Gives you that dive bar feel. Music: Every time I have gone has been top 40 or early 2000s. I enjoy it because I love to dance, but the dance floor is small so on a packed night it will be a tight squeeze and HOT! I feel ventilation and ac is poor here so you will be dying if you have a long sleeve on, etc. Deals: This is your go to on THURSDAYS because all the drinks are $5. No joke total win. Birthday party madness part II. It never stops at just one with us. There's always an after party and that's how we ended up here. The Continental Room has a seriously chill vibe. Good luck finding this place. We wandered down a dark alley way and found a mysterious man standing out front and lo and behold, we were here. Huzzah! Inside you'll be surrounded by lush reds and plush velvet booths and a really bad karaoke singer. Order a few drinks and you'll hardly notice he's there. I would not recommend the raspberry though. That crap tasted like bitter cough medicine. Very fun place to listen to music on a Friday or Saturday night. Bartenders are amazing and the atmosphere is classic. Very small dance floor pretty dirty restrooms, but who's chilling in the restroom anyways right? I wish they had snacks to soak up some of the alchohol that is consumed. Unfortunately, whenever I call and try to talk to someone they say management will have to "get back to me" about figuring out the charges. Now that is what I'm talking about!! I finally found a free bar with a dance floor that I like. Wednesday night, is Elvis Presley night. Came early, hung out in one of the booths. Very chill atmosphere except at 10ish you hear this dude singing Elvis songs. To be honest, I didn't think he all was that great but very entertaining to watch people actually try to dance to the songs drunk. Saturday night, came really early and I saw a bunch of guys in shorts and flip flops. Eh I thought this was a bar not the beach? Any who, later in the evening, the beach bunnies left and the other crowd started arriving. The booths along the bar gives a different vibe from the crowd on the dance floor. The dance floor is teeny tiny..yes it gets hot, stuffy, and crowded but well worth it if you are drunk :D They also have a private room in the back for events. It holds up to 8 people tops. Been coming for years, they started confiscating cannabis at the door this past year and one of the employees flagrantly gave me someone else's s cannabis on the way out. I've been to The Continental Room a couple times now and I've always had a great time. It definitely has a unique vibe to it in comparison to other bars in Downtown Fullerton. The line to get in is usually quick, and the bar is pretty long, and therefore accessible to order drinks from. The bouncers here are all pretty chill, and service has never been rude. My last trip here was this past Thursday night. $5 Thursdays is what they call it. Every Thursday, their drinks are all $5! I usually get a tall can of IPA, which is not a bad deal. The music here is on point, and though I don't dance, they do have a dance floor area. They also have a back alley/patio, where I believe you can smoke if you want, but I don't smoke either. Though small and narrow, it's pretty cool to hangout there, however. If looking for a bar to check out on a Thursday night, I'd definitely recommend this place. It won't blow you away, but it's fun and unique. I haven't really been on other nights, so I can't speak to that, but Thursdays here get pretty wild and decently packed. Be careful. Our group was wrongfully double charged for the same drinks at the end of December. I was told it was handled that night, it wasn't. I have called and even visited the bar to be told it will be handled, it has not. My understanding is that new ownership took over in December, however, it doesn't excuse not giving a person their money back when the bartender made the mistake. I have been told multiple times over the phone that they "aren't trying to take my money or anything" but that doesn't seem to be the case since I still haven't gotten my refund or a call back as I was promised. The bartenders were amazing all night. But the manager MO was Rude and disrespectful, put hands on a female to get her to leave. Do not go to a show here to see a band. There's no AC it's so hot, it's disgusting. I spent $25 to melt nope never again. Not worth it. They have the room next door open now which is much bigger that's where the bands should be playing. The room next door though there's no AC in there either. We were so hot we retreated in there to cool off but were unpleasantly surprised to see there's no AC blasting in there either. We put our hand out to see if the AC was on, nope nothing. Ridiculous waste of money, I couldn't even enjoy the band I went to go see. Do not recommend! Also the floor going into the side room is all warped and uneven, definitely a trip hazard. I almost fell, not cool. No wonder why everyone left after the show. It's a bar, if you did things right people would stay after and enjoy the place, but nope everyone left as soon as the band ended and I don't blame them. By the way, we stayed to finish our drink and they ended up turning on the AC after the bands were done maybe like 15 min later which I find to be pretty ridiculous, you cant turn it on for the people that paid to see a show but you turn on the AC after for the people that are just showing up? I Love this place, mainly because my Uncle and my Father Love this place. I don't frequent it enough because I live in Irvine. I have been to the Continental Room when I can find the time to get away to meet my Uncle and Father. It's always a special time. I have had many good memories there with the two of them and at times we have brought in a third or fourth party to join us. The two of them have been going for so long they know the bartenders by name and my Father has even given them nicknames. In fact when my Uncle is there he usually will cover round for the patrons. Which never happens during the younger and busyer night crowd. JUST RECENTLY THE CONTINENTAL ROOM CHANGED BAR STOOLS. I'm hoping to get feed back even from the younger crowd. Now if you are not female and weigh no more than 106 lbs then good luck sitting on the