Came in for Happy hour and it was sorta felt like we weren't welcomed. first off, they only do happy hour in the bar areas, not regular tables. Second, it's first come first serve as well, host tells you to go get your own table. which brings me to my first disappointment. The host! the first person you talk to when you come in the establishment. The Host here on that day was kinda rude, which I tolerated that day cause I empathize with him since it looked really busy and he must've been dealing with a lot. but i just hoped they could've talked nicer since it is a hospitality position. Second, the tables aren't meant for groups! cheesecake factory intentionally makes the seating in bar area small for solo diners or max of 4 on the tall tables. but we had 5 adults and 1 baby, not very accommodating at all for a restaurant that supposed to be family friendly. Third: The servers! the servers are all mixed with different age groups. Nothing against young workers or older workers, but that day we had an older gentleman serve us that day and I was hoping for more nicer and quicker service. we sat on the table for about 10 mins before he came by with menus and asked us if we wanted waters. then another 10 mins for the water to come out. then we ordered 10 mins later. so in total I waited 30 mins at the table before I could even put a order in. At this point i was pretty irritated by the host, waiting to get a table and then waiting even more at the table. Also whenever I asked for something, he'd walk away and come back a few minutes later with the item I asked for. Well thanks but don't leave me wondering for 5 minutes if you heard me or not, at least confirm.. Once the food started to come out slowly, our round tall tables aren't meant filled up with just 2 items but we ordered 7 in total, how is this gonna work? the servers tells us to just combine the foods together and takeaway empty plates to have more space! THIS IS A CORPORATE PROBLEM, NOT A SERVER PROBLEM. Get bigger tables! Food was mid overall, did not like the experience or the food and i've came here many times over the years, this was just one of the worst dinners I've had here. they have validated parking for only 1 hour, you pay if over one hour. well i waited almost total of 1 hour before I even got to order... crazy right? so what you do is instead of getting validation at cheesecake factory, you take your receipt and go to RHC customer service for kama aina 3hr free parking with purchase of over $25 (the cheesecake receipt). The service here is excellent. I'm always surprised that a restaurant of this size with such a large menu is able to give such good service. The food is very consistent and I was pleased with my portion size. They offer validated parking, gift cards, cheesecakes to go and much more. Great waikiki location.

For sure a great spot to come check out while in Honolulu.... Location and vibe of the place was great ... don't expect anything less from them . JJ was awesome ... she was very personable and super helpful in letting us know what to choose for dinner ... The food was really good For sure will be back

