This is a hard review. My husband and I have gone to this place multiple times for anniversary's, birthdays, etc but the last two times we've gone the quality just has not been the same. The last time we went was a few months ago for my husbands birthday. I had the salmon which was watery and bland. It tasted like they only seasoned the top and the rest was just bland. Veggies were burnt as well. We went again last weekend after a long hike and thought sure let's get a drink and split a plate of food. We ordered the dead burger which says on the description : grilled onions, cheese, ketchup and we ordered a side of fries. When the burger came there was soggy lettuce and no cheese...... no cheese on a cheese burger? Plus a very small about of fries which we paid 5.99 cents for.... For maybe 10 fries?? My husband asked the waitress when she finally checked on us "is this not supposed to have cheese?" She said oh yes it is... I'll be right back " Our assumption and if I was in that position I would have remade the burger. Nope.... 15 minutes go by.... Now we have a cold burger and the waitress comes by with a cold piece of cheese on a plate and says "I'm not sure how to warm it up" at this point we were so frustrated we just said okay. It's a cold burger and a slice of cold cheese. We noticed after we left they didn't even have grilled onions. I asked for more fries since there was only 10 fries on the plate. Shocker they charged me for another side. Two glasses of wine, a cheese-less burger and fries for $60. I just feel their quality has gone down but prices are still insane. Sure the ambiance is beautiful but I could get better food elsewhere. I just don't get how you mess up something so simple and for 16 dollars for a burger..... better be a damn good burger. Then some other customers were next to us and they had been waitin for a shrimp cocktail for the entirety of their meal. A DISH THAT ISNT EVEN COOKED!!! And they told the waitress just forget it at this point since they were done with their entrees and still had not gotten their appetizers. It sucks that such a gem of a spot has such bad service. We will not be returning. If you had asked me about the dead fish a few months back or even last year we would rant and rave about how great it is. However, never again. Steer clear. read more

5 of us came here for lunch. We ordered baked salmon, a chicken fettuccine Alfredo, a crabmeat sandwich, chowder, fish and chips, and a garlic noodle. Food tastes ok and we got sat down by the window for a good view. Good service. The fish from the fish and chip was overly fried, kind of burnt. Salmon was excellent. Food is over priced for sure. With tip, those items totaled $180. Come here for a nice view. Can't order for pick up on the phone. Must go in to order for pick up. read more

Do not waste your time making a reservation on a holiday. I booked my reservation a month ago for Valentine's Day at 7pm and I show up and there's a long line of about 80 people waiting. I walk past them thinking none had a reservation but when I talk to the host she says I have to wait in line and that everyone in line has a reservation. Ridiculous how they overbooked their reservations and still make you wait past your "reservation" time, what is the point of planning ahead and making a reservation the right way when they clearly overbooked their reservations. The Dead Fish is an eclectic interior that takes me back 30 years to those restaurants with all the stars photos on the walls. Our reservation wait was 10 minutes until we were seated. Very reasonable. We had a few Fish Breath drinks (Pineapple, Coconut Cream, Rum) and Calamari before dinner. For the main course we had the crab, shrimp and mussels grilled and served on a skillet. I was surprised we had no bread served as we had two sauces in cups served with the dish. We also shared a beet salad with blue cheese which very good. The crab was very flavorful but the shells were not super crisp and the shrimp shells and tails were not that crisp as expected. A cappuccino finished off the evening. I had soft shell crab sandwich. It is a tiny crab. My Friend had a crab Louie, small tiny portions of crap whatever else supposed to be on it and the worst part of the lettuce had to pick most of it out. I hadn't been there in a very long time, the food is changed tremendously Only because My Friend was from out of town and she had not been there in a very long time. Ambiance was very nice and the view of the water is what keeps this place in business. Food was mediocre. My salmon was covered in sauce to give it some flavor, so couldn't taste the fish. Potatoes served with the salmon were dry and looked like they were prepped 3 days prior. Fried calamari was mixed with onions to make it look like that is more on the plate than there actually was. We got only one round of water and the rest of the time our glasses were not filled. Oh and this place for the lack of service and the mediocre food is expensive. read more

