Oh my goodness! I am so glad we came by this spot during our visit to the area. The restaurant is pretty spacious and clean. A lot of customers coming and going. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. This kind of service is ok with me, but the fact that the defaulted tip is always calculated for you without the full dine in experience always gets me. This leaves the obligation to the customer. Anyway, I digress. The food was delicious nonetheless! We ordered: Oxtail and chicken combo 5/5 It was really good, except the scoops of rice were tiny and not in proportion with the protein Jerk chicken sandwich 3/5 Good, but the meat goes better with rice Beef & chicken patties: We prefer the beef over the chicken & ordered extras to go to share with family. Beef 4/5, chicken 3/5 Cornbread 5/5 Perfect amount of sweetness and the butter makes it so much better. Overall, yes, I would go back for the food. It is far for us, but if I am in the area, I'll definitely return. I love Caribbean food and this one is on my top list. read more

Overall Experience 8.4/10 I came here on a Sunday in the late afternoon and it was not too busy. The service is nice, and the restaurant is tightly compacted together. I would assume this would be pretty lively when its more prime hours for eating but it was nice and quiet when I came. The Food: I got the oxtail with the goat curry, and it came with beans and rice and plantains. The oxtail was super tender, and falls off the bone with no effort, and the sauce it comes in is very flavorful and filled with spices. I really liked the food, and it had a subtle sweet with its seasonings. The goat curry is subtly spicy, with a hearty goat and meaty flavor. I enjoyed the goat curry over the oxtail as it was more flavorful and I liked the spice on curried goat. The rice and beans have great flavor and the plantains are tender and slightly sweet. Overall: I would come back again if I am craving Caribbean food. The food value is good and gives a great heaping serving. I don't know if I would come if I am not craving Caribbean food, but I would tell someone to give it a try if it is what they are eyeing. read more

I've heard about Back A Yard from everyone around me for awhile. Finally stopped in on a random weeknight for dinner. They have some spots in their parking lot, but I imagine can get crowded. It's a no frills place, which I like. I'm here for the food, not the ambiance. We ordered at the counter and they brought us our food. We got the jerk chicken and jerk salmon combo which came with plantains and rice. Everything was good, we split the plate between two people and were full. We did just come from having dessert though so maybe next time we'll get our own plates. Super flavorful, chicken was juicy. Plantains were definitely a highlight. read more

I came here to do take out on a friday evening, the food was ready pretty quickly. I got their oxtail plate and their escovitch fish plate. The escovitch fish plate is only a Friday special. Each day of the week they have a different special they serve. For the oxtail plate they always have it. The oxtail plate came with oxtail, beans + rice, and plantains. There is a good amount of oxtail for the price and portion size. The meat was very tender, fall of the bone and flavorful. I have had this from Back A Yard before and it never fails, the flavors are always consistent for the oxtail. The Escovitch Fish came with fried fish, fried bread, beans + rice and plantains. It also came with a pickled vegetable sauce. The sauce was not too sour or spicy. The fried fish was fried nicely, the fried bread was a nice addition had a slight sweetness. To cut the heaviness of the fried bread and fish, the pickled vegetable sauce is essential. The beans and rice are flavorful, and plantains were cooked nicely. Overall, this is a nice place to get some Caribbean food, and I'll come back to try their Chicken Curry specials that they serve on Tuesdays and get the oxtail plate again. read more

Came here for dinner with a few friends on Saturday. It's one of our friends' favorite. We ordered at the counter, and they brought out the food in to-go containers to our table, even though we're eating there. They're quite busy around 7pm, but there's no wait for a table. Food came out in a reasonable time. I really wanted to try the Saturday special, ackee & codfish, on their regular menu. However, the special that night was actually escoveitch fish, which was deep-fried. Since I was trying to eat healthier, I picked the jerk chicken & jerk salmon combo instead. It came with one good sized piece of salmon, two chicken drumsticks and one chicken thigh. The meat was very flavorful. The green sauce was quite spicy and salty. The combo also came with a small container of extra sauce, which I didn't need to use. The salmon and the chicken thigh were moist and cooked well, but the drumsticks were way too dry. The plantains were caramelized well and tasty; I enjoyed them a lot. The two scoops of rice and bean mixture paired really well with the meat. Overall, it was a delicious dinner with a generous portion of meat in a friendly environment with a causal vibe. read more

