My husband and I visited the Crush House during a night away stay at Gervasi Vineyards. We stopped in for lunch as well as a wine tasting later in the evening. Overall, we enjoyed our experience. For lunch we dined on the upper balcony/patio. Our server was lovely and attentive. Per her suggestion, we ordered the red pepper cheese dip for an appetizer. We were starving and demolished it! It was a nice appetizer, though a much more runny "dip" than I'm accustomed too. For our entrees, I ordered the crush house salad with chicken and my husband ordered the short rib gnocchi. He LOVED his dish. I on the other hand thought that my sals was a bit average. The dressing was very very runny and tasted almost as if someone just doused the bowl with vinegar. On the positive side, the serving size was on the larger side and the presentation was lovely. We returned to the Crush House later in the evening to enjoy a wine tasting. For a Wednesday evening, it was packed! With only one bartender/wine specialist working, our tasting was slightly choppy and involved some waiting. This was completely understandable though given how busy it was. We felt that they could certainly do with an additional bartender! This place is amazing. The decor is beautiful and trendy, there's plenty of outdoor seating for nice weather, and it's a winery, so the wine is great as expected. The 5 stars I gave because of the delicious food! Now I've eaten a lot of good food in my life, but one of the best things I've ever had are the fried risotto cakes from here! Crispy, creamy, salty and flavorful, it's a perfect combination. The crispy fig crostatas were a close second. They have fig, cream cheese, walnuts and clover honey, so it's the perfect sweet accompaniment to something salty. If you go during happy hour, you can save yourself a decent amount of money as well! I don't like eggplant & it was good! My chicken was crunchy on the outside & juicy on the inside. It was served over a bed of creamy mashed potatoes wit a side of perfectly made asparagus. Not the wilty kind. My wife ordered a glass of "Passion" & I ordered the Crush signature cocktail- vodka w/muddled red grapes lemon, fresh mint & torn basil with a splash of ginger ale. OMG!! Gervasis is adorable on it's own. My family allowed me to dictate lunch spot that day. Duh! Okay so I can now say I have eaten at their outdoor patio and now crush house. So to start the wines are amazing. They food is anything from light and airy such as salads sandwiches to pasta dishes and savory. There truly is something on the menu for everyone. The decor is simple and beautiful. I could have stayed longer. Lol kids! They have a boozy gelato menu too! We decided to not partake in desert course. I drank my wine and devoured the daily special of a simple pasta with shrimp and fresh veggies. Oh my stars! Our server was on par with recommendations. This has 2 levels for dining pleasure and a wrap around deck that is covered. Great space for all occasions including a work lunch or just knowing where to go. I cant wait to go back and try this place for dinner. Would go all the time if I didnt live in Florida. Had a relaxing lunch at The Crush House while passing through Canton. We decided to belly up to the bar where we received impeccable service. The server recommended a delicious dry red wine for me and a pale ale for the hubs. I feasted on the crush burger with gorganzola and roasted red peppers accompanied with house made chips. The Crush House patio has some ground level seating, but the best tables are upstairs on the 2nd level. The patio is filled with high top tables with a view of the bike trail and you're positioned for a breeze. Happy hour $5 apps are a great deal - my favorite is the house made loaded chips with gorgonzola sauce, and I love the Crush House salad with candied nuts, green apples and dried cranberries. Coming from the dining scenes of the bigger cities like LA, Chicago, and Atlanta, I find it difficult to find a nice dining experience that isn't a steakhouse or a chain in Canton/N Canton. I was pleasantly surprised with The Crust House. Having eaten at the Bistro, I wasn't totally impressed, but said "ok" when told the The Crust House was different. What was good? The fig flatbread - my daughter couldn't eat it fast enough (it's sweet enough to eat as a dessert). The soup was nice and the salads a good value. The service was wonderful and accommodating. What wasn't good? The wine. I cannot seem to find a wine I like. If they would sell wine other than their own, they would sell a lot more - but that is likely not the point. It would be bliss if their new restaurant (Twisted Olive) decides to put non-Gervasi wines on the menu! read more

This was such a frustrating and embarrassing experience. I have a business card with my allergies listed. I wrote my meal on the back to make it easy for the server and chef. The waitress doesn't come back for well over an hour and when she does, she says LOUDLY that my meal is taking forever and it's because of my allergies. All of my friends were waiting on their salads because my pasta wasn't cooked right and they had to remake it. Her story didn't even make sense. Blaming my meal as to the reason that my friends were starving wasn't fair and it was embarrassing. I've had that meal once before at this place and it didn't take hours to receive. Plus, by the end of the afternoon, it felt like everyone around us knew I had allergies because she spoke so loudly. When my meal did come, I was too nervous to eat it so I paid for NOTHING. And this place isn't cheap. But how can I eat something confidently when they may have cross contaminated like they apparently did the first time they made it? Terrible experience and I don't plan on going back for a longgg time. ...which is a shame because I get groups of friends together often, but we'll go somewhere else if this is the kind of service we'd experience. read more

