This review is for the morning coffee cafe that shares space with the corner bistro, I believe the coffee shop is open 7am-1pm. We have not tried the lunch/ dinner at corner bistro yet but the lattes and food offered in the morning is spectacular. We had the orange cranberry oat bar then the bacon quiche and both were as good as I've tasted anywhere. If I could rate this restaurant 10 stars, I would do so. This is truly a hidden gem not only in Northern Michigan but all of Michigan. This is easily one of the top 5 restaurants in all of Michigan. It starts with the menu that was full of delightful small plates such as the special of the day, Caviar, Hanger Steak, stacked Shrimp, Fois Gras, Crème Brule and the best French Onion soup. One of the best places I've been to. Usually I go places and there's only a couple things that catch my eye on the menu, however almost everything on their menu made my mouth water. Staff and food were wonderful! Owner, Maggie, was extremely off-putting. My husband and I entered through the (non-main entrance) not knowing as it was our first time here and sat at a table outside. We were immediately approached by the owner, Maggie, saying they take reservations so we need to follow the signs instructing you to check in with the host inside. We explained we had not seen any sign stating this and apologized. She said she would check if they had availability. (OK...THIS WAS A WEDNESDAY AT 4:30PM) All of the tables were empty outside except 1! SERIOUSLY! A gem of a place in downtown Bellaire! We tried two kinds of bruschetta, fried Brussel sprouts and an order of chicken strips with fries. The bread for the bruschetta was a soft egg bread that was buttered and grilled which I really enjoyed instead of the usual hard banquette style bread. One star for "responsiveness." Trying to make a reservation; sent a text as instructed to do. A response came back hours later stating they don't take reservations for lunch (nowhere is that mentioned on their website, BTW) and to let them know if we want a dinner time reservation. After checking with our friends, I texted back asking for a dinner reservation. It's been hours again, and no response yet. You can't reach anyone on the phone, either: "mailbox full." Had the family there on the patio- good solid drinks and food was great- had the crab cake and shrimp sliders that were great, the flat bread with figs and goat cheese and the French onion soup were all good. This place serves small plates for dinner so portions are small but they are delicious. Service was great and they have some nice outdoor seating. Prices were a bit high but quality of food was worth it. We got the Brussels sprouts (enough to share), tenderloins, and duck. Listen to your server as far as portion sizes and you'll definitely enjoy. read more

This new restaurant in Bellaire doesn't disappoint! The food (primarily small plates / tapas) is excellent. Start off with the Brussels Sprouts or the Truffle Fries - yum! We had a variety of dishes: seared tuna, risotto shrimp stacker, yellowfin tuna sliders, herb mushroom arancini. Each dish was delicious. A well-stocked bar with good selection of creative cocktails. I highly recommend the French Martini or the Bistro Spritzer (it's NA, but also lovely with added vodka or rum). Great service from a very attentive & personable staff. The atmosphere is chic but cozy. Seating is limited, so there's sometimes a wait - but worth it. read more

Stopped for dinner, was asked if we had a reservation, we didn't as we had just arrived in town. Requested an indoor seat as it was very warm and humid outside. Hostess said we could sit outside as nothing was available indoors. I said thanks but we would head down the the street to the brewery. The hosted huffed at my answer and said "we'll alrighty then". Yeah, it was alright, we were greeted & seated immediately "indoors" at Shorts Brewing, and had a great meal and some excellent beer. read more

While vacationing at Shanty Creek we stopped in this little gem, the people we're friendly and the food was delicious. It was so good we went back another night. The sizes of the plates are smaller but they encourage sharing. Definitely a quaint little bistro in the little town of Bellaire. Highly recommend. read more

So happy to come across this cute bistro on the 4th of July weekend! Their fries are unique being thin steak fries with the skins on them. Its great to find style and grace in random and hidden places. This fits the bill on both counts a delicious set of items on the menu and belare is quite off the beaten path. We had several of the items paired with outrageously good truffle fries and found each executed with thoughtfulness and attention to flavor profiles.