We were craving barbecue, but not just regular barbecue, we wanted something a little different. We ordered takeout and enjoyed the chicken, the pork ribs, and pulled pork. Everything including the sides was very good. I was surprised how well it traveled as takeout because it was still hot and looked good. They did get one aspect of our order wrong, but we didn't bother letting them know as this doesn't happen very often. But next time we go, will check our order before leaving. There's definitely a lot of food for meat eaters, but not so much for vegetarians. So if you don't eat meat, you will certainly enjoy some of the sides which together make a meal. read more

AMAZING FOOD FOR THE PRICE. A whole plate of jerk chicken which is more than enough food is around 13 bucks which is crazy. The jerk chicken was really tender, and besides the meat, I was a huge fan of the spicy rice that they gave. Stopped by Back A Yard Caribbean Grill tonight around 7pm and really enjoyed the food. I ordered the jerk salmon and jerk pork combo. The flavors were on point -- bold, well-seasoned, and very satisfying. The pork was slightly on the dry side, but still tasty and not bad at all. The salmon also had great jerk flavor, though it was a little dry as well. The sides were a highlight: the plantains were delicious, and the beans and rice had great flavor. The mango hot sauce was yummy and added a nice kick, and there was an amazing garlicky chimichurri-style sauce that came with the meal that really tied everything together. Don't expect good service or a good attitude, and the worse thing here is the pre-tipping thing before you get your food. They have a pretty big menu, and the cashier was impatient with us trying to decide what to get. I tipped them 18%, and I got ZERO service, not even two water cups. First time here and I loved it. I had the half chicken, half pork combo. Was considering the goat, but when I asked if it was fatty or lean, they said a little of both. Didn't want to take the chance my first time, so went with the standby proteins. Food was very tasty and a good portion size for dinner, with one thigh, one drumstick, and a portion of cut/sliced pork. Plantains were nicely done too and pleasantly and naturally sweet. We ate here. It's a casual setting and can get loud when a lot of people are here. I'd imagine a lot of people get take out, but it was fine to eat here and tables were kept clean. Let me just begin with -- we will definitely be back & add Back A Yard into our regular food places! We ordered 2 plates -- 1 oxtail & jerk chicken with rice & plantains & 1 oxtail & jerk pork with rice & plantains. I ordered online, picked up my order & left without checking the bag (my mistake). When I got home we realized they gave us a jerk chicken & jerk pork plate instead of the pork & oxtails. I called to try & ask if we can come back to get oxtails because our order was wrong & they said yes without hesitation. We went back for the oxtails I both ladies at the front were very nice. Now the food -- nothing short of amazing! The oxtails were so tender, they were literally falling off the bone. The spice was perfect & the sauce that came with it was spicy, but also very good. Great Caribbean chain in the South Bay Area! Whenever I'm craving Caribbean food, I often turn to Back A Yard because they offer delicious dishes at great prices. I like to get their Beef Oxtail bowl which includes tender pieces of oxtail, rice, beans, and delicious plantains. The oxtail and plantains are cooked perfectly and I love the sauce that cames with the bowl. Back A Yard is one of those places I've known of and thought about going to for years, but just never got around to it, that is until now! I called ahead to pick up food to go for lunch, to my delight they said it would be ready in about 10 minutes, and sure enough it was! I got the jerk chicken and beef oxtails combo, which had a few oxtails, a chicken wing and thigh, rice with beans mixed in, plantains, and a green sauce that seemed similar to a chimichurri. The flavor of everything was great! Though there was a nice spice to the jerk, it wasn't overly spicy and the sweetness of the plantains helped to mellow out the heat in between bites. The chicken was cooked just about perfect and I would definitely get again. Docked a star because the oxtails were about 80% fat, I think I only got one bite that was all meat. The portion was hearty and even after giving away a few bites, I was stuffed when I finished. Would definitely come back here, but would skip the oxtail and try the pork next time. read more

