Incredible pizza. I always order for pickup and besides taking a while and the lack of decent parking, the pizza is like sweet manna from heaven. The wait is worth it! Crispy crust, nice toppings, delicious and well portioned sauce. Just wish it was located closer to Tacoma (instead of University Place) so I could eat there more. A bit pricey but so worth it. I dined alone last night after a long day on-the-road for work...I sat at the bar and the staff ignored me for the most part. I'm not looking to be smothered by attention, but any help from the wait staff would have been nice. The restaurant/bar was not that busy for a Tuesday at 9 pm; there is no excuse for bad service. The pizza was good, i ordered the mini...if I had engaged with the server she might have suggested that the mini was more of a child size and then I would have upped my order. It took a lot of effort for me to add a tip, but I'm not that way. Normally I would just let this go...but, being ignored, never check-upon and the staff not having any eye contact with me made me feel like I wasn't welcome. read more

We've been coming to Cloverleaf for many years now. Staff is friendly. Pizza is usually very good, but tonight we found the marinara sauce to be almost nonexistent. We called the waiter over & said that someone forgot to put the marinara sauce on our pizza. We even held up a piece and had her look at it from the side because no sauce was visible from that angle. She said, "The crusts are pre-sauced. So there is no way it didn't have sauce." She pointed to a spot or two (about the size of a dime) and said, "There! That's sauce." We said it sure didn't taste like it usually does. She said she could bring us a side order of marinara sauce. We said ok. Ten minutes later the sauce came & pizza was cold. Something like this happened to our friends a few months ago. They haven't returned. We will definitely give it another try. Hopefully there will be more sauce on it next time & maybe some Italian seasoning as well. read more

Ate here a couple of times about 15 years ago then about 5years ago, then just today. They are consistent. Had the monster every time ( supreme ) The crust is very unique, it is very thin and crispy. It is not like NY thin that is high gluten which you can fold and even roll. I read some of the reviews that said there delivered pizza was soggy, I understand. This is the type of pizza crust that has to be eaten immediately because of the lack of extra gluten. But this is fine and it is different. I want to eat a pizza that is not the same as every other. Toppings were good. Also the thing I noticed every time was the pizza does not have a lot of salt, some may call this unflavored, but its another thing that makes it different. read more

Went in there, got large pizza. Wasn't that good. Service was okay. Price for the pizza seemed a bit much. The restaurant itself is clean. The time it took to make the pizza was 44 min. That seems a bit much to me. It says world famous pizza. But what you don't know until you get in there is that it is world famous for their thinnest crust. What the hell is that!?!? Thinnest crust!?!? That was no crust. It reminded me of a really thin crepe. No flavor. Maybe the world famous also for the thinnest sauce. There was no sauce on there. read more

This was absolutely the worst pizza joint I've ever been to. It took 1 hour to get served 2 of the 3 pizzas we ordered. Another 15 minutes to get the third and it was under cooked. The pizzas were not that special and I find it hard to believe it takes that long to make them. We ordered standard pizzas off the menu. The excuse for the 3rd pizza was that it stuck to the pan. While they comped the 3rd pizza it was not enough to make us happy. All we got was we have been here for 50 years so we aren't worried about you telling your friends. Hi, never posted anything before this observation. Very disappointed after ordering take out that included pizza and salad. When I got home to eat the meal i noticed the salad was made with purple onions maybe I'm wrong but it my understanding purple onions are making people sick across the country. We have been Cloverleaf delivery customers for five years or so and have grown accustomed to normally slow delivery times and sometimes "oops I forgot" moments with salads and side orders. Today I ordered a couple of pizzas. After an hour and a half the pizza finally arrived. The pizza was cold and our guests were leaving, so I sent it back. I called and spoke with a manager. He suggested that next time I "pay for the pizza and not be an a****hole." Next time we'll take our business elsewhere. read more

They left me standing there waiting for 10 minutes to order delivery pizzas. So unprofessional. I then had to walk to back family area to get my pizza's ordered as I finally got tired of being ignored. Pizza took 1 hour 25 minutes to arrive after being told 45 minutes. I even called repeatedly asking "where is my $60 worth of pizza's? ?? They show up and are cold and taste like cardboard crap. Worst pizza I have ever eaten. My boyfriend and I recently moved to the area and we're looking for a good pizza place. This may or may not be it. I'm not fully committed yet. The service was ok. The pizza was ok. Nothing really jumps out at me and makes me want to come back. We ordered the house favorite pizza and the sausage was delicious but the pizza altogether was incredibly greasy. So greasy the crust sagged in the middle and remained super crispy on the edges. The crust is different than any other crust I've had but not better. Lots of beers on tap and the 21+ section had a somewhat "dive" atmosphere. We waiting a long time to get our check and I'm still not sure if we will be back. read more

I have been coming here since I was 16. Yes, I looked older than my age. 43 years later and I still love this place. Always get either the Turco or the monster, no extra cheese, no anchovies and add Canadian bacon. Always the regular size, always amazing. The staff largely remains the same and even though Shawna Ruhlig works in the family section she checks to make sure everything is great for us. Definitely the best pizza in town. read more

