I got an invite to my bro in love holiday outing with his friends. They had it at their go to spot that has been on my list for an awhile, so I was excited. We got there around 12:30 and had no issues parking right in front of the door. The parking lot is pretty big which is a plus. When we walked in, they were expecting us and greeted us warmly. Our server brought us water out immediately and took our drink orders while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. The server brought all of our food out in a timely fashion and checked on us based on my opinion a decent amount of times. Service was pretty good. The food however was juts okay. It was not bad but I certainly was not blown away. All in all, I would go back but there are better tasting brunches in the city. read more

We went on a busy Friday evening and had a wonderful experience at Copper Shark! I love the overall vibe and layout of the restaurant. It's tasteful without trying too hard, and the bar area taking up the first room ensures that the dining area feels more comfortable and intimate. We had a rough start, with a confused host and waiting for our table for 20 minutes despite having a reservation. However, we didn't mind waiting and got a drink at the bar (this is something to consider though if you're on a time crunch). The stellar service at our table more than made up for the rocky start. We were seated in a cozy back room that was quiet so we could enjoy our conversation. The food was fantastic! We had the ahi tuna poke, NY strip with mashed potatoes and asparagus, duck breast with farro, and bread pudding for dessert. Everything was tasty, perfectly portioned and well seasoned! The stars of the show were the steak and bread pudding. Just delicious! The parking out front is a great bonus. Cannot rate high enough!! My GF and I have been coming here for 3 years for Valentines day. One night I made a simple online reservation, and mentioned it was our anniversary... they pulled out ALL the stops. We had a private table, with a sign wishing us happy anniversary. There were discounted whiskey flights, comped dessert, the whole 9 yards, and they did not have to do ANY of that. On all other occasions, the constantly changing menu is always good. Went for happy hour on a Wednesday around 4:30 pm and got a seat at a high top in the bar area. Service was great and all the food and cocktails we got were superb. I had the happy hour Spiced Pear Mule and my partner had the happy hour G&T, both very good. Impressed, we each got cocktails off the regular menu - I got the spiced cranberry collins which continued the trend of very good cocktails. My partner got the Witcher and found it to be a little too one note, good but not as impressive as the others. We split some happy hour apps - the menu online is different than the one in house by the way - including Nduja and something-cheesy Croquettes (since the menu is different, I'm going off of memory here...), Whipped Ricotta, and the Curried Cauliflower. All very, very good. Would order all of them again, in particular the croquettes and the ricotta. Will definitely be back, although likely for happy hour again given the reasonable prices compared to their regular dining price points which would be more a splurge than usual. read more

Met a girlfriend here for brunch the other weekend and this spot did not disappoint! First, I love the ambiance of the place. From the moment you walk in, it's modern and gives off a very relaxed vibe! We had reservations so we were seated right away which was nice! Our waiter was impeccable. We ordered a carafe of mimosas, and while they weren't the best ever, I procured a nice buzz after drinking 2.5. That said, I got a pretty basic meal of eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, and sourdough toast, AKA The Shark. The eggs were fine, and the bacon was fine. The home fries were actually excellent. The sausage didn't look cooked enough, but I tried it and found it had some weird kinda sweet taste to it. I didn't go past that first bite. And the bread...well, seems like it had cinnamon on it (tho the waiter assured me it didn't). This was when I was just eating it with butter. I tried the accompanying jam, which definitely drowned out the cinnamon taste, but I'm not a jam on toast person, especially not sourdough. I don't understand how one can mess up something as simple as sausage and toast...just go get some Jimmy Dean sausage and sourdough bread from the grocery store, bing bong. My companion wasn't thrilled with her meal either. Maybe I'll try Copper Shark again, but if they don't have the classics down, I'm concerned more complicated meals will be awful. read more

