I drove through the take out line a couple of days ago and the baristas were not wearing face masks (they were down around their necks). This store was our go-to for coffee and treats several times a week, not anymore. My husband and I have not had any negative experiences outside of the perpetual pothole in their drive-thru there until today. A landscaper with a leafblower was operating it directly next to my husband's car while he was trying to order blowing dirt and leaves into his window when he opened it to order. He tried to ask if he could pull up to order but the staff member kept yelling over the loudspeaker at him that it was okay because she could hear him which wasn't the point? Finally, he got tired of being talked over and said he was just going to go, to which the staffer replied "you're crazy". When he asked her to repeat herself, she pretended as if he was a new customer. Called the manager and she said she'd speak with staff but was honestly pretty dismissive and condescending and didn't seem to care or even attempt to salvage the customer relationship, so we'll just go to the Starbucks next door. read more

The drive thru rarely ever has a line and if they do it moves quickly. Great smooth coffee. I usually get a large carmel iced coffee with either half the amount of vanilla or no vanilla at all. I want to try more things here but the iced coffee is so addictive! The people are nice. The only con is that their carmel iced coffee is more expensive then a Starbucks one. read more

This morning I chose to go to Coffee Bean instead of the Starbucks that is almost next door because there was only one car in the drive through and I was in a hurry (trying to make it to work on time and still get my coffee) I order a coffee and a beagle. keeping it simple, right? I was in the drive through for almost 10 minuets (with, as i said only one car in front of me and it was already at the window and I pulled up to the speaker) I could hear the guy at the window chit chatting with the two people in the car.... not only did it take way too long, they forgot to even ring up my beagle (my order was repeated back to me right at the speaker) I now didn't have the time to wait for them to toast the beagle(they had 10 mins to do that). So I just took my coffee and left. Morning Coffee should be fast and to the point, especially in a drive through! I am now hungry.... read more

This location is right on the way to my sons dentist and I've been here twice and the service has always been exceptional! The employees are always so patient and kind and just really nice all around. My drinks have always been on point and exactly what I ordered and to be honest the last drink I got was even better than I had expected. If you go in, be prepared to get the potpourri stench from Haides in here. The staff has always been nice (I've been 3 times and won't go again). Their espresso is bitter. The chai is sickly sweet and full of chemicals = instantaneous migraine, like, before you get 5 sips. Returned that during my 2nd visit and got... Their Winter Chai is just as bad as the regular chai only supposedly has no syrups... Still tastes like liquid potpourri. Nasty. The only way to cover it up is to add espresso This visit today was #3 - I ordered the Winter Chai with an add shot of espresso... in the drive through. Did it actually come with the shot I ordered? Good - I really liked the cookie butter frap. Absolutely delicious. Bad- we both got "toasted" bagels. They were probably toasted for about 3 seconds. No brown on them at all and was just basically bread with cream cheese. Good - they gave me a whole new bagel when i asked them to re toast my second half. Bad - bagel was a little more toasted but not really that much better. Semi Bad - 2 coffees and 2 bagels was $15 dollars. Seems a bit much for that. read more

I am an avid coffee bean fan grew up in the town of the original CBTL in Camarillo. I was so stoked when I heard there was one not far from me in Poway! Even saw on the app that Poway is the only store using the app in San Diego besides all of the LA locations. But when I go in this weekend the employees say they aren't using the app there! Is your location use on the app Incorrect or are your employees not aware? I would Love to start using the app and it drives me crazy when businesses are listed to have something and then don't! I have been going to this location since it opened, at times multiple times per day and other times a few times a week down to a few times a month. I have the app but barely ever use it when checking out so I have some loyalty points but they are way less than my actual visits and dollars spent, mostly because the app takes too long to get to the screen to track you (or at least it used to) The staff has usually been good but varies at times. Recently I went to meet a friend for coffee as you do at a coffee place...We got two coffees and chatted for at least a half an hour, then I got an espresso shot while we were talking and a few minutes later went back and asked for a cup of water. The store charged either 25 cents or 50 cents for the water, I don't quite remember how much but since I had no cash I had to charge it on my credit card. I didn't say anything about it at the time but I have since decided that after paying for 3 coffees, I will not visit a restaurant that charges for water. It's ridiculous change in policy after several years to charge for a cup of water and I will not give my money to a business that charges for it. It is not because I cannot afford it, it is the principle. So whoever made that decision be it corporate or the local owner, you have lost my business thanks to your greed. Sadly I will have to find a new coffeeshop to meet people at and spend my money. Luckily, Poway has many many coffee shops to choose from. read more

Love this location because it has a drive-thru! Inside is spacious and good for meet ups or studying. Love their coffee--on my splurging days I order the ice blended caramel drink or iced caramel latte, and my extremely rough mornings call for their strong cold brew. I really love their tea lattes as well. My go to food item here is the jalapeño cheddar bagel with cream cheese. It's slightly on the oily side but it's so worth it! CBTL has an app similar to the Starbucks app in providing coupons for $ off drinks or free drinks after a certain number are purchased. If you stay in for coffee, they give you your drink in a glass rather than a to go cup which I appreciate. I would seriously come here so much more often if it was on the way to work for me. read more

