I initially wanted to rate my experience 3 stars because of one pretty big mistake. But I decided to change it to 4 stars because the manager did a great job fixing the situation. Our server was nice and mostly observant. Asked us if we had any allergies and put it in just in case. I'm allergic to shrimp. But when he brought out the food, my fiancé noticed there was shrimp in my pasta carbonara! I was in the bathroom at the time and didn't see the mistake. But my fiancé told me about it when I came back and I was shocked! Apparently there was a bunch of shrimp on top of my pasta. I'm glad my fiancé noticed and asked the server to take it back because that was horrifying. Luckily my allergy is mild and I wasn't there to see it. But it's still pretty bad considering pasta carbonara normally does not have shrimp in it nor was there an option for it. I was surprised the server didn't notice it considering he was the one that asked about food allergies. I understand the struggle of being busy in the restaurant industry and mistakes happen though. But food allergies is something that you really shouldn't mess up on and be careful with. Luckily, the manager (I think she was the manager) came to our table and personally apologized for the mistake. She acknowledged how awful this situation was and told me they were rushing to get a new plate out. She offered me a complimentary soup or salad. It was a Sunday evening and while flipping through the channels, a script caught my attention. I quickly turned it back to the History Channel - "The Food That Built America". It was as an actor playing David Overton. Hearing that name, I immediately knew what company this documentary was talking about as a restaurant industry veteran. One of the most successful food and beverage operations. The Cheesecake Factory. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The documentary noted that David convinced his parents to relocate to California to open a bakery selling his mom's cheesecakes. But they ran into orders for only one type of cheesecake. So, David wanted more. To open a restaurant. The Cheesecake Factory debuted in the late 1970's, where varieties of his mom's cheesecakes would be the draw for diners while offering a limited menu. Their risk paid-off, lines were out the door at the family's first operation in Beverly Hills. This publicly-traded company now has over 200 locations worldwide. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The cheesecake draw into The Cheesecake Factory in Waikīkī, the initial goal of the Overton's 48 years ago took hold of me. The desire, the craving to have a slice of their original cheesecake topped with strawberries and whipped cream. This moment was on my itinerary, listed as one of the "musts" for this trip. It couldn't be missed, not like before. Reservations were made on The Cheesecake Factory app months in-advance. Wait was minimal upon check-in, bypassing those in-line. I would highly recommend downloading the app and using this feature. The ambiance, whimsical eclectic opulence, eccentric extravagance with warm and cozy features. The lighting, dramatic with a soft warm glow. But it made it nearly impossible to read their massive "book-like" menu without the help of my cell phone flashlight. For all of us, including other diners as I witnessed and chuckled. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The Original Cheesecake with Strawberry Topping. I should've started with dessert first, not follow the norm of everyone else on the table. The Cheesecake Factory menu lists over 30 different cheesecake options. The velvety texture, smooth and extremely dense. I could feel the firm outer edges, the ultra-silky and luxurious center of the cheesecake with my fork. I made my way down to the sweet, golden graham cracker crust. A perfect balance of rich dairy flavor and sweetness with a slight tanginess. Topped with quality, machine draped whipped cream and glossy glazed strawberries. Luscious. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The Cheesecake Factory menu. I find it overwhelming, others find it as an opportunity. Where there's definitely something for everyone. The menu boasts over 200 items for a large operation that's always busy. I stood in awe, watching the culinary team in-action through the glass panels of the exhibition kitchen. Wow. A word of caution, stick to your gut and don't become overly excited with all the options on their menu. Because it's easy to get distracted, to change your original choice to something else. That was my mistake. With a menu this large and diverse, there's sure to be sacrifice in food quality and consistency. Does every dish, every 200+ items on the menu consistently deliver that wow factor? Or is each dish just subpar, where preparation and ingredients used are carefully chosen to quickly streamline the cooking process for a timely serving to the customer? I'll let you decide. