelette breakfast and the steak meats in it were very generous. Delicious breakfast exactly as I had expected. My onions green peppers potatoes were perfect with a side of salsa. Sourdough toast was delicious with the garlic butter taste. I really came for my favorite hot chocolate with whipped cream in the morning. I do miss big American breakfasts, especially in these old fashioned and traditional retro spots. Love it. Why didn't I visit this place much earlier? Because they're always busy or full inside and the plaza parking is usually congested with heavy traffic here. Overall, I love the vibes and the service. It's one of those places where you can just have normal casual conversations with the staffs working inside if you are open to it. Beautiful diner. Yes, I will be revisiting in the future. If you love huge food portions, there's great value here. One plate can easily be shared between two people. Nice. read more

If you read my reviews here on Yelp, you know I either post for either a really good review or a really bad review. Unfortunately we are here for the latter. We moved to Milpitas about a year ago and my son started going to Mil's and is a current 'Regular'. They have good food. So after a while, my husband and I started going there and we too started going there pretty regularly for breakfast, at least once or twice a week. All in all, between the family we drop a few hundred a week. And we do tip well. Most of the wait staff knows us. Today, my husband had to stop on his way home to use the restroom. He doesn't look homeless or unkempt in anyway. When he asked, they told him he couldn't unless he's a 'paying customer'. This was to a newer employee he hadnt seen before. He proceeded to explain that we eat here regularly and she still said no. He asked to speak to the manager, who does know him. He too said no. I find it ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS that for a supposed family atmosphere restaurant, they couldn't extend a small courtesy. What exactly was it going to take away from them? As mentioned, we drop a good chunk of change there, and they didnt want to help out a patron that frequents the restaurant? I thought I was the only one but after reading the reviews I feel a little better about my dining experience. After we ordered our food, I switched ketchup bottles with the table next to mine because I wanted a fuller bottle, and the fat lady worker scolds me - "hey don't just put an empty bottle on another table" with a snarky attitude. Hey you trashy haired lady, I don't work here, don't tell me what to do. Most of the workers are nice but that old bag had some self-righteous attitude. Seen it a few times before too, with her gross ass make up. If you're so concerned about the ketchup bottles why don't you do your own damn job and make sure they're full, you lazy cow. She kind of ruined my meal, but I'm glad to hear other people complain about her rude behavior. Mil's Diner is a Milpitas institution. I've been here in the past but this time I came in with a few friends to do a major catch up as it had been a couple years since we met up. So they decided why not Mil's? L O C A T I O N Mil's Diner is located off of Calaveras Blvd and Abbott Ave. It's in a plaza close to Goodwill. The parking situation here can be very difficult during the busy times of eating. I N S I D E It's a diner! Yes it feels like an old school diner with a bar area and booths to sit in. They do have a restroom if you need it. M E N U It's a fairly extensive menu with all your good ol' diner food from breakfast fare to lunch. That day I decided I'd get the 50/50 (2 bacon & 2 sausage) with over easy eggs, hashbrowns and sourdough bread. Pricing feels a little bit on the high side, but to be honest it's been so long since I've been to a diner that this might be normal. How was it? It was good! The hashbrowns a tad bit oily, but I was expecting that. Eggs good, bacon crispy, sausage bouncy. S E R V I C E It was warm, friendly and lovely. The wait though was uff. So if you can send out someone early to scout the line or I'm unsure if they can put your name down as you drive over. But the wait times can get really long. I think we waited about an hour or maybe 40-ish min? But this was a Sunday at lunch time and we had 4 people. We actually paid by cash which was easier for all of us and we didn't need change back. Amazing when we all have cash handy. O V E R A L L I think it's a pretty solid diner with good food with friendly service. I'm sure we'll come back again as we enjoyed our time there and catching up. Is it possible to give 6 out of 5? Never had a bad experience here. Chicken and waffle are HUGE and even now with price increases everywhere still good deal. Service top not h every time, quick seating and always on top. Place is packed most of the time and smells great. If I had a complaint (sarcasm) it's that they are almost too on top of stuff. If you come here prepare to get the jitters because they always keep the coffee flowing! read more

11/8/25 Back in the area for brunch and kiddos wanted an all American brunch. We haven't had Mil's in awhile and had to come back. Solid breakfast as expected. Chicken and waffle (4 piece chicken - breast, leg, wing and thigh) - not tenders like most other places! Kids ordered country fried steak (with over medium eggs and crispy hash) while the other wanted one with over easy eggs and regular hash. I got the mimosa and my lil one added a hot chocolate. Service is family friendly. Ambiance is comfy diner feel. Ample parking available. We came at 9:30 and it was a 20 minute wait. read more