Today I walked in all by myself, to see if there was just one seat at the bar, the hostess could not make a decision so she asked I am assuming her manager, and I could not believe he told me "no" he was booked and I could not sit at the bar. WOW. I totally get it, but no room for one person at the bar, is a total shock, especially when the bar is always suppose to be for walk-ins. Really sucked, but the food at dead fish has been mediocre anyway. I came two weeks ago and sent back two dishes which was the black noodle pasta, and the cioppino back, I did not like it all. The booth has very soft sponge support underneath, so as soon as we sat down, me and my husband bumped into the back wood flank under our butts. Not a good feeling. Service is great! Food presentation is good. Bread with butter: Bread*****is fresh and delicious. The butter*: no flavor, no creamy milky flavor. Clam chowder* is full flavor of potato. I would call it The Potato soup. Fried Calamari*. To much frying breading attached to the calamari with too much fried crust in the plate. The sweet and pickled Jalapeño pepper on top is more popular than the Fried calamari. Sizzling Iron skillet roasted super combo *. My first Mussel is not fresh, second mussel is fresh with sand. Rest of the mussels are all ok. Since they put the big long cast iron plate on top of the rack. ( button bowl is for trash). THE CRAB!! I am SWOONING. I'm a California girl and have eaten crab in many places in my lifetime. This place tops 'em all. Hubs and I came to the Dead Fish on a lark, saw the buzz about Nonna's famous crab and thought, "Okay, we'll check it out. How great could it be?" Well, friends, let me tell you, you've never had an experience with crab like this one. I don't know what kind of magic they work in the kitchen but my taste buds were having a party! We ordered the crab and mussels combo platter and it was the perfect dish for two. Dip the bread and everything else in the garlic butter...delish!! We have friends visiting from Washington this weekend and already have a table reserved for some more noshing. Truly the BEST! My only suggestion is bring your own wine as their selection is "meh" and their only Chardonnay isn't good. No corkage fee! Had a groovy time here for a friends birthday. Had to be a party of like 30 ppl. They gave us a whole area where we could laugh & enjoy our celebration without interrupting others in the restaurant. We ordered tons of food, but I was really pleased with the double shrimp and whole crab. The crab & shrimp was sizzling when brought to the table. Food was really good.. all of it! The kickoff was the bartender having my drink ready soon as put my card back in my purse after paying. Finally made it here.... It was hot Tuesday evening. The outside is a lot nicer than the inside. Service was slow, on a hot day like yesterday, staff should provide ICE water to folks as they sit down not room temperature. Not that flavorful due to the sauce being burned and stuck to the bottom of the pan and the Bottom of the Salmon was stuck to the pan. (The pan they use is so hot) The crab-which had minimal crab in it, more bread than crab. Shout out to the outstanding service I got from David A (?) visit was 23 Jun 3021, Wednesday. One star off because I reserved a table for 1, yes just me, for 7:30pm. But when I got there, I had to wait an hour before I got seated. What is the use of reservation, please do tell. Or at least call your patrons so we don't have to come on time only to wait. It was not just I who waited. It was as if it was walk-in. Good seafood, enough portion, however my platter was on the salty side so I decided to order salad, Panzanella. Crab was meaty and fresh. Shrimps I think were a tad over cooked but that's just me being picky. Mussels were good as well, all fresh, almost sweet. Panzanella Salad was sour it cuts the saltiness of the seafood. Veggies were fresh. I ordered Riesling to go with my seafood and it was great. I've steered away from Riesling because in my experience they are too sweet for my taste, but this was palatable, sweet but not like a dessert, it went well with the food. If you are a lightweight like me, a glass is plenty enough. I enjoyed my time. David checked in at a good frequency, not so much that it becomes intrusive but not so spaced out like one would feel abandoned. Bathroom though needs a lot of work. So messy, no toilet seat cover, 1 not flushed, tissues everywhere, it was so disgusting I decided to hold it in until I got home. Parking. They have two parking spaces but not enough to accommodate their customers. I hate leaving bad reviews and I'm sure this place was the bees knees early on but my experience could be summed up in three words: overcooked, overpriced, and understaffed. Hot take: when you order everything and they ask if you want the appetizers served first, you should say "bring out what you can when you can" because if you don't, then your main course overcooks under the warmer while you "enjoy" your starters. Also, when you have crab on your menu, some customers would like the option of having the entire crab served (shell and tamales and all); size would also seem to be an issue: clams, shrimps and mussels were all on the "petite" side. The good part: the flavors were good, the ambiance was classy and the service (when it showed up) was profesisonal. Please adjust your pricing or your portions and regain that throne. read more