I have never left a negative review or any review at a restaurant but this experience was really disappointing and embarrassing, especially as a fellow server. I've been serving for 9 years, so I understand that restaurants get busy and mistakes happen. This wasn't about one mistake, it was the overall lack of service and communication. On 7/20/26, we checked in around 2:00 p.m. as a walk-in. The host asked if we were okay with outside seating for two, and we gladly accepted. We waited less than five minutes before being seated, which was great. After we sat down, things went downhill. We spent about five minutes looking over the menu, and then I realized no one had greeted us. I'm looking around, multiple servers and other staff were around but wasn't acknowledging us. A simple "I'll be right with you" would've gone a long way. Instead, we waited around 10-15 minutes before our server Brent K. came by. He immediately asked, "What can I get for you?" There was no introduction, no welcome, and no asking if it was our first time there. He went straight to asking if we were ready to order food. We had to remind him that we hadn't even ordered drinks yet. He responded with, "Oh, yeah!" We ordered sodas, waters, and four appetizers to share instead of entrees. Another 15-20 minutes passed before two of the four appetizers arrived, but we still didn't have our drinks. About five minutes later, our drinks finally came out. The third appetizer followed, and then the fourth arrived, but it was the wrong item. We ordered the pretzel bites and received the crab dip instead. We let the food runner know, assuming it had gone to the wrong table, but it turned out that the wrong item had been entered. The correct appetizer didn't arrive until about 15 minutes later. Mistakes happen, but what surprised me the most was that there was no acknowledgment or apology. As a server, I would've explained what happened, thanked the table for their patience, and made sure they knew I was working to fix it. By the time our final appetizer arrived, we'd already been there for over an hour, so I ordered a slice of red velvet cheesecake right away to save time. Thankfully, that came out without any issues, and I appreciated that he brought a to-go box and portion cups without us having to ask. When we were ready to leave, we paid using gift cards and cash and asked for change back. Brent picked up the checkbook, but then spent another 10-15 minutes taking other tables' orders and helping elsewhere before returning with our receipt and change. Once payment is picked up, processing it should usually be the first priority. He was nearby while we figured out the tip, which honestly made things uncomfortable. As a customer, I tip based on service. As a fellow server, I also know servers have to tip out bussers, bartenders, and hosts regardless of what they're tipped, so I left something instead of nothing. It hurt me because I love to tip extra when I dine out on my day off and get awesome service, but this was so bad that I was still thinking about it when I got home that evening. It left a mark. The biggest comparison was the table next to us. They were seated about 20 minutes after we were with a different server and finished 30 minutes before us. Our lunch consisted of appetizers and dessert, but we were there for an hour and 25 minutes. If the service was done properly from start to finish, we would've been out of there after 45-50 minutes minimum. What really left me wondering was where's the manager table touch? Was Brent overwhelmed? Was he new? Could he handle a 5-6 table section? But from a guest's perspective, there was almost no communication throughout the meal, and that's what made the experience so frustrating. I also couldn't help but think, what if I had been a secret shopper? This visit would've scored very bad, not because of one mistake, but because there were multiple missed service standards from start to finish. Greeting the table in 1-2 minutes, getting drinks out on time, communicating delays, correcting mistakes and handling payment properly are all basic parts of the dining experience. I also don't want the standard corporate response telling me to ask for a manager next time. Looking back, I probably should have but I was honestly in shock and didn't want to embarrass Brent or make his shift harder. I'm leaving this review because I genuinely hope it leads to a pre-shift meeting with the staff and better communication for future guests. Restaurants have off days, but this experience simply wasn't what I'd expect from The Cheesecake Factory in Waikiki.

I've been here a handful of times. The last visit was the worst of all. We didn't have any reservations and were seated pretty quickly. We had a party of two. The couple next to us requested boxes shortly after they received their food, which we thought was strange. They probably waited really long, were over it, and wanted to eat their dinner in the comfort of their hotel room. We got some bread and placed our order. My husband got the 4 cheese pasta with chicken. I ordered the two egg breakfast with bacon and rice. Two women next to us, who had a different waiter, ordered after us and got their order shortly afterwards. We waited for our order for at least half an hour. Our water came by to say sorry for the wait and offered us more bread. We said yes. But we never got a second basket of bread. My husband's order was correct. My order came with bread instead of the rice I ordered. I pointed this out then got rice. For dessert my husband ordered the cinnamon roll cheesecake and I ordered the warm apple crisp. He enjoyed his cheesecake. However, I didn't enjoy my warm apple crisp as much. The icecream was half melted, the apple crisp was too sweet, and the ratio of apple crisp to icecream was not equal. I'm not sure why our server's food delivery was extremely delayed compared to our neighboring table. This was the worst Cheesecake experience we'd ever had.

We had a family dinner at Cheesecake Factory. Big portions, definitely can be shared. We really liked their salad (we were told it is served only at Waikiki location). Their mocktails are pretty good. Attentive service. We enjoyed sitting outside.