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The dining room is massive, the menu is massive, the operation is massive. It sure seems like quantity is priority, not quality. And it showed in the service provided as well, unfortunately. A huge menu overwhelms diners, resulting in more time needed to choose. Like it did for the six of us. But our waiter seemed more interested in table turnover = more guests served = more tips. If felt like there was really no time to describe the dishes, to genuinely answer questions comfortably. To offer recommendations, to suggestive sell, to ask if another drink was needed. To create a relationship, to personalize our service just a bit. Everything felt basic, distanced, robotic, scripted, rushed. Was the overall service by the front team bad? No. But it wasn't memorable either in a positive way. Mostly disappointing compared to other dining experiences on this trip. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ An extremely diverse menu, generous portions, items made from scratch. The dynamic dining atmosphere captures you, the exhibition kitchen pulls you in with curiosity and awe. The Cheesecake Factory Waikīkī. Even with its downsides and flaws, would I still return to The Cheesecake Factory? Of course. To this Waikīkī location and others nationwide. Honest. It's their cheesecake. It's their ambiance. Came in for Happy hour and it was sorta felt like we weren't welcomed. first off, they only do happy hour in the bar areas, not regular tables. Second, it's first come first serve as well, host tells you to go get your own table. which brings me to my first disappointment. The host! the first person you talk to when you come in the establishment. The Host here on that day was kinda rude, which I tolerated that day cause I empathize with him since it looked really busy and he must've been dealing with a lot. but i just hoped they could've talked nicer since it is a hospitality position. Second, the tables aren't meant for groups! cheesecake factory intentionally makes the seating in bar area small for solo diners or max of 4 on the tall tables. but we had 5 adults and 1 baby, not very accommodating at all for a restaurant that supposed to be family friendly. Third: The servers! the servers are all mixed with different age groups. Nothing against young workers or older workers, but that day we had an older gentleman serve us that day and I was hoping for more nicer and quicker service. we sat on the table for about 10 mins before he came by with menus and asked us if we wanted waters. then another 10 mins for the water to come out. then we ordered 10 mins later. so in total I waited 30 mins at the table before I could even put a order in. At this point i was pretty irritated by the host, waiting to get a table and then waiting even more at the table. Also whenever I asked for something, he'd walk away and come back a few minutes later with the item I asked for. Well thanks but don't leave me wondering for 5 minutes if you heard me or not, at least confirm.. Once the food started to come out slowly, our round tall tables aren't meant filled up with just 2 items but we ordered 7 in total, how is this gonna work? the servers tells us to just combine the foods together and takeaway empty plates to have more space! The manager Ben is nine feet tall and the nicest, funniest man ever. It's worth the long waits just to see his smiling face and meet him. No, I'm not his mom. I have never left a negative review or any review at a restaurant but this experience was really disappointing and embarrassing, especially as a fellow server. I've been serving for 9 years, so I understand that restaurants get busy and mistakes happen. This wasn't about one mistake, it was the overall lack of service and communication. On 7/20/26, we checked in around 2:00 p.m. as a walk-in. The host asked if we were okay with outside seating for two, and we gladly accepted. We waited less than five minutes before being seated, which was great. After we sat down, things went downhill. We spent about five minutes looking over the menu, and then I realized no one had greeted us. I'm looking around, multiple servers and other staff were around but wasn't acknowledging us. A simple "I'll be right with you" would've gone a long way. Instead, we waited around 10-15 minutes before our server Brent K. came by. He immediately asked, "What can I get for you?" There was no introduction, no welcome, and no asking if it was our first time there. He went straight to asking if we were ready to order food. We had to remind him that we hadn't even ordered drinks yet. He responded with, "Oh, yeah!" We ordered sodas, waters, and four appetizers to share instead of entrees. Another 15-20 minutes passed before two of the four appetizers arrived, but we still didn't have our