I had been hearing a lot of hype about this place so finally went to try it out. I didn't think it was anything special. Went with a couple of friends for dinner and drinks. The drinks were on the stronger side. A friend and I shared the double order of crab. It had really good flavor but for the amount we paid, the quantity was small. I would have been better off going to boiling crab which is just as good and you get a ton of other stuff like corn, sausage, and a pound of shrimp with the crab for a cheaper price. Tonight we happen to be at the dead fish with the most delightful server, Erin. The food was incredible, to say the least, and we sat on the patio overlooking the bay. After she graciously listened to my tiny story of how we were moving and also celebrating an anniversary her and her colleagues jumped up in order to make this truly a fun celebration for us. What a wonderful way to experience some of our favorite spots. I cannot recommend Erin or the dead fish enough. It was a magical evening. The Dead Fish was an incredible experience. Visited this restaurant to celebrate my besties birthday with her family. So this was a great location and the ambiance was perfect for a intimate, chill and awesome service. The outside was cute and cottage feel from the parking lot, then we wrap around to the entrance with the stripe black and white tents. Inside had some seating and the greeters posted were welcoming and cheerful. They allowed us to sit inside with lounge sofas that looked like a book room. We sat out at the patio that overlooked the water and had nice warmers up above our table so it set the mood nice! Food... was absolutely amazing! Cost was well worth spending, especially with the size of portions they give! We were all able to share plates and take some home. I forget the exact name of each dish, but the pictures do no justice to the taste each dish had. It was so good, I was spooning the dipping sauce and eating it with bread! Bread was fresh and so delicious too. I had the cioppino, and I'm telling you, the photo does no justice! After traveling to Northern California, we stopped at this restaurant to have dinner with family that lived nearby. The restaurant itself was a little weirdly placed, being cozied up in a corner of the road directly off the bridge. The parking was a little worrisome with the multiple "you're responsible for any thefts" signs everywhere, but luckily it seems they have a security truck that patrols the lot. Inside was very cute and old fashioned, with the staff wearing formal server outfits. The menu itself is nicely balanced with a focus on seafood and a small selection of non-seafood items such as prime rib and steak listed under the humorous "Other Dead Things". The prices are definitely high, but given the atmosphere and look of the restaurant, it's acceptable. We ordered garlic bread and clam chowder for starters. The garlic bread, well, tasted like garlic bread; so no surprise there. The clam chowder was very good! Hearty and starchy, and generous with large chunks of clam meat. After the starters, we ordered Branzino, the Fishwich, and a crab Alfredo. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals! The Fishwich was the star, with a lovely vinaigrette that kept the sandwich light yet flavorful. The crab Alfredo was a bit bland, but Alfredo itself is a very mild sauce, keeping the focus on the hefty crab meat mixed within. The Branzino was nicely cooked, although a little difficult to scoop away from the skillet as it had stuck firmly to it, causing a lot of ripping the filet apart to scrape it up. The only complaint I had, which is a personal preference so it may not bother everyone, but there were multiple staff that when walking by, would waft heavy, heavy cigarette smell. The service industry is taxing and stressful, so I absolutely don't blame anyone for their vices! I myself am just unfortunately sensitive to the smell of cigarettes, so it did bother me a bit. Overall it's a wonderful restaurant with quality service and a quality menu. I would definitely recommend it for anyone driving through, or locals who would like to celebrate a special night. read more

Small section of the old rusty crusty bridge on display here with the new one in the background. Great view and easy spot to access to stretch your legs. We've all crossed that old rusty bridge so many times. With that Florida pack and stack condo disaster I guess many of us have a new interest in engineering. You can examine a section of the old unsafe bridge here at your leisure. And examine it I did. I saw some sheets of paint come off it - with rust underneath. Thats not good... Next I saw some graffiti on the inside of the structure... How that get there??? Must be a lot of moisture and salt in the air - given the bay below. All thats left to do is speculate and finger point.... yeahhhh. Still, I would like a little condo in Veer at City Center. I guess I've got a lot of faith in all the rusty metal. read more

We always enjoy the "Fish." It's been a long pandemic hiatus, but finally made it back. Honestly, I go for the bread, beautifully shaped stalks of rolls. Son had a "Dead Burger" which although massive disappeared swiftly. It looked delicious while it lasted. My wife enjoyed basa with a garlic finish, while I had sea bass with a paprika garlic glaze.
