First time here. Went during lunch and was surprised it was busy. You can sit anywhere you want. We ordered the deep fried zucchini and the Turco pizza. Both came out in a timely manner. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY! I came to get a pizza here with my family after reading good things about the place. Unfortunately, upon entering we were told that since my five year old son and infant daughter were with us, that we had to leave and come back at 5pm to eat in the "family friendly" dining room. I mean really? We came for lunch at about 11:45am on a Tuesday and were kicked out for having children. AT NOON ON A TUESDAY. I'll never be back to this place and will spend my money somewhere else that appreciates families. EDIT: In response to the owner, this place should be advertised for what it actually is, a bar/tavern that serves pizza, not a "pizza restaurant". Your hours and age restrictions don't support the idea that this is a normal pizza restaurant. Call it what it is. A 21 and older BAR. read more

On a personal reccomendation, we decided to try this place last night and so we took a drive (missed the exit and had to pay the friggin toll to come back across the bridge..you didn't need to know that, but I wanted to vent a bit). I read most of the reviews before heading out and the common denominator was good pizza/poor service....so we went in expecting slow service. There were two girls running the bar and table area and it was fairly busy, but the wait wasn't too bad. We had a small salad (pretty good) and a large meat pizza w/garlic. Now, the crust has received quite a few accolades here and so it is worth noting that although it is generally not a crust I particulary like, as it reminds me of the 'quick bake' type dough, it was cooked in such a manner that it worked ok with this pizza. The toppings were good, and although not as much as I like, it was still good enough to make this pizza work. I love pizza, but I am very, very particular about what I like and although it's not my favorite, it is a good pizza. If Cloverleaf were located closer to my house, this would be the best in the area. My personal favorite pizza(so far) in the PNW is Flying Pie, it is a heavier pizza, but much, much more expensive. The Cloverleaf pizza is a pretty good pie, especially for the price - so its a pretty good value. In fact, I haven't come across a better deal on a pizza in the PNW(good pizza that is). My wife liked it better than FP and claims its the best she has had here so far. I told her to quit imposing on my reviews and get her own Yelp account so she can write her own reviews. The service was good - remember there were only two gals working and they did a fairly good job at keeping up. All in all, it's a really good pizza for a fair price. I don't know if I would drive this far again, but then again, I just might! Oh, one other thing - it was fairly noisy in there, but most of it came from one overbearing, obnoxious table of dudes that had absolutely no idea they were louder than half of Seattle at an Obama rally. The food takes awhile, but they tell you upfront (it's on the menu). Definitely worth the wait for a well made pie on a crispy crust. This is the kind of place that feels like it should be packed with little league baseball teams or maybe bowling league teams. Well, this was an experience. I would give 3.5 stars if I could. We had the cheeseburger pizza, cheese, pepparoni and Hawaiian. Plus the cheesy bread app. The cheesy bread was amaze, we all wished we ordered two plates of it. The pizzas had great flavor and this crazy addictive completely crispy crust - I've never had anything like it ever. The closest I can think of is maybe a tostinos pizza (you know, like from a box) but that doesn't really come close to describing the crazy crispyness of the crust. 100% craving it, already. The cheese, pepparoni and Hawaiian were just okay. Sorta skimpy on flavor and toppings. The cheeseburger was pretty good. I would order that again no problem. And, I'll go back to try other flavors based on the crispy crust! This place is a bar, but they have a back room for families so that's what we were and that's where we sat. We didn't get alcohol drinks at all. Atmosphere: Abandoned kids party room, dirty, bland and not very inviting. You get stale popcorn as a free appy. There was a worker filling to go cups of parmesan sitting back there. Food: medium size pizza for 16 bucks - priced a little high IMO. We won't be back for awhile because of this. Flavors a mixed bag, some amazing some just ok. Price: pretty steep for what you get. You aren't walking out with leftovers. Service: our waitresses as friendly as a southern belle and just as annoying. My son asked if she had sauce and she said "no, we only have one sauce" and acted like she couldn't figure out he meant..... Ranch. She did other minor annoying things, it was like having an aunt you don't like ask you about your sex life. Awkward. read more

