The counters were bare of cutlery, napkins and straws. We were given no salad dressing with our salad, there was barely any sauce on our pasta and the adult serving was just as small as a child's meal. We frequent Disney multiple times a year and we hate to complain, but this was just unacceptable. We tried to be very patient. There was no apology or any offer to rectify our bad experience when we spoke with the cast member at the pick up window. We did have breakfast there the next morning and it was perfectly fine. The staff was organized, friendly and the food was great. We did not mobile order at breakfast due to the situation at dinner.

We were sat at a corner table for 4 that was unfortunately way too close to the wall and tall pillar that it felt cramp especially when having to get up everytime because my son could only come out one way and then we keep bumping on to the table next door. Cleanliness is as what you would expect of Disney properties from the dining areas, food counters and restrooms. FOOD For a buffet, we were very shocked to discover that one of the dish we enjoyed the most were the tofu. The chicken nugget on the cornbread was so delicious with the Chicken slightly sweetened with honey. Selections were not overwhelming, but sufficient for hungry people of old ages. Desserts were just ok. CUSTOMER SERVICE I have to say that service was a little bit off that day compared to other character dining experience we've had. Server was OK. Goofy seemed perturbed that we had to call him back to take pictures. Buffet line Nate Carver was really nice. Mickey and Minnie were adorable and took time to adore my bestie's special ears. We had a 7:50 pm reservation which meant our table wouldn't be ready until almost 8:30. I had my 12 week old son with us, so this was a bummer. They said they would text us when the table was ready. After 30 minutes we decided to all back up to the restaurant to find that the hostess desk was packed up and that they had taken their last reservation for the night. Customer Service: Everything went smoothly from making the reservation to the reminder message prior to the event. They asked us if we had any allergies upon making the reservation and then checked back in again about this as the event got closer (you never know if an allergy will pop up). When we came to the Golden Oaks gate, they had our names on a list and it was very easy to get through and over to the restaurant. We were greeted by a very warm group of Disney employees who seemed to have choreographed our reception from the "Welcome" to the cocktails they put in our hands. Throughout the entire night the service was perfectly coordinated down to placing meals in front of us all at the same time. It was michelin-star style service for sure. There were Disney interns from Namibia and Tanzania who were there to educate and answer questions diners had about their countries- that was probably my favorite part as someone who really likes geography, history and culture. Venue: Picture Italian-style wine cellar. Very beautiful venue with inviting ambiance! Food and wine: The dishes served retold parts of the Lion King movie with some dishes representing characters (but nothing like "now, you are eating Pumba..." that would have just been awkward, lol) Every dish was explained by the chef who designed the meal. The food was very creative but the only bit of constructive feedback I have is that the ingredients could have been much more fresh. We didn't feel too hot after the meal and sometimes freshness of ingredients really helps with that after-effect you get from a big feast. Continuing throughout 2017, "Delicious Disney, A Chef Series" features storytelling with food. These dinners allow guests to experience exceptional cuisine in an atmosphere of pure Disney magic. Last week we experienced an incredible five-course wine dinner in celebration of Ratatouille's 10th anniversary. French-themed of course, the evening started with a French 75 and ended with a hand-painted, white chocolate Remy! One of Disney's best qualities - attention to detail - is on full display during these events. Don't miss your chance to dine inside Golden Oak and enjoy a memorable evening full of incredible cuisine and wine pairings. Here's a little taste of what we experienced during our dinner! We started off the evening with a beautiful French 75 and hors d'oeuvres before being seated in the main dining room. Accompanied by Canard-Duchêne Champagne, our first course was a delicate roasted mushroom with cheese and a rosemary espuma. These food-friendly bubbles were the perfect accessory to our Amuse-Bouche. Next up, potato-leek soup paired with Domaine Louis Moreau "Vaillons", Chablis 1er Cru. A lovely pairing and one of my favorite wines from the evening - I'll take a whole case please! We then moved to Hokkaido scallops with artichoke, baby leek and caviar. Clos Saint Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc was poured for yet another fabulous pairing. For the last course pre-dessert we had Colorado Lamb with (of course) Ratatouille. The true star of the dinner in multiple ways, this authentic accompaniment was stellar. As expected, the 2009 Château Lagrange, Saint-Julien was a treat to experience! In true Disney style we ended the meal with an impressive dessert adorned with a chocolate laced Eiffel Towel. And to really outdo themselves, a surprise dessert was brought out, which included a hand-painted white chocolate Remy which was presented in a dramatic fashion across the dining room. The Sauternes was then poured and the fun continued throughout the final course. If you haven't experienced the finer side of Disney dining yet, you're missing out on one of The City Beautiful's culinary gems!

The portion size is surprisingly generous for a theme park meal and easily keeps me full. The Cajun-spiced sweet potato fries are packed with flavor, but the real star is the olive relish that comes with the dish. It adds such a unique, tangy kick that takes everything to the next level. If you're looking for something a little different from the usual theme park fare, Golden Oak Outpost is definitely worth seeking out. There is a bit of seating and usually some live music to listen to while you eat. The World Showcase of Flavors truck (loosely) represents Epcot and has a couple of nice options on the menu: a chicken gyro, pierogies, or beef sliders. Wine and soft drinks are also available. I've been here about a dozen times (usually after a long run around DTD and Saratoga Springs, or as a quick bite after a movie at AMC) and I always get the sliders. Two juicy mini burgers with cheese and sweet pickles (served with some potato chips) for just under $10. The portion size is perfect for lunch or a light dinner -- you won't feel stuffed, but definitely satisfied. The price would be a bit high anywhere outside of Disney, but we're at the mercy of the mouse. Everything is made to order and the truck is pretty small, so it can get backed up quickly on a busy night. And they don't really have the ordering process down -- sometimes you order at the window, sometimes at an outside register. Weird queue formations pop up and there's often a bit of confusion over what should be a fairly simple process -- would love to see staff manage things a little better here. The biggest problem is consistency of the food. Most of the time my sliders have been tasty, but there have been mistakes: one order I received was nearly raw inside and another was burned to the point of being inedible. Sometimes everything is slapped together in a way that makes it weirdly messy to eat (these are burgers, I'm not going to break out a knife and fork!). There's only one chef at the grill, so it is hard to imagine how food that bad could be served. The staff has always been nice about correcting the errors, but waiting another 10 or so minutes for a new order can be frustrating. Since most people at DTD are tourists, it seems like they're not too concerned with repeat customers. TL;DR: A tasty meal when everything is done right; a disappointment when no one's paying attention to the details.
