Amazing dinner!! Our server ( didn't give her name) we'll call her Madam X did a wonderful job explaining the courses and food selection. She was very pleasant. The Copper Door was a gift from our son. We had reservations for 5:00pm and they did not even open the doors until after 5:00. We had the 4 course meal at $75 per person. One bad experience doesn't mean a trend; however, our recent experience was troubling considering the many excellent dinners we've had in the past. Firstly, the SERVICE was excellent. The drinks were very good and salad/soups were wonderful. Our entries, however, were uneatable. Three of us ordered the veal meatloaf. It didn't look very appealing and it was over seasoned: it tasted like pepper or red pepper flakes were dumped into the meat. We each put the meatloaf into to-go bags, but threw the bags away. And oh, let me tell you about the gourmet dinner - meat cooked to perfection with a savory New Orleans twist. Thank you Chef!!! The bread pudding - to die for!! The mushroom soup - best ever! I live in Atlanta and Copper Door has been my favorite restaurant for years, pre-covid. I would go out of my way to dine there. A recent visit was quite disappointing. The prix fixe menu is painfully limited, and the quality is not the same. The portions are smaller and lacking in their previously delicious offerings. Our server was stuffy, and insisted on a detailed, lenghty expalination of each and every menu item, although we had plainly stated what we would like to order up front! Boring and a complete waste of time we could have been enjoying our wine; and we were hungry! The most disturbing incident, since we could see directly into the kitchen from our table, the chef wiped his face with the same cloth he had wiped the counter, then wiped the counter again. Repeat. Unpleasant does not bein to describe this. Copper Door is no longer my favorite restaurant. read more

We decided to give this place a try based on Yelp reviews while staying at a hotel close by. This lives up to the positive reviews. The price is consistent with the quality and presentation of the food as expected in a restaurant of this caliber. It appears it is a popular place with regulars in the area who like fine dining, which I believe tends to be a good indication for finding a great meal. This also means that you want to have reservation prior to showing up or you may need to wait a while; and there is very limited space to do that here. My wife and I both started with the small spinach salad. Very fresh and very tasty. For my main dish, I chose the "Fruits de mer." I knew this was a possible crap-shoot ordering fresh seafood in the mountains of NC, but Copper Door did not disappoint. This is a soup-type dish with scallops, salmon, mussels, shrimp and linguine in a fantastic broth. My wife decided on the Shrimp Pasta JP and I think she made the better choice. Again, mine was wonderful but her dish had a flavor that we both really enjoyed. Looking around at other patrons, I didn't see anything that didn't appear to be carefully and professionally prepared and presented. I doubt there is anything on the menu that is below par here. The atmosphere is perfect for a nice relaxed meal. Service was excellent and we never felt rushed. This will be on our list of placed to return if we venture back into Hayesville sometime in the future. read more

4 for dinner? Yes, please! We arrived 15 minutes early, were greeted so cheerfully and told we would be seated promptly at our reservation time. We walked into the bar and had a drink. The bartender Brittany was super. She made great drinks right away. She was very friendly and engaging while perfectly professional. Fast forward 15 minutes and there is the hostess ready to show us to our table to be seated exactly at our reservation time. Really impressive. We spent about two hours talking, having wine, eating our appetizers and our entrées. The service we received from Mark thru out that time was stellar! Best service I've had anywhere in a long time. His timing and sense of when to approach the table was so good I was jokingly calling him "Genie". Our food choices last nite were oyster shooters that were so fresh they made you question how far you were from the coast, the signature mushroom soup, yum, and lamb short ribs. Delicious. For entrées we had the grouper (1 bronzed and 1 blackened), the filet mignon, and New York strip. No complaints about anything from anyone! Great drinks, great food.