drinks. About five minutes later, our drinks finally came out. The third appetizer followed, and then the fourth arrived, but it was the wrong item. We ordered the pretzel bites and received the crab dip instead. We let the food runner know, assuming it had gone to the wrong table, but it turned out that the wrong item had been entered. The correct appetizer didn't arrive until about 15 minutes later. Mistakes happen, but what surprised me the most was that there was no acknowledgment or apology. As a server, I would've explained what happened, thanked the table for their patience, and made sure they knew I was working to fix it. By the time our final appetizer arrived, we'd already been there for over an hour, so I ordered a slice of red velvet cheesecake right away to save time. Thankfully, that came out without any issues, and I appreciated that he brought a to-go box and portion cups without us having to ask. When we were ready to leave, we paid using gift cards and cash and asked for change back. Brent picked up the checkbook, but then spent another 10-15 minutes taking other tables' orders and helping elsewhere before returning with our receipt and change. Once payment is picked up, processing it should usually be the first priority. He was nearby while we figured out the tip, which honestly made things uncomfortable. As a customer, I tip based on service. As a fellow server, I also know servers have to tip out bussers, bartenders, and hosts regardless of what they're tipped, so I left something instead of nothing. It hurt me because I love to tip extra when I dine out on my day off and get awesome service, but this was so bad that I was still thinking about it when I got home that evening. It left a mark. The biggest comparison was the table next to us. They were seated about 20 minutes after we were with a different server and finished 30 minutes before us. Our lunch consisted of appetizers and dessert, but we were there for an hour and 25 minutes. If the service was done properly from start to finish, we would've been out of there after 45-50 minutes minimum. What really left me wondering was where's the manager table touch? Was Brent overwhelmed? Was he new? Could he handle a 5-6 table section? But from a guest's perspective, there was almost no communication throughout the meal, and that's what made the experience so frustrating. I also couldn't help but think, what if I had been a secret shopper? This visit would've scored very bad, not because of one mistake, but because there were multiple missed service standards from start to finish. Greeting the table in 1-2 minutes, getting drinks out on time, communicating delays, correcting mistakes and handling payment properly are all basic parts of the dining experience. I also don't want the standard corporate response telling me to ask for a manager next time. Looking back, I probably should have but I was honestly in shock and didn't want to embarrass Brent or make his shift harder. I'm leaving this review because I genuinely hope it leads to a pre-shift meeting with the staff and better communication for future guests. We visited the Waikiki location of the Cheesecake Factory for lunch on a Saturday and were surprised to find the restaurant half empty - normally there's a line out the door when we're passing by. The host printed a ticket for us and asked us to stand on the side for someone to pick us up, and that's when things went downhill. After standing around for a few minutes, a second employee came and brought us to a table. The check from the previous party was still on the table, and there was water spilled on the ground. The man who showed us to the table seemed to not notice either - he dropped us off and was on his way, telling us our server would be by shortly. Seems like if someone has a dedicated task of bringing you to your table, that table should at least be clean and ready for new customers? The food was lackluster. We tried the arancini appetizer and found that, while it had a nice flavor, it was also incredibly salty. I also ordered the chilaquiles from the weekend brunch menu which was advertised as having "tender slow-cooked pork" - what I got was extremely dry and closer to pork jerky. +1 star because our actual server (not the one who brought us to the table and left) was attentive and friendly, but unfortunately that was the only redeeming aspect of this visit. read more