We have been going in this restaurant for as long as I can remember, and the ones by Waikīkī location was our favorite restaurant. The place is so convenient and the lanai is a great place to watch all the people walking by. Great for family, tourists, friends, etc. Also, the food in this place is really amazing, not just the cheesecake but also so the main course we have tried almost each one. Of course our favorite is always the pastas. Lastly, I do always appreciate the people, friendly and really courteous. The only reason I'm Giving it a 3-star is the wait. I am not talking about the long lines and the wait to get a table. I know how it gets like especially in the evening. We were actually seated in less than 10 minutes because we came in before 5p. The 3-star is for waiting our food to arrive, which came in 35 minutes after. Just our luck that we didn't order any appetizers coz we thought will get our food faster since the place were not crowded. Anyway, the bread filled us up till the food arrived. We found out that almost everyone got their food late. The table next to us also were waiting long and they seated almost the same time like us. Anyway, the manager served their food and apologized for the meal being late and one of the main course was even behind. In addition, she compted her meal. I called her attention and told her our meal has not arrived as well. She said she'll check on it. However, she never came back. Luckily, our waiter-Ericsson (who's so attentive and nice) was coming to bring our food-finally. We will still continue to eat and visit!

This place is super busy. I highly recommend making reservations. I got the truffle honey chicken. I thought the plating of the asparagus was a bit weird. The portion of chicken was HUGE. I need to remember we should split the entree. The chicken was still quite hot which was surprising. I'm used to food being lukewarm especially in a chain restaurant. The crust was perfectly crunchy and moist one juicy on the inside. The honey wasn't too sweet. The mashed potatoes were seasoned perfectly and very flavorful. The server was very friendly and attentive despite having a lot of tables.

Went here for my birthday and i was craving a cheesecake! We made reservations online atleast 1-2 weeks prior with a comment that there's a special occasion that we're celebrating. Easy. We showed up at 6:45p our reservation time. We didn't get our food until around 8:30. Check in was no problem. However, we were seated all the way in the back. Wait time took too long that we had 3 refills of bread before we had our entrees come out. The restaurant is so huge that it makes staffing look understaffed and it actually was when we compared the wait times to order our entrees. It was just the whole timeline that was not good. It's kind of loud in there which i expected. Our bartender was also our waiter. I do commend the bartender for his service because he was accommodating his bar AND our table simultaneously. We got our cheesecakes to go because we had a feeling that it would take too long to deliver the cheesecakes served on a plate. The dessert was good but it didn't have its signature whipped cream on the side like it usually does. The food was good, highlight was the tamale cakes. Presentation on the angel hair dish was no good. Tasty but as far as for effort, it could've been better.

With a similar aesthetic to other Cheesecake Factories, this location still feels somewhat unique. With their open windows the restaurant is filled with a nice tropical breeze. I came here for a drink (BLUE HAWAIIAN) and a slice of cheesecake (because you always need to get one when you go) with a friend around open. Both were delicious. Though the place was pretty empty while we stayed, bar service was still a little slow but still friendly; in the end we both enjoyed our visit.

This is a great place to go to catch up with friends and chat for a while! However, if you want to have a quick meal, you might want to consider another establishment. This place is always packed, so there can be a long wait if you don't have a reservation. Our server, Jackie, was extremely accommodating and friendly. They were out of a few menu options, but she was very helpful in helping us find alternatives! I got the four cheese pasta and while it was yummy, it wasn't anything special. Dessert was the real star of the show! I know people come here for cheesecake, but the chocolate tower truffle cake is worth trying too!