My sister told me that this place is the best bbq place, so I was like- sure let's go. Oh man what a disappointment. Firstly, the lady at the cashier was absolutely rude. She did us a favor by taking our order and wasn't even trying to hide she was annoyed that it took us time to decide. Secondly, I wanted to replace the fries with a salad, no go, not such option, fries or rice and good luck. Food came out fast. Fries were not even good, soggy and unflavored. The ribs I took were great, the chicken was stale and no flavor whatsoever. I honestly don't understand what the hype is all about. We got plastic utensils that broke off and I had to go and ask for a new fork 3 times, why?! Get proper utensils or at least get the ones that can actually deal with the meat. Less then 5 min drive you have south Winchester BBQ which are wayyyy nicer, good value for money and you can get some healthier alternatives for your sides. Won't be coming back for sure! Friend brought me here for dinner on a Friday night after pickleball. Pretty straightforward menu and I ended up getting the oxtail plate. Price: average for South Bay, $19 with tax. Ordering: order at front and find a table after, they will bring to you. Crowd: lots of seating and while not empty, not particularly crowded either. Food: the oxtail was so tender and was very yummy. the rice was a tad too soft for my preference, but ok. the fried plantains were super yummy and very sweet which was a nice switch up. Overall it was good, but I think the textures were too soft, I needed something else that had a firmer texture. It also came with rice and plantains. The portions were large. Neither of us finished our food. The oxtails were pretty good, but some of them were a little tough. The chicken was just ok. Not too busy of a place, was able to order and sit down quickly. Had a group of 8 and still was able to have everyone sit together at a round table, so great for big groups. The portion size is very generous, and was about 2 meals for me. The flavor was good and I appreciate how the ribs didn't taste like they just poured bbq sauce all over them, it was genuine flavor. My first time here after hearing about it for years. My friend whose family is from the Caribbean said this place gives him a taste of home. The food was absolutely amazing. Oxtail platter was incredible. The oxtail is very rich and buttery and the meat is tender and flavorful. It's served with rice and plantains which are also to die for. The meat patty is a must have too. The jerk chicken is also amazing with a great Smokey flavor. I can't wait to come back. The host Carmen was very sweet and made sure we were enjoying our meal. If you want to have a happy tummy, then you've found the right place. The food her belies the stripmall restaurant aesthetic. The food is legit and amazing! First off, always love a good beef patty and they've got one. Though they do run out, which definitely brings sadness. I'm not really a jerk chicken person, but theirs is phenomenal. On the bone, 3 good pieces with great flavor, tender and coupled with a really tasty jerk dipping sauce. I'm more an ox tail fan and theirs does not disappoint. Unctuous, tender and flavorful. Really good rice and beans (among the best I've had) and of course the requisite plantains which are caramelized like candy. All this and reasonably priced...what's better than that? This place made me so sad and disappointed. I don't like giving bad reviews and only do it when the experience was terrible. It took me two weeks feeling terrible and disappointed and hesitant if I should do this review or not. But I think they should know about this and hopefully someone will do some improvements. About a year ago when I discovered this place we had an amazing dinner here, I told about it to all my friends. Then recently I revisited and ordered a pork plate, and a soup. Well the portions decreased and this pork was so dry, salty, and garlicky that it was super hard to swallow. Unfortunately 30 minutes later took me to the restroom. The soup wasn't good either. Undercooked veggies and an unidentified kind of protein was in it. So after this experience and reading the other 1reviews I am not sure how much break I need to take from this place if not a forever one. read more

I've ordered from Back A Yard multiple times because I kept hearing rave reviews about the food, but each time I was disappointed. Maybe I was disappointed because it didn't hit the way the hype made it sound like it would. Maybe I have unreasonably high expectations. I'm not sure. I have never eaten at the restaurant. I've only ordered food from the restaurant. Maybe that's my problem. Maybe I need to eat the food there. If I do, I'll update this review. Whenever I order from here, the food takes quite some time. That's fine. I usually am not in a rush when I'm ordering food to be delivered anyway. The food I have received is always okay, but there is nothing spectacular about it. I've only tried is as many times as I did because people kept saying I needed to try "this" or "that" to get what makes them so special. Perhaps I'll give them another shot. read more

