We had breakfast here two days, one day ordered to go and one day we walked over from our resort. The location is fantastic and it's really cute to eat inside. The girl at the register (it was the same one both days) is very nice, helpful and hard working. She also makes great coffees. The food is pretty good, we got the omelette and egg plate when we sat down to eat and both were great. The kids one egg special is a really generous serving and the hash browns are delicious. They have some board games to play while waiting. Only note is that their breakfast sandwich uses way too much cheese and the type of cheese we didn't like (American). The sandwich would have been great just with no cheese. We will definitely be back if we stay in Cambria again! read more

Let me start with the positive. The food was quite good and tasty here, portions were nice for what you pay for, and were pleasing to the eye. I ordered for my family of four online and it was relatively easy. The place has a nice cowboy country feel to it. They sell some cute merch. Went to go pick up the food and that's when we run into problems. They gave me my bag of food and of course I check to see if all of my items were there. I ordered: avocado toast and paid extra for an over easy egg, the 3 egg omelette which came with hash browns and toast, the granola with berries/fruit, breakfast sandwich that came with hash browns, a coffee, apple juice, and the moonstone lavender latte. Well, first off she hands me the coffee. I said ok, where's my moonstone latte? She says, oh you want a moonstone latte? I said, I ordered one. Again, everything's printed out and was self explanatory on the receipt since I ordered it online. She proceeds to make my latte. Then they forgot the over easy egg I paid extra for. She said, it should be in a separate box in the bag. Nope, not in the bag. She says sorry and it'll be right up. Then the cook/chef comes out and questions and confirms with the waitress/hostess that I indeed ordered and paid for the extra egg. After waiting for our food, we were on our way. Total bill was about $90. I dunno, maybe cause it was a Monday? No attention to detail? The place is only open from 7am-12pm. Food was good, but will not come back here again. The best part of this restaurant is the location and the food. Upon entry we were told to grab menus and find a seat and apparently we missed the part where we suppose to go back inside to order our food. We ordered our food then a server brings it to your table. It's a cross between fast food and sit down but unless you've actually been here before you don't really know that. Do I grab my own silverware? Yes! Do I get my own water? Yes! When the server delivered the food she asked if we needed anything and I asked for salsa-she started to send me inside to get it myself, but then suggested she'd grab it for me. Now that I got the very confusing part out of the way- let's get to the food. Delicious!!! My husband had the breakfast tostada and although the shell was a premade shell- all the ingredients were fresh, quality ingredients. I ordered the Cow Tioper Classic and it was fantastic. The bacon was cooked very crispy and had a great flavor. I would come back here for the food. Went to have breakfast here this morning. We had never been here. Great street sign and nice size dining space. We entered they said we can chose wear to sit and to grab a menu and return to the counter to order. We did so and the hostess was very nice. They took everything down, gave us a number to place on our table. The food didn't take long. The steel cut oatmeal was served with fresh blueberries a side of brown sugar. The burrito had fresh salsa on the side. Wow that burrito was delicious as was the oatmeal and the salsa super tasty. We were really pleased, so it's a good place to grab a bite. Cute charming property upon arrival. Dingy bathrooms, dirty common areas and HORRIBLE manager made for a 1 star review and would never return. Booked two night stay and husband and special needs son got sick overnight. Obviously needed to head out first thing in the morning. After explaining our situation, the manager was unkind, matter of fact and only willing to refund 50% of our stay. I have never encountered a hotel unwilling to allow an early checkout due to illness or unforeseen circumstances. The gal at check-in was wonderful as well as the lady who booked our reservation over the phone. The young guy at checkout was also kind and apologetic. This is purely an issue of a terrible manager who doesn't understand the importance of customer service. Plenty of other cute motels in the area. Find something cleaner and better ran. read more