I've been here a handful of times. The last visit was the worst of all. We didn't have any reservations and were seated pretty quickly. We had a party of two. The couple next to us requested boxes shortly after they received their food, which we thought was strange. They probably waited really long, were over it, and wanted to eat their dinner in the comfort of their hotel room. We got some bread and placed our order. My husband got the 4 cheese pasta with chicken. I ordered the two egg breakfast with bacon and rice. Two women next to us, who had a different waiter, ordered after us and got their order shortly afterwards. We waited for our order for at least half an hour. Our water came by to say sorry for the wait and offered us more bread. We said yes. But we never got a second basket of bread. My husband's order was correct. My order came with bread instead of the rice I ordered. I pointed this out then got rice. For dessert my husband ordered the cinnamon roll cheesecake and I ordered the warm apple crisp. He enjoyed his cheesecake. However, I didn't enjoy my warm apple crisp as much. The icecream was half melted, the apple crisp was too sweet, and the ratio of apple crisp to icecream was not equal. Not the best experience here unfortunately. We had a small party and it took around two and a half hours to get our food. The waitress dropped the hot pretzel appetizer on one of our party members. We did eventually receive another pretzel appetizer, but it was long after we had finished our meal AND we were still charged for it. Along with this, all of our meals were coming out at vastly different times. By the time I was done eating my meal, one of my other party members was just receiving theirs. The place is so convenient and the lanai is a great place to watch all the people walking by. Of course our favorite is always the pastas. Lastly, I do always appreciate the people, friendly and really courteous. The only reason I'm Giving it a 3-star is the wait. I am not talking about the long lines and the wait to get a table. I know how it gets like especially in the evening. We were actually seated in less than 10 minutes because we came in before 5p. The 3-star is for waiting our food to arrive, which came in 35 minutes after. Just our luck that we didn't order any appetizers coz we thought will get our food faster since the place were not crowded. Anyway, the bread filled us up till the food arrived. We found out that almost everyone got their food late. The table next to us also were waiting long and they seated almost the same time like us. This place is super busy. I highly recommend making reservations. I got the truffle honey chicken. I thought the plating of the asparagus was a bit weird. The portion of chicken was HUGE. I need to remember we should split the entree. The chicken was still quite hot which was surprising. I'm used to food being lukewarm especially in a chain restaurant. Went here for my birthday and i was craving a cheesecake! We made reservations online atleast 1-2 weeks prior with a comment that there's a special occasion that we're celebrating. Easy. We showed up at 6:45p our reservation time. We didn't get our food until around 8:30. Check in was no problem. However, we were seated all the way in the back. Wait time took too long that we had 3 refills of bread before we had our entrees come out. The restaurant is so huge that it makes staffing look understaffed and it actually was when we compared the wait times to order our entrees. It was just the whole timeline that was not good. It's kind of loud in there which i expected. Our bartender was also our waiter. I do commend the bartender for his service because he was accommodating his bar AND our table simultaneously. We got our cheesecakes to go because we had a feeling that it would take too long to deliver the cheesecakes served on a plate. Watching him operate was like watching someone who has completely mastered their craft. Calm under pressure, efficient without rushing, and professional the entire time. It genuinely felt like he had eight arms like an octopus. But what stood out even more was how he treated people. There was a sweet woman named Mary sitting at the end of the bar--clearly a regular. Joe treated her with so much kindness, respect, and attentiveness, you would've thought she owned the place or was family. Her drink never sat empty for more than a few seconds, often refreshed before she even realized it herself, usually with fresh lemons ready to go. It was honestly one of the coolest parts of the night--seeing that level of care and consistency. You don't fake that. And even when I tried to give Joe credit for how incredible he was, he deflected it and gave praise to his team. That's leadership. That's humility. That's someone who understands the bigger picture. Cheesecake waikiki I've been frequenting Cheesecake Waikiki since it's inception and it has always impressed me in terms of service, quality, value, speed, and the ability to perform at scale for some of the largest crowds I've ever seen. Unfortunately something has gone terribly wrong here and is probably why the lines have dwindled and half the tables were empty on a Saturday evening for dinner. They removed the reduced-size portion menu completely as an option for dinners, and pumped up the prices so much I had to do a