Went here because my girlfriend has been craving this cajun style boiled shrimp. So we got here Friday, dinner time, and the restaurant was almost empty. Only a few seats were filled, should have been a big red flag for a seafood restaurant. We were seated and looked at the menu, and ordered a combo set for $54 bucks, plus $10 for having peeled shrimp. Total bill $70 before tip, for 2 lbs shrimp, 1 lbs clams, some potato, sausage, and corn. (1) Salt... could not believe how salty everything was. I was shocked at the fact that they even brought out a squeeze bottle of salt and pepper, when everything in that bag was overly seasoned. (2) Quality - Seafood, did not seem to be fresh. Our clams came with broken shells and still had sand inside. Love that extra crunch! Also, love the fact that I got the runs later in the night.... (3) Service - Our server seemed nice at first, offered up up everything in the beginning, you know stuff like water, bibs, gloves, and napkins. Did they come out? No....had to ask several times, eventually the runner brought things out for us. When we were done, sat there waving our hand to try and get the check, but they were too busy laughing and gossiping at the bar to even pay attention to the floor. Omgosh what a feast! It was my first time at crab shack and service was excellent! Love how they have big open seating that can easily accommodate large parties! We came during lunch on a Saturday and were seated quickly! They have a good selection of beers on draft which I prefer over bottled beer! I have a weird phobia of shrimp when it has the head and legs on it and not many places offer peeled shrimp so this a major bonus for me. The non peeled shrimp is a huge barrier for me to eat seafood boil at other places. I will say the peeled shrimps look a bit smaller than the non peeled shrimps here so keep that in mind when ordering! But for me I will take that any day! The crab legs were so yummy too! My family and I visited the Crab Shack in Cypress for dinner and were impressed with the modern industrial vibe of the place. The place is good for large groups. They have a bar with a big screen playing sports, which is a great addition to the atmosphere. We ordered wings and fries for the kids, and for the adults, 2 lbs of peeled shrimp, 1 lb of crawfish, and 1 lb of snow crab legs. The garlic noodles with shrimp and sausage were highly recommended, and I must say they were truly delicious. All of the food had lots of flavor and tasted very fresh. We also found the staff to be very friendly, which added to our enjoyable experience. However, as it got busy, you can tell they were understaffed. Horrible customer service. Walked in and there are numerous people waiting to be seated, and no employee came to greet anyone or to let anyone know how long the wait list is. There are more empty tables than ones with costumers, yet they're ignoring everyone walking in and just looking at us and rolling their eyes as if they don't want anyone here. For a holiday (valentines day) they have displayed horrible management and hosting. Decided not to wait any longer and left. Everybody there needs hospitality training. For the expensive prices here, yall need to get your customer service skills up. Tell your employees to smile at the paying patrons, not give them unwelcoming looks and sighs. read more

What a hidden gem! My friends and I were looking for a good seafood boil spot without having to travel all the way to a Boiling Crab and wait in a long queue. Based on the reviews, we decided to check out The Crab Shack, and what a great choice! The Crab Shack has ample parking on both sides of the building; however, take note that the right-side parking lot does not connect to the left and is farther from the entrance. When I arrived there was no wait for a table, so I was able to be immediately seated. The menu is very similar to what you'd find at other seafood boil spots, but they also offer combos! My friends and I decided on combo 1 with an additional corn and a basket of fries. This was the perfect amount for us! The fries were tasty, and the sauce was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of kick. They also have a huge handwashing station in the back just in front of the bathroom stalls! What a relief! Service was a bit slow when we came in. The staff were all friendly and helpful but seemed to be understaffed for a Friday evening. It took some time for us to flag down someone to take our order, and when we noticed our extra corn didn't make it, it took us some time to ask about it. They checked in on us when they could, but it seemed as though there were 3 runners that were seating, taking orders, servicing food, and cleaning up for the entire restaurant. This is a typical country boil restaurant; messy (yes, with gloves and bibs), but the food is VERY tasty. The ingredients are high quality, and the shrimp are large and fresh. I have to say the food here was delicious!! We ordered a special they have 2 pounds of shrimp and 1 pound of muscles, mild crab shack style. The shrimp were cooked perfectly they were plump not over cooked and were easy to peel. The Waitress we had when we ordered was ok she took our order but whenever we needed anything she was no where to be found. It's not like it was busy there was only one other table occupied. Mid way through our meal she either went home or went on break cause we never saw her again which was fine cause the second waitress was readily available