The 3 is really a 3.5 shouldn't seen as a negative on the food as I was testing place out at lunch. I got basic Mixed vegetables plate with steamed rice, they offered vegan gravy I passed. The food was tasty although I have never eaten a mixed veggie plate with celery and the pieces were long when I had a fork full all I could taste was the celery. The sauce was good , however tasted a little salty but I don't salt anything when I cook or add any when I eat out it could be normal and I'm just not used to it. Hostess was great checked on me and brought me extra rice when I requested. My main reason for only 3.5 stars is if your going to allow customers to refill their own drinks(i.e. soda machine) the tea/water dispensers should be accessible too we shouldn't have to ask for refills or for sugar/substitutes. read more

This is your typical American neighborhood Chinese food eatery with nice, cordial service, and some unusual entries that may or may not be worth the trip depending on your tastes. Since I tend to swing closer to authentic eats, The Chinese Neighbor is just average to below average. General Tso was probably the worst pick from my takeout order; dense overcooked white meat, soft mushy batter, and an unremarkable tangy sauce. The Mongolian beef fared better, chewy beef hinting of a little bit of sweetness, and avoiding the gloppy mess that many neighborhood spots tends to bury in onions and peppers. The "hot" fried rice barely registered as spicy although the dried chiles would make one believe it's hot--but no. Fried wontons were just "okay", certainly no crab in these like some other eateries offer. As for the weird menu entries, I'd eat the cheeseburger eggroll again, just because it was unexpectedly tasty. And the umami fries were fried perfectly; however, I didn't really dig the dipping sauce because it lacked anything Asian in flavor. read more

Living in Prosper, we get super excited any time something new comes to town. I am so glad this restaurant wanted to be our neighbor. Finally, I don't have to drive across town for decent Chinese. My favorite thing about this place is their flair for fusion. Like Brisket Fried Rice with Mac n cheese sauce and pickled red onions, or the dragon dumpling burger. WHAAAA??? Head explosion, I know. Dumpling meat in a perfectly toasted English muffin, dripping with Chinese 1000 Island, and made for dipping in tangy dumpling sauce. 3rd visit today was disappointing. Can't imagine finding counter help at lunchtime is easy, but the person working today had zero energy or restaurant IQ. The food all came out at once. By the time soup is finished, the rest is room temp at best. Presentation lacking on the cheeseburger egg rolls. Crispy chicken wings were fresh, but would expect a little more on presentation too. Just had another serving of the garbage food that was bought for my dinner last night. I ordered a hot spicy Calabrian Chile fried rice. Not a bit of Calabrian Chile in the entire dish. Instead of fried rice, tasted like old leftover mush o seasoning or listed ingredients. The other dish ordered was sichuan wok stir fry! Worst food ever. Great food, but I will be thinking twice before I order the Mongolian beef again, the amount of onions in comparison to the meat is a total insult to the amount of money payed for the meal, and when I called to make the observation the employee said I had to pay extra for more meat, I think I have never wrote a bad review ever, I am always pro to stay quiet if I don't have anything good to say, but it was very upsetting. Excellent Chinese restaurant. Their portions are very generous, price is about average and staff is courteous. Whenever we have guests from out of town visiting, we always order from here and it has never disappointed our guests. There are a few dishes, such as the orange chicken, that maybe leave something to be desired, but their lo mein always keeps me coming back for more. read more

When we went to make our order at the counter, we found that quite a few items had been blacked out of the menu, so we could not order items that were listed online. Our first visit was today and we have mixed reviews with hopes that they will smooth out their process as they settle in...We walked into the restaurant and was greeted with about an 85 degree restaurant.(Texas is hot anyway). So we decided to just order our food to go...Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Beef, Dumplings, chicken lettuce wraps & Wonton Soup...all the food is good and everything seemed fresh....You place your order at the register which is ok but honestly not suburban friendly! If we want fast food we have plenty of LESS expensive options!! Our order cost almost $50! The staff(1 teenage kid) who seemed ok and because he is a kid I will not be critical! I am an independent business owner and would not have a teenage boy representing the face of my company that isn't established! Side note...we arrived at 6:15 pm and there was a man and his 2 children waiting for their to go order...not another person entered the whole time we were waiting for our, "To Go" order! Restaurants DO NOT survive in our market like this...I hope this helps whoever owns this business adjust or not!! We will give it another try in the next few weeks!
