Great food and an awesome atmosphere to compliment the visit . Definitely recommend this place!

Fish dishes were cooked perfectly and the atmosphere is festive. Great venue for people meeting between Oakland and Napa.

The food was excellent. The service was excellent and the view was wonderful. I highly recommended.

This place deserves a 5 Star. Timeliness on the meal, great location and the best part is outstanding service. I want to recognize sever 201 David A and his trainee. They did a great job and went above and beyond. The best part is he check my ID to secure my debit card. I tip higher for that. Thank you and will return again. read more

Food and our service was great. I enjoy this restaurant as the food is always fresh. If possible make a reservation before going, this restaurant is so popular you may not get a table. You can however sit in the bar area. read more

I have only been twice to the Dead fish and each time I loved it. Even with a limited menu...our server was the bomb...the food was delicious and it was a perfect afternoon for a girls lunch. We order appetizers and I had the crab melt sandwich. I was more impressed with my appetizers then my sandwich but I can make anything work. With a little bit of there delicious garlic butter and aioli I made my dry crab melt work for me. read more

First let me say that this review hasn't nothing to do with the outstanding service I received from the bar attendant, Michelle. She was outstanding! This review is for the poor quality of the food. I ordered the clam chowder which now is supposed to be clam chowder to sub for the crab chowder that they used to offer. The clam chowder has some crab sprinkled on top of clam chowder with green onions. The problem is it was served luck warm and there wasn't any clams in it. I was shocked to experience this just as you are shocked to probably be reading about it. Isn't it time out for restaurants to be blaming their poor service, and food quality on the pandemic? If a restaurant can't get a wedge salad correct, what hope is there? I ordered the wedge salad to go. I received 1/4 of a head of romaine lettuce with 1/2 tbsp and blue cheese crumbles and 1/2 of a slice of bacon crumbles and the worst ranch dressing that I've ever had. It was basically mayonnaise and vinegar. How hard is it to make good tasting ranch dressing? This place has gone to you know where in a hand basket. Come here at your own risk. It's NOTHING like the old Dead Fish us regulars used to know. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

Love the food, love the service. This time we got seated in a back dining room without a view which is totally fine with me. I see a lot of people complaining about it but the room was comfortable and decorated nicely. I love when there's interesting things to look at on the walls. I come here to dig into food and get good service. I've never left unhappy. Also Shawn (or Sean) was our server and he was amazing. Funny and personable, and on cue with everything we needed at every turn. PS: If you aren't coming here to order trays of hot seafood on a platter, you shouldn't be coming. There are other things on the menu that are delicious but those platters are what this place is known for. read more

The restrooms weren't as clean but I didn't come here for that. Anniversary lunch for two with a view in the patio. We had: Hot steamy bread with butter Crab chowder Fried calamari Fish and chips Double shrimp & crab sizzling plate Good lord - everything was delicious. The bread service was nice and hot. Our server Brittany was amazing. We had the crab chowder and calamari first. The chowder was reminiscent of the pan roast at Oyster Bar in Vegas. Almost but it was delicious. Fish and chips had great flavor. But the freaking garlic shrimp and crab sizzling platter was to die for. We didn't have any leftovers, it was that good. Brittany surprised us with a chocolate mousse cake for our anniversary complete with candelabra. This is as perfect as you can get for an anniversary lunch with food spot on and amazing views of the bay. Definitely one of my favorite seafood places on this side of the Bay Area. read more

Ok. 5 stars with an asterisk..... Had a The Dead Fish gift card from ages ago and thought it wise to use it.... just in case , well the restaurant industry has been hit hard..... anywho , attempted to use it for some To Go food on Sunday , but the provider/host The Dead Fish uses to handle that only takes credit cards and no, never ever gift cards. So had to risk life and limb with a dinning reservation. (Hey, I left an email and called twice to answering machine and no luck on the gift card "to go" ordering.). So give them the Covid benefit of the doubt, asterisks. So..... arrived for my Monday 1:00 reservation with the wife and they were doing good business with nicely distanced tables, staff wearing masks, plenty of hand sanitizer, clean table and immediate surrounds. Prompt friendly waitress to take drink and appetizer order ... just a beer and the fish and chips for me and crab Louie salad for wifey thank you very much. Asked if we wanted bread, yes please. Generous portions of breads and butter, entree was at the table in about twelve minutes. Fish was delicious, fries perfectly crispy, taste of wifey's salad was delightful also. Covered patio area had heaters , plastic wind break and was quite comfortable. Topper of it all, the water came with a straw!! (Paper to appease the turtle lovers out there and comply with California law I guess). If I come down with Covid in the next week , I may take away a star,..... but really a nice dinning experience , great food , attentive staff and a five star experience. read more