In our first weekend, the app from affiliated hotels did not work. We walked to the restaurant, where there is inside and outside dining. One has to order at the counter. Then they bring it to the table. Due to bad food reviews, I stayed cautious and had a fine basic breakfast. When we were back in town 3 weeks later, we were able to get breakfast delivered. Do yourself a favor and go down the street to Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill Long Version: My wife and I came here for breakfast this morning (1-28-24) and upon first entering we were getting vibes that this was going to be an interesting experience. There was a podium in the front implying a host, but also an ordering counter further in the restaurant. After awkwardly standing by the podium for a bit as staff walked by us we deciced to go to the counter. Other patrons were weirdly standing around in the main room waiting for god knows what. The menu is simple which I generally like, but makes no mention of which items are available for the time of day you are visiting (i.e. lunch and breakfast). If you go at an interim time I'd suggest having a breakfast and lunch option picked out, because no one knows when they change it. The woman taking the orders did the bare minimum of her job and had to swap out coffee dispensers which somehow took several minutes while other customers gathered around me muttering to eachother how long things were taking. We get our number and start looking for a table. There were MANY empty tables that had not been cleared. There were maybe 8 tables outside, about half of them were being used and the remaining half were uncleared. We wanted to sit outside so we sat at an uncleared table. No joke, it took them 30 minutes to clear the table. Around that time one of the tables next to us get their food and ask for silverware. The server (same woman that took our order) told them to get it from inside. Around minute 40 we finally get our food. Our server was much more friendly and offered to bring us our silverware. The food was decent, and the only reason this place gets 2 stars instead of 1. Not great mind you, but I was happy with it. It's entirely possible this was just a perfect storm of a bad day for The Cow Tipper. Maybe multiple people called in sick, but overall it was a shockingly bad experience. If management is reading this and it was a bad day you need to acknowledge it and try to do something to make it right, at the very least throw out an apology. read more

We stumbled into this place after passing a couple restaurants down the road that had long lines. The service was friendly and helpful and explained the menu. We started with the Wagyu Chili and the Root Beer Ribs. Both were fanatic. The Chili had a little heat but great flavor. The Ribs were falling off the bone and then directly into my mouth. But the Flat Iron Steak Sandwich was crazy good. The ciabatta bread was flat and did not overwhelm the steak. The blue cheese, tomato and greens were a nice accompaniment to the steak. We ordered the Daybreak Sammie, Cow Tipper Breakfast (potatoes, eggs, bacon, and toast), and pancakes. I ordered the Daybreak Sammie and absolutely loved the runny egg paired with bacon, arugula and pesto sauce! It was a unique and great breakfast sandwich. I ate a few pieces of my son's breakfast potatoes and oh my gosh...an absolute must order as they are lightly seasoned with what I assume is a chorizo. Potatoes were cooked to perfection! This is definitely a hidden gem not too busy not too secluded but at least we didn't wait an hour like many places down the street. This was so worth it and I even wanted to order food to go that's how good it was. We instead decided we'd just come back again since they also serve breakfast. Really though hats off to the chef this place is an easy recommendation for anywhere near Cambria/San Simeon. We ordered the shrimp pasta with mushrooms and it was super flavorful we couldn't stop eating it I almost didn't end up taking a picture. The pork belly wasn't as crispy as I'd like, so be sure to order it well done if you like but the flavors were on point. The food here is fine, but it's clear that their goal is to cut costs wherever they can and over charge wherever they can. $6 for a $0.50 Kellogg's ToGo cereal box; $17 to open a can of beans and put an egg on it. All the while you bus your own table, clean the last persons table because they didn't know that the 20% tip that they want didn't cover service and deal with the group that grabbed your table while you went up to order. This was a really strange experience. On 9/12/24, we were staying at the Pelican Inn where we were given the choice to order breakfast from the Cow Tipper to be delivered directly to our room. Sounds like a nice benefit to a vacation doesn't it? Except when we tried to order, the app kept telling us the items aren't available and then deleting everything. So we went for late lunch on Sunday Memorial Day weekend. They had special hours for Backyard style BBQ for the holiday. The Santa Maria Tritip was very tasty. It was served with beans and potato salad. The entire dish was flavorful. The staff was very attentive and upbeat. Lots of smiles. Picnic bench style tables outside were very clean and nice. WoW, WoW, WOW! I had the skirt steak, medium. It was AMAZING! Cilantro on top, I am here for it. The steak sat on top of a bed of fresh green beans and mashed potatoes with bacon. It was the most delicious and tender steak. The lady at an adjacent table had the Root Beer Ribs and raved about them! This is a very casual spot. You order at the counter and they deliver it to your table. The chef came out to speak with everyone and ask how their meal was. Service was great! Portion sizes were small for the price; I would have appreciated at least nuts added to the oats to make up for the small size but full price They also serve Starbucks coffee and tea. They have the tea bags out for you to pick. Since I am normally given two bags of tea when I order Starbucks, I selected two but was told I could only get one which resulted in a weak cup of tea.
