Recently moved to Glendora and wanted to try a local spot so I took my parents to The Diplomat Junior last night. Once seated, we were given menus and pretty much that was it. We had to flag down a server to put in a drink order, which took 20 mins to get. Our appetizer arrived pretty quick, but we had no water or drinks to enjoy. As we sat waiting for someone to take our order, 4 other groups were seated, orders taken and food and drinks arrived for them. We still hadn't been able to place our order. I flagged down a waitress and asked for water, she said someone will bring your drinks shortly. My dad was choking so I had to go to the bar and ask AGAIN for water. We still hadn't received our original drinks. She finally came over and set down one glass of water and IGNORED us as we asked to order food. We flagged down another waitress and explained what was going on. She took our order. We sat and watched as our original waitress, took care of other tables, brought out trays of food for people that had gotten there after us and not once did she come and check on us. We once again got the attention of a different waitress and asked her to pack our food to go. Our food was brought to us in to go containers and we ask for the bill. I had to take the bill to the front counter to pay for it because no one came back to actually take the credit card from us, and our original waitress asked me if everything was OK and did I need something? I told her that service was terrible, she never once came back to check on us and we were very disappointed. She shrugged her shoulders and walked away. That service was absolutely unacceptable. read more

I enjoyed several trips to the Diplomat Junior after they opened. The food is good, and they have a nice variety. However, they started using some very strong-smelling cleaning products, which are overpowering even when seated in the outdoor eating area. We haven't eaten there in a few years because of this. read more

Everything was absolutely great! The ambience, the food and the service! The chicken arugula salad was delicious!

We had ordered the hummus, Morracan Eggplant, salad, and combo for 2 which includes chicken, beef, lule kababs. Food came out quickly. Lule kabab is delicious. The chicken was good, the beef was ok. Attention to detail was so so. Service was a hit and miss. Ambiance is nice, depending on the time of day could be loud or quiet. There are some restaurants that have a comfortable vibe. This restaurant acts like it is hurting on costs...we asked for extra paper napkins and they only bring out a few. We asked for boxes to go for the leftovers and they kept bringing one box at a time. Was not able to take everything home like I wanted because they acted stingy on the boxes! Would I come here again...probably not. read more

Server/bartender didn't seem happy to be working here. She took our order delivered it and we didn't see her until we hunted her down to get our bill. Food wasn't bad but it wasn't anything I'd return for. Lamb tasted gamey and the beef plate was dry...ohhhh and ZERO condiments offered. We also tried the baklava...AND if I may, let me save you from what might be the absolute worst version of this normally wonderful dessert...so dry and bitter yuk! I have been here a few times and the service, food, and atmosphere is excellent. I recently went since the place expanded and there is plenty of more seating; there's also outdoor seating. I love how the menu clearly states what's vegan and vegetarian. The prices are not the cheapest, but it is well served. It's located in the heart of the village, downtown Glendora. read more

Such a good find in Covina/Glendora area!! Hidden Gem for sure. The arugula and filet mignon salad is an absolute must-try--perfectly tender meat and incredible flavor! The restaurant itself is spotless, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is genuinely friendly and attentive, and Diana, our waitress, was fantastic! She had great recommendations and a great sense of humor, making the experience even better. The kebab plates, both beef and chicken, are flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the lamb chops? Diplomat JR has excellent food- the chicken kabobs are made fresh with that grilled flavor, accompanied with rice, pita, cabbage, a roasted tomato and a roasted pepper. Quite perfect. We usually get to go because we come out this way to see the vet and have our dog in the car. The serous very friendly and pleasant. They have indoor and outdoor tables. Hate to do it, but the rude waitress earned this establishment a one star review. I have never ever encountered someone so rude before.. especially a server. This lady was working Friday evening, (hair in a pony tail, blue eyeliner) .. was there with 6 others. Arrived around 4:30, we were seated immediately. We all ordered and the waiter brought out a beef plate and said "beef kebab, medium" set it down to my daughter's friend. Then a chicken kebab came out that no one had ordered. We let the waitress know and she immediately went on the defense saying how my daughter's friend ordered the wrong thing insisting she ordered chicken. Impossible because she is incredibly food sensitive and literally does not eat chicken for health reasons. This woman INSISTED that she did, while 3 of us knew we heard her order beef. It wasn't a big deal, we just wanted the kebab switched out. She insisted that we were wrong and was going to charge us for both to correct it. We declined and just accepted the chicken that no one ordered. My Dad ate it instead, and this poor girl had extremely rare beef that she didn't even want at this point. Imagine a grown woman raising her voice at a 13 year old telling her she was wrong. We tried to brush past this and move on but the server was so argumentative, it was uncomfortable. She finally agreed to remove the chicken plate from our bill after reiterating to us that we were wrong and she was right. She then included a 20% gratuity on our check (this was disclosed on the menu) but I'm under the impression you can refuse this as a patron. She refused to acknowledge my request to tip my own amount, and charged me 20%. Worst service ever, and it's too bad because the food was decent. We will never be going back. Also, half of our party was Lebanese, so we even took cultural differences into account and tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but this waitress was just flat out RUDE!! read more

