Went here twice. Both times the guy behind the counter cared more about his cell phone then he did customers. I have never seen an employee in a store using their phones , especially to the extend he did. We got a cuban one night as they were sold out of all the Empanadas. The cuban was so - so. The next day we walked buy and got 2 empanadas 1 chicken, 1 beef. The beef one was delicious, the chicken was also so-so. My only issue was that one of the workers (a short white male, possibly named Eli or Erick) was rude and quite frankly ruined my experience. I have hope that the rest of the staff is kinder but this young mans service was truly disgruntling. I ordered a media noche sandwich, and when I recieved it, it was very cold when I asked for it toasted. I am not one to pick fights, so I kindly asked this young man if he could toast it again. Had lunch with my wife there this afternoon. She had the steak sandwich. And I had the croquet sandwich. I'm Cuban by birth, I have eating out a lot of Cuban restaurants in my lifetime.. However there's nothing Cuban about the food here, it's missing the flavor that's associated with these different sandwiches that we had today. They were very plain and put together all wrong. I've had the bistec sandwich, the Cuban, almost all the snacks, and most of the coffees they offer. My favorite coffee is the cafe con leche and the espresso. 1 star because we do like the cafe con leche. We have tried the churros, empanadas, bistec sandwich, stuffed potato balls, and the tres leches cake. Sadly, none of the above tasted good. It seemed like some of the items were extremely old and had just been sitting in the stand for days. You can tell the oil they use to fry is old and not changed on a regular basis. The bistec sandwich was the worst I have ever tried. I also need to comment on how unfriendly the staff is. Not once have we ever been greeted, and when you say thank you they just don't respond. Been many times (for the cafe con leche) and it's always the same girl who makes the coffee, she has to be the rudest of them all. Hopefully the owner can address some of the issues, because it definitely has the potential to be so much better than it is. read more

Great spot for a quick bite. St. Augustine has many wonderful restaurants, but sometimes you are just trying to get a really quick meal before heading to one of the attractions, and this place is perfect for that. Quick-service food with a few tables for chowing down. We had 2 types of empanadas: spinach & cheese and the chicken. Both excellent, as were my ham croquettes. Good Cuban sand which. They aren't fast but on a slow day in St. Augustine it was worth the wait. The chicken empanadas were good. I know nothing about Cuban food but I tried several of their offerings and they were good. I wish they would sell loaves of Cuban bread since after all they are a bakery. This spot is legit. Seriously, it's in a hidden corner in St. Augustine and the food is as good as any spot in Miami. Menu is basically all types of Cuban style sandwiches but you can't go wrong with anything on this menu. Even a plain pan con croqueta aka croquettes was amazing. Compliments to the chef the cashier and whoever owns this place. And yes even the their colada aka Cuban espresso was good. The outside area has a nice seating area slightly above the road it is on separated by a wall. This place serves more in between type meals. I would give this place overall a 7 out of 10. The quality of the food was pretty good, and the quantity was what I think is appropriate for the prices. One empanada for about $3. The service could be worked on, but it also is more fast paced type of establishment. The decor is interesting, nice and cultural. Very slow service for most of the things already being made and the two people there seem to have no sense of urgency or care that line is forming and they take their sweet time.