My parents and Aunt have been coming to Cloverleaf since the 60's as UPS students, then educators in the area and now long retired. I finally had a chance to experience it with a family get together. We ordered the Monster huge size, a pitcher of Bud Light and a couple soft drinks. The place is cool and entertaining to look around at the various collectables and pictures taken throughout the years. You get popcorn to snack on which went well with the beer. The pizza came and all I can say is 'bland'. There was barely a thin layer of tomato sauce..we had to peel off the cheese to even find a hint of red. Heavy on onions and olives and lacking on the meats (all 3 of my pieces didnt have any pepperoni or sausage on them). Worst pizza I have ever had, hands down. Also, their version of 'huge' is most other places large. The crust was great though, a distinct crunch to it made it unique. I also had to go to the bar to get refills of soda, it wasnt very busy, but maybe because we were sitting off to the back and side we were forgotten about. I gave it 2 stars because initially the staff was around and friendly and it is a unique and seemingly fun place to hang out. With all the other reviews, Im sure this isnt common complaint but seems to be hit or miss from looking at other reviews, but it did happen and as it was my 1st time there, I probably wont go back. read more

I guess I've been spoiled with pizza from the East Coast but this was definitely the worst I've ever had. From the crust, to the sauce, to the toppings nothing tasted fresh actually it was tasteless. You would be better off getting a frozen pizza from the supermarket. read more

Soggy, doughy pies that congeal quickly into unappetizing messes. I really wanted to like the place given (some) glowing reviews, but this is further proof that Tacoma is a culinary wasteland. This is not the best pizza in town, but then, I haven't found any great pizza anywhere since I moved here a year ago, and I have tried most of the top 10 on Yelp. A couple friends and I have made eating pizza and watching a scary movie a weekly event and Cloverleaf Pizza came highly recommended, even as far as "the best pizza in Tacoma". I can't say I do or don't agree, I definitely need to take these pies for a few more test runs before it claims that title in my mind, but it WAS delicious. I usually prefer a thicker crust, but I was definitely happy with what we got. If I could put a 1/2 star or 1/4 thats what I would rate these guys for they dont even deserve a star with the low quality pizza they produce. Last night I was really craving pizza and was going to order from the pizza hut right down the street and order the $10 any size any topping pizza. My gf decided to instead order from Cloverleaf pizza saying she heard somewhere it was really good quality. After debating wether to order the regular or HUGE size we went with HUGE thinking it would be exactly that. We also ordered a side or garlic cheese bread. $33+ and an hour later we recieved the biggest dissapointment ever. The pizza that was supposed to be HUGE was a large at any other pizza restaurant. The cheese bread was mediocre and looked like french bread cut into thin slices with butter and herbs on one side and the other with really greasy mozzerella cheese. Had I known I would have made these at home for half the price and 10x better. The pizza as another yelper stated was overly greasy, soggy, and tasted anything but fresh. Sadly my first reaction to my first bite was "wow, I should have just ordered from Pizza Hut." This morning I woke up with a terrible stomach ache. I honestly believe it was caused by the amount of grease from the pizza. Not worth it at all. I don't see myself ordering pizza or anything from these guys ever again! Lesson learned!! read more

I've been here many times because the pizza is some of the best...the crust is excellent, the toppings are fresh and the overall taste is unbeatable in Tacoma (also like The Rock and Neo...but still not as much as Cloverleaf). I do wish the family room was open all the time...I'd probably spend more money there taking my daughter there for lunches. But if you want good pizza, some good beer and want to watch a game...check out the Cloverleaf! Don't expect spectacular service or fast food...but do expect a great pizza. read more

Service was not the best. Granted, we had a party of 18, but it should not take 35 minutes to receive your bill. The serve staff was not happy at all. They seemed to be miserable. On a normal visit, we get decent service at the very least, but tonight made me not want to return. Thus will be the last time I visit cloveleaf. read more

We just love their pizza! The crust is what makes it so good. Nice and thin and crispy. Maybe the others that don't like it are looking for thick piece of bread for their crust otherwise what's not to like. First went to The Cloverleaf 50 years ago and come back whenever I am in Tacoma. The pizza has not changed. It is uniquely great.

After reading good reviews, my wife and I decided to try Cloverleaf for their pizza one evening while on vacation in the Tacoma area. We love New York style thin crust pizza as we grew up in that area. This pizza does not measure up. We had a large pizza, half cheese and half pepperoni and mushrooms. The pizza was brought to the table hot. The crust may have been undercooked. It was crispy, not greasy, but not much taste. The sauce was slightly sweet. The pepperoni was not very spicey. It is a strange place. There is a bar part and then a family part. We set in the latter. Ordered a normal supreme style and a Cheese Burger Pizza. Both were good and yes the Cheeseburger pizza had pickles on it an it was good. The place is unique and sort of cool to try for novelty and the price was reasonable. In a word, horrible. We went last night expecting to get some of their famous pizza. The waitress advised against it because it would take an hour. So we ordered a couple of sandwiches and burgers. It took over an hour to get those. They didn't taste that great. And we've all had food poisoning all night from it. I don't care how good they say their pizza is, we're never going back. read more

Been going here for 30 yrs, the regular monster is the pizza of choice. However today's pizza was a disappointment, crust was soggy in the middle and extra bacon had been ordered,but I think they forgot to cook the bacon!!!!! It has lowered the standards apparently, the monster used to come with lots of cooked bacon, didn't have to order extra!!! read more