Must say it was nice being greeted at the door. Ricky was the sweetest and even offered to have the drink in a cool mug for full experience. The Mexican mocha was good and sweet with a foamy heart on top. The only negative? The frustration over the wifi being unpredictable and disconnecting every few minutes was not fun. Erica, the drive-thru barrista, is awesome! Not only friendly and excited but also competent and courteous, she is the best person I've EVER seen work at a Coffee Bean. (And I've been to hundreds, all around the country.) What I liked best about her service is that even though she wasn't familiar with the drink we requested, she immediately asked if we knew what went in it instead of simply saying she couldn't make it (like the Solana Beach location does), and then also got advice from her colleague. That's how you show respect to customers, AND how you utilize your team. :) Another great thing she did was multitask incredibly well, seamlessly moving between customers ordering in the drive thru and people paying at the window without making either party feel at all neglected. I love the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf! Everyone that works at this location has been excellent, particularly Ricky at the drive thru! I have been meaning to do a review for some time mostly because of Ricky, we truly look forward to seeing him in the mornings. I also love the maple pecan scone, it is the perfect size and so good.. they also have the only cookies our 4 year old likes - the 'Complete' vegan cookies. I love the snicker doodle and my fiance and son love the chocolate chip. They are healthy too with good protein and low calories! I love how the ice blended drinks are finely blended, unlike at Starbucks.. I've also always gotten better and nicer service here than at Starbucks. One of my favorite drinks here is the vanilla or hazelnut iced coffee..I like to get them with extra flavor powder! read more

The service at this Coffee Bean is absolutely amazing I had to write a review. The Baristas who were there when I visited were Julia , Quan, Armin , and Jenny (Not 100% sure about spelling). They always welcome me with a smile and they never make mistakes . I do coffee runs and usually order 3+ drinks at a time and up to five today . Everyone says that the drinks were perfect and I'd agree . Amazing always great quality . I plan on visiting TONS of times in the future . UPDATE : Such amazing customer service every time . I went in today (12/05/15) and I did a coffee run for three other people . Nathan usually knows exactly what I want and Jasmin doesn't even care that I pay her in change most of the time LOL. It's a drive thru!!! It's sort of hidden and when you realize it's there you're going too fast to turn around. Just know that you can turn in at Big Lots and go left. Very fast service at the drive thru and friendly smiles from the gentleman working the window. My drink was too sweet but I think it's meant to be very sweet. It's the salted pistachio blended drink. They go by recipes, so it's not their fault...I should have asked if they could make it less sweet. Next time! read more

Super disappointed they closed the Coffee bean closest to us down.(parkway plaza) pretty much the only reason we visited parkway was for Coffee bean. Our closest is now this one in Poway and they maintain the same high standards. I wish Coffee bean was on every street corner instead of Starbucks. The quality of their drinks supersedes their competitors every day of the week. Customer service and products are on point. I've been to this CoffeeBean a few times but this is my first review on it. I felt compelled to let the yelp world know about an employee that really stood out to me, Ricky. I went through the the drive thru and immediately he had this cheery voice on a very early Saturday morning. He complimented me on my muffin/drink pairing which has never happened and I felt my dark soul lighten a smidge. When I got to the next window to pay his disposition just kept radiating. As mentioned in my previous review, I was offered a free drink by an employee that I spoke with after calling to let them know I came in with some co-workers and all of our drinks didn't taste right. This was the second time they've messed up on all of our drinks, but only the first time I've called. I wasn't mad or asking for any freebies. I simply wanted to let them know that some of the people making the drinks might need more training. The employee told me she would write my name down and leave it by the register so I could get my free drink the next time I come in. Well, today was that day. I decided to use the drive through because there was no line. I explained right away to the person taking my order that I was offered a free drink. He told me to pull forward so I could speak with the shift manager. I waited there for a few minutes before someone came to the window and opened it to speak with me. The situation felt very awkward. I didn't think a free drink was going to cause so much drama. The shift manager finally came over and said that he couldn't find a note left by the employee I spoke with. Unfortunately, I could not provide them with a name, only the day and time I called. He then says to me, "Well I'll do it for you this time." Honestly, I understand that they need the information, but you should never make a customer feel like they are in the wrong. It was so uncomfortable and I felt like a fool. It's not like I'm pulling up to their drive through daily claiming that someone promised me a free drink. Give me a break. I will still come here obviously, but I was pretty disappointed that the employee who offered me a freebie didn't leave a note or mention it to anyone. Additionally, I didn't like the shift manager's remark because it made me feel as if he didn't believe me. I never asked for a free drink to begin with. I was simply giving them feedback because I wanted to help out. At least the person who made my drink today was very sweet and made the drink correctly. read more
