After driving by this adorable cabin for years, we finally stopped by to give their Happy Hour a try. From 4-6pm they offer a great menu of discounted appetizers and it was easy to make a meal from these specials. Though it was early on a winter Tuesday evening, we found the place already filling quickly. Turns out that Tuesday is Bingo night which apparently draws a good crowd. Thankfully, we were early enough to grab a couple seats at the small bar. It definitely seems that reservations may be a good idea here year round. We had always imagined this space to be dark and, well, "cabin-y" inside. We couldn't have been more wrong. It's bright and open and airy. There's a deck out back too which most be great in warm weather. The bartender was obviously very well seasoned. She was prompt, friendly & on top of the rush. I enjoyed watching her efficiency behind the bar - a true professional. We ordered a couple waves of dishes from the discounted menu to try. To start, the Beet Carpaccio was a lovely salad. It paired perfectly with the rich, decadent Smoked Salmon & Crab Dip. For the next course we ordered the Coconut-Crusted Shrimp Skewers and the Streamed Mussels. Again - a great pairing! The Shrimp were good sized with a super crunchy panko & coconut coating. The sweet, spicy sauce was nice - not cloyingly sweet as some can be. And, those mussels were just delicious! I could eat that savory sauce with a spoon! My only request would be more garlic bread to soak up the yumminess! By the time we finished, the house was jammed with Bingo ready diners. While it looked like fun, we moved on to give up our coveted seats to those waiting patiently. While there, we learned that Wednesday is half price martini night. We will be back soon to try those too & are sure to make this a frequent stop. read more

Very affordable good seafood. The lobster salad was amazing!!! Fresh large pieces of lobster with tomatoes, avocado and blue corn chips. I ate the entire plate! Really fresh and tasty. My husband ordered the seafood chowder and it was good. In would agree with the other reviews that it was a little salty. For the main course I had the grilled salmon with crab cake. It was a lot of food. The salmon was very very good and the salmon was good. Too much food. My husband had the stuffed shrimp And he ate everything on his plate. It was also very good. For cocktails I had the grapefruit martini . I really enjoyed it. Tasty and not too sweet. My husband has the very (black berry?) old fashioned and it was also very good. We will definitely return. While vacationing with family in Narragansett, RI, we were pleased with our dining experience at the Coastal Cabin. Appetizers: The Meatball Appetizer was a hit. Flavorful, tender meatballs that come with a spicy curry dipping sauce and pineapple salsa. The Coconut Shrimp were served in a martini glass which complemented their sassy flavor. My daughter and I had the warm Lobster Rolls which were outstanding. The rolls were nicely toasted and buttered. I liked the fennel dill cole slaw served with mine. She said she wanted to make the baked cauliflower served with hers at home. My other daughter had the Lobster Mac and Cheese with cavatappi pasta. Excellent: lots of succulent lobster pieces and fontina cheese, a favorite. My grandson's swordfish sandwich was huge and tasty. See the photo. We put this restaurant on our Want to Return List. We stopped by this place while we were visiting Rhode Island and so glad we did. They have parking on property and we were seated promptly as soon as we walked in. They have plenty of gluten free options to course from and are flexible in switch out things to make a dish gluten free. My husband got the salmon crab cake duet and I got the shortrib, both were delicious. The ambience is casual and matching the name is a cute coastal cabin indeed. I got a mango margarita and my only complaint is that it was too sweet for my liking so if you like sweet drinks this is a great choice .Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

We visited this restaurant during our trip to visit the giant mansions in Newport while staying at a hotel in Kingstown. We found it on Yelp after reading all the positive comments, and our dinner exceeded our expectation. The family was in RI for a soccer tournament and we Stopped here for dinner. Although the entrees are technically per person meals, we stayed true to our family eating style and shared the Mussels, fried calamari, cheeseboard, Truffle fries and the NewYork Strip steak. Been to the Cabin a few times now-previous experiences were great. This visit was a bit disappointing. We ordered two martinis, which were good. My wife ordered the swordfish and I ordered the chicken Marsala. Swordfish was good, although not as good as the last time I had it a few months ago. I remember being blown away by this dish last visit and wasn't this time around. Side of cauliflower was delicious-highlight of the meal. Chicken Marsala was very underwhelming. Chicken portion was very small, was overcooked, and came with a total of 1.5 mushrooms. Not at all what I expect from ordering this dish. Server was great, just disappointed with the food. The 1/2 price appetizers are wonderful and perfect to share with a friend or enjoy as a meal. Pistachio crusted shrimp skewers are jumbo, fresh and the dipping sauce has so much flavor. The presentation is impressive. Beet Carpaccio has two (2) fresh types of beets and all the ingredients are fresh, crunchy and delicious. SO we were out getting some vitamin D down at the URI Bay Campus on Narragansett bay with friends on a Sunday afternoon and decided to get an early supper. We looked around the area and found The Coastal Cabin on Rt 1A a few miles away. None of us had eaten here but the yelp reviews were good so we went there. We were seated at an outside table and we all had mango margaritas which were delicious! We were there at "happy hour" and they had a great selection of appetizers that were half price. I had mussels (half price e at $7.00 ). There were plenty of them too! (Took some home). Me and my friend John had a seafood chowder too. YES, we both loved it! Chock full of seafood! John also had a margarita pizza which was drizzled with balsamic reduction which he loved! My wife and Elaine, a close friend, both had the half priced crab cake which was served on a bed of cabbage slaw and topped with an avocado tomato cilantro salsa. They also had a Beet Carpaccio which had red and gold beets,blue cheese aioli, avocado, toasted walnuts and arugula. Rather tasty!! The prices were reasonable and the food delicious and presented exquisitely ! We heard about their half-priced apps before 6, so we decided to try it out. Overall, we enjoyed the experience. We ordered the beet carpaccio and the fried caprese apps. The beet carpaccio was good. While tasty, the fried caprese was good, but not great. First off, I'd prefer fresh cheese. Secondly, it is nearly August (tomato season) and the tomatoes looked very commercially pink. For a modest portion (for $10 at full price), I expected better. We split a baked pesto gnocchi, which also had mozzarella and tomatoes. We appreciated that the split the order for us. This was absolutely delicious. It was a beautiful night. We sat on the small back porch. If you look hard, you can see the Newport bridge in the distance. This could have been a 3-star review, but the staff was great, the atmosphere was very good and the food was solid for a fairly new place. We're looking forward to trying it again. read more

Offered a bread basket which is rare. I ordered swordfish and I think it was the best piece of swordfish I have ever had! It was juicy and garlicky. Husband had lasagna which he said was "perfectly fine". Nice varied menu although I was hoping for more RI favorites (clams/stuffies/clam cakes/ clam chowder). What a wonderful surprise! We've mistakenly passed this cute little cabin hundreds of times, until now! The atmosphere is warm and inviting and very coastal. The staff was very pleasant, helpful and plentiful. We happened to arrive at the start of a delicious happy hour, warm smoked salmon and crab dip, multicolor beet salad and pan seared crab cake were all scrumptious . We finish off with the seafood pot pie which was stuffed with scallops, shrimp, fish and topped with a fluffy puff pastry which was equally as delicious!
