Starting with the pasta, it was very dry and had way too many flavors going on at once. It just didn't taste balanced or enjoyable. The Carne Asada Steak was also very dry and lacked flavor, even with the sauce provided on the plate. The rice seemed undercooked, and the mashed potatoes were dry and had no taste at all. I normally don't take situations like this to social media, but what happened to me today at The Cheesecake Factory at Biltmore Fashion Park in Phoenix, Arizona needs to be talked about. I went there with four of my coworkers expecting what anyone expects when they go out to eat: good food, good service, and to be treated with basic dignity and respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. From the moment our waitress approached our table, I noticed a difference in the way she treated me compared with everyone else. She looked at me in a way that made me feel like she was disgusted by my presence. And I wasn't the only person who noticed it--my coworkers noticed the behavior as well. When we finished ordering, everyone handed her their menus. She took everyone else's menu, but when I held mine out to her, she left my hand extended and did not take it. Later, when I was finally able to give her my menu as she passed by, she tossed it onto a nearby cabinet in a dismissive manner. Then our food came. She placed everyone else's food on the table, but when she got to me, instead of placing my plate down like she had done for everyone else, she tried to hand it to me. I told her, "No, you need to place my food on the table like you placed everyone else's food." Then she came back to top off everyone's drinks. Once again, everyone else received service. I did not. She skipped my drink and did not ask me if I wanted anything else. At some point, you have to stop calling things coincidences or oversights. When one person at a table is repeatedly treated differently from everyone sitting around them, there is a problem. I experienced her treatment of me as racial profiling and discrimination. What made the situation even more upsetting was what happened when I complained to management. Instead of making me feel heard, the response I received was essentially that the waitress was "not that kind of worker." But that response completely misses the point. Someone else's previous experience with an employee does not invalidate what happened to me that day. Whatever kind of employee she may normally be, this is how I was treated. And I want to make something VERY clear: THIS IS NOT ABOUT A FREE MEAL. They offered to comp the meals. We did not need our meals comped. We ate our food, and the food was delicious. We were not looking for free food. A complaint about discrimination should not automatically be treated as though the person complaining is looking for compensation. I wanted respect. I wanted accountability. I wanted to be treated like everyone else at that table. People go to restaurants for more than food. We go for the atmosphere, the experience, the service, and the opportunity to enjoy ourselves and feel welcome. I did not feel welcome. I felt singled out. I felt embarrassed in front of my coworkers. Most importantly, I felt dehumanized. Imagine sitting at a table with your coworkers and watching everyone around you receive the same basic courtesies while you are repeatedly treated differently. Imagine having other people at the table notice it too. Then imagine finally speaking up about how that treatment made you feel, only to have your experience minimized. That is unacceptable. This is bigger than a menu. It is bigger than a plate. It is bigger than a drink refill. It is about the pattern of treatment and how that treatment made it clear to me that I was being regarded differently from everyone else sitting at that table. I am sharing this because my voice deserves to be heard. I am not asking for a free meal. I am not looking for a handout. I am asking The Cheesecake Factory to take experiences like mine seriously and to ensure that every customer who walks through its doors is treated with the same dignity and respect. No one should spend their money at a restaurant and leave feeling like they were less than because of the way they were treated. The food may have been good, but no meal is good enough to make being treated this way acceptable. @TheCheesecakeFactory, I hope you hear me. I hope you investigate what happened. And most importantly, I hope you make sure another customer never has to leave one of your restaurants feeling the way I did today. Discrimination is not customer service. Overall, this was a terrible experience. We asked to be reseated because we weren't receiving any service, and unfortunately, things didn't improve after being moved. We waited another 20-30 minutes just to get our drinks, and the food took an extremely long time as well. We never received water or refills and had to repeatedly wait for someone to check on us. The server told us everything was fresh(not frozen) which surprised me because of the fact that the menu is insanely large. I got the Thai lettuce wraps and they were incredible. We don't usually like to leave negative reviews, but after several visits we feel it's important to share our experience. The restaurant has a pleasant ambiance and a comfortable setting, making it a nice place to dine and relax. Each time we came, even with a reservation, we still had to wait a long time. On one occasion, we waited about 50 minutes despite having a reservation. Another time, we waited around 20 minutes, and when we asked how much longer it would be, we were told it could be another hour and a half, or we could leave because there was a plumbing issue. What was disappointing was that this information was not shared earlier. If the issue was already known, clearer communication upfront would have been more respectful of customers' time. The food was good, and some dishes were just okay, but the overall service experience did not quite match the quality of the food. Probably the best Cheesecake Factory I've ever been to! Blake, the waiter, was extremely patient and hospitable and was gracious enough to give opinions on different dishes and deserts. The dinning area was clean and extremely spacious compared to other locations. I have to say that portion sizes are quite large as well so be prepared to have to share if you are someone whose eyes are bigger than their stomach's. The Cheesecake Factory is wonderfully surprising during happy hour. Happy hour is relegated to the bar area between 4:00-6:00 Monday-Friday. They offer mostly appetizers with some small plates and snacks. Most are $5 bucks cheaper and house drinks are practically free. There are plenty of TVs, making it the perfect spot to catch the game. If you're going to order one thing, I suggest ordering the fried calamari ($9.95). It's not only tasty (light batter!), but it's also substantial in size. It's a good snack if you find yourself drinking. I also love the Cheesecake Factory eggrolls in any form - avocado, Tex-mex, cheeseburger. The exterior is crispy and inside is a palette fuck. I loved the ice cream and fudge chocolate with whip whipped cream after I blew the candle out took it out. I took the cheesecake home with me, but outside of the bite that I took at the restaurant I've not eaten it. Love the designs on the walls, the huge columns, cleanliness of the place. We had one of the near private booths in the middle of the dining area. All good to start. The server was nice but busy. Asked us several times to order. I had the Renee's lunch special. Have had it before and really loved it. Today the soup was luke warm and I added salt because it had little flavor. Went to this location for date night. The hostess was super friendly and got us seated right away since we made an online reservation. I definitely recommend this step since they can get very busy. Our waitress was very friendly and professional, though 4 stars for service since we did have to wait a while for refills and our check even though it was not as busy when we were there. We waited a while to get our bread. Overall the food was very good, my boyfriend got the chicken Madeira and steak Diane combo and I got the four cheese pasta with chicken. I do regret getting chicken since it's much more expensive and mine was rubbery and bland. The rest of the pasta was good but the chicken on it was not so I just kept moving chicken pieces to the side. Wish I had just kept it without it and not paid extra. The worst Cheesecake Factory I've ever been too. First impression upon walking in is the place smelled like a dirty diaper. The restaurant looked dirty and run down. They were out of Coke products and the Rootbeer was flat. We got the eggroll sampler and it was ok but both our pasta dishes were absolutely awful and we were really disappointed. I frequently eat at The Cheesecake Factory all over the country and this was by far the worst experience i've ever had with the company. So sad. read more