I literally had the best experience at The Crush House! I was initially a little hesitant to select this restaurant because it's part of the Gervasi Winery that I've heard has subpar wine and overpriced food. This was not my experience. They have call ahead seating which I recommend you do because the wait can be long. When we arrived we had to wait but easily found a comfortable seat at the bar. The drink menu was fantastic. There were many options to chose from and the bartenders were prompt and friendly. After a drink, we were seated upstairs. I ordered cream of chicken soup at the servers recommendation and it didn't disappoint. My meal was beef gnocchi. They were perfection! The meal was finished with a shared piece of tiramisu. It tasted nothing like tiramisu but it was phenomenal! I want to mention that the restaurant was quite loud so if you want a quiet meal, The Crush House may not be for you. First of all the food was amazing. We had the risotto cakes, wedding soup, pappardelle bolognese and gnocchi with short rib. Had the Truscano Sangiovese wine which was excellent, bought 5 bottles. My only complaint re the food is they don't give bread with the meal. The reason for only 4 stars was the wait. We arrived at 3 on a Saturday and were put on a waitlist. They don't take reservations and cannot give you a timeframe. We waited one hour and 40 minutes. During the wait there were multiple tables that were empty the whole time. When we were finally seated it was at a table that had been empty for at least a half an hour. We are not from the area so if we ever do go back it will probably be to the Bistro where we can make reservations. read more

I visited The Crush House with my husband and his family. What a hidden gem in Canton, OH! The main Italian restaurant was closed as it was a Monday afternoon. As soon as we decided what we were doing and how many were in our party, we were seated right away. I ordered a glass of their moscato which was nice and sweet, just the way I like it. My husband ordered a glass of their Zin Zin which I didn't like because I do not appreciate dry wines. For the table, we ordered a few bottles - Zin Zin, Romanza (a rose, medium sweetness, pretty tasty) and the Dolcetto. Their moscato was still my favorite. As for the food, it's like a bistro-style restaurant. They had a variety of appetizers (which we did not try) and their entrées consisted of piada (flatbread-style sandwiches) or pasta bowls. I ordered the vegetariano piada which came with eggplant "meatballs", fresh mozzarella, arugula, and a spicy diavolo (marinara) sauce. The combination of flavors were incredible. The diavolo sauce had some kick which I liked. The entrées do not come with a side by default, you have to order it as an extra. I decided not to order a side and the entrée was more than enough for me. Everybody else was pleased their choices. For dessert we ordered their celebration gelato cake which was a vanilla ice cream cake with some chocolate bits and pieces of white cake mixed in. We also ordered a bottle of their Santo port wine to go with it. The port went very well with the ice cream cake. It smells like a whiskey but tastes so much better - very sweet, strong and you can definitely taste the caramel and raisins. The décor is very nice. Everything is red, black & steel. Our table was made of steel with a huge chandelier above us made out of red wine bottles. The property does wine tastings at the bar. The Crush House is where the property makes their wines and they do tours (I think) on the weekends. They also have a nice selection of craft beers. The property also has rooms that you can rent for couples to spend the night and villas for groups of people. Behind The Crush House and Italian restaurant is a large pond that is beautiful. There are chairs set outside so you can view the pond and share some drinks. It would be a very nice venue to hold a wedding. read more

I was very impressed by all aspects of my recent visit to the Crush House. I've only been to Gervasi a few times before, and can't really compare this to eating at their other venues. We came on a Monday evening with a large group. When we arrived we thought we were a group of 10, but as we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive we grew to a group of 17. The hostesses and bartenders were all exceptionally gracious and welcoming. Top notch service for sure. Never once did we feel rushed or like we were inconveniencing them, even after they set up a private room for us that we ended up not being able to use because we added too many people to fit. Our service during dinner was also above average. The building is beautiful, and I really like the layout. they have several separated seating areas of varying sizes, both indoors and outdoors. We sat inside, but I imagine the upstairs balcony seating is very nice with views of the surroundings. I also really liked the bathroom sinks with the hand dryers built right into the faucets. Really cool! Since we were such a large group, we got to share many dishes and drinks. I thought all the food was delicious and