double take. Entrees that used to be $20 are now almost $30. Customers are demanding value at restaurants these days and this CF is not delivering. Although the mac & cheese balls were good, that's where it ended. A simple burger took over 45 minutes. When it arrived the cheese was disintegrated. It was tasteless, dry, unseasoned, flavorless and just unpleasant to eat. Fries were old and stale like they came from bad oil. I was hopeful the Bronzino (usually a favorite at any other location) would be better. Instead it was encumbered with some sort of breading which made it heavy and oily. I ask for a pasta accompaniment instead of mashed potatoes and literally got a bowl of dry pasta. The whole dish lacked flavor, effort, or inspiration. Maybe the most disappointing was the smug, dismissive staff. When I questioned them on the timing of our entrees, they went into immediate denial lying mode, claiming it was 20 minutes when it was clearly 48 minutes as evidenced by the printed receipt which shows the time. We made our complaints known about the sorry excuse of a burger but it fell on deaf ears. One note on ambience. I've always felt it was way too dark inside with barely any lighting. I often need a flashlight to read the menu. The weirdo red lights overhead make it even worse and also do a disservice to how the food is supposed to look. Can't say for sure but it feels as if a change in management has occurred. A decline like this is usually linked to the top. Overall, dinner tonight at the cheesecake factory at the royal hawaiian was very pleasant. Some notes about what we ordered, the pepperoni flatbread with hot honey was a 1000/10!! DEFINITELY will order again! the fallafle chicken and roasted garlic pasta was alright. i wanted the pasta carbonara but it was unavailable but our server (very sweet and caring definitely a 10/10 server) recommended this and i wasnt mad at it. My friend ordered the dipping cheeseburger was also good. the burger itself was very tasty but the Au Jus dip was kinda salty like shoyu but it was no problem lol. Another +1 on this experience: My friend accidentally left her leftovers on the table as we left and when we went to go back and grab it, it was gone. PROS The server, Brooke, was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and patient. We went for my birthday and was very apologetic about the food taking a long time and she came around multiple times to check in with us. Our appetizer was delayed and came out with our entree, so the manager came out and personally apologized for the wait as well. He was also nice and comped our apps. Food was good, overall. The Parmesan-Herb Crusted Chicken was a bit dry and the mashed potatoes were incredibly dense, but everything else was delicious. Chicken Madeira was the superior chicken dish because the sauce was so flavorful, but it was also served with the dreaded mashed potatoes and the kitchen ran out of mushrooms. Cajun Jambalaya Pasta tasted great and not as spicy as they described. And Spicy Chicken Chipotle Pasta was like if you made a taco into a pasta dish. CONS Service is INCREDIBLY SLOW. We went on a Tuesday night thinking it wouldn't be too bad. It took over 2 hours from the time we checked in to the time we finally paid and left. I regret dining in since it took us so long to get seated, order our food, pay and leave. The ambiance in the restaurant feels very frantic and disorganized. Based on other reviews, this place is ALWAYS busy. The restaurant is very noisy (and we were seated in the outdoor section). Service was slow, the kitchen ran out of essential ingredients, and our server didn't know which items on the menu were unavailable. We came for my birthday and I was supposed to get a free slice of cheesecake, but when we checked the bill, it wasn't marked as free. It's a pricey place. The Cheesecake Factory is infamous for their enormous menu and gigantic portions, but I honestly don't think the portions were that huge. It was the size of a hearty meal, but not worth ~$30 per entree. None of us finished our meal not because the portions were huge, but because we filled up on bread since we waited so long for the entrees to arrive. Also the Mac n Cheese balls were $21 for 4 balls! This location also does NOT carry the entire Cheesecake Factory menu. So make sure your favorite entree is there before trying to order! TIPS Order take out unless you have time to kill. Make reservations, if you really want to dine-in. We made reservations a couple days before arrival and got seated in about 20 min. A guy before us just put his name down and they said the current wait was 50 min. Order your cheesecake early. You're going to be waiting awhile for everything to arrive and your cheesecake flavor might run out before you even get the opportunity to order dessert. OVERALL I love the idea of the Cheesecake Factory and we enjoyed our