We and our neighbors have been a fan for over 20 years. Recently the quality of the food Is horrific. We order two pizza's when we had family over. The meat pizza was burned on the top and the crust was like soggy soda crackers. The Margarita pizza was horrible. The cheese was the worst ever. They sprinkled freezer dried basil on it. Or guest had about one bite and no one finished it. They both went into the trash. They either need to hire new cooks or just go back to serving drinks. After years of hearing about Cloverleaf and finally turning 21, I had to see for myself what all the fuss was about. And what a day to choose for your first time, Seahawks Sunday. I was just glad my friend and I found a seat. Not 1 person was wearing normal clothing, it was a sea of blue and green. This was great because the energy was up and since the Hawks won, the whole place was happy! -- Now more importantly, the pizza. I had the White Sauce Chicken pizza which was mouth watering. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy, holding up all that white and chicken flavor. I can't say that I wish I would have gone sooner, because it is 21+. So if you aren't old enough, send someone who is in to get a pizza pie and you won't be sorry! read more

My wife and friends have been going to the Cloverleaf for many years. We always enjoy the neighborhood type environment and of course, the pizza is... was second to nobody. That's why it was so surprising to us when last Tuesday my wife and I got a pizza which was burned pretty badly. First time in my experience with Cloverleaf that this has happened. We were celebrating our 47th anniversary and my brother was with us celebrating his 63 rd birthday. We didn't finish even half of it. Here's hoping it was an anomaly. It would be a shame if my favorite pizza place in the world was sliding away. I gave it two stars, just for this experience. The rest of my Cloverleaf experiences have been 4 or 5 star. Beyond delicious. Good pizza is worth waiting for. $20 for a huge pizza isn't too much for pizza and meat of this quality. Possibly one of the best sauces that I've ever had, hands down. Honestly, after reading the reviews, it seems like a lot of the people with negative experiences are just a tad too sensitive. I understand why, I've bitched about food places in my life, both deservedly and undeservedly. But this is the clover leaf, in tacoma. These people make good, greasy food, and they're busy as hell. I am very disappointed in the way I was treated today while trying to order a pizza for delivery . I spoke with two employees that were both very rude ! I have been ordering pizza there for 30 plus years . I didn't come up in their system . Apparently that annoyed the first employee and she handed me off to another employee . I ordered a pizza and asked them to make the pizza with two pieces with only cheese . I was told rudely ... aaa we don't really do that ! They have always done before . Anyway . I've been a regular customer since the seventies and this place made the best pizza in town. The last few times we ordered pizza delivered it arrived soggy thru the middle of the crust. Don't know if this happens if you eat it at the tavern or if it's something about sitting waiting for delivery. I can tell you that it's so soggy and mushy that it's not enjoyable. This has to be the best pizza I have ever had. Crust is thin, crunchy, and holds up to all that you can put on it. No floppy pizza. I am a sucker for the Monster pizza which literally has everything on it, all meats and veggies. I always get it without mushrooms but add jalapenos. So delicious! Quite possibly our favorite pizza these last several years. Thin and crispy, but not so much that it'll tear the roof of your mouth apart. Everything we've had has been delicious there and the staff is always friendly and quick with refills. My only problem is I like my hot wings breaded and fried and the Cloverleafs are not breaded and are baked. That's ok though. It just leaves more room for delicious Larsen pizza slices! read more

I still think they serve the best pie in town, yes, even better than that big chain place we all know about. This pizza is all about the crust. 40 years ago, my mother got the original owner of the joint drunk just to try and get the crust recipe out of him. The bastard didn't budge. Sounds like a "I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you" moment. Then my life could have changed when she handed it down to me. For pizza it's not the quickest as it usually takes 30-35 minutes but sometimes things are worth the wait. Was super disappointed. Not only did we have to wait FOREVER for take out, we received the pizza and it extremely greasy and messy. So greasy we could see our reflection on the pepperoni. Would not recommend. And I don't mind greasy pizza... that's well made read more