very nicely presented. I was also surprised and how low the prices were (entrees were mostly in the $8-$12 range). The stand-out food items for me were the piada (like a sandwich) with eggplant "meatballs" (what a cool idea!), spicy beef short rib orzo, and bourbon delight dessert. Oh boy. I've heard nothing but good things about both Crush House and Gervasi, plus the majority of *all fifteen* reviews seemed promising. Came for drinks and dessert and was disappointed. For starters, the drinks were good and strong. After that though, I really feel very "meh" about the whole thing. Started with crab dip (okay I lied. Came for desserts, drinking and crab dip). It was OK. It was on about the same level as a crab and spinach dip you would find at Applebee's or Friday's and the piada chips served with it were way too salty. Both desserts my table ordered were bad. Not just "oh this isn't that good but I'm still going to eat it bad." We're talking "wow this is really terrible and I positively cannot go on" bad. Sorry. :-/ The chocolate cake was really terrible, with more icing than cake, neither of which were good. Bread pudding was flavorless and seemed like it was sitting out for days and just..Blegh. The waiter and manager were accommodating and super understanding, though. We got comped and tried the Nutella banana dessert. Man, I'm sorry but that was also very disappointing. They came out room temperature there was nothing special about it. Bananas weren't caramelized or anything, everything was just slapped on there like your mom made it for you and your little friends after school. However, they were edible. Just not worth $7. But I'm not complaining, just stating facts. I do plan on coming back to try the food food at some point. The atmosphere is really cute and great and comfy. As a regular of this particular place and restaurant employee myself, DO NOT listen to every review on here. Kevin H in particular who fails to write about his rude and "I'm better than you" attitude while being a guest at this restaurant should apologize for how he talked to their bartender on that particular night which made everyone around the bar feel awkward and embarrassed for her because no one should be treated that way. This bartender was NOT rude and argumentative but just embarrassed and upset with how she was being talked down to so she stayed back and was not her outgoing self and clearly was upset. Rest assured if HE will NOT be back, than we all surely will! This place has awesome service and great happy hour drinks and thee friendliest bartenders I've ever met. I visited the Crush House with my husband and his parents. This is the latest addition to the Gervasi winery. Apparently at night this place becomes a bar. We came around 1pm on a Saturday and hung out upstairs until the 2 pm tour (tours are at 12, 1, and 2 on Saturdays). Since we had just been in the car for the better part of 2.5 hours, we were ready for a pre-lunch snack (lunch reservations at 2:15 the bistro). We were seated right away and we decided to order a trio of appetizers to tide us over till lunch. I didn't notice, but the appetizers (called cicchetti) are served in trios, as in 3 pieces. Awkward to share between 4 people. Oops, we made it work. We ordered the Formaggio, salumi plate, and crispy fig crostatas. The Formaggio plate was generally cheese on some arugula on a crostini. Which would be fine (I love me some cheese and bread!), but some of the cheese was cut like a pat of butter and just put on top. Since the crostini is a 2 bite thing, it was annoying to try and keep on piece of cheese from falling, while fitting a piece of bread and tablespoon sized piece of cheese in your mouth. Unwieldy. The salumi plate was good too, but again, awkward bites. I enjoyed the flavor of the fig crostatas, but since you can't pop it in your mouth, honey will get on your fingers, and things get sticky fast. If you're looking to do more than grazing, there are more substantial items on the menu, but don't expect innovative gourmet dining. The food was a little expensive for what they're serving, but do keep up the appearance of a high end winery. To drink I ordered a glass of the Barbera because apparently it is only sold on the premise. I thought it was ok. Tasted like an earthy young wine. I prefer wines that are more full bodied. The husband wanted to try the seasonal (Christmas time) sangria drink. We both agreed that it tasted like a bag of cinnamon hit you in the face. I've been to the Vineyard a couple of times, so we decided to go here. It was open on Labor Day. The setting is stunning. This is really a hidden gem in the Akron/Canton area. The interior design and overall architecture is very nice. Short Rib slider: there were three on the plate. The meat was soft and tasty. I enjoyed it. Simple Salad: We were going to get the entree and the side salad, but the server noted we were sharing our dishes, so he recommended that we pay the extra $1 and get the simple salad and the bigger portion. That was a good tip. The salad was good, good, fresh salad. Shrimp and chorizo noodles: the sauce was a bit watery. The chorizo was different. It reminded me of cut up hot dogs, but a firmer texture. It was a good dish, but some of the textures of the dish: chorizo and sauce, were a bit different. Overall impression: This was a romantic meal with my girlfriend. We ate dinner and walked around the gervasi compound. We talked about possibly renting out one of the houses one day. Very romantic setting. read more