Thanksgiving. Too overbooked and understaffed. Sat nearly 1/2 hour after our reservation. Kitchen ran out of gravy for the turkey, cranberry "relish" was totally liquid red juice. Wait staff were obviously doing their best, apologized frequently, but stretched way too thin. They seemed overwhelmed and forgetful, had to be reminded of requests more than once. Asking for dishes to be cleared before next course was served appeared to be an imposition. Will not return for another holiday meal. read more

I had a good friend take me here because I always wanted to go... We made reservations which I would highly suggest because unless you like waiting around for two hours for a reservation make the reservation. If you are a true seafood aficionado this is the place you might want to go. There are views but I'm not sure if there are actual reviews from the restaurant except for the back patio which you barely see... I was not that hungry when we went which unfortunately in the middle of the day and it was hot really I just wanted something simple, the price line here is above average which is fine it is seafood. I ordered clam chowder and my friend ordered a breakfast from the brunch menu. About halfway through waiting for our meal, my clam chowder was delivered and so we're 2 quarter sized crabcakes. I actually did not order crabcakes and my friend said did you order those? His breakfast had arrived and I said no... I said maybe because they are the size of a quarter they are free with the clam chowder? We waited about another 10 minutes and he said are you going to eat the crabcakes I said no I did not order them... He said I think they must've gave them to us I will go ahead and have some. He ate the crabcake. This is where it gets interesting as I was watching the people around me get serve their food everybody was served a dish that did not belong to their table. I listen to people say did you order that and the other would say no... But they would say it's OK let's go ahead and eat it. In every case nobody returned the food even when they said hey that's not my food the guy said would you like it or would you like me to take it off your bill? They said, it's OK we will take it. When our bill came we were charged for those crabcakes like we had ordered them... I think this is common practice for this place and I don't really think it needs to be but the crabcakes in this case or higher than both of our meals lol $28 to be exact and I think our meal was $21.... Obviously our bill was doubled by the crabcakes which nobody acknowledged but we did finally eat them. I don't know a restaurant of this caliber is this really something you need to do to run the bill up? I saw most people get appetizers and full entrées yet this still happened... ‍ Kind of shady... Will I return? Probably not only because I've experienced it and it was OK... It wasn't the best clam chowder I've ever had and I probably would just enjoy a nice walk on the pier in San Francisco and find a nice place versus go out of my way to the dead fish for this type of treatment. Maybe its not practice,.. ‍ I just saw it happen to six tables so I don't know I'm probably wrong... Maybe when you go it won't happen. And then again maybe just a BIG COINCIDENCE! read more

I've heard alot of good things about this place from a few of my friends so I thought I'd give it a try. The reservation system online was awesome and we got in as soon as we checked in at the front desk. Service was good and our waitress was really helpful and professional Welp the food wasn't anywhere near what I was expecting. We started with two cups of Clam Chowder and a Calamari appetizer. The Clam Chowder was luke warm and was pretty basic. The Calamari was Cold. We ordered the sea bass and salmon. Arrived about a hour after our appetizers came. Wouldn't come back read more

Wow, what a wonderful evening! We were celebrating a special double birthday dinner and we weren't disappointed. We made reservations for 5:30 and were promptly seated at an outside table which had a perfect unobstructed view of the bay and bridge. Our server Robert was attentive and his service was on point. We ordered the lemon salmon, sea bass, fish and chips and prime rib. All orders were perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this eatery for any occasion. read more

Food is decent. Get a seat outdoors facing the water, won't disappoint. No corkage fee!

The place was recommended to us by Family so I was already hesistant to go . Family sometimes can forget their palate is not in sync with yours From the outside it looked like a beach shack nothing special. Stepping inside You are instantly surprised by the atmosphere and greeted by friendly Personal service. We ordered crab cakes which made all other previous ones taste like tuna . So good ! Our entree was pasta with crab -they were generous with the serving and crab Followed by Caesar salad - great ! And a tiramisu served In a desert cup chilled with whip Crème - so delicious I happy to say this will now be a regular stop when im in Martinez! read more