bar stool at all !!!!!!!!!!!!! Worst mistake the interior decorator/management/owner ever made! This is not a Coke or Pepsi challenge. This is straight up discomfort at best!!!! So let's blind fold the old and young and have them sit in the "old bar stool vs the new bar stool". My dad drove a Continental and I've wanted one for years, probably will find one to restore as a midlife thing, but for now I'll enjoy the nostalgia. I like my drinks like my cars, Classic. I'm not positive, but I can't think of any other OC bars that are older than this. Something like in the 1920's and still serving drinks. Way before the area was filled with college kids looking to party in DTF. Plenty of booth's. It still has that dark, red light, smoke lounge sort of feel which is in opposition to the whole cover charge and party kids you'll sometimes find in here on the weekends or after 8pm some nights The staff used be straight up old guys behind the bar sticking to their bag of tricks, but they gradually changed seeing the area move away from that. They stay pretty true to things with dress and décor, but just the crowd has changed. Back patio is cool. having 1 TV is not, why even have one. Back to the sweet stuff and way more beers, lots of people figuring things out. It's no longer a place you'll see tons of regulars and you still have that weekend crowd. Nothing against Elvis night, but as much as I can appreciate him/his music, he has his time and place. I actually prefer coming here in the day time for a beer and chatting with the bartenders, not because I don't prefer a cocktail, but it almost takes some time to earn their trust. Downtown Fullerton is not my bag. More often than not, this area is filled with bros, drunken heels, and overly priced drinks. That's why The Continental Room has me swooning each time. Deco: 4 stars The thing about this place is it is classy. Not classy like a suit and tie restaurant, but classy like the sinfully exploitive nature you would find at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. The walls are a passionate red with booths that arrange themselves neatly across the bar. The open space is big enough to dance and the bar area itself is an oasis for those who are thirsty and in need of libations. Bartenders: 5 stars To match the class and style of the bar, the bartenders are dressed in white shirts, ties, and vests. Fashion hasn't died; it's just been residing inside this modern speakeasy. On top of that, when you ask them for drinks, they are knowledgeable and give you the type of time you would expect for paying high amounts of currency on alcohol. You don't like something? They'll fix it. Want a suggestion? They've got those too. Having both service AND knowledge, what a novel thought. Drinks: 4 stars If you are a fan of strong drinks and hard liquor, this establishment has it in spades. They make a good old fashion and tasty gin & tonic. As both drinks are on the upswing of popularity these days it's great to know such classics are still made with the details to give you an energized awakening in each sip. Are you a fan of "Laguna Beach"/ "The Hills"? Have you ever been curious to see how Kristen Callavari would look dressed as a wanna-be emo/hipster? Then look no further than The Continental Room. Another reason why I am reminded to NOT hang out in the OC. I went to The Continental Room merely because I was the "merch girl" for a regional band playing a show at the bar and NOT because I like to hang out with girls on their 21st birthdays dressed in skank emo attire (I didn't even know that was possible but lo and behold in the OC...) who spend the ENTIRE night gossiping about EVERY single guy and girl they know and "oh my gawd!!!"-ing to a Guinness World Record breaking amount. I needed all the alcohol I could get to block them out. The employees were slightly elitist and smug overlooking customers even when it was evident they were merely trying to place a drink order. There is a back room where you can smoke indoors (almost like an indoor patio) and watch the bands play on TV monitors. And one doesn't want to miss the show from the Fraggle Rock-sized stage with a curvy sushi-esque bar around it. I'm not making this stuff up. The only highlights are the retro phone booth inside the bar which makes the perfect drunk photo booth and the Frank Sinatra tunes which play in between the band and DJ sets. We came here at the suggestion of a friend. There was four of us, meeting up with a big group of friends we hadn't seen for long time so wanted a place where we can drink and dance without the "Clubbing" scene. This place was kind of dead but after 10:30 - 11 it does get pretty packed. Come early if you want a table or have a group of friends and want seating. The pros: Friendly staff Drinks are decent Prices are decent Mixture of people In walking distance to other bars/clubs The decor The cons: Gets too packed, cam barely move Music wasn't great Dance floor was way too small The booths were small and not spacious at all. This place never disappoints. This is my favorite venue in Downtown Fullerton. Drinks are always amazing, and the bartenders are all very cool. I love the vibe of this place. Bartenders are top notch, they know their drinks and how to make an impressive old fashioned. There's never a cover to get in (not sure if it's only certain nights). It is a small venue though, so be expected to wait in line on busy nights. Even then, the wait hasn't been ridiculously long. I love this place because there are no pretentious, snobby, stupid bouncers or servers here. There is a tiny stage with live DJs, and the music is always great. The dance floor is tiny though and most of the time I come here, someone always end up getting too drunk and start shoving everyone else on the dance floor. Security is pretty good about kicking those idiots out. Try and grab seats by the bar so you're not elbows to elbows with everyone else on the floor. Always a fun night! read more

