The pizza, oh the pizza! It is amazing! Thin crust, great toppings and always cooked to perfection. My last takeout experience was less than stellar.....waiting approximately 30 mins longer than my 40 min pick up time. The atmosphere inside leaves much to be desired, however the kids can enjoy several arcade games. The liquor is quite pricey, and I would not recommend going there for the bar. Every time my husband and I have gone it was very slow, which is just a well because a jameson on the rocks was upwards of 8 dollars for a single shot on ice. All in all I adore the pizza and will wait for pickup, but after several turn offs for dine in, take out is the only option for us from thus point forward. read more

I've been to Clover Bar many times over the past decade. Hubby and I returned for dinner last pm and were extremely disappointed. We ordered a whole Antipasto salad and it had a whopping 5-1/2 pepperonis and almost no cheese. It had 1 slice of tomato but was basically just iceberg lettuce. Hubby's hot ham n cheese sub came out and was cold. Had to send back to be heated. My pizza, a small Deluxe, was greasy and needed to be cut, which is a challenge when you have a broken wrist. Oh I forgot to mention were seated 10 minutes and had to flag down a server otherwise we'd prob still be sitting there. Plus they ran out of clean knives so we had to share a single knife. I know Friday nights are busy but we won't be going back. Pizza was not very tasty. Things have gone way downhill!! read more

the service has always been bad here but my experience a couple weeks ago was especially bad. TJ (owner) is printing money at this point and needs to hire a few more waiters/waitresses so that it doesn't take an hour and a half to eat dinner. and to not have a card reader on the restaurant side is just not smart. call ahead to get the pizza but get it to go. read more

I have been going to this restaurant for 25 years, the food is really quite good, but it is not the food that is warranting this review. The service is deplorable. The staff is snarky, arrogant and rude. I ordered 4 pizzas to bring to work in September of 2015. I work an hour away and late at night. I picked them up and brought them in, when we went to eat them we noticed 2 of the pizzas were completely wrong. I emailed the restaurant the following morning and called them in the evening. The bartender refused to let me talk to a manager and when I told him what happened he would only offer me half off one pizza and no apology. The next day I called back again and talked to the same guy, again he refused but I did not tell him what it was about. I demanded to talk to a manager and finally he relented. The manager was a very snarky female and she reiterated that she wouldn't do anything. I asked politely to speak to an owner and she would not let me. She then told me I should have said something the night it happened. I said that I was an hour away and that they were closed. I also said I immediately emailed them the following morning. She informed me, in her most patronizing tone, that nobody checks that email address. She then asked "do you want half off a pizza or not!?" I replied no thanks, I will just not order from your restaurant again. She replied emphatically, "good!!!" And hung up. The old saying goes, you go to a restaurant for the food and return for the service. Well this patron is not returning to a restaurant that has consistently made some of the best pizza around for 25 years. This was about the worst customer service I've ever experienced. read more

I LOVE their pizza and the Five Star sub is my favorite!! The service is horrendous.. Waited 50 minutes for 3 subs and a pizza. Didn't get the correct subs and the pizza never was brought to the table. Asked numerous times. The other server was trying to help but ours was no where to be found. Cane to our table twice during the 50 minutes. Never brought silverware. Not sure if he was the manager or what but the older gentleman behind the bar never apologized just walked by and said "I took your bill". While I appreciate the meal, I would have had no problem paying for what we did get if there had been some acknowledgement of what went wrong. Came here last year while on vacation in Grand Haven for the first time and loved this place. We came back again and were disappointed this year. Pizza was not as good, salad was garbage, and to top it off, would not recognize a coupon that is printed on local website because it's "summer". Nowhere did it state this was our during summer months. Neighborhood bar with good pizza. This is more of a locals place vs tourist. The pizza sauce was good and the thin crust was tasty. Good food and good value. The slices in the large get really soggy in the middle, better off getting two smaller pies to increase the amount of crispy pieces! read more