GAMBLING SUPERSTITION: STEAK BREAKFAST Athletes have a routine before games. If their routine breaks the athletes feel back luck will come. I'm not a professional athlete however as a horse racing gambler I have a routine before I go to the racetrack. I eat breakfast at a diner where I order steak. If the steak is overcooked when I go to the racetrack I lose. I picked this place last Saturday as I wanted to try a new diner. I've been to Mel's Diner in San Francisco. This place appears to be a play on the town's name Milpitas. I sat at the counter. When I looked at the breakfast menu it lists ribeye, which I ordered. I asked the ribeye to be cooked medium rare. Instead of toast I paid extra for English muffin. Lately at diners I noticed that steaks served tend to be thin cut. When my ribeye was served the steak was thin cut. I was concerned because previous steaks I've ordered have been overcooked because they were thin cuts even though I requested to be cooked medium rare. Also those steaks tended to be dry. When I cut the ribeye juices were oozing. The ribeye was tasty and moist. I enjoyed my steak. After breakfast I headed to a parimutuel facility to bet on horse races. I ended up winning money at the track. My luck on the racetrack depends on how I enjoyed my steak still exists. I came back the following day. I noticed the day before the serving of chicken and waffle. I've seen pictures on Yelp of the chicken and waffle at Mil's Diner. The best chicken and waffles I ate at the Bay Area was at LB Steak on Santana Row in San Jose. The chicken and waffle at Mel's Diner is $9 less than at LB Steak. When the chicken and waffle was served there were four pieces of fried chicken drenched with honey on top of one waffle. I enjoyed the fried chicken and waffle at Mil's Diner. Is it better than I ate at LB Steak? Even though I get four pieces of fried chicken at Mil's Diner the single piece of fried chicken at LB Steak was super moist and what made that piece of chicken impressive was it was the breast, which tends to be dry. Even though I get two waffles at LB Steak the single waffle at Mil's Diner was crispy. I love my waffles to be crispy not soggy. What's my verdict? The chicken and waffle served at Mil's Diner is in my top two of chicken and waffle dishes in the Bay Area. When you enter Mil's Diner the place is small compared to most diners. Even though this place is small since I enjoyed my two breakfast servings I'll come to Mil's Diner to try new items. read more

I came here for a date! I love the menu and the cozy little mom and pop seating inside. The menu is pretty extensive and they even offer Latino dishes like huevo con chorizo with tortillas! I ordered the French toast and it was very surprising because the toast felt so rich and buttery. The flavor was absolutely delicious. It tasted like the batter was made with something thick and delicious, much unlike other French toasts I've tried. I would definitely love to try this place again! Loved the old timey classic diner vibe, cozy and nostalgic. I went with the #1 combo - they were able to do 1 bacon and 1 sausage which I appreciated, and it also came with 2 eggs, hash browns, and toast. I also got a buttermilk pancake on the side. The combo was pretty standard brunch, reliable and classic. I do think the hash browns could've been crispier though. The syrup for the buttermilk pancake was also kind of hardened, and it wasn't super liquidy like normal pancake syrup. Felt a bit plastic-like. Mil's Diner is definitely one of those old-school, local hole-in-the-wall spots. The place has a bit of a dated feel. The service was the highlight. Stopped by on a Wednesday morning and it was pretty busy. Ample parking which is a plus. There isn't a wait when you walk in which is great. Was greeted immediately once I entered. Definitely a homey old diner type feel and I noticed they have tons of regular at the location. You can tell the vibe and atmosphere is great here based on relationships with customers and team working there. What we ordered: My son got French Toast: it crispy and tasted good per my son lol. My daughter got the #3: Two pancakes, bacon with scrambled eggs. The pancakes were fluffy, and she loved how the butter melted immediately on the pancake. Eggs were scrambled perfectly and bacon wasn't too soggy or too hard. I got the all meat omelette: The omelette was hefty and was flavorful and delicious. The hash browns were good and wasn't oily. We stopped in to Mil's Diner for breakfast on our way out of town after a World Cup match. We had never been there before but were welcomed like family. After a short wait we sat in a clean booth (not at all sticky) and were served coffee and water right away. The variety of options and specials made it hard to decide what to order. Since we had a long drive ahead we decided to keep it simple and ordered eggs (scrambled & poached), sausage, hashbrowns, and Benedict. Everything was perfectly cooked! Food: The portion and the flavor is out of expectedly good! We came after a long walk in the morning and very lucky to be on the wait list earlier. I ordered the special of the day, which was a roast beef benedict. The beef was good, and while tasty, it was inconsistent. One egg poached perfectly, the other egg was overcooked...not even close. It was basically like a round hardboiled egg. Overall, pretty good...not bad, but I've had better. I would return, but probably order something different. I'm not a big fan of filling up on pointless carbs, but the pictures of French toast looked amazing. I would come back to try the French toast alone. Lastly, I know it's Milpitas, but a diner breakfast with a drink should NOT cost $24....especially if ordering the special of the day. I guess a decent, average experience. Came in to have breakfast with my sister. Look them up on yelp and it look promising. Host was friendly and service good but can't say my steak and egg was. My sister and I both got the ribeye steak and egg as it look really good on yelp pic. The steak was suppose to be a 12 ounce but didn't seem so to me as it was thin slice not like the picture for sure. We both ask for it to be cooked medium and it came out well done. Probably because steak so thin. My eggs were suppose to be over medium but it was over easy with white runny. My hash browns was burnt to me. Saving grace was the pancake which was nice and fluffy. I guess we could have sent our plate back but we decided not as it was busy and felt that the thinness of stealing may come out same. It's a small dinner so they want you in and out right away. TLDR: Back in the brunch rotation! So... my family has a tradition. Well... before the lockdown, we would go out and have brunch every Sat. That changed permanently. So now I would order online or by phone, go pick it up and bring it home so we can spend family time watching cooking shows on Netflix together. This place was on there for a while, but we had dropped it. But I thought I'd give this a try. And.... it's BACK BABEE! I had the corned beef hash and eggs. I like this style of corned beef hash, where it's not home-made, with the stringy beef. I like it mush, like from a can, but then pan-fried so it's crispy on the outside. This is like that. It also comes with FOUR EGGS! With egg prices, that's insane! But the eggs were scrambled fluffy. The hash browns taste good as well, none of that old oil smell. My wife ordered the omelet.. again FOUR EGGS. It was MASSIVE, but still light and fluffy.