My partner and I came to The Dead Fish to celebrate our birthdays and to treat ourselves with the amazing view and food! Unfortunately, I must say that the prices are completely out of pocket for the food that was served.. when you come, you're pretty much paying for the view and ambiance from the waterfront view. The oysters were TINY and not as delectable when it came down to the overpricing of it! The service was alright... it could definitely use some improvement but we had no issues there. The moment we walked in, someone from a table had gone to the front hostess to complain about how they've been waiting for over 15 minutes with no service and other folks who sat down after them received service already. Hostess was not the happiest--but regardless, in a professional setting, there should be service with a smile! read more

Went for my husband's birthday this past Sunday and it not the same. Service has gone way down. We had a reservation and still had to wait. We waited in the bar and couldn't sit near the fireplace because all of those tables were dirty. Staff continually walked by tables and didn't clean them. As we waited in the bar, no waiter came to ask us if we'd like a drink or appetizer while we waited. Then we got our table and were served water and told our waiter would be by shortly. We waited 17 minutes before our waiter appeared. We gave him our our appetizer and drink orders. Those were served nicely. Our entrees were fair. One of the crabs I ordered was not fresh. Desserts were delicious, but as we were giving our waiter our dessert order, right in the middle of us ordering he just walks off! So my husband had to call him back to the table so we could finish our orders. It's really disappointing to see how this place has gone down with lack of service and mediocre food. We won't be back. Following up with Peter D--I left you a message on Yelp indicating where you can reach me. read more

The Dead Fish - Only one crab was fresh. - Seafood Near Me - Crockett, California

Well, like the ambiance. Especially dinner time. You can see the bay and the Carquinez bridge all lit up. Service was fine, and a lil rough around the edges. I have no qualms with that. Now the food... meh meh and meh. Cesar salad has a blob of dressing in the middle of a bowl of romaine and six croutons with some parm on it. Meh. Then the fish and chips, the Panko crust fine, fried well. The fish was slightly hmmm slimey-ish. Like it was frozen and then thawed out and a tad old. Not so much that I had it taken back, definitely wasn't good though. Might be back... not sure yet. read more

Great food, great service and atmosphere. And you can't beat the view. Reservation is a must. Always busy.

We came here for family birthdays. We have been to this restaurant many times and the food is always on point. Our first impressions arriving was unfortunately not pleasant. We ended up having one extra person in our party. I had called several days prior to our reservation to ask for one more chair.. The lady on the phone was rude and said they couldn't guarantee anything but to tell the hostess upon arrival. When we did that the on site hostess was super rude. Like we were the ones being unreasonable. I told them I had called several days prior but all i received in return was rudeness. The young ladies you have seating people need to understand they are the front of the house of your entire restaurant and first impressions are lasting! We were seated in a booth that I honestly didn't think we would fit. When I asked the young lady of she thought we would fit with 9 adults I again got no response and she radioed that we didn't want the table. Proceeds to tell me they may not have a table for us...so we just squeeze in and get on with it. It was a bit tight but we made it work. Once we got rid of the rude hostesses that's when things dramatically improved. Waitress was super friendly and welcoming. Service was quick and the food was excellent. A few stand outs for us was the Calmari and clam chowder both were excellent. For the entrees. Everyone loved their crab and shrimp Louie and the seafood linguini was a favorite. She brought us two slices of chocolate mousse cake with candles that was excellent! Overall service and food great. Front of the house needs training and charm school. read more

Went here for a friend's birthday and was really impressed with the food. Pros: The food (I had the prime rib) was excellent, and the prime rib was perfectly medium rare and well seasoned. Service is very prompt, we were well attended. Atmosphere was good, not too loud and the decor was tasteful and in theme. Cons: The only big con was the attitude of the wait staff. While they were prompt, they were very surly. The bartender refused to make a drink for my friend because she was ordering the name on the menu and kept insisting she use the actual name of the drink. Overall, a good dining experience but not exceptional. read more