We've enjoyed Back a Yard for many years from their San Jose location, including Thanksgiving Jerk Turkey. We were so surprisingly disappointed with our dinner tonight. We ordered 4 dishes from the Campbell location for my son's birthday, (2 jerk pork and salmon, jerk white meat chicken, and jerk chicken and salmon). All of the proteins were overcooked and dry, and the jerk chicken and the 3oz portion of salmon was pretty much inedible and similar amount of chicken was also dry/burnt (see pics for reference). Seating area and bathrooms are always clean with music selection jammin' like Bob Marley! We ordered take outs but started eating within 10 mins while it's still warm. The two of us tried four jerk meats, ranking by our own taste: salmon, ox tail, pork, chicken. Everything is so tender and juicy. It has a lot of seasoning but you can taste the food itself, especially the salmon. Another GOTO for sometime: Caribbean BBQ. It's a hole in the wall kind of place, mostly a grab and go. The place to go for a solid heavy meal, delicious lunch/dinner. Go here with a really hungry/solid appetite, and/or after a good cardio/workout. My #1 choice: GOAT curry + OxTail combo. It's really messy and greasy, but man I love it for the curry flavor(my South Indian taste buds). Keep in mind NOT spicy at all. Rice and beans, yummy combination for the goat curry, and the fried plantain, adds more calories man also sweetness (my kiddos don't like it at all). Oxtail: I don't really have much to say but certainly cooked well, delicious and flavorful. It is a bit messy though. What to watch out for sharp bones (goat bones), and meat stuck between your teeth. #2 choice:. Jerk chicken /Oxtail combo: Another one to go for, but certainly because of the specific sauce that is given along with the bbq chicken. It is more the flavor, taste and jerk chicken(Sauce). You can just dip the chicken in that jerk sauce as many times to have the same flavor. Those are the standard ones for my pallet. Not because they were cooking it; they just forgot we were there and when they brought out the dishes, the scallops were no longer just-cooked, and the burger had been sitting for a bit. No apology, just an acknowledgment it was late, and no discount (not even on the stale bread). They offered us wine, we said we didn't drink, and they just moved on. I debated a lot about how to review this. It's my personal experience that was disappointing, and I'm glad some reviews are very upbeat. But there's a handful of reviews noting frustrating delays... and that needs to be worked on.

Grilled artichoke was one of the best I have ever had. (Just wish they had been explicit on the menu that it was a half a grilled artichoke). Cocktails were up to their usual high standard -- rye Manhattan for the BF and clarified milk punch for me. I don't get out much these days and I rarely drink alcohol, but is $20 a lot for a cocktail? Or is that normal now? They were great though. BF got the ribeye with morels, which was perfectly cooked and unbelievably tender. I had the burger, which was more exciting than it sounds, dressed with a wild combo of veggies, cheese and bacon while still managing to be harmonious and fresh tasting. Side of fries were crisp and tasty, though not as perfectly hot as I would ideally wish. Because the burger was late coming out, or server (Bernardo I think?) comped us an amazing little dish of vanilla soft serve ice cream with olive oil and sea salt, along with the butterscotch pudding that we ordered. The pudding didn't have the strong butterscotch flavor that I hoped for, but the vanilla ice cream stole the dessert show. OCK isn't a place I can afford often, but I still really like it. I appreciate the creativity of the dishes, the quality ingredients, and the bar. And the old-school shopping center vibe of the Pruneyard is low key festive and garden-like. Our server Katherine N was outright hostile and messed up our order on top of having a really rude and unprofessional attitude. Bummer. This used to be the best dining in Pruneyard but its sister restaurant Be.steak.a, as well as Luna and Marafuku Ramen make OCK's bib gourmand look more than undeserved. The rest of the wait staff is lovely, and we look forward to some improvements in the menu intentionality and execution as well as said outlier staff member, as this restaurant has been a favorite in our family for over five years.