The Copper Shark has been on my list since it first opened because of its ever-changing seasonal menu options. I came on Father's Day around 3:30. The space was warm and inviting and so was the staff. I didn't realize that they only serve their brunch menu all day Sunday. This was kind of a bummer, mostly because I'd already eaten breakfast. We were also able to order from the bar menu. Although I was excited to try their regular dinner menu, I was still satisfied with what we ordered. Everything was fresh and had good flavor. My absolute favorite dish was the Curried Cauliflower. All 4 of us loved it. I also appreciated that the appetizers were actually enough to share with the group of 4. Another Arrival Day in the books, and this one was a treat. The Copper Shark is the absolute pinnacle of casual fine dining, if that's a thing. We begin with the decor. After a warm greeting, you glide through a wood-grain lover's dream. Feels old-timey yet ultra-modern all at once. The menu also reflects this past-meets-present marriage, as demonstrated by their spaghetti and meatballs, but with squid ink pasta and meatballs of duck & foie gras. Real nice variety overall, with seafood, pasta, poultry, and various vegan options forming the foundation, while their prime cut steaks stand high on the pedestal, ready to star in the main event. Even among stars, there is one that stands out, the crème de la crème, the pièce de résistance - none other than the 32 oz. tomahawk steak, served with truffle mac and cheese, pommes raifort, asparagus, spring mushrooms, marrow butter. If you have a spare $130 laying around, this meal designed for two (but doable by one, if one possesses the requisite mental and physical fortitude) will surely take its place on the Mt. Rushmore of your best dining experiences ever. During this dinner, boy did I splurge. I mean, shoot, my appetizer was a plate of lobster linguini. That was super filling and I started panicking, thinking I wouldn't have enough room for my Pan Roasted Organic Chicken. But hey, that's why I chose it - I knew it wouldn't be too filling. The beets, mushrooms, farro risotto and truffle vinaigrette all formed a perfect marriage. I don't think I ever had truffle anything my whole life up until a few months ago. But yeah, I would describe it as ... super concentrated mushroom flavor? As a mushroom fan, I ate it up. And finally, how could I not mention the Strawberry Rhubarb Profiterole. Prior to this evening, I had not heard of profiterole, much less enjoyed its sweet flaky delicate crust. But the waitress sold us and even promised that whoever delivered the profiterole would be topping it off with warm ganache at the table. A live performance for the ages. Well, the ganache never came, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. RIP ganache 2023-2023. Our server was a cherry gal with a bubbly outlook. It was nice dining early, as the dinner rush was not yet in full swing. This gave us more time to make small talk with her and ease her into what I can only imagine was about to be a stressful night. Omelette was pretty good and the old bay hollandaise sauce was a nice touch. I must say that this was a bit short of colossal. There was definitely crab meat in the omelette but not as much as I think there should be if you have the word colossal as part of the title. The staff was super friendly and took great care of us. Parking was alright, it's a big shared lot and there were plenty of spots further away from the restaurant. Great presentation for the food and drinks! The truffle Mac and cheese was HUGE. Taste wise it left a little more to be desired as there was minimal sauce. It wasn't creamy, cheesy, or truffle-y enough for the amount of macaroni in there but the value was fantastic. The pork shank was great. I wish it was seasoned more but other than that, marvelous. Texture was great and potatoes underneath were nice and chunky. My wife and I just had the best night at copper shark. We started at the bar for happy hour. Happy hr drinks are great! Their beer list is very good. I had a "lunch" from Maine Beer Co, as well as a "fancy pants" from the local checkerspot. My wife was in the mood for a mocktail, and while they didn't have any on the menu, our bartender whipped one up and its was tasty! In addition to the drinks we got "ploughman's son" charcuterie board. Very tasty, wide variety of options, would definitely get again. After happy hour we moved to a table to order dinner. We were a bit disappointed to learn that we could not get burgers (had heard they are very good), but after talking to our server, we decided to order a selections of apps to share. We got an order of the bread (good but a bit dry), the Brussels sprouts (good but too greasy), the duck bolognese (so so so so good), and the polenta main (also tasty). My cousin and I decided on Copper Shark for a late holiday lunch on a Friday afternoon. We made reservations. Upon arrival, I was seated right away. It's a beautiful restaurant with a beautiful bar area. The main seating area is also very nice. Alexis was our server and she was great! Her suggestions were spot on. I ordered the spiced pear mule, it was so good, refreshing and full of flavor. My cousin wanted a bourbon mule, although not on the cocktail menu, they were able to make it with no issues. For appetizers, I had the crap soup and she had the grilled octopus. Both good and plentiful for appetizers. For our entrees, my cousin had the Steak Frites, very well seasoned and cooked to order, it came with asparagus and hand cut fries. I had the Oyster Po'Boy which came with fries or a side salad, I chose fries. Both my fries and oysters were fried too hard and long, but the flavor was still there. Truly a hidden gem! I'm so glad I finally checked this off of my dining list. It's located in the Merritt Gym parking lot off of E. Fort Ave and has outdoor seating for beautiful, sunny days. I got the beef carpaccio and the charred octopus appetizers. Both dishes could be meals on their own. The portion sizes are excellent and are each served on a bed of tossed arugula. The flavors are delightful. The customer service is great. The food comes out quickly, which doesn't compromise the quality of the food. A recent girls night out led my friend and I to Copper Shark. We