I was racially discriminated against by the man in this photo. I want the manager and corporate to contact me immediately regarding this employee's behavior. My stomach was in pain, and I needed a large cup of ice. I came into the store at 10:03 PM because there was still a group of customers inside. I politely asked the gentleman for a large cup of ice, explaining that I was feeling ill and needed to take medicine. He yelled "no" at me and said he was closed, even though the doors were still wide open. It would have taken less than 10 seconds for him to get me some ice. He then told me it would cost $0.25. I agreed to pay, but instead, he turned away from me very rudely, handed me a tiny children's-sized cup of ice, and forced me out the door. I enjoy taking a break there because of Martin and Cesar's great customer service and the high quality teas and coffees they carry. The place is generally cool. Nice and clean store so that was great to walk into. And the general energy was good at first. But then when I went to order, the barista who took it kept talking over me. As I was trying to give what I wanted, she just kept asking questions as I spoke. Also, when I received my order, the barista shouted my name twice in a matter of 5 seconds as if I wasn't anywhere near the bar even though I was right next to it. The Blueberry Scone that I got and then coffee was great, as it usually is. Also, I like a little (and I mean a little) STEAMED Oatmilk in my coffee. I feel it compliments the flavor of the coffee and brings out the flavor of the milk better than when the Oatmilk is cold or at room temp. When I asked for that small amount (1/4-1/2 in) I was immediately told it would become an Au Lait. I understand that if it's an even blend of coffee and milk, but an extra $1-$1.50 just because I asked for 1/4-1/2 in?? That's seems unnecessary. ESPECIALLY since I ordered a Hazelnut Latte w/ Oatmilk for my friend so they were already steaming it the Oatmilk anyway. I VASTLY prefer Coffee Bean to Starbucks but Starbucks and most of the local coffee shops I frequent all have that option as a button on their POS. I wasn't pleased. I really liked my experience here! There's a big parking lot in front of the cafe, so that's really nice. It opens until 10 PM, which is enough time for me to wait until the traffic has died down. The staff is super friendly! I got the cookie butter blended smoothie and it was super delicious! I was afraid it would be too sweet but it was actually fine. I would probably get that again the next time I come back. I also really want to try some of their pastries too! There weren't that many seats or plug outlets but luckily I didn't need the plug outlet. The music was kind of loud though, so it was a bit hard to study. Overall, I had a positive experience here. When I contacted the company, I was told that I needed to use the gift card at a physical company location. However, the company is California-based, and has no East Coast locations. I've worked in customer service for a long time so I'm pretty good at telling the difference between a forced interaction and an actual just kind energy, and he was amazing. I asked him his thoughts about a specific drink, and he was very honest and helpful in helping me find the right drink for me. I ended up not getting the one I was asking about, so he helped me settle on a vanilla latte. He even had some interesting things to say about milk options, and in the end I settled on an iced vanilla latte with whole milk.