This is long overdue. 7 years I've been coming to this bar and I've seen it all. I've seen the staff change, the management change, the ownership change, but one thing remains a constant: There is no bar like The Continental Room. One of a kind, truly unique, a diamond in the rough. I might be biased because of the copious amount of friendships/ acquaintanceships/ conversations/ memories/ stories/ experiences and knowledge I've acquired in this time with my favorite watering hole, but life is a series of peaks and valleys and even in the lowtimes, there has to be something said about a place you can feel comfortable at no matter what you're going through. The dynamic changes when the "weekend crowd" rolls in, but as long as you're not a douchebag or can't handle your shit, you'll feel very welcome and treated just the same as a 'regular' here. Now I think to myself, how the fuck did I survive that? You walk into this itty bitty bar, and all you see is red, no I don't mean it figuratively. The lighting is red, or some hint of magenta? Maybe it's some conspiracy to heighten beer goggle syndrome. It can get really stuffy inside, and you find that you need to exit for air frequently, but the crowd itself is generally okay. Usually north OC locals. I'm not a huge fan of this spot. I've never found myself to stay longer than about half an hour before walking over to the next bar. read more

Was at the Continental for a few last night. Good crowd, reminded me of the glory days here. An easy 5 Star Update for classy drink and pour service from bartender, Brian (one of the best)... and of course Sal & Anthony at the door(s) - always taking care of business. Love what they have done with the little "cubby" rooms in the back smoking area - the wraparound sectionals, low cocktail tables, and faux-Persian rugs add a very fresh opium den feel to the place... very cozy and back to its speakeasy roots. Don't care too much for the B&W portraits hung on the walls of the smoking area, I kind of preferred the red light bouncing off that plaster & stucco like the old days, but that's just an old school opinion. Regardless, received awesome drink service at the bar (thanks Ryan, Bryan, Casey, and of course, Weekend Bill!!!) and always great catching up with the boys. Fell a bit in love with The Continental Room last weekend. As a former CSUF Alum, I am saddened to say that I never experienced Downtown Fullerton as most college kids do. I didn't even know this place existed! Fast forward 4 years later and I find myseld back in DTF with my cousin & beau roaming around looking for a cheap, non-pretencious, laid back place to have a drink. Popped into Heroes next door but jesus was it packed beyond belief! Popped back on outside and ventured next door here where I luckily found 2 seats at the bar. The bartender was alright. She got my what I needed fast so I'm going to leave it at that. Drink prices... eh, $12 for 2 beers, not too bad. There was music playing but I didn't bother to listen, I was mixed up in my conversation. I like how the crowd wasn't ALL youngin's and loved being able to wear some jeans and a jacket and not feel out of place. I'd definitely check this place out if you're bar hopping in the area. Great place for starter drinks or at the end of your night. Also, there is a newly built parking stucture across the street.... no fee @ night, score! Happy drinking! read more

The place is good. They play great music (depending on the DJ) It's a little small to dance because it gets crowded but you can manage. It's definitely a good place to lounge. The best part, the parking structure is just across the street. Be careful going back to your car (stupid) wackos driving off like "Fast & the Furious" There's plenty of lighting in the parking structure & if you park in the right place you get a view of the train tracks. Came here at 11:30pm on a Friday night. There was a line to get in. The bouncer was not letting people in until people leave The Continental Room. People were cutting in line. There wasn't anyone controlling the lines. Also, there were people who apparently knew the promoter and they got to go in without waiting, which makes the wait even longer since only a few people come out once in a while!!! There's was NO cover charge when I went in. The place is pretty small. They have red lights on the dance floor. The dance floor is small and people are squeezing in. The workers watching the walkway are telling people who are not within the dance floor lines to move out, so you can see why it's super squishy and difficult to dance. There's no dress code to get in, ladies don't have to wear heels. I see people dress up and people who are in their casual clothes. Parking can be hard to find if you get to DTF (Downtown Fullerton) later at night, esp Friday or Saturday. Parking is free. There's parking in the building, on the streets, or at the parking lots. Another great stop on the bar hopping train in downtown Fullerton. We were able to get in with absolutely no cover. It was semi early when we showed up around 10. There wasn't any tables available but there were several open bar stools and sitting by the bar meant extra fast drink service. :) I asked the bartender what he would recommend and he offered the rasberry lemon drop. It was so incredibly good. I had two and was definitely feeling good after them. The drinks were normal price for beers and martinis, not too expensive but not cheap either. Lighting was extremely dim, and the place got really crowded around 11. The music changed from jazzy stuff, to hip hop, to other stuff I didn't recognize. Pretty cool spot, thats right next to Heroes. Parking is a little scarce, but once you do find a spot and walk in, your golden. Its located off the main strip in downtown Fullerton, but in an excellent spot to go bar hopping, since theres like 5 joints all in the area. Dress code is casual. Crowd is mixed. Age group...mid 20's to late 30's... We got there at 11am, and the place wasnt too packed. By 12am, it was pretty packed. The spot isnt that big, but they do have a dance floor, lounge seating (u need to reserve) and a smoking patio in the back. DJ was playing a little of everything. Drinks were really cheap, or i think it was that our bartender mixed up my tab with someone else's. Oh well, i aint complaining. All in all, good times.. Oh, and the decor was pretty cool. The bartenders reminded me of the those old school bartenders in there attire. Think red as the theme here. read more
