I happened to stumble upon The Churchill while on a quick weekend trip to Phoenix. I was looking for a wine shop and had no idea it was located in such a unique place. The entire shopping area is made out of shipping containers. All of the shops are local so it seems like an authentic taste of Phoenix. I like how there is a communal dining/hang out area in the middle of all of the businesses. I went in March when it was a high of 80 out, but I'd kind of be afraid to see how hot it is in the brutal desert summers. I hear there are misters and the entire area is shaded, so perhaps it's not so bad. I enjoyed the fact that there was a little bit of everything. There were a couple bars: one more casual, the other a craft cocktail mixology bar. There was a sandwich place, pizza place, Mexican place, and a wine shop. There were also a couple boutique shops to pick up some adorable gifts. Overall, if you're in the area, I'd highly recommend checking out The Churchill. read more

I came here on a Sunday, according to google it's suppose to be closed. I've been in two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, I'm sorry that I am deaf from an ear, and yes I talk loud. But getting told that I am loud and having fun at a place where I'm suppose to have fun is irrational. Sorry but I guess I'll lower my voice where I can't hear it. Awesome venue with multiple little shops renting space to sell food, wine and items. There are two bars that offer a large selection of craft beers. Nice date idea or if you are with a big party. Lots of board games to choose from and also corn hole. Dog friendly. read more

This is what I'd call a hidden treasure. I've driven by this place numerous times, thinking it was a restaurant or something of the like, but I find it's like a mini mall of bars lol that's the best way that I can explain it. When you go in, it's a wide open space. It's inside, but it's not fully closed in, like the roof has openings...? The tables are in the middle and the bars are lined around it; it's like a square...? If that makes sense lol I thought it was so cool! I was upset I missed out for so long! They have a live dj, well at least at night they do, and it's just a chill atmosphere. It's a great place for a group of friends to go for some drinks. It's not too crowded or loud, so you can hear your friends talking lol and there's lots of places to sit! They also have those tall heater things, so that was great, cause I went when it was cold. So, if you're like me, not really into the whole club scene with the loud music, crazy expensive drinks, and no seating, this is a good place for you. read more

Wow!! What a find! Awesome mixed-use area! There is a huge inside area for seating and running around (mainly kids and dogs). There are cocktail bars on the periphery, an awesome Mexican place with a full menu of awesome tacos and ceviche etc, a pizza place, and a sandwich place. There is also a wine shop. We ordered 12$ cocktails and took them upstairs to the rooftop patio where the music wasn't so loud. People are here all the time on the weekends having a great time. The lights are bright. Trendy, millennial patrons line the walls and fill the plaza with chatter. When you first enter The Churchill, you'll be exhilarated with the idea you've stumbled upon the next 'big thing'. We were all informed it was. Roosevelt Row flirts with this sort of telos inasmuch as it was destined to be deemed cool, and no matter what happened, its reputation for trendiness gradually became irrevocable. We don't question the ubiquity of empty storefronts, juxtaposed with affluent tenants meant to keep the shops afloat. We captured their essence you see, the innovative spirit of various startups, and concentrated them into one shared space. When that proved unsustainable, we further distilled their dreams and planted them into structures traditionally seen as refuse. The eating experience is informal counter service, which is perfect because we don't like tradition, therefore servers. Restaurants boast amenities such as vegan, organic, and non-GMO options and the like that will assuage even the most ostentatious dietary restrictions. You could take anyone here, and they're guaranteed to like *something*. Despite my amusement with the novelty here, I just can't shake the feeling things have gone awry. Like an even more jaded Eleanor Shellstrop, I cannot accept that this is in fact the 'Good Place' we've been waiting for. What are they going to do, for instance, when every waking moment here is sweltering? Even its early September debut was pushing the limits of comfort. Despite ceiling fans, temperatures felt as though they hovered around 90 degrees, challenging patrons to venture just about anywhere else. Next year, we'll have to find out what happens when this sweat lodge remains inhospitable for months at a time. This isn't supposed to be a seasonal tourist stop, this is supposed to be a place people who live here can enjoy year round. If it's not, then it doesn't deserve us. My dismay does not end with the physical limitations surrounding this establishment, but at a social level much of The Churchill feels closer to a cafeteria than the lounge you may expect for your Saturday night drinks. With the exception of the dense crowd lingering in front of The Brill Line, you need to have a seat. There is negligible music, no dancing, and one game--a lone aisle for a game of cornhole that competes with the walkway. Congrats on having a capacity of 600 with enough diversions for 6. It is no wonder that in each of my visits, the structure was relatively empty by midnight, where there is much fun to be had dancing and gaming and mingling with strangers elsewhere. Ultimately, I am excited for spending a bit more time here throughout the winter months. I'm going to try each and every business it houses multiple times, wishing them luck in their ultimate endeavor of leaving and establishing their own place with actual character. If The Churchill is successful in the long-term, its staying power will be derived from its identity as a proving ground for broke and ambitious talent, or at least a solid rotation of restaurants and bars that come and go annually. The overtly evanescent nature of this place leaves me feeling as though it's the one collective in Phoenix that manages to be less than the sum of its parts. You may fall in love with individual bartenders and chefs here, but every time you take that bite or reach for that drink, you'll wish you were having it somewhere else. Somewhere with atmosphere. Somewhere with air conditioning. Somewhere with dancing. Somewhere that feels inclusive. Or at least somewhere that reflects the success of the valley's best neighborhood. read more