The food was outstanding, the fried cauliflower was the tastiest I've had! This is a unique dish that is not offered in most of the Mediterranean restaurants I have been to. Definitely a keeper for future visits. The combination plate was perfect for 2 or more as we took leftovers! The service was great and the servers very attentive to all the tables! Great ambiance outside under the lights and phenomenal fresh food! This place never disappoints when it comes to food or the staff! Food is in big portions and so fresh you may gorge yourself, but still feel very good about what you ate! Staff is friendly and helpful, but, as anywhere else can get incredibly busy during high volume hours. It's really noisy inside and feels a bit cold and lacking decor, but I don't come here for the decor. If I want to have a chat with dinner companions, I choose outside. If you're going for some good eats and don't care to hear everything go inside. read more

I am a hummus lover so I had to try their hummus. It was creamy and delicious. So worth it so make sure to get this as an appetizer. It comes with plenty of pita bread. We had the Combo for 2, which came with Chicken, Beef and Lule Kabobs (Ground fillet beef mixed with onions and spices, marinated and grilled). Very moist and cooked perfectly. Lots of flavor. I wish the rice was more flavorful. The garlic sauce was good. It was fantastic with the hummus! Great for sharing! Great ambiance and patio area. It's nice seating outside in downtown Glendora. Happened to be in the area and saw the food reviews so I figured I would give them a chance and I am glad I did. Wow what a hidden gem this spot is!! The food was delicious! The chicken was marinated and cooked to perfection while the garlic hummus was to die for. Lastly, the service was what really separated this place from other Mediterranean spots and will be the reason I come back. Our server (Ricardo) went above and beyond!! Awesome place when the owners are there. We dropped by at 8 pm on a Wednesday evening and were turned away as they decided to close at 8'pm. They publish a 9'pm closing time. To add insult to injury they were taking someone's order at 8:05 as we were walking away. One of the better places to eat in Glendora is now exclusionary. Hard to imagine going back there. read more

Okay, I tried to give this place a second chance because when I went the first time, I had a subpar experience. But boy, I feel like the second time was even worse. The food was so mediocre. The meats were either too dry or too salty or both. The rice in all the dishes was soggy and lacked flavor. Everything just kind of tasted burnt and lemony. The veggie soup was pretty terrible...might as well have been lemonade (and that's coming from someone who likes tart foods usually). The fatoosh salad looked like someone just emptied a bag of greens and drizzled on some oil and called it a day. Overall the food just felt lazily slapped together. The cost was bonkers too. The menus you see online are outdated. We ended up being charged $140 for two entrees, a salad, and two sides. There are so many other Mediterranean places in the area--I can't believe this was so bad given the competition. read more

One of the few places in the area that I think is authentic Mediterranean food. I grew up in Glendale so I think I know what good middle eastern food is supposed to taste like and this place does a good job. Lots of flavor and the meat is not rough or plastic feeling which is common in other restaurants where I notice the quality isn't as good. I would recommend this place. Sometimes they even run out of certain items, that should say something as to how popular they are. I haven't tasted the Lentil soup yet for this reason. I love the lemon and olive oil blend and I feel their food is very delicious. It is a bit on the pricey side but in line with their competitors (all Mediterranean food is expensive, even the not so good kind, so might as well make your money pay for something worth eating). read more

Absolutely the best restaurant in the area! Have been eating here since they opened its doors and come here almost every other week if not weekly. We literally feel like family when we walk in. Even when we call to place to go order, they greet us like family. I recently had a graduation luncheon for my daughter here with 25 people. Our server Violet was absolutely the most amazing person ever! The night before I took all of my table settings for my tablescape and she went above and beyond without me even having to tell her what to do with setting up my vision. When we walked in everything was set to perfection. Never have I seen one person take care of 25 people with such ease, grace and politeness.
