The bearded person with the long hair wearing a cap working midday last week was excellent! There were so many people yet they were kind, efficient, and helpful. This was my first time here and there was so much to take in. The indoor and outdoor ambience were starkly different, but both were beautiful. Inside was bustling with maybe Mardi Gras tourist spillover and outside was peaceful with comfortable chairs and a beautiful shaded porch to enjoy your treats from. Inside also had a spectacular condiments bar with lemon water and a very impressive array of condiments. I enjoyed that the water came out of a cute little filtered faucet. My blueberry loaf was very moist and also crumbly. I don't think I'd get it again, but I like a dry crumbly cake, so that's on me. The portion was good. My black coffee was yummy. They have the fanciest to go coffee cups I've ever seen! I also ordered one of the turnovers (with very low expectations, but I was very hungry)... and it was delicious! Grab a coffee and then go upstairs to peruse the books and check out the architecture of the building. It's worth a stroll. read more

Located inside The Rink, another cafe for the uptown area. The coffee was great, but the turkey pastry I got was very bland. The barista was friendly, but some of the other young workers were extremely loud. I was in a far corner, and one was yelling about her day to day to the coworkers as they took up a table doing a task. I heard every word and so did everyone else at the cafe at the time. I typically wouldn't say anything but it was very disruptive and went on for a while. read more

A little cafe that's part of the Rink shopping center. To be honest, we only went here to take shelter from the sweltering heat while walking the Garden District. We got a blueberry hibiscus tea and a blueberry pineapple green tea. I didn't love the green tea, it had a slightly unpleasant aftertaste. But the blueberry hibiscus was good. I can't speak on the food, baked goods, or lattes, but for a simple unsweetened tea, I think it was rather pleasant. Either way, I'd recommend it as a quick break away from the sun and heat to recharge! read more

We had a scheduled Garden District architecture tour that started at the Rink on Prytania and we're looking for a place for breakfast beforehand when we stumbled on The Chicory House. This cute cafe is part of the Rink and was a great find. You order counter side but the bring you beverages and food to the table. Ordering counter side means you get to see their pastry case when ordering. We'd decided on a slice of their apple spice cake before anything else. It was so delicious with small bits of apple and even spice throughout. One of us ordered the biscuit sausage breakfast sandwich and the other a custom grits bowl with bacon crumbles and cheddar cheese along with a hot chocolate. The food well well priced and delicious. The biscuit sandwich was palm sized (larger than expected), flaky and had well seasoned sausage patty and eggs. The grits were well cooked & seasoned and a bit elevated with the bacon and cheese. This was a cute breakfast spot with indoor and porch seating. It was perfect for a quick but filling breakfast. read more

Our group was about to do the Garden district walking tour but wanted to get some caffeine. Most of my coworkers got lattes. I opted for the tea of the day, iced hibiscus with another flavor in it that I can't recall. Refreshing! Lots of green decor in here! It shares the same building as a few other businesses. Favorite cafe that we stopped into during our stay in NOLA! My iced carmel oat milk latte was INCREDIBLE. Had to come back for another one the next day. Food: Chicken salad sandwich- definitely recommend, very tasty! Ham sandwich- very tasty was well, was a 2nd favorite Turkey sandwich - meh, needed a sauce or something to add more flavor and it was a bit dry. This place is relatively new ( less than two years old ) and they're trying a lot of new things, but it seems they have their menu set for scones and sandwiches and salads as well as coffees and teas. Simply put, I don't enjoy the food. I find it overpriced and the service is not always the greatest. I feel like the food is lacking a certain amount of flavor and it's too generic for New Orleans. I think the big thing they get right is the table which they set up outdoors for Mardi Gras; the rest of the time it's OK if I skip it, I will give them credit for providing an average reasonable ambience for working in terms of the inside as a coffee shop. Love Chicory House. It's quite the neighborhood lunch spot. No doubt, it's a bit of a "See and be seen" kind of place because I rarely come here and not visit with friends. The lunches are actually excellent. Really good homemade bread and excellent soups. I like the combo. Also, the pastry chef is one talented woman. Do not leave without the brown butter frosted cookie. It's no frills and just a lunch place. I reserve five starts for the fine restaurants of New Orleans but since I eat here at least once a week, I can assure that the quality is excellent. read more

Great spot with beautiful outdoor seating in the garden district. Quiet and a great space to get some work done for work from home people. I had a dirty chai with oat milk and it was delicious, perfect balance of chai to espresso. The only downside is that the internet was not really working. Highly recommend otherwise and it may just have been the day too. Look forward to trying their lunch options as breakfast has no vegan option available but the veggie sandwich on the lunch menu looks great. They also have a kids menu if you're looking to bring the little ones. read more

You would never know its November here in NOLA! I'm sure the locals are used to it but sweating in the blazing sun at this time of year is a tough adjustment. This beautiful coffee shop in the middle of the Garden District is a perfect stop to chill and refresh. My iced coffee was served in a delightful cup and was just right to cool off! read more

Came here because it was the first coffee place I saw in the Garden District in the Rink. Not really a wide range of coffee options here. I usually am looking for house made syrups for a flavored latte but they only have the Torani syrups. When I came in the afternoon, the pastry selection was also limited. This is a coffee shop located in the lower garden district. I have just moved to uptown, so I wanted to find a coffee shop. The chicory house will be one of my go to coffee shops. There is outside seating as well as inside. As soon as you walk in all the delicious looking pastries are on display, and the refrigerator to the right has a variety of alcohol beverages. I order the chi latte (almond milk) and banana bread. The banana bread was warm, soft, and had icing poured over it. Cute space smack dab in the tourist part of the Garden District. Nice place to start or end your tour around. Came here and got a grilled cheese with chips that was pretty good I would say. The surprise for me was the iced coffee with the option of lavender syrup! Omg that was such a lovely surprise. Prices our on the prices side I'd say but it worth almost everything we got was handmade. Would recommend to anyone visiting the district. read more