I always take my out of town visitors here. They have a few food options, a relaxed and fun environment, and plenty of seating. I love all of the vegan options they have here! I've tried the vegan pizza from Freak Bros which was great, as well as a vegan salad and sandwich from the sandwich place- blanking on the name but the Thai dye tofu sandwich is amazing! The cute shops are also a bonus! read more

I LOVE! What a great place for the area. All the things you want in one outdoor area. Yes, I said outdoors. Yes, it can be 100* most days here. But even so, with all the fans and air blowing it never felt ridiculously uncomfortable. In fact, we actually enjoyed the semi-outdoor weather. Inside The Churchill you'll find several eateries and bars surrounding a public-house style space with long tables, and relaxing little spots to chill with friends. A few TV's dot the space along with some games. Overall, I can't imagine people not enjoying The Churchill. It's a great meetup for your finicky of friends. Everyone will find something they love. Super fun and super casual! Made from shipping containers that give it a cool industrial look. Basically, it is a covered, outdoor food court meets bar, which in turn, meets an activity area. They have games (corn hole which is like horse shoes, and board games) in a spacious area, with comfortable bench and chair seating. I've only been there several times, but each time was fun. Freak Brother's Pizza: Has good pizza and reasonably priced. Not the best, but definitely good and will do it again Pobrecito Bar: Cocktails are good. The Brill Line: has some great craft beer. If you like IPA, they have them! I haven't ate at or purchased from these businesses, but here is a list of the rest: Cosas (Mexican gift shop), Gather (shop), Sauvage (wine), Foxy Fruit (smothies), Provecho (Mexican food), Breadwinner (sandwiches). Also they have a State 48 Brewery gift shop, which is kind of weird because they don't serve beer there, and there is an actual State 48 brewery at 2nd Ave and Van Buran. Hopefully, they will eventually serve beer. Overall, this is geared more towards a younger crowd, but I've seen families bring kids there, and older folks like me are likewise welcome. This is a cool spot in downtown Phoenix. It's an open concept so there are plenty of space for you and your friends. There's a couple of food places and two bars. There's also games and corn hole. Came here over the weekend with 2 friends for yoga and a post-workout smoothie. Our yoga instructor was amazing and we were all kept at least 6 feet apart and wearing masks! After our workout, we were rewarded 10% off at the food vendors located there. All the staff seemed friendly and there were also street vendors outside surrounding the establishment, making it a great area to walk around and feel a part of the community! Went on a saturday summer night. The shops weren't open but all of the food was except for the açaí shop. Tried the pizza, loved it. There was plenty of seating. The music was way too loud though, not a good place for conversation. I had to yell at the person in front of people to talk. The Churchhill is an excellent New space in the Roosevelt district of Phoenix. State 48 has a great location here where you can purchase authentic Arizona merchandise to represent this beautiful state. Food options are delicious... Pizza, smoothies, sandwiches and coffee are all available from a variety of diverse vendors. Great bar location with rooftop seating that is about to open (this place just opened the other day). Open air but there still a roof over top so you get to experience the beautiful Arizona winters. Lots of comfortable wood tables to sit out plus other seating options as well as bags to play and cool desert indoor landscaping. Please come by and support local businesses while relaxing and socializing with your friends. It's only been open for a couple days but I've already been there three times. read more