I read great reviews about this place, specifically the steak, so took the gamble and booked reservations. It is a Michelin recognized restaurant so had high expectations and wow were they exceeded ! We were running late and so gave a call to see if we can still be accommodated which was no issue at all or rush. Upon arrival we were greeted with a happy birthday and welcomed with a delicious, homey, & warm chicken broth to start our visit. Hostess then guided us to our table and on the walk you see the candy table and the beautiful open kitchen. Ambience is fine dining meets modern day with beautiful shades of blue with just enough dim lighting to make it intimate for your table. Volume decent enough to have conversation. When we sat there was already a birthday card and my bf was very happy and excited. It included a bday card with staff signatures and a $2 bill - it was so cute! Our server was Aaron who was outstanding. He had great suggestions without being pushy and was very honest on recommendations. He listened to our requests and guided us with a delicious meal based on our preferences. We also were not rushed during the whole dining experience - the timing between getting orders and checking in was perfect. We had enough time to finish each meal without scarfing ourselves or crowding our table with other food. & there was never a wait for service. This we really appreciated and found unique to our dining experience. Staff also were quick to provide refills. To the food ! We were given complimentary vegetable crudite - seasonal fresh cooled veggies and a flavor bomb of a dip ! Cream cheese, white miso, garlic, & other stuff. Steak was a good quality and tasty steak, but with the onions and demi that's where it shined and separated itself from other high quality steaks. It was delicious with the rice. Ravioli was tasty as a pre-meal and glad I swapped to it bc we did order pretty heavy. Prob one of the best steaks we had. And we are steak eaters ! My bf tied it with his #1 steakhouse. Overall all the food was more than enough for the two of us to share. Then ofc ended our night with the table flambé sticky toffee pudding which was immaculate! I will say the caramel was either over cooked or too much alcohol bc there was a bitter taste towards the end. But the dulce de leche ice cream helped balance the bitterness. We started out with complimentary glasses of Prosecco and sparkling cider while we waited to be seated. There was a little delay in getting our table, but it wasn't really a problem because we were chatting and enjoying the drinks. Before we entered, they had a floral photo wall where we took a photo together to memorialize the experience. And when we sat at the table, they had placed a lovely Mother's Day card on the table signed by the staff. The decor at Be.Steak.A is modern and feels very upscale. I think the bathrooms say a lot about a restaurant's attention to detail, and the bathrooms at Be.Steak.A were elevated - essential oil infused salt scrub to wash your hands, bidets, etc. The brunch buffet is just as described - hot items and pastries in the kitchen (so cool), a caviar bar outside, a separate station for cold seafood, another station for fruit and charcuterie, and then assorted desserts on the bar. The food was excellent. We started with the caviar -- the options and accouterments were plentiful and delicious. The caviar bar was so fun and felt luxurious. This was one of the highlights of the whole experience for me. For the other seafood, we enjoyed oysters, shrimp, crab legs, and other little seafood dishes, which unfortunately weren't labeled, so we didn't always know what we were eating. My friend had some dietary restrictions she was concerned about, so that was a little frustrating for her. But my favorite bite of the entire day was one of those unmarked seafood dishes- I wish I could tell you what it was -I think it was possibly squid. But it was so fresh and flavorful. Yum! The hot food in the kitchen was a neat experience. They had skewers and prime rib and many other dishes to choose from. I kept coming back to the seafood skewers. The desserts were good but a number of them were a little dry, I have to say. Surprisingly, my favorite was a little passionfruit tart that had just the right amount of sweetness. I'm usually a chocolate kinda gal but there weren't that many chocolate options, I have to say. A few other things- our server was lovely and gave us a lay of the land to start. She made sure we had any drinks we wanted and plenty of extra silverware. While there just aren't as many touch points with a server at a buffet, the interactions we did have were very positive. And even though I was disappointed that they ran out of the Beef Wellington, I was so impressed with how they kept replenishing and refilling the other dishes right up to the end of the buffet. I remember the steak was tender, juicy, grilled perfectly, the gravy was hearty and robust. the vegetables were cooked right ( fresh and tangy ) and the mashed potatoes were oh so fluffy and creamy. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal to the fullest and I left no food on my plate. This was a meal that was pretty epic for what it was and I was throughly satisfied. I ordered a tiramisu for dessert to take home and I'm sure it will be as good as the meal I had at the restaurant. Trattoria 360 is a fine establishment that has earned its flowers and you should give them a try if you're looking for delicious Italian food that is a cut above!

