Went to Common Table McKinney last night for what was likely the last time. I'm extremely disappointed since we loved Common Table initially. Last night we went after being told by management to give them another try. My friend and I had gone to celebrate my birthday and service was terrible. Our server couldn't tell us what breakfast potatoes were or what juices they had for mimosas and the overall dining experience was soooo slow it took almost two hours to get situated with food and drinks just for my food to come out incorrect. We were then told there's a two hour limit and needed to go and needed to pay 18% gratuity on what was easily 9% service. When we arrived last night, it was PACKED. We waited at the door 15 minutes before anyone came to seat us. We got a server eventually and she took our drink and appetizer order. I asked for a side of macaroni and they brought out Kraft which isn't even on the menu. She did offer to fix it but my daughter was already upset from the wait. We weren't given plates or even silverware until our main food arrived and I let a manager know service was slow.. within minutes, the server came back out and tells me "So I hear you're having slow service.. I am SOOOO SORRY the service is slow" and begins quickly and sarcastically filling our empty cups and actually starts taking care of us. She took decent care of us for maybe 20 mins then disappeared again. My fiancé couldn't get a beer and our sangria was watery and we wanted to send it back but didn't want to bother with her attitude or the issue. She brought out the wrong order of wings so my mom didn't get to finish dinner and didn't come back to ask about our food or so we could order more AYCE wings. She said the owner was taking care of her and that explains why the service went from slow to okay to absolutely horrible. Kevin and Shelton (managers) tried to help throughout the night, but overall it was an uncomfortable experience and we won't be back. Sucks because we really liked this spot at first! read more

We had the displeasure of eating at The Common Table today for Saturday brunch. We arrived in the early afternoon, not really knowing anything about the place. First off, it was loud. Loud inside and loud outside. They were playing music, but the crowd noise was so loud it was difficult to even hear the music. For some people, this may be a bonus. It was not for me. The server came a took our order; two waters without lemon, eggs Benedict and the short rib hash. She returned a few minutes later with two waters with lemon and no ice. Ok, maybe she just didn't hear that part of the order. She did correct it rather quickly. A few minutes later another person brought our food. Things went downhill from here. The eggs Benedict had what can only be described as a sad hollandaise sauce. It was very thin and there was maybe a teaspoon of it on each egg. we flagged down the server and asked for more hollandaise sauce. The eggs on the short ribs has were overcooked and bland. I don't know why restaurants insist on using white factory produced eggs when for just a little bit more you can get brown eggs that are pasture raised that are miles above in flavor. The bechamel sauce was grainy and had clearly broken and as a result was not very edible. As the eggs Benedict sat waiting for a suitable quantity of sauce, we waited for probably five minutes before getting up and stopping our server to remind her that we needed more hollandaise. The second sauce that arrived was completely different; much thicker but it honestly looks like it came from a Knorr mix. Just my opinion. Most of our food went uneaten, our water was empty for most of the time that we were there. The food and the service were just downright horrible. I went home and almost immediately got sick. To add insult to injury, an 18% gratuity is automatically added and they still ask for an additional tip. Of all of the places we have dined this year, this comes in only slightly better than the barbecue places in Kansas City. And I didn't get sick from any of them. Never again. Worst food I've had in McKinney. I should have listened to the people coming out the door when we arrived who said it wasn't very good. What an understatement. read more

This was one of the most horrible dining experiences I have ever had. It took 30 minutes to even get a glass of water, and another 30 to get our order taken. Once we were done eating, we were waiting on our checks for another 30 minutes and a security guard comes over asking us to leave because it had been over 2 hours. We told him we wanted to go but had not gotten our checks yet. The Frisco location has never treated us like this. I can't help but think about the non people of color that had been there the same amount of time and didn't have to wait an hour on their order to be taken. It was humiliating and dehumanizing to have the security guard ask us to leave when we were waiting on our checks. This is not Frisco, they do not want black people to patronize their location. Wow send the security guard over to the black people. The server could've said something and brought our checks that we were waiting on. She ignored us the entire visit. We were not loud, uncouth, or rude... non of the stereotypes, but still treated less than. Also the vegan omelette very bland. read more