had high hopes having heard such great things from a few coworkers and for the most part it lived up to the hype. The good: The place is really cute, comfy, and inviting. We were seated timely with reservations and the service was excellent. The great: The 8oz Petite Filet!!! Hands down one of the best steaks I've had in a while. It was perfectly cooked mid rare, so tender, and full of flavor. Our apps ranged from good (Charcuterie board) to great (loved the Crispy fried Buratta!). Last but not least, the drinks we nice and strong! The not so great: The menu varies seasonally (per our server) which is conceptually exciting but a little disappointing for us as an item or two we were looking forward to trying were no longer available. Lastly,the dessert menu left a lot to be desired. Nothing sounded overly interesting and what we ended up picking (I honestly can't recall the name) was pretty bad. It was an odd ice cream sandwich of sorts (dry puff pastry with a scoop of ice cream in the middle and chocolate syrup drizzled on top.) it didn't stand up to the greatness in our entrees and apps. Copper Shark came up under "Hot and New Restaurants' on my Yelp Explore page so I gave it a shot. I made dinner reservations via Open Table for a Saturday evening at 7pm. No issues, no wait upon arrival. It's a nice set up inside, but didn't feel very date - like, but It's brightly lit and kind of busy, expected on a Saturday evening. The music wasn't loud but loud enough where you had no issues making out what was playing. Very random music selection. Bob Marley "Is this Love" to Britney Spears, to the Jonas Brothers. We started with Hendrick's Gin Martinis with Blue Cheese Olives. No Vermouth, just a little dirty. They came out a little dirtier than we liked and no where near filled to the rim like I'm used to. Our waitress noticed our faces when he set them down and said, "I know, the glass isn't full, but we have rather large Martini glasses, and the bartender makes the drinks according to the correct measurements". Cool! No worries. We skipped to red wine for the rest of the evening. For dinner we shared the Crispy Fried Burrata, served with baby arugula salad, nduja vinaigrette, crispy prosciutto, and pesto. Fan favorite! I had the Pan Seared Halibut, served with butternut squash puree, chanterelle mushroom, spinach, honeynut squash. My friend ordered the 22oz Ribeye, served with pommes raifort, baby vegetables, sauce perigourdine. Loved it! We tried the Milk Chocolate Pot du Crème, swerved with chocolate ganache, salted caramel, hazelnut biscotti, chantilly cream. We both took one bite and sent it back. It was extremely dry and didn't taste like much but dough and chocolate. The wine was a cabernet recommended by our server, can't remember the name but paired perfectly with the Ribeye. The Cooper Shark is cool but didn't do it for me as a date night spot, wasn't cool enough for a lady's night out either. Family friendly for sure. Solid 4 stars for me. Copper Shark is a beautiful restaurant that has really revitalized the space and created a fun menu, with some classics and a few surprises. Overall the food and drinks ranged from ok to good, but the price point just doesn't match the quantity and quality of food in comparison to other nice restaurants in the city. Nothing incredible and nothing terrible. They were out of the pork belly appetizer but we got the fried burrata and bone marrow. Burrata alone is incredible, it is probably just one of those foods that doesn't need to be fried, a bit disappointed in it. By being fried, it looses the soft creamy center. Bone marrow was good, I would've preferred a baguette bread over simple toast. For entrees we got the duck, the lamb, and the scallops. While I enjoyed the scallops it was $37 for 3 scallops and a dollop of sweet potato. Sorry but no. That's over $10 a scallop, they could've at least had 4. And it came with a sprinkling of Brussels sprouts. At almost $40, they should give a whole side... The lamb and duck were also both good but fine, and their price points were the same - just under $40. I thought the duck was gamey personally but I just don't think I like duck! No one had any leftovers, which is fine. We also got cocktails and wine. Cocktails were good and seasonal, I'd return for those. Our server was also a nice guy and very attentive but didn't seem to have great manners as a server - he did not know much about the menu other than the steak (which none of us ordered). We probably won't return for a while due to the price and quantity of food, but maybe will try happy hour. I think Copper Shark is worth a try, but they have some kinks to work out! read more

Love a place with a parking lot so let's start there. Ample shared parking with a gym so we had no issues. We grabbed a couple seats at the bar around 5-ish just in time for HH that ends at 7pm (ends at 10pm on Mondays). It was pretty full but not too crowded. The dining area started to fill as we were leaving but nobody seemed to wait too long for a table. It had a warm nice vibe and even nicer bartenders. I got the Spiced Pineapple Daquiri which was delicious. We split a warm bread order which was tasty. For our entrees, my friend got the Pan Seared Diver Scallops which came with crispy pork belly pieces. It looked divine and there wasn't much left so it was definitely a winner. I had the Crispy Brussel Sprouts as an entree which were delicious. Writing this makes me want more. I'll be back soon to try more. read more
