Long time patriot; first time reviewer. This is one of my top coffee recommendations when friends are visiting sf. The orange blossom is sooo guud. I also tried the breakfast sandwich this time and was very surprised. The prosciutto, egg salad, garlic herb schmear, togarashl chives, mixed greens on a toasted everything bagel was WOW! I rarely see two of the same people working every time I visit but everyone is informative and great at recommendations based on your preferences. We went during off hours and there was no line and lots of tables available but I know during peak hours there can be a bit of a long and wait for a table. Always a sunny corner for people watching. Matcha came out quickly but coffee took a few more minutes. They were packed on a Saturday afternoon. Ambience: 3/5 - a lot of chairs but decently packed. We managed to snag two counter chairs but even outdoors it was packed. Some of the outdoor tables were empty but there weren't chairs. Not a small space but not large. Probably not a place you can easily come work a long time since there counter tops didn't seem to have people there for a long time. More of a place to come and chit chat. Spro just might be my fav cafe in SF (for the drink/food offerings, a little bit less so on the aesthetics/vibe). They have a very large menu of yummy latte concoctions, baked goods, and food. So far everything I've tried has been delicious. The umami bomb (ikura/truffle avo toast) is my go-to and I'm trying to get through all of the drink offerings. There are so many unique flavor combos, yet I still haven't come across one I haven't liked. There is seating inside & outside and they are dog friendly! So I don't shout things like "GET OFF MY LAWN!" to kids riding by on bikes, but I am the last one to ask about the latest slang. For instance, I had no idea SPRO was short for espresso. I just thought SPRO was some acronym I never heard of. Except for the random senior, the customer base definitely skews younger here, so they probably say SPRO naturally when they order. Luckily, I just had to say 'Cold Brew' when I ordered my iced coffee. For $7.50, I got a large bracing one (Photo 10). However, what I was really hankering for was an egg salad sammie, so I ordered the $16 Veggie Tales, a huge, mostly vegetarian extravaganza with avocado, sharp cheddar, egg salad, tomatoes, onions, greens, a smoked guava rum dressing encased in a thick, toasted ciabatta roll (Photo 9). I sat myself at the counter and wolfed it with brio. The young staff was cordial, which this curmudgeon found refreshing. As you can tell from my previous review, I am a fan. Every time I come here, I am once again reminded just how good coffee can be. Even their $4 drip is fantastic. The single origin espresso is undoubtedly some of the best shots of espresso I have had. Tons of nuance and flavor notes and no bitterness. An example of what a well pulled espresso shot with excellent beans should be. The cookies and pastries are great too. The few times i've had a bigger plate I thought it was okay but I wouldn't necessarily order again. But the coffee, espresso, and pastries are all wonderful and make it 5 stars in my book. 4.5 stars! SPRO is a place I keep coming back to for great breakfast items and unique coffee flavors. I tend to come here for a quick reading/sketching session, and there's always good vibes, great service, and available seating! No one else does it like SPRO. :) I've tried: + Umami Bomb [6/5] (would recommend!) + Sausage and Eggs [4/5] + Salmon Miso [4/5] + Black Swan [5/5] + Hong Kong Milk Tea [3/5] For the food: The Umami Bomb is simply a favorite of mine. I usually get this for the perfect blend of protein, salt, and umami truffle. I've also tried the Sausage and Eggs which was really good! The sausages are huge and pretty tasty, albeit a little dry. The Salmon Miso salad is a HUGE portion size but is really mostly just mixed greens. For drinks: The Black Swan is great! It just tastes like a normal latte but even more earthy and the color is so cool. The Hong Kong Milk Tea is a sweeter and less creamy version of what a HK milk tea should taste like, so I didn't like it as much. My only complaint is that it's a bit pricey for what you get. I would definitely come here more often if the prices were more reasonable, but I usually end up paying around $20 for an entree and $10 for a coffee which feels quite heinous. read more

This café is very straightforward, low on the aesthetics, but high on the quality. The iced mocha was honestly nothing special, but that's what I appreciated about it. I feel that so often, you order one thing and get a spin on another... so that's why I really appreciated the simplicity of the drink. The smoothie on the other hand... was absolutely phenomenal. Given the low price point, and that smoothies are all the rage now, this superfruit smoothie from SPRO was so yummy, filling, and healthy. Expect a line out the door on the weekends, and expect it to take a while since the barista's are also the cashiers, but enjoy the proximity to the park and high-quality ingredients! read more

Espresso tastes great - a bit more on a acidic side, which I like. Not that I have trained palette. So don't hold me to that. But my partner also enjoys the cappuccinos that she gets. Very open room, lots of light (which makes sense since the entire wall is windows), and a great place to sit and read, do some work, or just people watch on Church street. Also has outdoor tables for a nicer day. Music is a nice relaxing vibe. And don't want to understate the bathroom vibe. It's great - even got a bidet. The food is pricey, but there are a lot of good looking food options, so if you're looking for a good coffee with food options, I'm a fan. read more