My wife and I had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory for the first time ever, and this ended up being one of the most memorable dining experiences we've had--anywhere. Not just because of the food (which was excellent), but because of the level of service we experienced. We came in with a gift card, thinking we'd save a little money while on vacation in Hawaii. When we arrived, the line was stretched out the door and honestly a bit intimidating. We were fully expecting a long wait... but within about 10 minutes, everything changed. A well-dressed, well-spoken young man approached us in line and greeted us with a genuine, "Good evening, how are you?"--not the usual rushed restaurant greeting. That small moment stood out immediately. It felt personal, respectful, and intentional. That man was Joe--the head bartender--and the absolute MVP of the night. He let us know that while table wait times were long, we could be seated immediately at the bar. We took that option without hesitation--and I'm glad we did, because what followed was next-level service. Joe the Bartender -- The Gold Standard of Hospitality I don't say this lightly: Joe is one of the best I've ever seen do it. From the moment we sat down, he was in complete control of everything happening behind that bar--and beyond it. * He was making drinks for the entire restaurant * Managing multiple guests at the bar * Holding full conversations * Listening to orders without even needing to look directly at you * Remembering every detail without writing things down His awareness is unreal. You could be mid-sentence, and he already heard you, processed it, and had it handled. At one point, he was clearly slammed--tickets coming in, drinks being fired out nonstop--and yet he still noticed a table across the way waiting on bread from another server. Instead of ignoring it, he stepped in and took care of it himself. Not once--multiple times. That told me everything I needed to know about his pride in his work. Watching him operate was like watching someone who has completely mastered their craft. Calm under pressure, efficient without rushing, and professional the entire time. It genuinely felt like he had eight arms like an octopus. But what stood out even more was how he treated people. There was a sweet woman named Mary sitting at the end of the bar--clearly a regular. Joe treated her with so much kindness, respect, and attentiveness, you would've thought she owned the place or was family. Her drink never sat empty for more than a few seconds, often refreshed before she even realized it herself, usually with fresh lemons ready to go. It was honestly one of the coolest parts of the night--seeing that level of care and consistency. You don't fake that. And even when I tried to give Joe credit for how incredible he was, he deflected it and gave praise to his team. That's leadership. That's humility. That's someone who understands the bigger picture. The Cheesecake Factory needs to recognize what they have in this guy--he's worth every penny and then some. Food -- Hearty, Flavorful, and Worth It Now let's talk about the food--because it absolutely delivered. We started with the fried pickle fries with ranch, and these were a hit right out of the gate. Thick-cut, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and not overly greasy. The ranch paired perfectly--cool, creamy, and balanced. For the price, it's one of the better appetizers you'll find. My wife ordered the fish tacos, which came with four generously sized tacos, plus black beans and white rice. These weren't small tacos either--they were loaded. The fish was flaky, fresh, and well-seasoned, and everything was balanced really nicely with the sides. She couldn't even finish them, which says a lot about the portion size. I went with the Cuban sandwich and fries, along with a cappuccino and a fruit smoothie. The Cuban was dialed in: * The bread was toasted perfectly--not too hard, not rubbery * The meat was flavorful and well-portioned * The mustard didn't overpower anything (which can easily happen) * The cheese melted just right and brought everything together The fries? Massive portion. Easily enough for two people, and I still ended up taking a good amount home. And of course--you can't come here without cheesecake. We grabbed: * Lemon raspberry cheesecake * Toasted s'mores cheesecake Both were rich, flavorful, and exactly what you'd hope for. Final Thoughts Yes--there's going to be a wait. That's just part of the deal here. But if you're a party of two, I highly recommend sitting at the bar. Not only will you likely get seated faster, but if you're lucky enough to land in Joe's section, you're in for something special. Outstanding food, great atmosphere, and truly elite-level service. Joe the Bartender is the real deal. Don't miss out and make sure you say hi to Mary too! - Dr. Rick

The Cheesecake Factory Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The Cheesecake Factory

Do they have gluten free bread?

How' busy does it get during a Saturday afternoon? Give and take say for a party of 5+ yo cheesecake staff mahalos in advanced foe the response back

It's insanely busy at the weekends, even most days of the week lunchtime and afternoon/evenings. Expect at least a 20-30 minute wait. But try to grab an outdoor table facing Kalakaua Ave. It's a great people-watching location while dining!

Is there a Monte Cristo on the menu?

Yes they do, it's called The Cuban.