Great cafe to stop in for a quick cup of coffee/snack, grab lunch at, or get some work done with their wifi and plenty of outlets for charging computers. It's connected to the inside of the rink, for an open atmosphere with more casual seating up in the atrium as well as outside on the porch. Coffee is great and very reasonably priced- 16oz iced coffee is $3. I'm pretty sure that their cold drink cups are re-usable, and if not they've held up through a few weeks of me making preworkout in and washing them. Food menu has a solid range from pastries to sandwiches and salads. Great customer service, everyone is helpful with recommendations, service is fast, and the whole place is immaculate (if there are any crumbs left on a table after a guest leaves, they're immediately cleaned up). read more

We were looking for a good option near the Garden District walking tour (and that cemetery there). Stopped here for a really great latte, and an amazing piece of bourbon pecan pie. The place is clean and nicely designed in the bottom of a larger building. Definitely one of the better options in the area for a quick coffee, water, or snack and restrooms (of course) if you need it before your tour! read more

Bagel was delicious! Everyone who got breakfast sandwiches liked their ok. Coffee was very good! The wait was lonnngggggg for the breakfast sandwiches. It truly feels like you are stepping back into a time gone past when you find your way into this establishment. Cafe Du Monde is broken up into two distinct environments. One is its interior seating area. It's fine in there if you want to get out of the elements. My choice is the exterior seating area, however. There is just something great about having coffee and a beignet while sitting outside and embracing the weather that New Orleans in known for. It's a fully covered space, so you don't have to worry about getting wet, if it is raining, or anything like that. It is just so much fun to sit there and embrace the day. The way this place works is that if you see a table, you just go and sit at that table. No waiting to be seated required. Once there, one of the staff will quickly come to take your order. They have a limited menu, so ordering is easy. Cash only please! Some of the staff are truly unique individuals. The last time I was there, I had an elder lady, of Chinese descent, helping me. She could barely communicate in English. Luckily, my Mandarin was good enough for us to place or order. Though Mandarin was not her native dialect, we did, none-the-less, communicate. That was an experience. How she helped out the other customers is anyone's guess. I'm just saying, some of the staff at Cafe Du Monde are truly unique individuals. Overall, if you in NOLA, you must go here. It's a fun experience.

Streetcar Café is a perfect choice for what I was looking for: ample breakfast choices, a full bar, and excellent service by Andres. I ordered two poached eggs ($3.50), a single pancake ($4.50), and hash brown potatoes ($4). Totally reasonable pricing, and excellent meals, topped with the Always Summer (Malibu rum, Triple sec, OJ, Pineapple juice, Grenadine, $13). The place filled up pretty quickly after I arrived at around 10 a.m. Andres did an outstanding job of keeping track of my order, and served up the menu items piping hot. Uh, their 'gumbo' is a thin broth with virtually no solid ingredients besides white rice. A very few minuscule shreds of chicken and maybe a 6-8 tiny cubes of some tasteless sausage for $17. It did come with a nice biscuit. Be aware of what's being served. Stick to the well-known real-deal restaurants. Not everything is what it claims to be. Nothing real about this ripoff. We'll never go back to this tourist trap.

Though pop-up showers were still lingering, my husband and I decided to take a gamble on courtyard dining--and I am so glad we did! Sheltered under the green umbrellas surrounded by historic brick walls, lush greenery, and rain-kissed citrus trees, the atmosphere was incredibly romantic and peaceful. The courtyard's intimate layout even brought a bit of extra magic to our evening. We sat near another wonderful couple (and their adorable daughter) and became fast friends, sharing laughs and conversation throughout the night. What truly anchored the experience, though, was the incredible service. The staff was remarkably personable, helpful, and welcoming. The dinner itself was excellent from start to finish, showcasing immense culinary skill across every dish. We started with the delicious brussels sprouts and a uniquely seasoned spring/summer gumbo that was unlike any version we've had before (oh, what I would give for the recipe). As for the entrées, the shrimp and grits were phenomenal, and the blackened catfish sandwich with a fresh salad was executed flawlessly...and the bread pudding was fantastic, too! It is rare to find an experience where top-tier hospitality, a breathtaking environment, and great food come together so (seemingly) effortlessly. Café Amélie is an absolute must-visit! There is just something great about having coffee and a beignet while sitting outside and embracing the weather that New Orleans in known for. It's a fully covered space, so you don't have to worry about getting wet, if it is raining, or anything like that. It is just so much fun to sit there and embrace the day. The way this place works is that if you see a table, you just go and sit at that table. No waiting to be seated required. Once there, one of the staff will quickly come to take your order. They have a limited menu, so ordering is easy. Cash only please! Some of the staff are truly unique individuals. The last time I was there, I had an elder lady, of Chinese descent, helping me. She could barely communicate in English. Luckily, my Mandarin was good enough for us to place or order. Though Mandarin was not her native dialect, we did, none-the-less, communicate. That was an experience. How she helped out the other customers is anyone's guess. I'm just saying, some of the staff at Cafe Du Monde are truly unique individuals.
