Absolutely loved this place while visiting Myrtle Beach. We sat outside with our dog in the evening and it wasn't that busy. We enjoyed the unique and creative atmosphere this restaurant had to offer. I had the Molecular Mule and my husband had Noble Honey and the liquifying olive martini drink. The food was good but nothing extraordinary. I would definitely come back to this place for the beverages and some small plates but not for the main dishes. Service was great. read more

I was really excited to try this place. Looks great, great reviews. We arrived tonight and maybe 5 out of 15 tables were occupied. The host would not seat us. We had 5 and he said numerous times that he could not move any table as it would disrupt the flow of the restaurant. There were plenty of options. None would have gotten in anyone's way. As a matter of fact, there was a table up front that no one except the server would have come near to us. No dice. I interpret this as "we don't want your business". We were 5 normal, decent, credit card totin" individuals ready to run up a tab. There were 2 kids in the party. Not toddlers. 6th and 3rd graders. Well behaved adorable kiddos. I'm not very old but I had the best cocktail I've ever had here. The food was also really good. The theme is really awesome and they've got it all sewed seamlessly together. All that being said, it was $10 for a cocktail that might have been 8oz, so it was way over priced. The food was also very expensive. Let me start off by saying, the food was phenomenal! But, our service was so bad. Our server put boiling hot food in front of a 2 year old. He never brought us straws or silverware. It took 1.5 hours to get out food, and the place was not busy! The steak came out raw, the server forgot to request a change in side dishes.... I could go on and on about how bad this server was. My wife, my 15 year old and I saw this place from near the boardwalk and thought it looked really cool. A quick Yelp lookup and we decided we had to try it. The place is extremely cool and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. Our drinks were awesome! The wife had a Periodically Peach Martini. The martini glass was sitting in a glass with dry ice which was pouring fog all over the table. Great presentation! My Flux Capacitor came in a beaker and tasted great. As great as the drinks were, the food was even better. We started with scallops and Bondfire shrimp, both were excellent. For mains I had the Waygu sirloin, this Misses had Shepherds Pie and our son had Shrimp Scampi. All entrees were extremely tasty but the extra mile was what put them over the top. The steak came with a deep fried Bearnaise that was incredible. The pastry bowl and potato foam made the Shepherds Pie the best my wife had ever had. Our son destroyed the Scampi and even commented on liking the lemon foam. For those with kids, you know how hard it can be to get them to try things like lemon foam. Our waiter, Lucky, was awesome and helped guide us every step of the way. We also greatly enjoyed watching other people's reactions to their drinks. Service was a little slow for the late hour and few customers, but we were both well pleased with our meals. We're from Ohio & were referred here by word of mouth from home; "Make sure you visit The Chemist, it's a super cool place." We went in around 4 yesterday, the place was empty. We had heard about smoked drinks and such.. the bartender handed us a menu and said to let her know when we were ready. We were literally the only people at the bar ... a little effort would've been nice. There was no "have you been here before?" "Let me tell you about our drinks." No small talk. She made me a grapefruit drink when I ordered the strawberry banana one (oh well, mistakes happen). If it wasn't for the guy cutting lemons that started making small talk with us, the whole place would've left a bad taste in my mouth. Not welcoming, uninformative.. drinks were good. Wish I would've known what all the fuss is about with this place, but I won't be hyping it up to anyone. read more

Where do I even start.....I was looking to go somewhere that wasn't your traditional, "bucket of beer" type beach bar. I wanted something original and yummy. This place hit the spot! From the moment I walked in the door is knew it was going to be a great experience. I had a few hours to kill so I scooted myself right up to the bar and settled in to enjoy the experience. The bartender, Lucky, was amazing! Very friendly and fun! He was willing to go above and beyond for the customer. I asked for a spicy bloody Mary, not only was it fantastic but he topped it off with a pickled pepper right off his farm. Almost everything that they could make fresh in the restaurant, they did! It was early afternoon and the brunch menu was amazing! I ended up having the Monte Cristo with home fries and I savored every bite! My stop at this place was the icing on the cake to my Myrtle Beach trip and I couldn't be happier with the whole experience. As a bartender, Lucky satisfied every customer that walked through the door from the bud light drinker, to the customers who didn't know what they wanted, and even the group of women who wanted martinis that overflowed with smoke. All this and I still had a beach view for the entire experience!! This is a must go if you are in Myrtle Beach as far as I'm concerned! read more

