We had breakfast there for the first time yesterday and we were very disappointed. My husband ordered the western omelette that looked smaller than my one scrambled. The home fries were very good however we both received about 2 tablesoons of patatoes. We got rye toast unbuttered and no jelly offered . Our bill was $26 and change. My husband had an appointment in a doctor's office nearby. While waiting, I searched Yelp and found all the great reviews for The Cracked Egg. We were so hungry and looking forward to a great breakfast. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! Upon entering we were told to sit anywhere, but there was only one table that was cleaned and set, the other tables were empty and still had dirty dishes on them. My husband asked me to order him tea and then went to the bathroom. He waited until we were in the car to tell me that the bathroom was filthy. I was very hungry and ordered the daily special of an omelet with ham, cheese and spinach. Based upon the reviews, I asked for peppers and onions in my home fries. My husband ordered grits and an omelet. My breakfast arrives in a timely manner. I took one bite of my egg and discovered a hair under the egg in my dish. I was grossed out and lost my appetite. Delicious food! My girlfriend and I got egg sandwiches that were tasty. They have specials on a board up by the counter, which I was very tempted to try. The place is not big, so unless you're coming alone, expect a wait. There is a seating at the counter as well as tables. We had to wait a little less than a half hour (on a Saturday morning) but it was well worth it. OMG would be one word to describe this hidden gem. Traveling back from Atlantic City we needed a breakfast place to cure our hunger pangs from the previous night's festivities. It's about a 15 minute drive away from AC. It's easy to miss this place because it's small - btw, don't let the outside fool you b/c it's right next to a Motel. We were immediately greeted as we walked in and picked the stools at the bar where we could watch our food being made. I'll admit, I was a little apprehensive b/c of the small menu (even though everything sounded delicious) but the pictures looked fantastic so it was worth a shot. I ordered The Crackin - which is 2 fried eggs w/ cheese, breakfast potatoes, 3 sausages on a huge roll and coffee. My friend ordered an Omelette with sausages and potatoes ( I forgot the name). Get the onions and peppers on your potatoes and on your eggs, if you can! We also got a short stack of French Toast, well because...its Sunday. Food came out and we couldn't believe our eyes on the portion sizes! TONS OF FOOD! We devoured all of it - our waitress was really attentive to our thirst - and OMG THE FRENCH TOAST!! SO MUCH CINNAMON-Y VANILLA-Y GOODNESS! It was perfect - not too soggy and not eggy. It's been 3 days since we were there and my friend and I still talk about how delicious that breakfast was. I've been to a ton of brunch spots all over the country and this was the Best we ever had!! we gave this place a shot last minute and we probably should have kept looking. The chicken salad was really dry. The veggie omelette, even though it was full of veggies, was seriously overcooked. The rye toast was burnt. We probably could have looked past these things if someone would have said "Is everything okay?" But nobody did until we were well into the meal. I heard some good things about this restaurant so I decided to try it out myself. I ordered the Belgian waffles w/strawberries and my dad ordered the American cheese omelet w/home fries and sausages. The portions were a bit small and we both left hungry. My dad stated he would of liked more home fries with his meal. My waffles were over cooked and they were hard to chew. I ended up getting bananas, because I do not like frozen strawberries. That is my preference though. The customer service was great and I do like that they buy their products from local farmers.