Is there any special pricing for Happy Hour? Thank you for any help or tips with me. 🤗

Yes, there is. But it's very limited and mostly well drinks. However, the bar, which is small, is rather cramped and chaotic because you can eat there too. There are much better places for Happy Hour up and down Kalakaua Avenue if you know what you…

And if you are visiting…read moreOʻahu, skip the tourist traps in Waikīkī and drive 10 minutes to this incredible local gem. Trust me, just go! Everything about our experience was exceptional. From the warmest hospitality to the best food we had in Honolulu, XO completely exceeded our expectations. We only wish we had a restaurant like this back home in Chicago. Every dish was memorable. The Hamachi Crudo was the best we had on the island, fresh, vibrant, and perfectly citrusy balanced. The fried chicken absolutely lived up to the hype and then some. My personal favorite was the perfectly seared scallop with crusted shrimp, an unforgettable combination. My husband and I also decided to add the salmon, and we were so glad we did. Every bite was plump, fresh, and beautifully blackened. What truly blew us away was the value. We've been fortunate enough to dine at Alinea and EL Ideas in Chicago, and XO reminded us of what those restaurants might have inspired at a fraction of the price. The level of creativity, execution, and care that goes into every plate is extraordinary, yet the experience is incredibly approachable. We left completely satisfied, already talking about when we could come back. One bonus, if it's your thing! It's currently BYOB while awaiting their liquor license renewal in August, so if you enjoy pairing your own wine or drinks with dinner, take advantage of it while you can. And do not even think about skipping dessert. The Brown Butter Bunny Mochi was the single best sweet bite of our entire trip, even edging out the delicious malasadas we raved about all week. Whether you take an Uber, rent a car, or make the short drive from Waikīkī, it's worth every minute. This is the kind of place locals should be proud of and visitors will never forget. If you want to eat like a local while treating yourself to one of the best meals on the island, XO is the place. Just go!

But since we ate a lot there we happily walked back. Food (4 stars) + The lunch buffet is $33 for adults and $17 for kids, which is a pretty fair deal given that my resort meal burgers were like $30! + Kimo's Original Hula Pie dessert is iconic--macadamia nut ice cream, fudge, and cookie crust--5 stars. It's sweet and some may say overly, but in the best way. + The shrimp (lightly fried) was a standout--crispy, flavorful, and easily 4 stars. + The poke station was fresh and fun, with a server adding toppings--4 stars for that too. They have the standard fishes of ahi, mahi and salmon. Was the server necessary? Probably not but I thought its a nice touch. ~ Chicken teriyaki was fine, though my daughter wasn't a fan--I'd say 3.5 stars. ~ The beef (I think it was boneless kalbi?) was flavorful but a bit tough--3.5 stars. Service/Ambiance (4.5 stars) + Our server was excellent--water always topped off, and staff was plentiful. + Tropical beach resort vibes all around, and ots really close to the beach which is very inviting. - A bit tricky to find due to construction and location inside a hotel, but I imagine that's temporary. Overall, a solid 4 stars. I might return for dinner someday, but for lunch, the buffet is definitely the way to go!

When our party first walked in, we were a tiny bit skeptical because of the empty room (which was beautifully decorated). However as each course came out, we were blown away and didn't know how the restaurant was not way busier for a Saturday night! Each dish/course was well thought out and prepared to perfection. We were all taken by surprise in a great way. The head chef Anthony was very passionate and excited about his work and that was very refreshing! Overall a wonderful experience and we will be back!

The progression of dishes felt thoughtful and creative-- * Crispy Salt & Vinegar Chicken Skin (the perfect starter crunch) * Soupe de Poisson (deep, comforting flavors) * Pina Colada Granita (a refreshing palate cleanser) * Pan Seared Scallops (my personal favorite--perfectly caramelized and tender) * Double Cut Rack of Lamb (succulent and cooked to perfection) * Lemon Crème Brûlée Tart (a sweet, bright finish) Every plate was elegant, well-executed, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere strikes a balance between sophisticated and welcoming. Dim lighting, intimate tables, and quiet elegance make you feel like you've stepped into a hidden gem in the middle of Kaimuki. Honestly, I felt like a celebrity dining here. Service was polished but never pretentious--our server was attentive, knowledgeable about the courses, and kept the pacing of the meal just right. For the level of creativity and execution, Carte Blanche feels like an affordable luxury in Honolulu's dining scene. Perfect for anniversaries, date nights, or anytime you want an elevated experience without flying to the mainland. Highly recommend booking a reservation--you'll want to savor every moment here.