Drinks good, bartender good. Food NOT GOOD. Chicken pot pie is a soup with a round bread floating on top. It turned to soggy mush within minutes. It was so salty it was almost inedible. It was more of a shredded chicken in brine broth with a few diced carrots and one pea. I am not and have never been a picky person but y'all this was something else! My friend got the quesadilla and it was also extremely salty. Maybe the cooks are new but man, y'all are losing business. I heard the lady to my left also say her food was super salty. I had a plan on coming to eat here for brunch this morning. I was expecting hip hop brunch but they changed the theme to "yacht". HORRIBLE IDEA. The music selection is horrible. The McKinney location has a lot to learn from the frisco location. If you want to roll up and cut offs and a tank top, this is the place to do it. Food was undercooked and wait staff is not well groomed, to the point you lose your appetite. We ate dinner here on a Tuesday night, it wasn't super busy, but we made reservations. Friendly staff quickly took our drink orders. I ordered the chicken pot pie which was a generous amount of chicken stew filling covered in puff pastry. It was good. One of our group ordered the prime rib French dip, which uncharacteristically had grilled onions on it. I wouldn't have minded, but it put my friend off. Don't know if it was prime rib or just roast beef, but that can be hard to tell. The women split a couple of appetizers (which like the drinks were 1/2 price on Tuesdays) they ordered spinach artichoke dip, which came with fried pita chips and tortilla chips to dip with. Frankly the pita chips could use some work, they were kind of soggy, but the dip was good. They ordered mac & cheese and Brussels sprouts and some Asian boneless chicken wings. I didn't try these as I don't like sprouts (I want to but just don't) and the difference between the best and worst mac & cheese I have ever tried is not big. (It's like apple pie, there is a base recipe and unless you are adding an off the wall ingredient, like caramel or in the case of M&C, Lobster or truffles; they are what they are.) Talk about a restaurant experience that makes you never want to come back! The food was generally average with my red fish being extremely overcooked. Ambience is definitely a cheap sports bar vibe trying to be fancy. The furniture is very low end and the workers are not the most professional. They absolutely failed in remembering my birthday too. My wife even called them in advance to ask if they do anything special for birthdays. They offered a special dessert, singing, and sparklers. Not only did that never happen but the waiter didn't even offer us dessert! The guy that spoke to my wife on the phone assured her that everything would be taken care of but nothing was done at all! The manager denied all claims, was extremely unprofessional, refused to take blame, and made up a lie that my wife was supposed to get back to them. To make matters even worse, my wife requested a booth and that was not offered to me either! If you want a nice dinner spot in McKinney, definitely don't give them your business! read more

I went to this place with several friends for happy hour. Huge mistake, huge mistake!! One gal ordered Sangria, the waiter said we are out of Sangria. Ok she said I'll have a glass of Merlot, waiter said we are out of Merlot. WTF, how can you be out of Merlot and Sangria??? The waiter said "they were in the process of changing the menu so some of the food/drinks had been discontinued." We ordered some appetizers that were not so good. We had to literally flag down our waiter to get our checks. I tried to pay in cash and our waiter said that they didn't accept cash. I have never been anywhere in America where an establishment didn't accept cash. So I gave him my credit card. When I left and was in my car, I called the restaurant and asked if they accepted cash. I was told it accepted credit & debit cards and cash. So our really short and skinny waiter with tattoos all over his body,as well as, a Playboy Bunny tattoo under his ear ( what a fool you are) just lied to me. First yelp review ever. So I always go to the common table in Frisco with my wife and we love it! So we decided to try out the one in McKinney for the first time. Started off well. We got seated right away, place was pretty empty, only 2 tables were occupied inside when we were seated. But 10 minutes pass and we haven't been helped. Suddenly a group gets seated in front of us, then a family of 10-15 get seated down as well (and again 10 minutes after we been waiting). And they get servers immediately. We are now sitting there for 20 minutes no help, and the servers see that we haven't been helped and don't even ask if we are ok or if anyone has helped us. They just went on with what they were doing. After 25 minutes I finally got up to tell the lady at the front that we haven't been helped and she said "oh they will come once you receive your drinks" I was like WHAT DRINKS? We haven't ordered ANYTHING or been helped. And she just repeated same thing that someone will bring us waters, after I told her we been there for 25 minutes. Another 10 minutes pass and still no one, and the place actually starts getting full and we still have no help. Lady who orginally sat us down was the manager working so I went up to her when I was able to catch her, and told her we still haven't been helped. And she looked shocked cause she said "wait, I sat you guys down like 30 minutes ago". She finally got someone to help us after waiting 40 minutes, and the thing that really got under my skin was that the manager and our server never apologized for the wait of almost and hour. Just brought us our food. When we left, the manager was at the front and she didn't say anything to us. Just watched us leave. I was really disappointed since we get amazing service at the Frisco location. I'll go back only because I do love common table, but I won't be going to this McKinney location anytime soon. read more

Food has become inconsistent. Seems to be a lot of turn over with staffing as well which is unsettling. This is a place I frequent due to the location. The first 2 weeks of being open was an enjoyable experience. Here lately, the food isn't the same. The grits included in the blackened chicken and grits brunch item, the grits taste like the instant grits in the oatmeal packet, just add water. Absolutely awful. I normally have this dish at the Frisco location, and it is amazing every time. The wings taste freezer burnt, and the seasoning is never consistent. The only item I've had recently that was enjoyable were the ahi tuna tacos. Again, the first couple of weeks, the food was enjoyable. The staff seems to change every couple of weeks. Currently, Spencer is our favorite bartender. He is always apologetic the food taste isn't consistent, which he is not the cook. He makes amazing drinks and always have an upbeat attitude. Hopefully they will keep him around. I've even witnessed one of the bar Manager's disciplining an employee right in front of patrons. This employee was off of the clock. This still could've been done behind closed doors. Totally unprofessional. At this point, if we were to return, it would only be for the drinks, not the food. read more
