I love Chicago Green Box and can't imagine a move in Chicago without them. In addition to the whole recycled aspect, I love that you basically have a 2-week window to pack and unpack. It forces you to be time efficient and put stuff away immediately after moving -- none of this stacking boxes in a spare room for 2 years stuff. Plus, because the boxes are hard plastic, you don't need to worry about your fragile items getting crushed when they end up on the bottom of the box stack. I was also impressed with the staff who did the drop-off/pick-up. They were good about communicating a 2-hour window and sticking to it. This was the smartest idea we had for our move. We had a month to move and didn't want to spend too much money so we rented the 20 boxes package plus 2 dollies and half a pack of wrapping paper and in 2 weeks we were able to move everything that needed to be boxed. Great idea of reusable moving boxes to make moving much easier. Similar pricing to their competitors. They smell a bit probably from the cleaning solution. They brought the boxes all the way up the stairs and later collected them as well. Only taking off a star because the dolly wheels were dirty so would recommend checking the wheels before rolling it over your floors. read more

This service was great and so easy. Delivering the boxes only took a minute of my time, they were very efficient. The boxes stored way more then I thought they would. Also they were easily stackable so I could. Keep everything orderly while I was packing. And bonus for having handles! Chicago Greenbox was incredibly easy, prompt, and professional. I would recommend them to anybody moving! The plastic boxes make SO much more sense than going to Home Depot to buy boxes, tape them together, then worry that they'll be dinged or squished or break in the move. Moving from a ground floor condo to a 4th floor had me worried about using cardboard boxes for moving all my stuff. I used these boxes along with some cardboard boxes I received from friends. These green boxes made packing MUCH easier. The big advantage is the sturdy size and ability to stack. Once you start pulling your possessions out of their stored locations for packing, they need to go somewhere once they're in boxes and cardboard boxes can only be stacked a couple high. The green boxes stacked easily and let me make stacks that were out of my way while packing. They also were faster for the movers to haul away, making the move faster. I hate hunting down cardboard boxes, and it seems wasteful to just throw them away after using them. Enter Chicago Greenbox. The boxes (more like tubs) were clean, delivered and picked up on time, sturdy, spacious, and easy to maneuver. After moving several times in the past ten years, I'd have to say that this contributed to probably the easiest move ever. I am definitely going to use them again in the future. Loved our experience with The Chicago Green Box! I had some leftover boxes from a recent move, so we did half and half -- some green boxes, some reused traditional moving boxes. I submitted the request late and they were still able to fulfill the order for just two days later. The staff arrived at the very beginning of the drop-off and pick-up windows and were very friendly and efficient. The boxes fit most anything and are very easy to stack and store while you pack up. The moving companies really seemed to appreciate them, too -- much easier to move in stacks than regular boxes. This company is as professional and caring as it gets when it comes to moving. Not only do they allow you to keep the boxes for two whole weeks, they drop off and pick up from wherever you'd like them to! This saved me so much time, which is hard to come by during a move. I have rented these boxes for two separate moves, and will definitely rent again in the future. The boxes are clean, large, and so easy to stack and move. Originally I was a bit skeptical about Chicago Green Box due to the upfront cost, but honestly I don't have enough positive things to say about how awesome this service was. I ordered 20 boxes for my small 1 bed, but probably could have used closer to 30 in the end. The boxes were easy to pack, and felt more secure than storing fragile items in cardboard boxes like I normally would have. The boxes were dropped off at the beginning of my 9-11am window, and picked up early as well- which I really appreciated. They even carried them up my 3rd floor walk-up without any complaints. I am so glad I decided to rent green boxes! Ordering them was a breeze and getting them delivered was even easier. My favorite part about these - besides saving money and using cardboard boxes that would just end up in the trash - was that they were super sturdy! One of my boxes that was filled with breakables was accidentally dropped by a mover, and I thought my dishes were toast. Thankfully, not the case! You can fit more into these boxes that you think you can, but definitely order more than they recommend; the 30 boxes were just a bit shy for my needs. Overall I was happy with renting crates from Chicago Greenbox. I ordered 45 crates and 2 dollys using their website and setting delivery and pick up times. Unfortunately these are just requested times; someone calls you back and sets up actual times for you based on what is available. It seems like this could be automatic via their website, even if orders are coming from multiple places. I said as much to the woman I spoke to on the phone when I didn't get the days and times I had originally requested. They followed up via phone call to remind me of both my delivery and pick up. The person who came to drop off and pick up was courteous, professional, and quick. The crates themselves were as I expected - solid, relatively lightweight, and clean. The suggested number of crates for my 2 BR was spot on (45!). Not having to worry about acquiring cardboard boxes or dispose of them after, not to mention the green benefits, make using crates for any future moves a must. These guys went above and beyond during our move. They were the one of the cheaper quotes but I would have paid more if I had known how good of a job they were going to do. For instance, they changed the roof of our elevator after I moved into my unit and the guys carried my couch down 17 flights of stairs for no additional charge. I'd give 6 stars if I could! Second move with green boxes, and I would never move again without them. Great for environment. Ease of moving. Courteous, on time pick up and delivery. (Remember to tip them; whatever they get paid, it isn't that much). All you need for moving is Green Boxes and tons of bubble wrap. Remember to cushion with towels, and have lots of Scotch brand tape to use on bubble wrap. I used 20 for first move from 1/1 to 2/2. I used 30 for second move from 2/2 to 1/1. We just used these for our move from Chicago to Evanston and it was awesome. I highly recommend getting the roll-tray for the bottom of the stack. I'm a smaller lady and I was able to pack all 45 boxes for our 2 bedroom apartment without hurting my back. The guy showed up to drop them off right on time and came to pick them up early on the day he was supposed to take them back. I literally have no complaints. Tip: Use frog tape or painters tape to mark your boxes so you know which room they go to. Highly recommended!! So nice not to have to worry about tape and cardboard boxes. I think it was even easier for the movers to get all the boxes from the truck to the apartment. read more

Love the Chicago Green Box!!! So easy and fast to pack in and about the same cost as cardboard boxes. But so much easier - no taping, no building boxes. Just take one from the stack, fill it up and close the top. No joke, it saved me SO MUCH TIME! Their drop off and pick up people were on time, helpful and friendly.