and checked on us a few times. The only thing about this place that we didn't like is the booths they're super uncomfortable, the cushion on them was very thin and you could feel the wood planks underneath. LOVE this place! I've passed The Crab Shack a ton of times as my kids attend school near by. We finally tried it and had a wonderful experience. We were greeted by the friendly staff immediately upon entering the restaurant. It was nearly 9pm so the dinner rush had passed and there were plenty of clean open tables. I observed the staff clean the tables promptly after guests left. Our server kindly asked if we'd visited before and took the time to explain the menu. Finally, the food was delicious !!! We got the smallest bucket meal with mussels and shrimp for my family of 4 and added crab shack fries and garlic bread. Everything was very flavorful and well cooked. I've been to a lot of cajun shrimp restaurants. This by far is my least fav. They charge extra $5/bag for peeled shrimp. The sauce is watery compared to other places. And bit enough "bang." The server forgot to bring us our water. And when I had to remind her, they bring it a container with plastic cups: self serve. Now mind you, I don't usually care but when your hands are full of sauce, it's a little frustrating. She could have poured it for us. The place was not busy. Only one other party besides us. We also ordered garlic fries which were delicious and the garlic noodles. Noodles were ok. They tasted a bit sweet which I didn't like, but my hubby and dtr liked them. I went to this location to meet a friend for lunch because the one is Carson is my closer, but WOW!!! I really liked the layout of this location! The way the seating is set up, you don't feel close to people which is really nice both in a post Covid way and in terms of being able to have comfortable conversations at your booth. The decor is cute and quirky using soda/beer bottles for light covers and having a bunch of 55" tvs to look at. The seafood was excellent. The seasoning was quite tasty and everything tasted fresh! The potatoes were kinda on the big side which was a little off putting, but nonetheless good. The garlic fries were great as well! The restrooms were cute but they could have been a bit more fresh, especially with it being 1 pm and they weren't crowded at all. Service was ok, again it wasn't crowded but it seemed like we were a bother to our server. I definitely recommend this location and I would even drive over to this area again for it. Out of all the three locations, I personally believe this Cypress location is the best one. I came here on a Saturday with a group of 9. Fortunately, it wasn't crowded so we were able to be seated right away. If you're looking to avoid crowds on the weekend at other Viet Cajun spots, this is a good option! [FOOD] They have seafood combo options. They also give you option of convenience with the choice of peeled shrimp. There's also a bunch of other items I would like to try on my next visit. APPETIZERS: Calamari (5/5) $15.99 - I actually like that the pieces were smaller rings and legs instead of huge ones. It's perfect to just pop in your mouth, and it was seasoned well. This went well with the Cajun Style Mayo condiment or the Cocktail Sauce. Garlic Noodles (5/5) $17.99 - This comes with shrimp and pork sausage. I prefer to eat Viet Cajun seafood with noodles over rice, so this went well with the seafood. Garlic Fries (5/5) $5.99 - The fries are standard cut. Not oily, and perfect to eat with seafood. We had 2 lb clams, 4 lbs peeled shrimp, and 2 lb. crab legs total. Super flavorful, and the spice was just perfect for me. It was a little spicier for some of the others, but I liked it a lot. Honestly, I did love the convenience of trying peeled shrimp for the first time, but I do prefer to have unpeeled shrimp because I like to suck the heads. The majority of the group wanted peeled shrimp, so it's a first time for everything! Some of the group did the Spicy Challenge with crawfish (live not frozen). I have to try the other foods, I tried the shrimp with mild seasoning, and asked if I can taste the medium and the spicy. They were all very tasty, and I was able to handle the spicy level of heat. It was not an impossible heat. It was just right. Then again, I can handle Ghost pepper level. I came here recently for my girlfriend's birthday. The entire experience was just OK. I've never dined at place like this, not a single boiling crab or any of these similar type ones. So this was an entire first experience for me. The server was nice enough. She let us know about the current specials and promotions. She didn't offer us any of the MP pricing until we asked. She was nice enough to recognize that we were a group and that we would be asking for separate bills along the way sometime. That was great of her to anticipate that. Our food was OK. The crab shack seasoning was tasty. The mild was enough for me. Personally I think paying the extra $5 per lb for the shelled shrimp was worth it. It was rather tedious to have to shell the shrimp ourselves. The flavor is sealed up nicely in those bags. I'm glad, however, that the corn that we ordered was separate and not steamed with the shrimp. The crab shack seasoning on the fries made 'em extra tasty. The garlic bread was tasty but nothing over the top special. One thing that would have been helpful is if the server had been able to give some of our party instructions on how to eat craw fish.
