I need a caffeine boost on my drive and we pulled over to the Coffee Bean since it was right off the freeway. I ordered a flat white but wanted non-fat milk. I guess I was used to the free substitution at another coffee chain but here they charged 90cents more. I would've expected the charge on non-dairy milk so it caught me by surprise especially since it wasn't mentioned by the barista at any time. Maybe my mild annoyance translated into my taste of the drink. My flat white was just ok with the coffee tasting more on the bitter side. read more

Stopped by this spot on our way to Big Sur, conveniently located off the highway. Always know I am in for a great drink when I stop at CB&TL. The servers were friendly made great conversation, even gave me a few recommendations on local spots to stop for breakfast with my kiddos. I can't say enough wonderful things about this place and the staff. I don't know what their hiring process is but " friendliness and kindness" has to be thiet number one criteria because I've never encountered so many genuinely nice people all in one place. The service is quick and of course everything here is delicious! It is always clean, I'm not afraid to walk in early in the morning with one eye open and a pair of house slippers to grab that morning cup of coffee! One particular barista who I adore is Taylor, this sweet angel goes out of her way to get my order to me personally whenever possible, I'm disabled and have difficulty walking and she has always taken special care of me. She always has a smile on your face and Even when things aren't going so good just seeing her. Seems to turn things around for the day! Stopped by on a Tuesday in the 5 o'clock hour. A handwritten sign on the door stated they were closing early at 6p that day. I wanted to order a chai latte, but they had run out of chai. Bummer. Staff was pleasant & nice. The place was the typical set up, had ample seating, even had chairs for a wait area, but saw some dirtiness on a table. It was spacious & bright inside. It's always a good location to get a good coffee from a chain coffee shop. They have such a better variety and quality of Starbucks. The service is usually pretty spot on at this location too. Just try to order ahead on the app to get yourself in and out a bit quicker. It also earns you free rewards like free coffee or tea. That's a win right there. Too bad this is the only location in SLO county though. Oh well, appreciate the one location that we have. read more

Lately this place has served weak flavor in their drinks. The bathroom ( that is functioning; the other has been "out of order" seems like forever) today was beyond filthy. I don't think it's been cleaned in months basically the last time I came in ( it was awful then)... no seat covers and barely any toilet paper... the sink looks like dirt everywhere. I've seen cleaner bathrooms in a gas station. There were 3 employees on the counter that were totally unnecessary with 2 seated customers, 2 in line ( me and my daughter), and one other random person. The management needs to do better training all around. For the price I'd say a hard pass. read more

I love love love this place! It is so adorable inside. There are a lot of tables inside with a few couches for the more laid back souls out here. Also there are a lot of windows so natural light all day everyday. So whether you're looking to get work done, catch up with a friend, or stare out into the world, this place can be your sanctuary. Coffee bean hopped on the mobile order train so even if you don't have time, order ahead to get your coffee fix and enjoy your beautiful day. Though every time I come in the wait times are not bad. Normally get my drink in 5 minutes or less. Ok but let's get real with the drinks. I honestly love the coffee here. I have had some of the best iced coffees here (throw in that pump of vanilla) and I'm in love. The lattes are good too. Can't go wrong with anything here because even if you're not feeling coffee, they have all the teas and amazing blended drinks. The drive over here is so worth it. I had the pumpkin latte with oat milk and it makes me feel so cozy. (plenty of vegan substitutes with almond, soy, oat, and coconut milk). I asked for my latte not too sweet and it was just right to fit the fall/holiday spirit. My friend got a hazelnut latte. Her words, "this is the best latte I've ever had. literally this is Christmas in a cup." So there you go, it's not just me. (AND can we just say they have the best ice hands down. Coffee bean hands down has the best coffee, specifically lattes. This is the only coffee bean on the central coast with that said it's a shame that their espresso machine is always broken. We live 30 minutes away from this location and have driven there 3-4 times in the last month or 2 and their machine has been broken. So disappointing. read more

Literally the only coffee shop I considered when I needed some internet for work for a few hours. They're open later than basically everyone else in Pismo/ Grover Beach/ Arroyo Grande. Cappuccino was too strong for my taste, more like an espresso machiato. Nothing a little splash of half and half couldn't fix. Clean, spacious shop and friendly, efficient barristas. I'll be back. Have not been here in a while. Barista was really nice. Answered all the questions i had about the coffee and made my coffee in about 3 minutes. Inside is pretty clean and organized. Great music playing, super hip place. Great for friends getting together or just to go in and get a coffee. Plenty if seating inside and outside. I used to love coffee bean growing up and am finally over it thanks to this store. The mobile order is handy but it has limited options - you have to write in for them to put a bit of oat milk in your iced coffee. They constantly forget to update when they're out of an item. So I came in today just to pick up and they were out of the loaf I had already paid for so I had to pick something else. The options weren't great and they barely put any oat milk in my coffee. I then asked for an iced water and they said it costs $.25. I didn't have any form of payment because I had already paid for my items, one of which they didn't even have. No apologies, no offer to just give it to me this time as I had already paid $9 for a mediocre iced coffee and baked item I didn't even want. Luckily my mobile app is down to $0 so I no longer have to go to this location. read more

Went in today with my son a type 1 diabetic I repeatedly asked if you could make a sugar free vanilla ice coffee and I was told yes. I again stated it needed to be sugar free as I watch the girl start to add cookie pieces to the blended drink my son responded no cookie pieces please that is not sugar free. No cookie pieces were added. Again I asked that it all needs to not have any sugar in it and I was told it did not. We both left with our drinks and about half way through his drink I said let me taste it. Well come to find out they made a sugar drink that spiked his blood sugars over 500 Needless to say if you have a child with a food allergy or a disability that can not have certain things this is not the place to go. CB&TL is my favorite coffee shop as far as major chains. This particular location is not ideal as it faces a large parking lot, wedged between a McDonalds and a gas station. As such, it's not a place I would recommend sticking around for the drink or coffee date. That being said, the service is friendly and the location is usually not too busy. After an amazing weekend with family in SLO we were driving back up north and hit up the coffee bean and tea leaf before getting onto The freeway, and it was totally worth it. The people that worked at this location were extremely friendly and nice. As soon as we entered the coffee shop the cashier greeted us. This location was somewhat busy due to its proximity to the freeway and because we were there on a weekend. Despite the crowd the baristas and workers were very relaxed and nice. We ordered a few different drinks, because we had never been to CBTL, but it is similar to a Starbucks it has a lot of the typical espresso drinks, coffees, teas, and blended drinks. The drinks we had were well made, and the drinks were made swiftly. The inside of the coffee shop was well organized and clean. The cashier was doing table touches and wiping down tables. A lot of college students were inside the coffee shop, so there were some seating limitations because a lot of students and study groups were inside. The vibe inside is very chill, they play the typical smooth jazz inside and offer lots of lighting. read more