The only reason this has 2 stars is because the pizza is still very good. Hadn't been here in years, should have read the reviews about service. We sat right down upon arrival, and ordered salad and bread sticks within 10 min. They took 20 minutes to arrive. After waiting another 30 minutes, our waitress told us 15 more minutes for our pizza. I have been going to The Clover Bar for pizza for at least 30 years. My step-father grew up on the same side of town, and I would ride my bike there every Friday night in the summer to play video games, and pinball, and have pizza with my parents and grand parents. The 'za is the same today and I have cravings for it every couple months. It can be a long wait, its not always perfect ( last time we ordered we got olives by mistake. Mom said "meh", and we ate it anyways! ). I like Fricano's but for me The Clover Bar is the only pizza I crave in Grand Haven. Owners are awesome and remember me everytime I come in! read more

I hate this place... it's stupid that they only have pastas on Thursday. They only have thin crust pizza. It took 20 minutes to get my refill and it was just a coke. Very good thin crust pizza. There's something special and the sauce and the bird seed sprinkled on it. The deluxe is a must for meat eaters. The veggie pizzas are very as well. I've been eating at Clover Bar since I was a kid (so 35 plus years). While the wait has always been insanely long, the food has always been great. However, they must have recently changed their pizza sauce recipe. It's now OVERLOADED with garlic (and not in a good way). I ordered a deluxe pizza a few weeks ago and again last night. Both times the sauce was so spicy with garlic that it was unpleasant to eat the edges of crust with only sauce on it. Both times we ate this pizza in the past month, both my kids and myself ended up with terrible stomach aches. Sadly, I don't think I can eat here anymore. read more

I remembered that they had good pizza from when I used to live here so wanted to go back during my recent stay in Grand Haven. The place was busy but not full and no wait for a table. We order drinks which seem to take a while to get and then we realized that there was one waitress for the whole room. We order a pizza to eat there and a pizza to take with us. After about 40 minutes, we got a pizza, it wasn't the one we ordered. The waitress said she delivered it to the wrong table. I figured ours would be ready then but we waited again for quite a while until we got what we had ordered. It was delicious, like I remembered but at that point I was hungry enough to eat the table and find it delicious. We had another wait for our to go pizza and then our bill. What could have been a pleasant reminder of the good old days took close to 21/2 hours and will probably be my last time there. read more

Although this restaurant has been around forever they still haven't figured out how to staff it. Every time I'm here the service is ridiculously slow, and some times almost nonexistent. Our waitress tonight was waiting on all of the 14 tables in our section, including cashing everyone out. We were able to only get two rounds of drinks, and that's with us having to retrieve the last round from the bar ourselves. It is probably the third best pizza in town behind Scribs and Fricanos, and is as costly as the other options. Two large pizzas and two rounds of drinks with kids drinks was $80. My wife and I went to Clover Bar because we heard they had good pizza. My wife ordered a meatball sub, again good. We ended up going back for dinner getting spaghetti and lasagna, it was good. However when we ordered an Italian beef sandwich she went in to get her order and the guy who swiped her card kind of threw her card on the bar in a whatever kind of atitude, then just kind of tossed her sandwich to the bar when it came out. We get home and the sandwich had little meat on it, they did not put the peppers on it, i was like well call them and tell them she did... they said they would give her credit next time. Well the nex t night the atitude was back, they weren't crediting her and the guy was rude about it. When we asked to talk to the manager we were told the manager was busy. We said we could hold, but no one ever came back on the phone. At the end of the day, beware of this place. If there is atitude one night there's atitude another, no one needs that, especially with someone preparing your food. My advice is to steer clear of this place, and that's what I'm going to tell everyone. Thankfully I work with the public, so hopefully word gets out and we can save some people on confrontation, and possibly their food being messed with. read more

Service was horrible. We sat down on a Monday summer evening & were given menus after waiting in the booth for 10-15 min. The waitress never came back to even take our drink order. We got up & left after an additional 15-20 min. Waitress saw us walking out & didn't even say anything. We did want to try the pizza because we heard positives about it so we did carry out a few days later. Pizza was very salty. Not great at all.