The Churchill feels like a really cool food court. Setting aside the issue of gentrification, I think the ideal outcome for this establishment would be acting as some sort of third space for residents of the area. What it offers at the moment is worth checking out, only so you can form your own opinion if you are so inclined. First, you will notice the aesthetic of the place. It seems very modular. The shipping containers announce that, surrounding a pavilion courtyard with a sufficient amount of seating. It all looks very contemporary and urban. On the perimeter are a number of food and alcohol vendors, along with a few odds and ends stores. I went to Pobracito with two friends, which is a bar on the east wall. They have very bitter grapefruit alcohol slushees that are rather expensive along with other drink options. But in reality the only thing that matters is the slush or machine because we are humans and we have a sense of adventure. Didn't get a chance to check out any of the other places because they were either closed or we were crowded out of them. Also they have a cornhole set up. So you can pretend you're at a picnic with friends or something. In all honestly this is just an initial reaction to The Churchill, which I see as a place with potential. I don't live downtown at the moment so I won't be here every day. Hopefully the space turns into something more meaningful as time passes. Maybe more shops will be added, anplaces will rotate out. What a blast! Met some folks there on a Friday night and the place was heaving. The women opted for cocktails. The men, us, opted for some IPA's. The people working at the beer counter at The Brill Line were uber helpful and knew their beer. I had a B-Seoul Korean hoagie from Breadwinner which was very tasty. Worst place ever. Terrible service and staff are rude and unprofessional. I reserved a few tables for my wedding rehearsal dinner a month ago and the guy in charge of our party (can't remember his name) was rude and accused one of our friends that she was drinking because WE TOLD them when we got there at 6pm that she didn't have her ID so she wasn't going to order drinks and will just eat and hangout with us. YET the guy and the "staff" accused our friend supposedly"saw" her drink somehow. Myself and my entire bridal party of 17 people left after an hour of being there. I'd say a 4.5 is more accurate. The only reason for this is that we walked around the space looking for a chicken sandwich option, and we couldn't find one. We ended up coming back later in the day and enjoyed a beer from The Brill Line. The space itself is amazing-- especially in the fall weather (though, I did notice they have a full AC system for the warmer days). Love the boxcar concept but I think I love the family atmosphere even more. On any given day or evening the place is lively! The Churchill did something right bc this place is nice for a date, groups and families with young kiddos. The kiddos run around and the parents drink! Win-win all around! Very cute place! There are several restaurants. Retail spaces and bars in there with a common seating area in the middle. It is outdoor seating only but it is shaded. The sun comes in pretty harshly in the afternoon since it is an east/west facing venue. The bathrooms are located around back on the north Side but they aren't well marked. The food choices are good and everyone in each shop seemed really friendly and excited for this new space. I will definitely be back to try all of the different options here. read more

We went there with a group of people, my friend, and I were just laughing in line and the person upfront told us that we were "too drunk to go in" work in reality we had one drink and drove 30 minutes to get to this bar and paid about $30 in Uber. My friend, the one that they denied the go in was not drunk just has a loud personality. I was so pissed and will never return. I feel so disrespected and will talk to someone about this more.
