Food always amazing and the service is the best!! Highly recommend this place for fine dinning!

I mean, what a hidden gem in the mountains of western NC! I would never guess that there was such a fine dining experience in Hayesville NC. I have been told about this place for years . From my Dr friends who drive 1-2 hours to eat here. I live close. I do not know why it took me so long to visit! It is fine dining. So not cheap. But well worth it for special occasions! The have a fixed price menu. But there are upgrades available. My wife had the snapper. It was good. I had the filet with a lobster cream sauce on the side. It was to die for! I kept having to give her bites of mine! Huge chunks of lobster in a amazing rich sauce went perfect with the expertly cooked filet! And all of the appetizers and sides were amazing too. And you get a bunch of food! I can eat and I left very full!! The desserts were great! Spring for the Bananas Fosters. Its worth the show! This was a great fine dining experience in the mountains. I cannot wait to come again. This is defiantly our new spot for special occasions! read more

This place is pretty interesting. Certainly unique in the middle of Huntsville. They have a great wine selection and I really loved their desert and lamb dish. My main critique would be the portion sizes on the fixed menu. I had a scallop appetizer but coming from South Florida, I didn't expect just one! Last thing would be the "cesar" salad. It was very different than my simple idea of a Cesar salad, which, is what I prefer. But these are just personal notes. My wife and I enjoyed our 8th Anniversary dinner at the Copper Door. It is oddly out of place to have such a high-end restaurant experience out here in the Mountains. The service and food was top shelf. Chef Dennis did the honors of serving the perfectly cooked steak. The ambiance was cordial. the layout is such that each table or booth has ample space where you do not feel crowded and the noise level was such that you could hear each others dinner conversation. We loved this place so much that we went twice during our vacation. We heard from a couple of people that it was hard to get a reservation, so we went very early and accommodated what was available. The restaurant is very nice. Great ambiance. Loved the fireplace. The wine menu is amazing. We had lobster bisque, it was creamy with lots of lobster chunks. Our entre was filet mignon, mashed potatoes and snow peas. The steak was cooked to perfection. Tender, perfectly seasoned. Every bite was delightful. The chef special made the snow peas for me because of a food allergy I have. That meant a lot to me. We had bread pudding on our first visit. It was delicious. The walnuts added a special crunch, and the bourbon made it over the top. On our second visit, we had flourless chocolate cake with Vainilla ice cream and raspberry sauce. It was rich, not sweet, it melted in your mouth. Every person that works in the restaurant is nice, cordial, and professional. The most delicious, consistent 5-star restaurant! We came in tonight & tried a bit of everything- we always start with the Pork Belly appetizer (so delicious)! Tonight's special was Spotted Snapper served with homemade fettuccine with creamy pesto w/roasted carrots & asparagus! It was cooked perfectly, just can't say enough! My husband ordered the pork chop w/roasted red potatoes & veggies - the enormous pork chop was so tender you could slice with a butter knife! Although the Creme Suzanne is our favorite dessert we also tried the special Croquembouche - tiny little eclairs with chocolate & Carmel sauce - the tastiest & most beautiful presentation! We celebrated here as word of mouth said it was the best fine dining in the area. Be prepared-It was $200 without any alcoholic drinks ($65 per person and an upcharge for two menu items. Also, 20% tip is automatically added to the bill.) In each of the four courses we had: pork belly and seafood crepe, creole caesar salad and a panzanella tomato salad (both very heavy on red pepper), 8oz beef filet and swordfish, berries sabayon and bananas foster. The food was good, particularly the desserts. The sides that came with the entire were quite bland and uninteresting considering the price point (popover bread roll, very plain roasted potatoes and snow peas). The banana foster was prepared beautifully tableside by our waiter who was cordial. (Although, I did feel he should have checked on us between courses as I did have to wait quite a while to request salt for my steak -ended up asking another waiter). My biggest "beef" is that the choices were very limited. The entrees: swordfish, pork tenderloin, duck (leg and thigh). No beef or chicken options, nothing unique or extravagant. I don't eat seafood, pork tenderloin is not gourmet- I make it at hone. And the duck was dark meat glazed with a sweet sauce- not appetizing to me. So I paid an extra $15 for a steak ($80). It was good, but not $80 good! Texas Roadhouse and Outback have one just as good for $25 and theirs are seasoned (this was not). No soup course, no palate cleanser. Also, aside from the filet, which was 8oz, the portions were very small. The pork belly for example was the size of my index finger and the berry dessert fit in half a martini glass. Would we dine here again? No. Given there are NO fine dining choices in that area of N GA, I understand the draw. read more

First we had the pork belly, do not go there and skip this it's that good. We ordered the 30oz 60 day aged steak, chef came to table and sliced it was very good. We also ordered the black cod, another fabulous meal. I loved that everything wasn't over seasoned or over salted. The mashed potatoes were also really good, better than grandmas! Dessert was also unbelievably good. We had bread pudding and it was amazing. Although, two others party arrived after us. They were seated first. One party of two. The other party of six. We were a party of three with reservation for 8pm. Full 20 minutes later we were finally seated. The hostess apologies for the delay. The WAITRESS. Size me up within seconds of our first encountered. Her demeanor was very unprofessional and uncomfortable. Which was obvious when she arrives minutes later with the darkest dinner rolls. She can find. My daughter ordered a pasta entrées. My son's girlfriend ordered chicken entrées. Since, its only one salmon left. According to the WAITRESS. I ordered seared tuna, wedge salad, house soup and escargot. Both ladies entrées seems good. The tuna was fully cooked. YUCK!! Seared? My house soup, taste very similar to Campbell's NEW ENGLAND soup. Nothing over the top! When I asked her for dessert meun. The WAITRESS told me, "I will rather tell you, because I don't feel like grabbing one." NOTICE this is a direct quote from our WAITRESS. The main reason why we chosen this restaurant over the others. For the BANANA FOSTER'S desserts experience . Since, the pictures seems tasty. When she finally returned. 15 minutes later. After her "Oscar Worthy performance" of BEST WAITRESS of 2015. We were referred here and did not regret it. It was worth the short drive from Blairsville. We got here a few minutes before our reservation. We had great drinks from the bar. I had the oyster shooters to start. They are delicious. Then went to the mushroom bisque. This was fantastic. Fresh, smooth, and highly recommended. Do try escargot. It's not a strong flavor, sauce is the dominating part. They're soft and tender. Don't get the seafood chowder unless you really love chowder. It's bisque with a few potatoes and clams and pretty Sandy. Do try the lamb. Enough for 2! Don't get bananas foster.. not the best but a nice experience.