We came on a Tuesday afternoon, so they weren't very busy and there were plenty of seats open. Let's start with the service. We were greeted as soon as we walked through the door and seated promptly. The staff was very attentive in checking in on us and they made sure to refill our waters. Overall service was excellent. Since this was a Tuesday afternoon there weren't that many people, but the ambiance of the restaurant overall was pretty nice. We ordered our food in two sets. First we ordered the pork XLB, the beef pot stickers, Dan Dan noodles and the ja jiang mian. Then we ordered the Q-bao and banana crepe. The first round of food came out quickly and we noticed that the banana crepe was sold out. 1. XLB - there was nothing really special about the XLB at Dough Zone. The wrapper was a bit thicker than I personally like and the filling was just ok. Not the worst XLB I've had, but there are definitely better out there. We were offered ginger for these and the ginger was given to us grated instead of julienne. 3/5 2. Beef pot stickers - these were surprisingly good with the crispy underside and a juicy filling. Would definitely order these again. 4/5 3. Dan Dan noodles - these noodles are made with ma la (麻辣) sauce which translates to numbing spice popular in sichuan cuisine. The flavor of the noodles was a little under whelming, relying entirely on the numbing spice, and honestly these were not spicy enough. I also did not enjoy the texture of these noodles as they were cooked al dente, but that did not go well with these types of noodles in my opinion. 2/5 4. Ja Jiang mian - these noodles were cooked to the same texture as the Dan Dan noodles and I didn't enjoy the texture. The flavor was a little too sweet and the texture of the sauce was a little grainy. 3/5 After finishing these 4 dishes we were still a little hungry so we ordered the Q-bao. We also noticed the banana crepe was no longer sold out, so we ordered that too. When the waiter came out with the order ticket she apologized and told us there would be a little bit of a wait for both of these as they were fried. The total wait time was 20 minutes after ordering. The restaurant was not busy, so wait times might be longer if they are busy. 5. Q-bao - these were the best thing we ordered. The bun was warm and fluffy and the filling went well with them. The inside was moist and juicy and the sear on the bottom was perfect. 5/5 6. Banana crepe w/ whipped cream - the batter used for the crepe was the same texture as what you would expect the green onion pancake to have. It was chewy and flaky, but a little off putting as I was almost expecting a savory flavor from my dessert. It went well with the banana and whipped cream. 4/5 Of the 6 items I ordered I would rank them as the following: Q-bao, beef pot stickers, banana crepe, ja Jiang mian, XLB, Dan Dan noodles.

The staff were very friendly, gentle, and attentive, which made the experience pleasant. The food was enjoyable, especially the Dan Dan noodles -- very unique and fun flavor. It has that numbing spice that makes your tongue tingle, in a good way! Excited to see this location improve as they settle in.

The lady at the front (I think she was Vietnamese) was very friendly, welcoming, and provided outstanding customer service. She made us feel appreciated from the moment we walked in. Overall, the food, service, and environment were all excellent. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic, delicious ramen. I'll definitely be coming back!

I've had others such as the Butter Corn, Yuzu, Cheesey, but the cream vegan wins my heart and taste buds. I've also gone to other establishments and my go to's are closed indefinitely or the flavors are a miss. The ambiance and food service is amazing as well. All the workers are friendly, and very approachable. I've never had a bad experience whether it is during the day time or night and late late night. I also really appreciate the hours of operation. It's hard to find places open at late nights especially when I work late hours.

My absolute favorite dish is the grilled shrimp and BBQ pork with rice sheet wraps, it's outstanding. Their appetizers are good, and the egg rolls are especially delicious. The beef soup is also solid and comforting. You can tell this place has a loyal following many of the customers seem to be regulars, which really adds to the cozy, family style atmosphere. Fresh rolls and spring rolls were both amazing (2 for $7.25/ 4 for $11.25/ 8 for $19.25) Fresh rolls came with peanut and fish dipping sauce. A little sad that a lot of the fresh roll was bean sprouts and not noodles. Feels a little cheap. Spring rolls containing veggies inside was fantastic. Piping hot right out of the fryer. I could not get enough of it. Definitely worth the try for first-time visitors. I tried the ginger aromatic chicken this time $16.75, which came with rice and a very very small bowl of veggies that I think lack sauce. The Chicken on the other side was very flavorful, slightly dry. Lastly, the dessert was a surprisingly good finish to the meal. Always great to dine here.
