I stopped in @ Chalet Nursery for a brief look as spring is here. What I found is a very nice nursery w/an assortment of items needed to do spring planting, landscaping materials & an assortment of seeds, plants, planters, gardening tools & fertilizers.... Basically almost anything you need to start or enhance a garden. They also have an area on the north end where they have a glass enclosed area. Unfortunately I really didn't have a lot of time to shop as I was on my way to pick up my older sister but would like to come back sometime when I have a little more time to peruse the items in the store

Also, they do incredible sales after Christmas, so my neighbors and I were all able to pick up a few goodies at a massive discount (one commented that she's all set on gifts for next Christmas lol). A few years ago I got a Christmas cactus for an insanely low price at their sale on a discount shelf and it is still alive and kicking! I'm excited for them to get set up for spring and to attend some of their free classes and lectures for the new year. There's something for everyone here.

This review is based on…read moremy aggregate experiences in the store and with the employees. -Although the merchandise is varied and cute, it's overpriced. I don't want to spend $35+ on a water bottle or keychain with a college logo on it, $40 for a vinyl toiletry bag, or $25 for a dishtowel -I don't think I've ever been greeted when I walk into Ellen's, despite the fact that there are almost always four women standing right behind the counter -Even upon purchasing items at Ellen's the salespeople are aloof and unfriendly -I don't like their return/exchange policy for gifts. They base it on the date the gift was purchased (one month from that date), which has nothing to do when you receive the gift. I asked for a credit on a gift that was given to me recently but they turned me away because of the date of purchase, which was about two months ago. When the saleswoman asked Ellen about it Ellen didn't even turn around to acknowledge my presence, she just shook her head. I found it to be extraordinarly rude. There are plenty of other shops with great customer service, more reasonable prices, and fairer return/exchange policies.

This store carries so many unique items that you wouldn't find at traditional places. For example, the cat stress toys! (See pic), stickers, Korean and Japanese galore. The owner is also super friendly and helpful. She helped us locate products that we might like. Definitely a fan and I will be back!!

The original store on the east side of the mall was downright palatial and included a Starbucks café. The second location facing Old Orchard Rd. was downsized and plainer, but still open and airy. The newest iteration is even smaller. I imagine most customers will focus on the well-curated selection of books and other merchandise, and also the bright lighting. What I observed was a claustrophobic warren of small rooms with low ceilings, minimal seating (I counted 6 chairs and 0 tables), and sadly, no café.

I've spent hundreds of dollars on Lilly Pulitzer here since it's local (and they have unique pieces that may have been sold out or hard to find). One blonde associate is very rude and honestly kind of snobby. I came in dressed in Lilly and with money in hand to spend on this great place I've frequented before. I asked a question and her tone of voice and demeanor was dismissive and condescending. It's a shame because Kathy is wonderful and I've always loved being able to purchase items that may have sold out on the website.

Typically I don't do reviews but I really felt compelled to today. My sister, our mom and I decided…read moreto go on a day of antiquing and our first stop was here. I will say they do have an impressive amount of jewelry and their art selection was beautiful. However, our experiences were completely soured by the owner. We were by the corner near the register looking at their COSTUME jewelry. The cabinet did not happen to be locked and there was no sign on the door explicitly asking customers not to go in. A guy who I now realize was her husband kept poking his head in between our shoulders. At that point I thought it was just a guy with no concept of personal space. I now understand he was checking to see what we were doing as if we could steal with all the cameras around. He did not say anything to us immediately and I think at that point he told his wife to say something so she proceeds to very loudly scold us in front of her staff and the other customer in the store. She did apologize to my sister, however, there was no reason to behave the way she did especially when you depend on other people to make a living. I hope they can at least put signs to ensure there are no miscommunications in the future.