food that night. But given the high prices, long waits, small-ish portions, and frantic, noisy atmosphere I had to take off a couple stars. We were all exhausted by the time we left and it kind of ruined my birthday. We came here for the free slice of cheesecake and I had my eyes on a specific flavor. They had 3 slices when we were seated and ran out before we even got to order dessert. I want to start by saying I normally do not dine at The Cheesecake Factory but my pregnant wife and another couple insisted. From the start when we were texted letting us know the table was ready, we went in and waited another 15 minutes just to be seated. The waitress took about 10 minutes to ask us for drinks and that point we just ordered all our food at once. Multiple attempts to get refills on our drinks were done and the waitress was just overwhelmed or preoccupied. Our food all came out cold to touch and my order was completely wrong but I did not want to say anything at this point due to the time we had already been waiting. At the end, we asked for boxes and the waitress asked if we wanted dessert and we said yes but did not bring a menu for desserts and so we had to ask... The waitress didn't bring us our boxes until we asked again because she was too busy speaking to other staff at the stand up area. After being seated, there was an additional wait of over an hour for our food; once again, the establishment was even emptier than before. He is a very professional and well-spoken individual, although I felt that after this was communicated, absolutely nothing was done to make the situation better. No complaints about the food, the food is always good. But I called in a pickup order consisting of 3 items and asked for extra ranch. As instructed, I showed up 35 minutes later and when I got my bag, I asked if there was extra ranch, they confirmed there is and I left. When I got to my room, there was zero ranch in my bag. I didn't eat most of my pizza because I don't like it without ranch. Customer service can use improvement to verify orders. So we ended up at The Cheesecake Factory for lunch...travel thousands of miles from home and go to a chain restaurant. The reason why is because sure we are never disappointed when we eat at The Cheesecake Factory. I loved the decor of the restaurant. It was open and inviting. We didn't have to wait long - likely because we went around 2:30 (even then we waited 15 minutes for a table for 2). That's ok as it gave me time to check out the cheesecake options. We split the potsticker appetizer, Caesar salad, and a quesadilla. Wonderful!!! Then the dessert- like I said in my picture description...OMG. We got the Oreo cheesecake. It was amazing. This was the most I've ever paid for food that was so terrible. First of all, you almost have to have a reservation to get into this location and then you still wait to be seated. Second, service was slow and often absent. Third, the food tasted overcooked (almost burnt meat and rubbery green beans) and too salty. I started to suspect that we were being pranked. The dining area was crowded, noisy and tables were too close together. Three of us had shrimp lettuce wraps, steak and potatoes, meatloaf, green beans and potatoes. They only brought out two pieces of bread twice despite the long wait for our food. All the food was overly salted for some reason. It tasted terrible and we could not finish it. The server came by a couple of times and then when we needed him most, he disappeared like the Last Airbender. He resurfaced to do our checks. We went here because we were familiar with the menu, but will never go back to this one again. It was close to the hotels, but that is the only thing to recommend it--Just terrible. Came here on a random Thursday night with my partner. We parked in the Royal Hawaiian Center. It was frustrating at the end because we expected to have complimentary parking per the promotion on their instagram but the help desk to validate was closed so we had to pay for parking. Upon arrival we had to wait a moment as this cheesecake factory is always very busy. Once we were seated we were very quickly helped with water and placed our orders, then our bread. We were seated by the open window which was nice. It took a while for everything to arrive but the bread helped hold us down. FOOD: - Fried Mac n Cheese: 10/10, one of the most popular apps here, and for a good reason. So indulgent, a must order. Wish there were a little more sauce though. - Chicken Madeira: 10/10, also one of their most popular dishes here. Everything was super flavorful and I enjoyed every bite. - Four cheese pasta: 6/10, my partner ordered this and added chicken. Pathetic amount of chicken inside. The pasta has also been sitting for a while. The surface was dry; when you let pasta sit, many times the sauce starts to separate and it has started to do that as well.
