The location, food, and ambiance are all great. They have live music and discounted chicken wing days. The outdoor patio looks over the lake for great sun sets. The problem is the staff. Very unorganized and def not friendly. Almost as if they're being bothered. I've been back several times and each time it's been basically empty (Sundays). Sometimes we don't even see a waitress and have to ask for one. One time the dishwasher came out to greet us, lol. The bartenders are more interested in scrolling on Snapchat than attending to customers. I only go back because of the scenery and chicken wing deals. The staff all need to be retrained or this place will close like the last ownership. read more

I was surprised to see such low reviews . While this place didn't blow me away and I'll always consider it the old "Dock at the Bay", I didn't find it half bad . Beautiful spot to grab a cocktail and the sunset. (or in my case midget wrestling lol ) We decided to eat some dinner after the show . I got a scallop po-boy (which I never see , why not use scallops instead of the typical shrimp or catfish? ) with a side of baked beans while my cousin got chicken Alfredo . Both entrees were a decent portion and tasty . I won't give this place 5 stars only because the bathrooms needed some tidying up and our server went MIA when it came time to settle the bill and get takeout containers (we had another server hunt her down ) . First impression isn't great. I came here not having any idea what this place is all about. So, they had a show going on in the back so we could only hang out in the main bar. That's fine because a crazy 20 minute storm hit, so we wanted to hang inside and have a drink. My hubby got a Jameaon and diet. I ordered a Manhattan. The bartender got confused and said I can't make that. I said can I have Bulleit bourbon on the rocks with a splash of cherry juice? She said they don't have cherries. She disappeared and got drinks for other people. I didn't realize my order experience was over because I still had no drink. She came back and said I have grenadine. I made it easy and said give me a deep eddy and club soda and got that but with grenadine in it. Maybe just an uneducated bartender but damn. I came with a party of five on a Tuesday night. We waited in the front hall/entrance with another group for a while. A server approached and a member of my group greeted her, assuming she was there to check us in. The server briskly said "hi" and continued walking with her head down. Finally, a hostess came up and took our name stating there will be about a 30 minute wait. We did not make a reservation so we expected to have a wait. We waited for our table at the outdoor bar, and the service there was good. The girls were friendly and moved around the bar quickly. We barely had to wait for drinks. After about an hour we were finally seated. This was frustrating because there were multiple open tables. It took 45 minutes to an hour for our food to come. Our server said there was a backup in the kitchen, which I can understand, but there really were not that many tables seated at this point. When our food finally did come out it wasn't great. Two members of my party got the buffalo chicken finger wrap. They both thought the chicken was soggy and the lettuce tasted old/wilted. I got the beer battered fish sandwich. From the outside it looked like it was cooked, even dark, but there was still some wet batter on the inside. At this point we were tired and just wanted to leave. We had been there a long time and a majority of it was waiting. A few of us visited the restrooms and they were far from clean. Some doors didn't lock, there was toilet paper all over the floor, and overall it was dirty. I am usually understanding of a restaurant's bathroom when it's also a bar, however, it wasn't a Saturday night, it was a Tuesday. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in days. Arrived at 6pm on a Thursday & was told it would be 20 minutes. No problem. Walked through the empty dining area to the mostly empty bar outside to get a drink and wait on the empty patio. (Also, no Labatt Blue, in Buffalo? Not a deal breaker, just different) Hostess found us at 20 minutes and seated us outside where we waited 30 minutes. Nobody came by to say they'd be with us. Tables in the umbrella area were semi full, but there were 3 waiters. I went inside to the hostess to ask if we could please get a server. She apologized and sent one to our table who took our drink and food order and after another 10 minutes of nothing we called it a waste of an hour and left. I let the hostess know. While we waited, we had the chance to observe how little care has been given to the outdoor space here. It's not clean. Overgrown landscaping with weeds everywhere including all through the cracked concrete. The red paint they used did not fix what was broken with this place when it was Dos. I would love to comment on the food but waiting an hour when it's not busy, for bar food, is silly. Needless to say, we won't be back, which is a shame because this is a great piece of property that continues to be sold to owners who rely on the view and little else to create a business model. We then went to Johnson's Landing where we were immediately seated, a waitress immediately arrived and in under 10 minutes we had drinks, appetizers and our food was on the way. It's clean, service is always terrific, and the food is good. They might rely on the beauty of the view to get you in but they back it up with the rest of the package. Every aspect of our experience was questionable. As we approached the restaurant from the parking lot, we could hear someone yelling expletives from a side kitchen door near the main entrance. Nobody greeted us or the two parties there ahead of us when we walked in for nearly 10 minutes. Someone from our group walked further in to the restaurant and still could not find any staff in the