However, I do appreciate that they made me a new drink (Indian Summer) which was alright. It did take a while to make the drinks so keep that in mind. I've been to this and other SPRO locations quite a few times and always enjoy the creations. I must admit, I've never had "just a coffee" at SPRO, nor would I recommend you do so. They have such fun and tasty coffee creations, I stay on that side of the menu. They don't have the same drinks at all if their locations, so at this one, be sure to grab a Pixie Dust. The Yuzu and numbing peppercorn is really a tasty combo with a latte. Service is always good and friendly. This visit, the woman taking my order was super nice as were the baristas. The environment is pretty standard coffee shop, tables inside and out with a counter by the window great for people watching. Will be back again and again. read more

Awesome very cute place, amazing drinks, and unique coffee and nice interior and outdoor seating. The only downside to this place is their menu. Their coffee menu is kind of hidden on the side of the wall, and their main menu in front has very unusual categories or drinks which don't seem to have a clear theme. Aside from that, I'm excited to try all their drinks, they are not like most coffee shops that serve the typical mocha, latte americano. read more

I visited this location late Sunday morning with a friend. For a weekend, it was surprisingly full of people working inside, and the chatters were sitting outside. Fortunately, we were able to find a table indoors. They do have a rotating seasonal menu. I got the tea thyme (black currant, thyme, coffee, oat milk) and my friend got the island hop (ube, coconut, coffee, tres leches). The price of the drinks are a bit steep, but understandable considering the ingredient components, and this is SF after all. Both our drinks matched the description, so no surprises there. The tea thyme had a very subtle black currant flavor that provided more of a jammy aftertaste while the latte was just very sweet upfront. I typically drink black coffee, so it tasted pretty much like a dessert to me - tasty but undeniably sweet. This is a nice place to work though with the bright lighting, white minimalistic aesthetic, a water dispenser, wifi, decent amount of tables/eats, and a clean bathroom that has a bidet! read more

Rlly paid $8 for a cup of frothed oat milk. Negative matcha taste, just oat and milk. This geisha matcha drink was too sad to drink out of so I asked if I could get more matcha, but they said they only do so at an extra charge. We ordered the mashup (sous vide eggs on potato mash on toast), pixie dust, spiced islands, and sirloin doggy bowl. The eggs are the best I've had: medium done-ness and paired well with the mash. I personally prefer rye toast instead of white but still delicious. The pixie dust was subtle and sweet. My only wish is for the hot coffee to come a little hotter. But next time I will just get my drink iced. The dogs loooooved their sirloin with brown rice, peas, and carrots. Such a big portion, looks like a good meal for a dog 25-30 lbs. I ended up going with an island hop ($6.5/12 oz) with oatmilk (+$1). The combination of the ube, coconut, and espresso gave the drink a very satisfyingly nutty flavor. I was afraid that the drink would be too sweet because of all the flavoring but it was actually not too bad! It wouldn't be great for someone who does not like sweet drinks, but overall the sweetness balanced out very well with the espresso. I craved Peking duck, and the Peking duck burrito was a new spin. There's a decent amount of duck and enough other ingredients. The burrito is too salty, which is maybe why sweet and sour sauce is included, but the sauce is an odd choice. I don't think the excess salt is from the duck. I'd often pass by SPRO on my way to the gym and I have to say it's become one of my go to cafes in the area. It feels like it's straight out of AD but the service is warm and friendly. They have a large beverage menu and some of their creations may tempt the coffee-only folks out there. Lots of food options as well. It's funny to say that my go to is probably the overnight oats but I haven't been able to duplicate it at home. SPRO is nice AM stop to do some prep and idea generation before the morning rush. I wanted to get some coffee after walking my dog at Dolores Park. Luckily they were open during Thanksgiving day! I ordered a Diego Bermudez pour over coffee along with a salmon sandwich. The pour over coffee definitely had a subtle citrus taste to it as was described in the menu. The salmon sandwich was basically a salmon lox bagel which was also great. Normally I just like it with just the spread but the mixed greens were a nice touch. They're also dog friendly too. I could've sat inside but decided that it was nice enough to sit outside. Was recommended to this coffee shop by a friend, and it was my first time having ube and coconut flavored coffee. The first few sips were interesting as I tried to get use to the flavor but once I did, I thought the coffee was amazing. The ube is strong so if you don't like ube flavor I don't recommend the drink. I got a hot version since that is what my friend recommended but I can definitely see the cold version but just as good. This spot is the perfect place if you want to grab a bite for breakfast and enjoy looking out at people and cars passing by. Conveniently located on the corner I can imagine on a sunny day it would attract lots of light. Tried a whole milk latte and the umami toast. Wow! Umami toast is like a sushi lovers next best thing for breakfast! I would come here every day and eat this it's incredible. Perfect portion and the sourdough bread is soft and fluffy inside with crispy crunchy edges. A little tough to cut so I might skip the fork and knife next time. More like a 4.5!! Hit up SPRO near Dolores Park & got the Indian Summer which had rose petal syrup, a gooood amount of cardamom, espresso, and oat milk. This was like drinking a nicely spiced florally chai but in coffee form. I loved it and it was so smooth without being too strong and giving me jitters lol. This coffee shop is also in prime location being right next to the park. Loved this experience here and would happily return to try other specialty drinks!