First off, I gotta say that I used to like this place, but now I wouldn't even spend a penny here of my money anymore let alone spend your money here! My friends, my wife and I had a buisness lunch here on Dec 12, 2021 Sunday right when they opened at noon. We sat in the back of the restaurant where you can see the view of the Carquinez bridge kinda where the larger parties sat at. We were a table of 7. As we sat down, settled in started conversing w/ each other the manager approached our table. I thought he was gonna greet us and be like welcome to dead fish blah blah blah, instead Peter (the manager) says hey would you guys be quiet, there is a complaint saying that we were talking loud as well as swearing. For the record we haven't even started drinking yet so we were keeping everything to a dull roar, loud enough for us to talk at our table. We look over at him in disgust and look around to see who was the complainer and we saw some super old white lady acting like a straight Karen to the right of our table staring at us. Bingo, now I knew exactly who was talking shit! We still somewhat don't make an issue but after a few minutes one of our friends gets up and goes to the front and speaks to Peter like saying this is some bullshit why we gotta get harrassed like this when we ain't doing nothing etc. Now we are talking a lot more louder than before to let them know that shits not okay and we know it was them who was complaining for nothing. What we should've did was get up and bounce but we just wanted to enjoy our holiday party. As we get a round of drinks and appetizers we have a toast, as we are about to cheers one of the old white women yelled "SHUT UP"! Oh hell nah, now this some bullshit, we got very upset, and was telling her off in an adult manner but we wasn't outta pocket or anything. I got up and went to the manager Peter. (Who already didn't handle the situation earlier like a professional and a representative of the Dead Fish)). I told him that we were being harrassed by this elderly white lady. Peter rushes to both of our tables to see what the issue was, and unbenounced to me shakes one of the mens hands as he approaches the table like they was good buddies or something. Oh we were in such disgust we were not causing a scene but letting other's know what was going on w/o making this a huge fiasco. So what I'm trying to say is that this place caters to old white racist people who feel entitled that they are better than all of us! The 7 of us consisted of 5 Filipino's 3 females 2 males, 1 Latina (Mexican) and 1 black female. So please don't support piece of shit businesses that do nothing about their customers being harrassed by old white racist people. I've read multiple reviews and I've seen (Peter) involved with a lot of racist altercations from patrons like us being harrassed as well as being very rude to other minorities. Maybe if the owners at dead fish would fire this clown Peter the old white man w/ glasses who is the manager there wouldn't be so much negative reviews and experience's here! Train your managers and have them set an example, all your (Dead Fish employees) represent you as a company and is an extension of yourself! the waitress we had was very Cool and very apologetic. The other waitress had dropped her jaw when she heard what that old White woman said out loud. This one with the wig in the middle of the pic of the 3 stooges is the one who was talking from the side of her neck & Peter is the Bozo who don't now how to handle nor diffuse a situation as well as the guy who shook the guys hand who's table harassed us. For the record the men at their table didn't say a word or even look our way but they need to keep they old Alzheimer's ass wife's on a leash if they gonna go out in public, these kinda comments can go sideways for them if their dealing with a different t cut of cloth! read more

I had the worst experience here ever! I am a business owner myself and want nothing but QUALITY of care for ALL my clients. So when I explain to you my experience here has left me astounded, that is to say the least! I took my staff of 6 individuals here for our holiday party. We were so happy to get together and have a great time outside of our work environment, but that quickly went all the way left after only being seated at our table for 15 minutes. The manager PETER came over to our table and told us that a table nearby requests that we "keep it down." Mind you, we are in a PUBLIC RESTAURANT, not a library and it's DURING CHRISTMAS! There are other tables surrounding us but at that time we were the only table of color. This did not sit well With us and a couple of us had to walk up to the manager and explain our frustrations. NOTHING was done from Peter the manager. HE DIDN'T CARE. Although we were heated, we still tried to make the best of our holiday brunch. We raised our glasses to cheers to much success this past year and the people from that same table yelled "shut up!" The waitresses around had to apologize for THEIR behavior. We again informed the manager PETER what just happened and he went over to the table that was pretty much harassing us at this point, and shook the man's hand and looked at us and said "what, I know him!" I'm DISGUSTED with the 100% poor management and customer service we experienced. It's mind blowing to see an establishment like this feel comfortable taking our money the same way they do everyone else, but don't give us the same courtesy! WHOEVER IS IN CHARGE AT THE DEAD-FISH SHOULD KNOW THAT YOUR MANAGER, PETER IS GOING TO DRIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO THE GROUND. IF YOU ARE AWARE OF THIS BEHAVIOR THEN SHAME ON YOU AND I HOPE THAT THIS REVIEW WILL MAKE PEOPLE AWARE THAT YOU TREAT PEOPLE LIKE US WITH DISRESPECT & THAT YOU GIVE YOUR "REGULAR'S" A HAND SHAKE WHEN THEY HARASS OTHER PAYING CUSTOMERS. I've been going here for years but dead fish has opened my eyes to support businesses that not only stand for one group, but for ALL! Oh and I spent $1000 dollars there on this day. So just know, that I didn't expect a comped meal after that disgusting service we had. I would never spend another penny here and I will highly recommend to everyone I know to do the same. P.s. PETER IN RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY... I already emailed customercare@thestinkingrose.com SO TELL ME WHAT ELSE? ARE THEY GOING TO RESPOND? BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T YET. read more