empty dining room at 7PM. It was a beautiful evening and it appeared that everyone was on the outside patio. A band was playing and we were asked to pay a cover charge for everyone in our party even though we were there for dinner with 2 adults and three children. Then we were informed that the wait for dinner would be close to 90 minutes after we had been sat and ordered something to drink. We decided to leave and inquired about speaking to a manager about paying $25 to come in just to have a drink because no one thought to mention the kitchen was slammed and struggling. The band was on break so, we never heard any music. After being pointed in the direction of the owner, we explained our experience. He was condescending and rude with zero customer service skills. Additionally, there was a noxious metallic chemical smell on the outdoor patio that ebbed and flowed with the breeze. Well, the ambiance is the only thing going for this restaurant, that's thanks to the lake! Mind you, we ordered our dinner with a large party, yet four people got their food and the rest of us watched as they ate... for over 40 minutes we waited for food. And when the food came it was dried out and over cooked. It was the worst experience I have ever had. I will not be going back for anything ever again. The food wasn't hot and even my grandson complained about the taste of his kiddy burger and even the water down orange juice... Very disappointing when a 6 year old has to have us taste his food & drink it was not very good at all.. To cap off what was suppose to be a joyous double birthday celebration, we all saw the owner berating our waitress pointing over to our table... we were shocked that his bullying happened right before our eyes... when the waitress came over my wife informed her that the owner isn't someone you need to take crap from ... We refrained my wife to go over and give this pompous butt a good tongue lashing... we tipped the young lady very nicely and gave her some sound advice that she needed to work at a place that values their employees not treat them like a piece of crap in front of all the patrons If this man is doing this in front of the patrons, I can't imagine how the bullying SOB is behind the scenes. Our dinner bills combined to over $225 and to have what was to be a happy occasion turn into my first heavy worded review is beyond comprehension. We will never be back to give another $ to a man who thinks managing young people like it's the 1960s & 70s is unacceptable! BTW... I ordered a Martina with an olive and an onion and servers came to me asking why I would want an onion in my drink. They said they've never heard of it before. I took my nephews for lunch and I was amazed to find out that kids under 10 eat free off of the kids menu! A group of 4 met for dinner. I ordered broiled lemon pepper fish sandwich and 1 side. Everyone else's dinner came first. The waitress told me mine would be out in a minute. 10 minutes go by and I still don't have my fish sandwich. She came out and apologized and said it would be out soon. When it did come out, it was the beer, battered fish sandwich. I kindly said to the waitress this is not what I ordered. I ordered the broiled. She apologized and stated that's what I originally put through as the order, but then I thought I was wrong and made them remake it into the battered fish. I told her I could not eat the deep fried. She said she would take it off my bill and have them make me the right sandwich. While I was waiting for my food to come out, I ate my mac & cheese and ate some of the fish from under the breading. 10 minutes go by and then she asked me if she wants her to put my fish sandwich in order to go to container. At this point, everyone was just about done eating so I told her yes. My fish sandwich finally came out and we got the bill. I was charged for my dinner and my drink. I feel that even though I got a "FREE" sandwich, that I should not have been charged for the second one. A broiled fish sandwich is not gonna be good the next day as the bread will be soggy along with the tomato and lettuce that was on it. I came home and took it off the roll along with the veggies and put it in a Tupperware container at home. In my quest to be near water and to listen to live music, I ventured out to The Cowboy On The Lake. And, am so glad I did. The newly refurbished restaurant/venue was both appealing and relaxed. I sat on the outdoor porch to eat my fish fry while the music played down the stairs on the water's edge. I watched the windmills toil and the sun set. A rock band playing oldies serenaded diners. It was idyllic. The food was good. Too many curly fries but who's counting? The menu offers what you're used to for bar food and some dinners. The server was attentive and helpful. Free line dance lessons are offered on the calendar. An impressive musical line-up for the coming month was also listed on the calendar. A large parking lot across from the restaurant adds convenience. Chairs and a dance floor in front of the band shell sit on the water's edge. A ten-dollar cover fee is in place if you go down the stairs to the patio and band but you can hear just fine from the porch whilst you dine or imbibe. A perfect setting for your summer dining and listening pleasure. I highly recommend the new Cowboy On The Lake. read more

She went out of her way to get us the table we reserved outside instead of sitting in the dark empty restaurant. Sadly, she was overworked and we waited for many things much of the night. The food was tolerable at best, one of us sent our fish fry back as it tasted previously thawed and re-frozen; like water logged fish, fried in oil. The steak we ordered was well done instead of medium rare and the curly fries were warmish. After our $180 dinner for 3 (minus the fish), we tried to sit at the outside bar to enjoy the band--Urban Renewal, worth a listen!--we were asked to pay cover charge!
