Fall flavors are the best!!! Pumpkin and Apple Crisp. The servings are huge, but are a bit pricy compared to other shops in the area. The place is hit or miss on cleanliness, sometimes the tables are sticky and other times they are nice and clean. The staff is also hit or miss, sometimes you get someone who is really happy and eager to serve you with a smile, and other times the person behind the counter looks like she would rather be somewhere else. A little advice, always pay with a credit card!! When I pay with cash it is ALWAYS a different price for the same order, and I NEVER get a receipt. I took my 9yr old daughter there at approx. 7:40pm on a Weds nite. The lites were on, door was open and people were waiting to be served, so we went inside. The only employee, maybe a 17yr old boy proceeded to tell me I'm not serving anyone else. I said ok and was going to get in line. He then said no, these people over here are the last people I'm serving tonite, I'm closing early tonite. I asked him if he really wanted me to leave, he said yes. The only positive I can give The Daily Scoop is that they chose to serve Richardson's ice cream. Aside from that, their servings are TINY and very expensive for the size. Like the last reviewer pointed out, the place is not really all that clean. The staff wasn't very friendly and I certainly was not impressed. The staff is super nice and friendly. They carry Richardson's ice cream and it is delicious!! Beware of the sizing on the cones. A kiddie is a HUGE scoop so keep that in mind when ordering. They also have seating outside. It is right on Main Street but awesome to hang out where you can be outside. Enjoy!! read more

Great choices and yummy Richardson's. One criticism - and it's not of Daily Scoop, but ice cream shops generally. I would never in a million years serve a "kiddie" size cone to a kid. About 3x more than they should be consuming. Wish someone would get real about portion sizes. But this is a really nice little shop. read more

What a wonderful ice cream shop! Generous portions of Richardson's Ice Cream served by a very pleasant staff. We take our young grandchild there and the servers are very attentive to her. Further, during the school year the place is quite busy when the junior high gets out, but it's never outrageously loud or out of control. And how many places have both Frozen Pudding and Black Raspberry on their flavor list! (As well as all the more normal flavors.) read more

I ordered a cake over the phone, my daughter picked it up. When we cut into it it was not what we ordered. I had asked for a snickers cake wrapped it fudge and got a layer of vanilla a layer of cookie crumbs and a layer of what seemed to be homemade snickers ice cream.... frosted. I called immediately and asked to speak to the manager, the cake was $40 and I felt the Order was standard so I wanted my money back (willing to bring the cake , minus the 3 pieces that were served back) . The young man I spoke to was VERY professional and tried his best to make it right. He told me he would have the owner call. After speaking to the owner I think he should allow the young man to deal with all his problem calls (I'm sure I am not the only one) . John returned my call within 15 min, I have to say I was impressed, unfortunately that's were it begins and ends with him. He told me he had to go in and check what was ordered, keep in mind he is looking to see what the boy that took the order wrote down there was no online order placed so now it is "he said , she said" . I gave him the benefit of the doubt still thinking he would do the right thing (refund me) . John called back early the next morning, proceeded to defend his employee and told me he would leave a gift certificate for the cake I ordered however the next time I order to make sure I order correctly....... well I couldn't have been more clear with my order, so thank you for the reimbursement. He is definitely a man that needs to get the last word and defended himself by saying he isn't accusing me of not ordering correctly just wanted to let me know to be clear when ordering and wrapped his stern daddy speech up by calling me "honey" . John, next time just leave it at "I'm sorry" and maybe let the young man I first spoke to handle your calls. Oh and maybe offer and email receipt or at the very least a text to verify there is no mistake in the words that are spoken, honey. read more

As others have pointed out, this place started out a winner with loads of fun charm, when it was rehabbed and run by a young couple a few years back. Now it's simply horrible under the "new" owners. Dirty, crowded with junk, and expensive. Richardson's is only B- ice cream anyway. If you're in Stoneham, go to Dairy Dome, which is okay but also not terrific. The best in the area, bar none, is Cravings on Main street in Wakefield -- an old-fashioned soda fountain with wonderful homemade, A+ ice cream. read more

I went in for a soft-serve vanilla with cherry dip and was told that they would not put it in a cup for me, only a cone. Literally the ONLY ice cream place I have ever been to in my life that has told me that. I was driving and did not want it to melt in my hand. Needless to say I won't be returning. read more

This is a great ice cream shop! They have a wide variety of flavors, and a great selection of frozen yogurts as well. The prices are a bit high ($6 for a small cone with sprinkles), but worth it for an occasional splurge. They have a few small tables inside, and a picnic table outside (but it is on a busy road, so not the most scenic). I've been eyeing this place for months and finally went inside to try it after reading great reviews on Yelp. I'm so glad I tried it! It does seem a bit pricey to me (but I grew up in a cheaper part of the country). The employee was so patient, which I appreciated since I was really unsure about what exactly I wanted. She answered my questions with a smile and even offered to let us sample any flavors we were interested in. Definitely a great place and I'm already excited to go back! This little ice cream shop on Main Street in Stoneham makes incredibly delicious fudge frosted ice cream cakes. I have been buying this cake for over 25 years and my kids (who are now adults) return home to celebrate their birthdays for their "favorite birthday cake!" The staff are so friendly and the owner of he shop really makes sure that he delivers a quality product to a satisfied customer. I love this place! Last year I believe or the year ago this placed was bought by someone new. The last owner didn't last very long as he didnt keep it in great shape. This place is very nice, colorful all over, extremely friendly staff.....and boy do they give you a big ice cream! Great place!! My daughters and I stopped by after a visit to the zoo - the two woman behind the counter were very friendly and let my 4 year old try virtually everything lol. The ice cream was delicious (I got cake batter and my little one got mint) and my oldest raved about the Italian ice. It is a bit pricy, BUT it's good quality and even the kiddie size satisfied me (which equals about a scoop and a half). Glad we found this place and will return if we're ever in town again. Great ice cream because it's Richardsons. A bit pricey, but ordering the kiddie size is a good portion for most. Frappes and icecream sandwiches are good. They have lots of flavors and toppings. Yes, this place has richardsons ice cream so the ice cream itself is delicious. HOWEVER, the customer service I experienced was terrible. We came into the ice cream place close to closing and they reluctantly served us; she slammed the freezers open and close, she ripped the money from our hands, and she shoved the ice cream at us. We sat down and were having a conversation. They began sweeping and closing the shades, we got the hint they were closing. We were going to leave when the lady with the black hair (seeming to be the shift leader, so she should have known better) said "you guys need to chill like we're closing" very rude and disrespectfully. I ca get richardsons ice cream with a smile somewhere else. I will not be returning to this place. read more