The food was ok but the atmosphere and drinks were so so. The drinks were super sugary. I ordered the flux something which was fine. My husband ordered the martini which was fun and had the dry ice which was gimmicky but fun. I ordered the moscow mule, but it had syrup in it and tasted gross. I asked for it without the syrup and the server came back with exactly the same drink and then tried to convince me that it didn't have syrup in it. It was super sweet and for sure had syrup in it. Honestly it really was irritating that I had to be in the position to argue with my server about it and then he didn't care to ask me about it for the rest of my meal when I had it pushed to the side and never had a sip of it. I guarantee you I would have had 1-2 more drinks if he had just paid attention to my concern. Now I'm just irritated I had to pay $10 to not enjoy a cocktail at dinner. read more

Oh my gosh. This place is the greatest. Awesome craft cocktails. We tried the Mad Scientist, the Flux Capacitor and they were both incredibly fresh and deelish. We started with Tempura Vegetables with a sweet Thai Chili dipping sauce. Awesome. Then I had the Char Siu which is slow roasted pork belly in a Cantonese sauce and that pork belly literally melts in your mouth. My friend had the Shepard's Pie with lamb and beef and incredible potato es puma on top. Amazing. We ended our meal with Mango Panacotta. Our server was Leah and she was incredibly knowledgeable about the drinks and the food and was very friendly and made us feel welcome. This is perhaps the best dining experience I have had on a beach vacation. If you are in Myrtle Beach you must try it! read more

As a Chem major I enjoyed the theme, and the food did not disappoint. The lamb shepherds pie was divine- I loved the lighter take with the potato foam. They use sous vide to its best advantage. Very gimmicky and touristy. The concept is really clever. The drink menu is well thought out. But overall it's nothing special. I went with my parents and husband on a Saturday around 2pm. There were only 2 servers and they looked really overwhelmed. One quickly told us to sit anywhere we liked and walked away, the other came said we'd have to wait over an hour for any food. This is a great place to stop but if I did it again I would either skip the food or go with something different. Some of the highlights of our experience were the drinks, atmosphere and service. Our server was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was fun (good music), cool features (glassware, menus and interior), and the location was nice. The drinks were delicious! The molecular mule and thyme machine were my favorites. My pregnant girlfriend had the house made ginger soda and she loved it! Onto the food. My girlfriend ordered the shepards pie and I had the rib steak with asparagus. All of the flavors and presentation were great! The cut of meat is where things went south. The beef in both of our dishes was tough, fatty, and overcooked. Unfortunately this took so much away from the whole of both dishes. I felt like I was at deer camp gnawing on venison. I know we didn't order the waygu so I wasn't expecting a magnificent cut but for 20$ a plate we were let down. Also, I would recommend seasoning the sweet potato tots as they were identical to the tots we had at wahlburgers the night before. They were tasty but knowing they were probably frozen generic tater tots and not house made hindered our experience. All in all this was a fun place to spend our evening! This place is amazing! If you are in myrtle beach and consider yourself a foodie, the chemist is a must, especially if you enjoy science!! Being an old chemistry teacher I especially loved this location. The entire theme of the restaurant is thought through perfectly. The waitresses wear labcoats, the tables have periodic table elements on them, the light fixtures look like orbital diagrams, and so many other details. When we arrived we were served water in beakers and most of the drinks come in flasks. My husband had every whiskey drink on the menu and loved them all, especially the bourbon flask. I had the peach martini which was served on dry ice (fantastic) and the molecular mule, which they make their own ginger beer for and it is to die for. We had the lobster bisque which is served in a large beaker along with a lobster containing a pipette full of bisque. We then got the scallops which had lemon citrus foam on top and were placed on a delectable seaweed salad, which I'm not even a seaweed fan so I was surprised by how delicious it was. And last we got the smoked pimento cheese dip which was very smokey in a good way. Everything was an A plus. No joke this is my favorite restaurant ever!
